OutlookSyncClient.exe Eats CPU Until Killed

Dear All,
I upgraded to 2.0 last night, and everything seems to be working as it is supposed to, EXCEPT for an issue with Outlook 2003 synchronization. Each time I sync, OutlookSyncClient.exe starts using up large amounts of CPU time. After the sync is finished, it continues to use CPU time until I kill it (Task Mananger -> End Process). I synced late last night, and when I woke up this morning I found that it was still active and burning CPU.
I have four CPU cores, and it is using all of one core and 50-100% of another core. This is with XP Pro with latest service pack and updates.
Anyone else seeing this? Bug report to Apple I guess?
Thanks,
B. Coggins

Same problem here, except using Outlook 2002. I've spent way too much time running down run paths including uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, clearing synch history, searching for conflicts, etc. I think it started after updating to itunes 7.7.0.43. I did not update my ipod Touch to 2.0 and hope that won't be a requirement. Hopefully there is a fix... or will be a fix soon. This has been annoying, but it helps to see I'm' not alone. I'm guessing everyone who uses the synch feature between their ipod touch or iphone in conjunction w/ Outlook is probably experiencing the same problems, most won't post here but likely will visit when searching for answers. Again, my issues are the same, OutlookSyncClient and SyncServer are eating up the CPU resources and ipod no longer syncs at all between contacts and calenders.

    Hi,
I have tried and confimed that you can download the previous version from some web-site about the version 10.5.1.42.
Remove/un-install 10.5.2.11 and restart your computer.
    Install the old version 10.5.1.42
and then you can find the "Devices" on the left column and showing synchronizing when you connect the cable.
    Good luck

  • Adl.exe eating up 100% CPU (CS5, Windows)

    Hi,
In Flash Professional CS5 on Windows 7 (64bit), whenever I test a movie (ctrl+enter) targeted at AIR, the adl.exe process starts eating up 100% of the cpu at intervals, that is:
    - adl.exe eats up 100% of the cpu for several seconds
    - then back to normal for several seconds
    - then eats up 100% of the CPU again for several seconds
    and so on.
I see it in the task manager that the process eating up all CPU is adl.exe; obviously the application being tested (and the whole computer) becomes almost unresponsive on CPU peaks.
If I publish the very same test app as an air package, install and run it, it runs fine, with near to 0% cpu consumption, which is normal.
The raise in CPU consumption does not coincide with anything significant happening, it seems just a random (though almost regular in intervals) oscillation, with no apparent cause.
My swf is not very cpu greedy, it is almost idle. I do ctrl+enter and then don't touch anything, just leave it running (which does almost nothing) and the CPU usage goes up and down. I repeat, this does NOT happen if I publish, install and run the AIR application without the ADL debug launcher.
Has anybody run into the same problem?
    Is there any fix?
    thanks
    m.

    Hi ,
Would you mind help me with following questions :
    1. What is your AIR version? Could you please  have a try on our latest AIR build(http://get.adobe.com/air/?promoid=BUIGQ)
    2. In Which running mode you encounter this performance issue? In an IDE , or installing it? According to the  prior post, matteosistisette met this issue when running it on Flash CS5 with ctrl+enter NOT by installing it after packaging it as an AIR file
    3. I tried with winxp on some  machines (such as; dell OPTIPLEX 760 and laptop thinkpad :T400) , using adl to launch it .
Set it to the front application ,and do nothing, the cpu is 20% - 23%
Minimize the application, and the cup is 0% – 2%
Do some operations on the app , it is 30% - 70%
So have you tried on other machines, such as : winxp on PC instead of na Imac, ,and what's the  CPU usage? and relevant PC processor and memory info
4.A little confused about the following info  you mentioned:
"I speak of the screen following
the name entry, once all transitions have finished and the puzzle has
exploded it's pieces and the main menu is simply sitting idle"
that the main menu sit idle is the expected result/designed by your app, right?
    thanks

