Output 5.1 AC3 Audio from FCPX - Something's wrong...

My 85 minute project is in 5.1 surround. Plays nice on the timeline and I exported a master file which sounds fine. ProRes - LPCM 5.1 audio.
Now I need to make a DVD standard 480p with Dolby AC3 5.1. But when I output AC3 - either directly from FCPX or sending through Compressor, the channels are incorrect - ie, the audio comes out of the wrong speakers ( Dialog for example is in the left speaker).
I even tried the ProRes master file and the AC3 is screwed up from this. Any ideas anyone?

Using AME and the SurCode Plug-in, here's how the dialog screen looks for the Audio Tab in PrPro 2.0. It should be similar in CS4:
You do have the Minnetonka SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in, right?
Good luck, and hope that this is helpful.

PS - note that in the screen-cap, I have composited the dialog box, as though it fully displayed, with no need to scroll it. Depending on your display, you may need to scroll, and your scroll bars will look different from what you see here - just ignore that part of it.

  • Exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere Pro CS4

    Hi there,
I wonder if anybody can help me out with exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere CS4 version 4.1.0?
I have a 3min long HD 5.1 clip that I need to cut down to 60seconds and add fade transitions to. The final clip will be used in a media player with very specific spec - the clip needs to remain HD 1080p with a frame rate of 29.97 and a maximum CBR of 38. The audio must be 5.1 aac. The format can be mpeg 2 or h.264. The overall quality loss needs to be minimal.
Up to now I have been cutting up footage that only needs to be stereo and I found the best way to to this while keeping quality was to use Prem Pro and export as mpeg 2 1080p 29.97, quality:5, bitratre: CBR 38, audio as mpeg layer 2 (as these clips were stereo only). These clips played back fine and looked great so I wanted to keep the 5.1 clip process as close to this as possible.
So far all I have been able to get from Premiere Pro is an audio codec called DVD_LPCM which the media player will not recognise. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to 5.1 audio so I may be doing something obviously wrong...
    - I have purchased the 5.1 surcode codec and its activated.
    - I have started a new AVCHD (I need 1920x1080) 1080p 29.97  project with a 5.1 audio master
    - The orignal file is an mpeg which I have pulled into PPro and selected Clip > Audio > Breakout to mono
    - I take the 6 mono channels in the project panel and put them into thier own mono tracks in the sequence.
    - the video I use is the original mpeg with the 5.1audio muted in the sequence.
    - When i select each track in the project panel and go to Clip > Audio > Source channel mappings, I see that track has already been allocated a source channel. So I go to the Audio Mixer panel and adjust the 5.1 panners for each tyrack according to what the Source Channel Mapping window has told me - Audio 1 is is L, audio 2 is R, audio 3 is LS, 4 -  Rs, 5- C and 6- LFE
    - I cut the video and all the mono track to the 60seconds I need and export using these settings:
    Video - exactly as before
    Audio -
Format - Dolby Digital, Codec - SurCode, Audio Coding Mode: 3/1 (L, R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs - 5.1 Surround), LFE: on.
The clip exports with DVD_LPCM 5.1 audio. Is it to do with the AVCHD preset? Could anyone help me get aac? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

  • Premiere Pro Mac - VST & Audio Unit Support - Something is wrong....

I run PPRO on Mac Lion.
I AM aware of the fact that PPRO is a 64 bit application.
Adobe does NOT seem to be aware of the fact that most audio plugs are 32 bit.
Reason for this is that there is very little need for a simple Compressor or EQ to be able to address more than 2GB of RAM ;-)
So most professional DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) which are 64 bit IMPLEMENTS a bridge that allows the app to use 32 bit Audio Effects.
I own and operate a recording studio and beta test for a lot of VST/AudioUnit vendors. None of them (the important ones) are planning 64 bit, anytime soon.
So either I am missing the obvios and I CAN use 32 bit VST/Audio Units in PPRO on Mac ---- Or adobe needs to address this ASAP.
If not, well anyone relying on audio effects will have to NOT edit his audio in PPRO ????
I hope I am missing the totally obvious, I mean, ALL other NLEs have GREAT solutions for Audio Effects - In PPRO I am confined to the adobe audio effects which are not really on par with professional audio plugs.
    Any advise would be nice....

