Hi Gurus,
In SAP, what is the difference between Outputs or Print Layouts and Reports?
In Financial Accounting, What all can be the Outputs or Print Layouts?

Layouts are developed with the help of SAPScripts or smartforms. While reports can be developed using normal ABAP Programming.
As said in the previous reply, the layouts have a set of windows (or say structure) for placement of address, body of the content , line items etc. E.g. As pointed in dunning, the address occupies top right position, body of the message in the main part, followed by line item details. These structural way of representing the information are termed as 'Forms'.
While reporting is a normal representation of information in tabular or tree view form (E.g ALV forms).
In financial Accounting,
Dunning - Layout
Vendor display , customer display, G\L display - ALV reports - these are iterative i.e on dbl clicking the line item, it leads to subsequent report.

Logserver output and report generation
Hi All,
I am trying to view the daily reports in merchandising workbench.
Following are the steps which I followed:
- Checked the checkboxe for daily reports in Merchandising workbench -> Application Settings -> Report generation
- Copying the logserver output files from ./logs/logserver_output to ./reports/input.
- Running DailyReportGenerator component from Merchandising workbench -> EAC Administration -> Admin Console
After these steps, I am able to view the reports.
But my question is that do we have to copy the logserver output files to input folder of reports everytime or does this automatically copy when DailyReportGenerator runs?
Also when does DailyReportGenerator runs? Does it run after every baseline we run or does it run once in a day automatically or do we have to run this manually from EAC admin console.
Can somebody provide a clear insight of the whole process of integrating log server files with report generation?

When I checked, wget_http-127-0-0-1-17002-roll.log file, it stated that wget utility is not present in bin folder:

So I checked bin folder, wget utility was missing.
But when I ran DailyScripts manually, it ran successfully. I am bit confused in the working of script.(In this case also, wget was missing)

Problem printing more than 255 characters in report output and in the spool
Hi Guys,
I am trying to print one file in the report output and in the spool but it's priting till 255 characters only. If I try the samething while writing in application server and in peresentation server it is printing full content. I am giving the line size in the REPORT statement as more than 255 like 300 but even it is not printing. How can i print the full contents. Whether it is any basis related issue or in any settings can we do that. please advice.

Output mismatch between BEx query output and WebI Report output
Hi All,
I have a BEx query in which there are only characteristics placed in rows.
There are combinations of the values of the characteristics giving different records in the query output.
Date is one of the characterisctics in the query output.
There is an output mismatch between the query output and the WebI report output in the following case:
When there are 'Not Assigned' or '#' or blank values, there are additional entries(rows) in the WebI report, giving repeating or wrong entries in the Date field. This is incorrect data.
Is this because of the 'Not Assigned' or '#' or blank values of the Characteristics or is there any other reason?
How do I fix this?

I need to verify the WebI report output for records with # and 'Not assigned' values for the cHracteristics in the report.
So I cannot check the WebI report by hiding the # or Not assigned values.
The problem is that in the Query output the records are like these shown below:
Char1 CHar2 CHar3 Date field
A B C Date1
#(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) No value
Where as the WebI report output is as below:
Char1 CHar2 CHar3 Date field
A B C Date1
#(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) Date1
As shown here, there are wrong/repeating entries for the Date field in the WebI report output.
Please check this and let me know what could be the issue and how do I fix it.

How to zip report output and send via mail from application
Hello,
I want to know how to zip the report output and send it by mail to concerned person from application
I want this as the report is having more than 70000s of records.
Also the XLS has the limitation of 2^16 records and the report is having more than this

Vani1: Make a Dummy report. From some post parameter form trigger, run your original report with "srw.runreport" call. The original report can generate output to a file.
2: Then withing this dummy report run, call a user exit to zip the
original reports output. You need to write this user exit and attach them
with reports.
3: Now use Report 9i distribution for this dummy report to sent this external zip file through mail.