  • OutlookSyncClient.exe - Entry Point Not Found

I'm at wit's end with this. I've spent most of last night, and this morning trying to track this down. It all started with the iTunes 7.7 update, but it didn't happen until I started syncing Outlook with MobileMe. I get two error messages, about every 15-20 minutes. MobileMe is set to sync "automatically." At one point, I was getting and error message stating that MobileMe couldn't sync and to check my settings. The settings were right, and apparently in my troubleshooting steps I've made that error go away.
OutlookSyncClient.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point MAPIInitialize could not be located in dynamic link library MAPI32.DLL
It has nothing but an OK box, I hit that, and directly after I get another one with the exact same message.
The best part is, the syncing is working fine with MobileMe. These error messages are driving me nuts.
I uninstalled my Nokia's syncing software BEFORE I attempted to even setup with MobileMe (the Nokia was my pre-iPhone-phone). I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Office 2003 and its service pack. I've completed all critical updates to Office. I'm running XP Pro SP3 with all critical updates completed. I've also manually deleted the MAPI32.DLL file and ran FIXMAPI to replace it with a good copy.
UPDATE: When I previously stated that I got rid of the MobileMe Sync error message, I apparently have not. It pops up randomly and says:
The sync failed because MobileMe is not property configured on your computer.
Make sure your settings are correct under the Sync tab in the MobileMe preferences on this computer.
They are correct. If I hit the Sync Now button, everything goes smoothly.
Any ideas before I just set fire to this thing?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

UPDATE - (Made a second post so it'd be clearer)
I uninstalled Office 2003, then iTunes, then all of the associated software (Mobile Device Support, Apple Update, Quicktime, EVERYTHING)
Reinstalled Office 2003, then Office 2003's Service Pack 3, then all Microsoft Updates for Office 2003. Then I configured a blank Outlook profile, no data other than the IMAP info for my .Mac/Me account. Then I downloaded (didn't used my existing copy) of iTunes 7.7 and reinstalled. Sync'd phone. Changed MobileMe settings. Told it to sync contacts and calendar with Outlook. It warned me because it was the first sync. Told it to take ALL of the MobileMe data and replace the data on the computer (which was blank.) NOTHING showed up in Outlook. When I tell it to sync Contacts with the Windows Address Book, it works fine.
In Conclusion, it still won't sync with Outlook, when it's set to Sync with Outlook I still get the annoying MAPI errors. So I switched to to Sync the Contacts with the Windows Address Book, and I'm backing up my WAB file now with my nightly backups.
I suppose we'll see if it gets fixed when I format/reinstall on Vista Ultimate in the next month or two. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open and willing to try them.
On a completely unproductive note: Despite my love for Exchange, I hate MAPI.

mobiledeviceservice.exe hogs CPU. It takes 98 to 99 % of resources.  Trying to upgrade the operating system to 5.0 but its been hung up in the back up process for 4 hours.

I have a single core laptop it won't work eats 99% of cpu, it's the mobile device service. I couldn't update my iPhone 4 to the latest iOS5.
Also I can't access iTunes to get my contact list or music from iTunes with my new iPhone 4S because I have to update to iTunes 10.5 to do that or buy a quard core laptop.

  • Isa 2006 wspsrv.exe high cpu load

I have an ISA 2006 Server which run for 5 years without any problem. As the hardware is getting old now I have decided to change the Hardware to a new server but was unable due to the hardware to install Server 2003 which ISA runs only on this one as it
is 32-bit. I then decided to install server 2008 R2 and install isa 2006 on a vm. Installed all updates patches on server 2008 and the 2003 running on VM, SP1 for ISA.
Everything went fine, transferred the rules and Exchange and everything works fine.  However, every day, two days three days, very randomly and no systematically timeframe isa 2006 wspsrv.exe get a 99% high cpu load and then the service makes
the internet to stop.  No internet access anymore, no ping by name or IP.  Rebooting the server fixes that problem until it happens again.  It also happens during different time when people are working or even during the weekend when noone is
    working on the system.
I have no idea anymore what I could do next.  ISA is the only thing installed on the Server
    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi,
The blog analyzed a scenario that the high CPU is caused by the third party driver. You could refer to the steps in the blog to troubleshoot this issue.
    Quote:
What we can conclude here is that we have a condition where wspsrv.exe was allocating more and more threads without releasing resources (releasing threads) because it was getting stuck waiting for an answer from kernel driver.
Some threads were working on I/O, mainly socket and LRPC call (almost socket) that run in Kernel mode. The third party driver is causing every AFD call to take more time and more CPU cycles, the fact that ISA is extremely using sockets amplify the problem.
The third party kernel driver was uninstalled from ISA Server and the issue was resolved.

  • KACPID eating CPU on a 6250 blades with SLES 10 SP1

    Hi all,
We have just installed Sles 10 SP1 with OES2 addon on a 6250 blade and it seems that kacpid process is eating CPU (starts with 25 %) cycles.
This process cannot be killed en wil eat more cycles after time. After 2 days is allocating almost two cores.
The latest bios is installed (V11) en we are running kernel 2.6.16.54-0.2.11.
It might be a acpi problem.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Same problem here with SLES 9 SP4.
And by the way, booting with acpi=ht might help, although it disables most of the power saving features.