This is from page 326 of the PrCS5 user guide:
Premiere Pro supports the Steinberg VST (Virtual Studio Technology) audio plug-in format so that you can add VST audio effects from third-party vendors. Premiere Pro includes VST plug-in effects that are available in both the Audio Mixer and the Effect Controls panel. Track-based VST plug-ins may provide additional controls. Apply VST effects the same way you apply other audio effects to tracks or clips. In the Effects And Sends panels of the Audio Mixer, VST effects appear in the Effect Selection menus. In the Effects panel, they appear in the Audio Effects bin so you can apply them to individual clips. In most cases, VST effects appear in the Audio Effects bin and track type that corresponds to the number of channels the effect supports. For example, stereo VST effects appear in the Audio Mixer track effect menus for stereo tracks only, and in the Stereo bin in the Audio Effects bin in the Effects panel. After you apply any VST effect, you can open a window with all of its controls. You can leave multiple VST editor windows open as long as you want, such as when automating effects, but Premiere Pro closes all VST editor windows when you close the project. If you previously installed a VST-compatible application other than Premiere Pro, Premiere Pro finds VST effects in the VST folder that already exists. Inside the Plug-ins folder of the Premiere Pro application folder, there is also a VSTPlugins folder with plug-ins that are used only by Premiere Pro.
However, I have never gotten my VST effects to even show up in Pr Mac.  They do work in Au (also FCP, STP and MOTU DP), so I conclude it's a bug, or an undocumented and/or unavowed disimplementation.
I wish they did work, because I like to us PSP Vintage Warmer on VO tracks.  I've learned to get by with the Multiband Compressor, or send to Audition.

  • AC3 audio not compressing properly

I am compressing under the DVD selection. Everything was working great, until today. The compressor audio output for the AC3 audio has changed (different icon like a itunes file) and the DVD shuts down when I try to import the asset.
I cannot preview the audio. I went back and looked at earlier projects and I could always preview the audio in Finder. Any suggestion? I need to deliver the DVD on this project in 4 days. Help!
    Thanks!

Presuming you are making an SD DVD you will most likely need to lower your video data rate.
If compressor is giving you problems this could be done in DSP.
Preferences/Encode/ If your show is under 70 minutes I would do average 6.5/max 7.7 and motion est. -best / background encoding. If your source is longer duplicate compressor data rates based on length settings. Drag your source movie from FC into assets.
This will create a MPG folder where your project is. Create an AC3 from the aiff and see how that works. Mac DVD player app is a good way to check and see how your burned disc will look. Build/check/burn from DSP or Toast.

  • IOS 6.1.2 STILL does not fix massively distorted and compressed audio from videos

I bought an iPad to show prospective clients my video and audio recording services.
Ever since changing to iOS 6 the audio from all the videos that I have put on the iPad are completely
distorted and overly comressed. The slightest bass note and everything is garbled beyond belief.
The same videos on my iPhone 4 sound wonderful as they should, but the same videos on the iPad
are completely wasted. Playing the sound through the built in speaker of the iPad proves good, but
the headphone output is horrible. Audio from other sources is clean and undistorted.
I spoke to Apple Care about six times, and two different Senior Advisors neither of which did anything for me.
I had the local Apple store replace the iPad but that made no difference.
I now have two iPads and they both have the same exact issue.
It's just pathetic that Apple has not addressed this.
    Dan

Addressed an issue that only you seem to be having?
Apple offers great service but not this personalized.
I have never had this issue and I transfer or watch a lot of video to my iPad.

  • No ins and outs from FCPX

    Hello,
First of all:  I'm a new to Logic Pro and just want to mix my Audio from FCPX which I think I will be able to handle.
I've exported an XML from FCPX and import it in Logic Pro X.
Now my problem is that some audio clips are longer than the selected range in FCPX.
With other words I do not have the in and outs I had selected in Final Cut. I have the whole Take with the clap etc.
    What did I miss?

I don't think anyone has had a successful XML transfer either to or from Logic and FCPX. The XML transfer programming needs to be improved.

  • How can l get audio only from my Apple TV 3 to output through Iphone 5 using Airplay or something else so l can watch my Apple TV and listen to it through my iphine headphones without waking the family at night

I am wanting to remotely listen to the audio form my Apple Tv3 (about 13feet away).
I would normoally jusy plug in a headphone extension cable into the TV but it does
not have a headphone output jack.
I was thinking it would be the best option to simply have the audio stream to my iphone 5
thus allowing me to watch my Apple TV late at night without waking the family,
I was wanting to use the iphoine 5 as the audio sort of like a remove headphone reciever.
If l could get airplay ro play the audio from the ATV3 to the iphone5 then my guess is that
would be the best solution.  Basically use the iphone 5 as an Airplay receiver / server.
Any other alternative would be great to hear.  Any solution that gives me good quality sound
without cables running all over the family room.

Not possible. Audio can be output to airplay enabled speakers via ATV settings and then headphones connected to them.

  • Multi-Channel output audio from Quick Time (or iTunes)

    Hello all,
I am trying to get multi-channel AC3 audio output from QT and can only get two channel stereo. I have seen lots of related posts but can't quite get it.
I am trying to configure a Mac Mini to output properly via the TOS link port to my audio system. I get surround sound fine playing a DVD but not when playing a .m4v file that does give me surround sound when played on my Apple TV.
    Should this be possible?

I appreciate the link Brent! I also had someone point me here http://fplanque.com/dev/mac/ac3-ac-3-5-1-surrond-sound-apple-mac-osx and all is good now.
    Thanks!

  • Removing easy connect audio from output sources

I'm not sure where it came from, but I have an option for "easy connect audio" in my sound output settings. For some reason, the computer continuously reverts to this, and even though I've deleted the audio pref. files, it won't seem to go away. Any ideas on how to remove this pesky, non-exsistant speaker?

