Outlooksoft ServiceManager Service  - BPC 7.0M SP07 Patch 1, 2, or 3

We have noticed inconsistent behavior with the Outlooksoft SeviceManager service installed by BPC 7.0M SP7 patch 1, 2, or 3. If the patch is installed on a server where there is a virtual name defined, the service is installed correctly and starts up.
However if any of these patches that contain the NLB fix in patch 1 is installed on a system that does not have a virtual name defined (not NLB), then the service is installed, the bpc system admin user is set at the Log on user, but the service will not start. This is because in this case, the BPC installation program does not set the BPC System Admin user with Log On as a Service permission.
Why does the installer do this correctly when a virtual name is defined, but not when there is none? The service is set to start automatically in either case, so when you do not have a virtual name you get an application popup that a service or driver failed to start. Once you assign the Log on as a service permission, then it works.
Is the intended behavior that this service is not necessary in a non-NLB setup? In this case, it would be better to set the service to Manual startup or Disabled rather than automatic with a log on account that does not have the correct priviledges.

Hi,
The architecture you designed is ok. Now there are some things you can take in consideration:
1. Usually, the reporting Services is better to be on the application server. This because it need iis and iis installed on db server cand be an open door to the server.
2. If you have a cluster for SQL server - you can put the fileshare on the DB side (added to cluster - solves the file-over problem)
Regarding the installation files you downloaded:
language is related to languages patch in case you want to use BPC in a different language than english
sms installation kit  - silent client installation.
Hope this can help,
Mihaela

  • BPC 7.0 SP07 - Multi Server Install

    Hi All,
We are just starting the process of installing BPC 7.0 SP07 and trying to decide what components to add on a two server architecture. This is what we are planning to do:
Server 1 (64 bit) consists of: SQL, OLAP and Reporting servers
Server 2 (32 bit) consists of: Application, web and FileShare servers
We thought of this architecture because application and web servers cannot be installed on 64 bit OS. Please let us know if we are going in the right path or not and are there any potential problems we will run into.
Also, I downloaded BPC 7.0 SP07 since that is the latest service pack available. I had to download three different zip files - server, language and client for SMS packages. Where as the SP03 had only one zip file. I don't know why there are three different zip files and at what point during installation I need to use those. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Unable to start OutlookSoft SendGovernor Service

    Hi All,
While running the server diagnostic, I am getting the error on OSoftSendGovernor. So I tried to start the OSoft Send Governor Service manually. But I am unable to start the services. I am getting the following error:

Has anyone come across the similar problem before?

  • Clients repeatedly asking for update in BPC 5.1 SP5 (Patch 2)

Hi guys.  Hope you can help.
I am running a Dev server with BPC 5.1 SP5 Patch 2 and have enabled Auto-Update for Clients and Admins.
When I log on, I receive the message that a new update is available for my software and it installs perfectly (I am a Local Admin on my own PC).
However, when a client without Local Admin privilege on their PC connects, it tells them that the update is available and proceeds to install it.
However, once it reaches the end of installation and you re-connect to the server, it again tells you that an update is available......
    This process never ends.
We have the server setup with a Domain Admin account for the auto-update and have applied Patch 2 and the workaround to fix non-installation of the updates.
As I said, it works for Local Admin clients, but whilsty it appears to work for non-Admins, it must be failing to update something (most likely the registry key with the version numbers in).
On my PC (that does update properly), I have the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OUTLOOKSOFT\50\ADMIN\VERSION = 5.0.502
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OUTLOOKSOFT\50\ADMIN\UPDATEVERSION = 5.0.506.02
I can't check the failed client yet, as I'm not an Admin on that PC
    Has anyone any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Craig

Thanks to all for the repsonses so far.
So, Sorin, are you saying the the client auto-update will only work for users who are a local admin on their PC ???
I thought that that was the reason for having the option to enter an admin account into BPC Server Manager for Auto-Update - To override the local user, and allow the update to happen.
So I guess my question now is whether it is possible to run this update (most of my clients are not local admins), or whether I need to look at deploying the SMS version via either Altiris or an Active Directory installation?
    Thanks again

  • OutlookSoft SendGovernor Service service hung on starting

    Hello all,
I am getting an error meesage when the the server (Windows Server 2003) that runs BPC 7.0 starts up. In event viewer I am getting the error message "OutlookSoft SendGovernor Service service hung on starting" under Event ID 7022. However this does not seem to affect BPC and when I look in the Services Manager the OutlookSoft SendGovernor Service has started.
What can I do to prevent this service hanging on startup?
    Many thanks
    Omar

    Hi,
With the registry editor (regedit), under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\OSoftSendGovernor :
Add a multi-string key named DependOnService.
Assign it the value : COMSysApp
    Sincerely

  • Read-only scenario issue in SAP BPC 7.0 SP07

Please do not post duplicate threads across forums.
    Hi
This is related to SAP BPC.
The appset which runs on SAP BPC 7.0 SP07, is not able to write on read-only scenarios, while the appset which runs on SAP BPC 7.0 SP3, allows to write through script logic.
If a read-only scenario cannot be written even through a script logic, it is impossible to finalize working versions.
So, let me know if anyone came across such similar problem. And how was it resolved?
    Thank you.