  • Swing application eats CPU on resume after standby

My application contains a mix of regular Swing components and about 200 (small) custom components (JPanels) that draw themselves. The problem is that if put my laptop into Standby, then restart it, the application eats CPU. It goes from ~4% pre standby to ~48% after standby. Totally repeatable. There is only the main thread, the AWT thread and a couple timers firing: one to get data from a server and one to redraw the custom controls to make the control blink (calls repaint() to cue up a call to paintComponent()). I put timing code in the two timer driven threads and both are running fine. NOTE: each of the custom components is just a rectangle with a short text string in it. Think checkerboard with text. The background color is all that is being changed. It's basically a grid of alarm/status "lights".
I did some searching and only found a reference to a drawing bug that was fixed back in 1.4.x that had to do with WinXP and dual-headed computers.
Note that another simple Swing application I wrote (no custom controls), doesn't appear to behave this way, so I suspect it has to do with the custom drawing stuff (rolling my own paintComponent() method).
Any thoughts on how to figure out what is eating the CPU? I'm using NetBeans 6.7 and JDK 1.6_14 under Windows XP.

It doesn't matter if it's a Swing timer or a Util timer. It behaves the same either way. That was one of the first things I tried.
I ended up refactoring the code to go from a grid of individual controls (think checker board where each square is a control that draws itself), to a single "board" control that draws a grid. That seems to have fixed the issue. I can go in/out of Standby and the app doesn't eat a ton of CPU any more. The real problem may still be there, just too small of an effect to notice.
I don't know why the original design would work fine before a Standby, but not after. Having ~200 little controls doing repaints twice a second must confuse something in the JVM/Windows versus having 4 large controls doing the same amount of drawing.
It's working, so time to move on.

If your still having beachball issues, what I suspect has occured (which a lot of people mistakenly do) is the hard drive got sectors damaged when the computer was moved/bumped while it was in operation.
The fix for this (and anything else) is rather drastic, all user data off the Macintosh HD will have to be removed, the entire partition Disk Utility > Erase with Secure Zero (or middle selection option), OS X reinstalled and updated, programs reinstalled and files returned.

    Hello,
I'm currently using the Toshiba bluetooth stack, that came with the billionton BT Dongle, to manage my BT connections. The BT manager works fine, but I've noticed that TosOBEX.exe eats up my memory causing my PC to run slow. I figured it's the problem 'cause when I end TosOBEX.exe, my PC speed gets back to normal.
Is this normal? Or did I do something wrong?
    Thank you?

Is your bluetooth stack up to date ? If not update it.

  • OutlookSyncClient.exe with iTunes 7.3.2.6 Error Can't Sync

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes 7.3.2.6 and now everytime I go to sync my phone I get an error message from windoes that OutlookSyncClient.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. This error pops up each time for both calendar and contacts. I saw people have had this issue before with different versions of iTunes but I have not. I am using Microsoft Outlook 2007.
Here is what I tried so far:
    1) Removed iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Updater, Apple Mobile Device Support
    2) Rebooted
    3) Cleaned Registry
    4) Rebooted
    5) Fresh install of iTunes
That did not work, still received error.
So I tried the same above and tried to go back to the previous version of iTunes and now I still get the error, however I never got it before.
I checked my add-ins in Outlook and I only have one listed and it is "iTunes Outlook Addin". I was reading some other posts and I am not sure if I should have another one listed in there as well. I think that this is where my problem is but not sure how to fix it.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The new version of iTunes only leaves behind one add-in, so you are good to go.
You did a reinstall properly, so you are good there.
The most likely reason you are experiencing this error is because there is something in your PST file that Outlook doesn't like. It is a bug in iTunes, where iTunes cannot handle that situation gracefully and decides to quit. You can test this theory by trying to sync with a new PST file. I will post the instructions on how to do this at the end of this message. Try them, and you will at least know if that is your problem. Good luck.
    Troubleshooting Outlook Sync Problems
Many iPhone users have reported problems syncing with Outlook 2003 and XP (and other versions), and the reinstall of applications is not helping. Based on what I have read and my own experience, I have a theory.
My theory is that old recurring events, possibly created in an older version of Outlook and that you've had for a while, are causing the problem. It could also be new recurring events with weird recurrences (like the 4th weekday of every month). In any case, my money is on recurring events and some sort of corruption in the PST file that iTunes is simply not handling gracefully.
Deleting all recurring events will test this theory. However, this is ONLY a theory, so backing up your data before you try this might be a good idea.
Here is a simple test you can try.
Find the Outlook PST file that contains all your data.
In Outlook 2003, click on File / Data File Management. That will display where your Post Office (PST) file is. Click on "Open Folder" to open a Windows Explorer window showing the file. Then, close Outlook.
(If you are using other versions of Outlook, this Microsoft Knowledgebase Article explains how to find your PST file. The rest of this troubleshooting concept is the same).
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291636
Rename the file. This will make Outlook not be able to find it. Then restart Outlook.
Outlook will complain it cannot find the file, and open a browse window asking you to find it. Don't. Just create a new one by typing a name (like temp) in the Create/Open Personal Files windows, and hit enter. This will prompt you to create a new file. At this point, simply hit OK. Outlook may quit, so restart it again.
This will start Outlook with a brand new PST file. Now create a couple of sample contacts and calendar events, and sync.
    Does it work?
My guess is that it will. This could prove the sync process works, and that iTunes just doesn't like your PST file.
Next step is to go back to File / Data File Management and open the folder where your PST files are. Close Outlook and delete your temp file. Make a COPY of the original file. This is important, because working with a copy will ensure you have a backup you can go back to in case something gets messed up. Then restart Outlook.
Since you deleted the temp PST file, Outlook will again complain it can't find the file, and ask for you to create or open one. This time, rather than create a new one, open the COPY of the PST file you made.
Now, change the calendar view by clicking on View / Arrange By / Current View / Recurring Appointments. Select all the recurring appointments and delete them. Try to sync again.
Does it work? My guess is that it will. This will prove that a recurring appointment was causing the problem. You can try deleting just the yearly recurring appointments first, which I suspect are the culprit, but you can test different combinations if you like.
If none of this works, you can always delete all temp and copies of PST files and reopen your original one. You will be no worse off than when you started, but this at least gives you a chance to troubleshoot the problem. Good luck!