You probably got easy connect audio from easy connect, a remote desktop application.
The problem is that it's a kernel extension, so you won't just be able to delete it, at least i couldn't locate it.
If you want to delete it, do the following.
    1) get the easy connect install package(search for the easy connect application)
    2) begin the install process, until the part where you have accepted the license agreement
    3) choose custom install
    4) uncheck easy connect
    5) choose a different location for AnteceaAudioDriver, i recommend an empty folder on the desktop.
    6) under the custom install window, the action should now say upgrade under the "Action" header, hit install
    7) On your desktop in the folder you specified for install, you will now find a file called AnteceaAudioDrv.kxt or something similar, DELETE it and your troubles are over!

  • I need to output a PAL HDV project from FCP as a PAL DV file with 4 audio t

I need to output a PAL HDV project from FCP as a PAL DV file with 4 audio tracks - specifically one stereo pair to be t1&t3, the other stereo pair to be t2&t4. This is the standard way requested by an international distributor of tv programmes. I understand how to set the sequence in FCP to output 4 audio tracks - either 2 stereo pairs (1&2, + 3&4), or 4 discrete tracks. But how do I then output this as a QT file?
The manual tells me that to export multiple audio tracks, File>Export>QT Movie has it's Config pop-up menu in the Audio Settings area of the General tab of the Sequence Settings. Well, that's set for 4 discrete channels, but the QT export settings only allow for 2 mono or 1 stereo output, and that's what I get when I try it. What it says in the manual just doesn't happen.
Exporting via Compressor, on the other hand, has an abundance of choices of 4-track outputs, none of which are labelled as anything resembling 'discrete'. Would any of those 4.0 settings suffice? Or am I likely to get myself into difficulties further down the line? As I am monitoring for this task on a 2-track audio system, I cannot confirm exactly what I am getting when I use any of those settings.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    John

Call me naive, but I've not heard of splitting the stereo pairs like this before.
What broadcaster? (perhaps one of our EU regulars will drop in...)
You can do all sorts of pairing but it is coincident tracks pairing- eg 1/2 + 3/4
    Sorry I can't offer anything.

  • Simultaneous audio from outputs 1-2 and outputs 3-4?

    Hi guys,
How do I get simultaneous audio from outputs 1-2 and outputs 3-4? I'm running Logicpro 7.1 through an M-Audio FW 410 hardware interface.
I'm trying to set things up so I can monitor through my mixing board to eleminate the weird echo sound you get in your headphones when recording.
I thought I could do it in logic by creating an ouput 1-2 and output 3-4 channel strip where ouput 3-4 will have the "i/o" plugin and in the plugin settings, Out would be set to 3-4 and input set to 1-2, this way sound will always come out of output 1-2 which will go to my speakers and output 3-4 to my mixing board. Please help!

I'm trying to set things up so I can monitor through my mixing board to eleminate the weird echo sound you get in your headphones when recording.
The 'weird echo sound' is because you are hearing Logic's software monitoring alongside direct monitoring of the inputs (either via the interface, or your mixer, depending where the headphones are plugged in.)
You can avoid this by setting the monitoring level on the record-enabled track to zero. (recording tracks have two level settings. Normal playback and record input monitoring. See page 282 in the Logic Pro reference manual.) It will not affect your record levels, or your input metering.

  • No audio from HDMI output because High Definition Audio Driver cannot start (Envy 17 Quad)

Ever since I first bought this laptop two months ago, the audio from the HDMI output has always been inconsistent. I remember it working a couple times, but there were more times when my audio driver didn't recognize that an HDMI cable was plugged in. Yes, I tried all the obvious: shutting down computer, checking disabled devices in Playback Devices, reinstalling drivers, etc. Now, when I plug an HDMI cable in, the video comes out fine but the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC does not recognize HDMI/my TV. The High Definition Audio Driver says it cannot start, but I could not reinstall nor find a download from HP's website. How can I get audio through HDMI to my TV??

  • How to change output video resolution.  I have 1920x1080 video but sharing from FCPX only allows 640x480.  I want 1920 output.  How can I resolve this?

I have 1920x1080 video file that I edited.  When I attempt to share the edited file from FCPX, it only allows 640x480 output resolution.  I want 1920 output.  How can I resolve this?

    Hi,
Final Cut will output the video at the resolution of your project's timeline.
You can change the settings and scale your project up though by adjusting the sequence settings and then, if necessary, copying and pasting attributes to scale up the sequence.
I had this question before and made a video explanation of how to re-scale a sequence here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=***9d-rHsKo&feature=youtu.be .
If you have any more questions about this then just drop me a message here.
    Cheers,

  • After I detach audio from the video, and I go to delete the video portion but keep the audio, it deletes both. Am I doing something wrong?

    Hello Everyone!
I would appreciate your support if you can. I know how to detach the audio from a video clip. Once this is done I wanted to add another video shot (B-roll) over the audio I detached. When I go to delete the video (which is detached form the audio) It deletes both of them automatically.
Is there something I am doing wrong? Do I need to unpin the audio somehow?
    Thanks again.