  • BPC 7.0 SP07 & BPC Powerpoint

    Hi all,
I have tried to use BPC Powerpoint with BPC 7.0 SP07. It seems that it doesn't work fine:
1- sometimes when I insert an Excel object (ie a BPC Excel EVDRE report) into a slide I just have a blank sheet.
2- sometimes the EVDRE report is visible but all group lines and columns are visible too. I have to edit the report from BPC Powerpoint to hide all unecessary rows and columns. In this case it seems that the report doesn't depend on the Current view of BPC Powerpoint. For example, my report displays the quarters which depends on the Time current view. If I change the current view in BPC Powerpoint and I click on "Retrieved all data" nothing occurs. When I click on "Expand all", I have an error message: "You should select the Excel object".
Have you already seen these problems?
    thanksfor your help,

    Hi
    Romuald Colletaz
We are thinking about applying SP07
Please provide more insight on why did SAP release SP07 so early after SP06
is there any particular issue that cannot be solved by SP06
this is important for us since we are in the process of applying SP06
    your inputs are highly appreciated

  • Updating LM-Tools SP07 Patch 0 to Patch 2

    Dear all,
I want to update the LM-Tools for a Netweaver EHP2 from SP07 Patch 0 to Patch 2 but I can´t generate the correct stack.xml file.
When I generate the file in the solution manager the system generates me a stack.xml for Patch 0 not for Patch 2.

    Hi,
If you want to apply only LM tool patch. You can download it from OSS and apply using jspm single patch.
    No stak file is required.

  • BPC 7.0M SP3 patch 2 didn't do anything

    Hello everyone,
We are curently facing an issue with BPC 7.0M SP3 regarding the expiration of the signature of some BPC files. We check the Note and found to not related to our issue : Note 1334212 - Signed certification on BPC 7M SP3 and Note 1334217 - BPC 7.0M SP03 Patch 2
Therefore we installed the Patch 2 and download the new client.  But we found out that nothings has changed. There are no new  digital certificate.
Do you experiences the same issue ? Do you have a clue about it ?
    Best regards

For info these are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
What, if anything, have you tried ?e.g. :
    - clearing Safari's history and data (Settings > Safari)
    - closing apps via the iPad's taskbar
    - soft-reset
    - resetting your network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings (you will need to re-enter network passwords to reconnect to them)
    - backing up (and copying purchases over to your computer's iTunes library) and restoring to that backup

  • Service download file Showing older PAtch Level

    Dear All,
I have updated my SOLMAN patch to SP17 and I have also updated all the patches as prerequistic to configure the E2E. Everything are fine
When I generate the service file for EWR report. In the service.xml file shows the Older patch level(SP13) instead of SP17.
Is there any configuration needs to be performed to update this configuration file.

  • BPC 5.1 SP7 patch 3 - Work Status not updateable

    Hi All,
We have just upgraded to SP7 and applied patch 3, and suddenly we cannot "roll-back" Work Status from eSubmit / Modify Work Status.
Previously I (as Administrator) could change a status from Approved back to Submitted or Unlocked. Now, once something is Submitted it is greyed out (not able to be changed). (Both the "Include children in data region" and the Work Status dropdown are unavailable")
I've searched SAPNotes and on the forums, but cannot find anything related.
    Any ideas?

    Thank you,

    Neil,
Thanks for your persistence and for reporting how you eventually solved it.  I had precisely the same problem after upgrading our production Portal from 7.00 to 7.01.  I didn't have problems in dev or test, because we don't have multiple app servers in those environments, just a central instance.  Now it's GoLive weekend and I've been pulling out my hair trying to get the app servers to work after the EHPI process is done.  I had to do just what you suggested, about editing the bootstrap configuration manually, as changes in the config tool didn't seem to have any effect on jcontrol.  I got that solved using your solution, but that led to nearly the same problem occurring for the individual dispatcher and server nodes, once jcontrol was started.  It took a while and lot of experimenting, but eventually I figured out that they were pulling the wrong jdbc driver from their individual configuration.manager properties (accessed via config tool).  The central instance was correctly updated by the EHPI program, but not the app servers.  Annoying!
Makes me wonder if I was supposed to leave the app servers running during the 'downtime' phase of the EHPI.  The manual, and the EHPI program, tell you at the start of the phase "shut down all dialog instances now", but then there's no indication of how these significant changes are supposed to be replicated to the app servers.  Several times I nearly escalated to a Very High priority Customer Message, but I kept unraveling the thread until I solved it, and your message here was the clue that put me on the right track.
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • BPC 7 patching to SP7 - Advice needed

    Dear Experts,
We are planning to perform BPC 7 patching to SP7 (from SP4), kindly need your share experience on what What preparation and any note/known issue we have to take as consideration
Currently we have SAP Note :
    Note 1414584 - BPC 7.0M SP07
    and
"Upgrade Guide SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 7.0"
I am really new in BPC and will appreciate very much for any input.
    Thanks & Regards,

We recently went from BPC 7.0M SP05 to BPC 7.0M SP07 Patch 2.  The upgrade went smooth overall with nothing out of the ordinary.  We did notice a slight difference in EVDRE zero supression - a few lines that could be supressed were not.  We also went from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 and Excel 2003 to Excel 2007 as a part of it.  Those upgrades were bigger than the true BPC portion.
Just make sure you practice the upgrade and test your key processes thoroughly in a separate environment.  The pure BPC upgrade should take no longer than half a day.