CDR analysis and reporting output translation
Is there an easy was to translate CDR data into something easily understood?
I had to pull the to/from call records for a particular extension during a certain month long time frame and parse it by hand in excel to clean it up sorted by date/time so that a non technical staff member could understand it without me translating. Some one suggested Cisco VLT but I don't think it's for this kind of dataI assume you mean you got CDR flat files, VLT is not for that. It's for CUCM traces.
You can use CAR to create reports.
You don't mention version so I'll provide the latest one:

Migrating Oracle forms and reports from 6i to 10g Application server on Uni
HI Guys,
We are migrating from Oracle forms and reports 6i to 10g.
We will be having application server on Unix box.
I understand following will be the changes i will have to do in this respect -
1. Fonts are to be revisited only Java fonts are supported.
2. Obsolete items, function calls, triggers are to be removed.
My question is since this application can be cross platform application,
Can anyone provide me with changes that I will have to do with configuration files like -
1. Formsweb.cfg,
2. forms.conf
3. default.env
4. registry.dat
Keeping in mind that the application server will be on unix box.

Av.Java fonts are only supported for the Forms version.
You can use your own fonts for Reports however, there is some legwork to do this. I know because I just went through it.
If you will only being using the PDF output (which for me replaced the Preview mode that existed in 6i), then you have to install the TTF for the missing font, an AFM (use the ttf2pt1 utility to generate the AFM file, but make sure you remove the AFM extension when moving it to Unix). You'll want to use the PDF Subset in the uifont.ali (which exists under the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin directory and add the line underneath the PDF Subset "Font Family Name"="TTF Font Name" The font family name is found when you open the AFM file in textpad or wordpad for the font you generated. This is what you enter. The TTF Font Name is the name the TTF font. You'll have to restart Reports Server after this.
If printing to the printer directly is an option you must have, I will tell you it does not work in Linux right now. You can print to the printer but if the font doesn't exist on the internal memory of the printer, it won't work. There are 3rd party utilities like ORARRP and PDFPrint that can take care of this but, each has its own limitations. The one thing I found with ORARRP is if you generate a Report with an RRPA file extension and open it on Windows, it works great, the printer dialog comes up asking you what printer you want to print too. However, if you call this in Linux/Unix with the filename, it brings it up in the web browser but doesn't prompt you for your printer to print too automatically. So, for me, it's a show stopper. My only other option is to install the fonts on the printer that are missing.
As for the files you want to change, you'll obviously have to make changes to the formsweb.cfg, default.env, forms.conf. I have to modify the reports.sh for some PL/SQL attached libraries to make sure it picks them up. I did have to modify Registry.dat.
There is alot of work but mainly forms wasn't too bad, unless you had fonts that weren't supported. Usually there is another font that you can use to replace the old one but you have to know which fonts exists on the server and try all the keys on the keyboard to find the corresponding keystroke.

To The best of my knowledge it is not possible directly.
You have to design the smartform with all the fields in the report.
And u have create the driver program for the Smartform or u can use the report as a driver program itself.
Then Call the smartform using FM SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME to call the smartform.

Looks like there is a 127-column limit on the number of report columns supported when using that wizard. Do you have more than that?

you have to use Reports Server called from RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(). Please see the Reports Integration whitepaper on otn.oracle.com/products/forms. You can either look it up in the Forms 10g collateral seciton or the Forms 9i collateral section.

Retention Policy and report/delete obsolete
The database is Oracle 9i on Solaris 8 Platform.
The backup of datafiles and archivelog files use tape and run every night.
The backups should be held for two weeks therefore using RMAN retention policy with REPORT / DELETE OBSOLETE will be the apropiate method. Unfortunatelly somehow none of the two methods of retention policy RECOVERY WINDOW or REDUNDANCY don't seem to work. The big question is WHY?
I configured the retention policy using:
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 7
Then ALLOCATE CHANNEL FOR MAINTENANCE DEVICE TYPE sbt;
I ran CROSSCHECK BACKUP with a correct output and then REPORT OBSOLETE. The report displays all existing backups - (SYSDATE-2)!
If using RECOVERY WINDOW OF 7 DAYS then the obsolete report displays the list of backups - (SYSDATE-1).
Somehow whatever number I use (7/9/5)in any of the retention policy the result is identical with the one above!Really I do not know if there is a limitation regarding that aspect if you take the backups in tapes directly. I have implanted and I have seen it function well when backups are store directly in disk.
Find out here if that is a limitation.