  • Cannot sync Calendar to new iPhone: OutlookSyncClient.exe error

Hello. I just got my 4GB iPhone yesterday and started experiencing Calendar synchronization problems immediately. Everything else syncs fine, just not the calendar. The error I get is:
"OutlookSyncClient.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I have researched and have already uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime, and Apple related software, ran a registry cleaner, made sure all iTunes folders (except playlist and music folder) were gone and reinstalled. No luck there.
I have also uninstalled Office 2007 and all Apple related software, reinstalled, no luck either.
    My PC is as follows:
    HP Pavilion m7650n
Windows XP Media Center Edition with SP2
    Intel Core Duo 2
    1.86Ghz
    2GB memory
    360GB hard drive
My iPhone has the latest update of 1.0.1 and I am running iTunes version 7.3.2.6, which I downloaded off of the Apple website this morning.
My calendar is a critical part of my life, I work full-time, constantly scheduling appointments with customers, and I do work on the side, so I really need this to work.
I am a PC technician so I am comfortable editing and manipulating my PC, so any and all suggestions are welcome!

I would suggest doing a PST swap to see if that helps. These are the instructions I typed up, but I use Outlooks 2003. Since you are tech savvy, you can figure them out for 2007.

    Hi,
Since there can be multiple reasons for this issue, you can
capture a manual dump of the wspsrv.exe process on TMG server or find some related logs to better analyze this issue firstly.
In addition, what have you done before you encountered that issue?
If you have any third-party programs installed, you can temporary disable them and restart the firewall service to see if the issue persists.

  • OutlookSyncClient.exe - Application Error

I really need some help. Since the latest version of iTunes, I can not sync my Outlook Calendar (using Outlook 2003). This is the message I keep getting:
"OutlookSyncClient.exe - Application Error" with a bunch of numbers then it says "The memory could not be "read."
I spent almost 2 hours with Tech support yesterday and we did everything...uninstall, reinstall, reset history, make sure no 3rd party add-ins were present, etc. EVERYTHING. After 2 hours tech support said Engineering is aware and there is NO fix right now. So my calendar is USELESS. Does anyone out there have a fix for this?
The only COM Add-Ins located in my box is, "iTunes Outlook Addin" that is it.
    HELP.

I had a similar issue with Outlook 2007. In short, this is what someone instructed me to do...and it worked. His name was Jason L. You may want to give this a try.
Try Resetting Sync History in iTunes, goto Edit>Prefrences>iPhone>Reset Sync History>Reset Sync History.
Goto the Info tab in iTunes> sync only calendars> advanced replace calendars on the iPhone, This will replace the calendars on the iPhone with calendars from the computer.
If the iPhone sync still gives the Mingling data error, make sure calendars in Outlook do not have blank titles as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306470
    Jason
Hope this helps. I know how frustrating this can be. Good Luck!
