    Hi,
Similar to PDF and Text output, Is it possible to display Excel Output In browser itself.
Whenever we try to view the report where the output type is excel, the output opens in Excel Desktop version.
We have a requirement where we need the output to be displayed in browser itself.
I have tried modyfing the Viewer profiles but was not able to get the desired result. We are currently working on E-Business Suite 11g.

  • Open PDF-Output in browser window with full height

    Hi,
I must open some BIP-Reports as PDF in a browser window via URL. The problem ist, that the height of the PDF-Output is fixed, as the PDF is shown in an iframe with fixed height.
The height can be set in the BIP preferences, but only to a fixed value (not to something like "100%"). If the height is smaller than the users browser window, then there is unused space below the pdf output. If the height is greater than the users browser window, there are two scrollbars to the right: One for the html-Page and one for the PDF.
    I tried the following options:
    1. http://<bip-server:port>/xmlpserver/public/<report-name>.xdo?_xmode=4&_xf=pdf
-> Output is PDF, only the PDF is shown (_xmode=4), opens in same browser window but height is limited.
    2. http://<bip-server:port>/xmlpserver/public/<report-name>.xdo?_xmode=4&_xf=pdf&_xpt=1
-> PDF is not opend in browser window, but can be downloaded or opened in a separate PDF-Viewers window.
I would like to just open the PDF in the browser window in full height. How can I achive this?

    Hello Yesh,
you can open PDFs as a guest user (without authentification):
    1. Allow Guest Access (Admin -> Security Configuration -> Check "Allow Guest Access" and select a folder name).
    2. Copy your Report into this guest folder
    3. You can open the Report as PDF with a link like this:
    http://(bip-server-name):9704/xmlpserver/(guest-folder-name)/(report-name)/(report-name).xdo?_xpt=0&_xf=pdf&_xmode=4(&report-parameters)
Just replace the strings in brackets. You find a great description of the URL parameters in Tim Dexters Blog
    http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2006/07/accessing_xmlp_enterprise_repo.html
I didn't find an option to set the height of the PDF-Output for the guest user in the BIP-UI. Maybe I missed something. But you can manually edit the configuration file. It is located on your BIP server direcory in the subdirectory xmlp/XMLP/Users. Select the guest users subdirectory and edit the configuration file "user~.profile".
In this XML config file there is an entry "viewerHeight". In the Value-Tag you can enter the PDF output windows height in pixel (but unfortunaly not in % - this was the question of my original posting).
    Hope that helps...

  • Opening PDF Output in browser

    Hi ,
When I send a request to Report Server via WEB DB listener for PDF output report, it is generating 2 requests while opening the PDF output in the browser. If you make PDF browser integration off, it opens in Acrobat Reader properly with single request only. Has anybody come across such problem? Your help in this regards is appreciated. Thnaks in advance
    Aniruddha.

    To clarify what you posted:
When opening the PDF document, your browser closes. When pressing the control key and opening the document, you get a dialog window (with the choices of open or save). What happens when you select open?
This is browser behavior, nothing to do with this being a PDF file. Which browser and which platform? If you are using IE7, popup blocker is automatically enabled, and if you are viewing this on a 2003 server, you have server security settings to override. Pressing the control key allows popups.

    Dear Hamdy,
    Hope You are fine.
I have some strange problems running Oracle 10gR2 Forms and Reports Services(WIthout a Patch) on Windows 2000(P4.1.5GRam) with Oracle Database 10gR2 on RHEL 4.0(P3Xeon,2GRam).
Users are using WindowsXp 2002 or Higher.
    Other Info about Setup
1). One more OC4J Instance was created but could not solve problem.
    2). Report Servers min 3 Max 10.
There is a frequently accessed Form related to Voucher Entery and its Report.
1). Sometimes records more than 20 detail enteries could not be saved and after refreshing the webbrowser(Internet Explorer 6 or higher) the user is able to insert a large voucher. This is very trouble for the data entery operators.
2). Other is that, Sometimes user is working on application but control losses from user(ability to work with application) where as there can work on applications and window services. This is also very problem for a user when he has entered 10 detail records against a voucher.
3). The Application is also being accessed from other cities by using public IP.
These Problems are very strange for me.

  • Browser closing when opening PDF output in Apps

    Hello,
When opening the concurrent request/report output (for PDF output), the browser just closes.
The PDF output were generated thru XML Publisher (reports converted in XML Publisher - rtf).
PDF is defined in the Viewer Options/ System Options(Viewer). I could open PDF output by
pressing CTRL key while clicking on the output request Output button. It will give prompt on
whether to Open or Save the PDF.
Not sure if it's really related to XML Publisher, maybe more on concurrent request, but idea
    will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Excel Output for Standard Reports using XML Publisher

    Hi All,
Customer wants to get Excel Output for the existing Standard/Custom Reports using XML Publisher. I followed the following procedure.
    1. Changed the output to XML for Concurrent program ( Trial Balance - Detail )
    2. Used the Existing seeded Template
    3. Ran the Report using EXCEL as the output.
When I clicked on View Output, I am not able to see the Excel output. I am seeing the HTML tags in the output window. Verified that Viewer Options existed for Excel as follows:
    File Format=Excel, Mime Type=application/vnd.ms-excel.
When I ran the report with PDF output. I can see the PDF output.
Ran the HTML output with new Viewer Option ( File Format=HTML, Mime Type=application/vnd.ms-excel) then I can see the output in Browser in the Excel format. I did this test after going through the Metalink Note: Note:316752.1
My question is.. Do I need always choose the HTML ouput in the options window to trigger the Viewer option for HTML. Customer may not like this idea. He would like to choose the Excel Output and see the output in Excel format either in the Browser or Microsoft Excel.
Can someone in this situation before help me out.
    Thanks,
    V

    Questions rephrase:
    1. Is the output is same for HTML and Excel options ?
    2. Why the output is viewable with HTML option and not with Excel option ?
Customer has XML Publisher Version 5.0.1 and in the process of applying 5.6.1

  • Oracle Report, How to Display Polish Characters in a PDF Output

    Environment :
Oracle Application Server version 10.1.2.0.2 on Red Hat 4 Enterprise (Kernel 2.6.9-42.0.3 , 32 bit) Oracle Database Version 10.2.0.3.0 Our character set of database is UTF8
I have trouble to display polish characters in Reports Output. We develop on Windows XP machines. I can see the Polish Caharacters in the Reports Builder using several fonts (arial, arial unicode, Times new roman, verdana...) during design time or when running with the paper layout. But when the report deployed to application server running on the linux, the polish characters are replaced by symbols.
Even under Windows, when I select 'generate to a PDF' file option, the characters are not displayed correctly (When I open the generated PDF file with Acrobat reader and go to Document Properties / Fonts, I see the Fonts are always replaced with Adobe Sans MM)
Using the Forms Applications running on the same application server we have no trouble dealing/displaying with the characters (Ąą ĆćĘę Ł ł ŃńÓóŚ ś Ź ź Ż ż ß Đ đ € )
NLS_LANG setting is AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 on the Linux Box and AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1250 is on the Development machines. (have tried a number of different NLS_LANG settings on the development box as well with no luck).
    Any direction would be appreciated.

    Hi,
You have several different approaches to fix this problem. First of all, you would be able to generate the PDF output with Font Subsetting setup and be able to see the Polish characters correctly when running the output with destype=cache&desformat=pdf. The following metalink documents would guide you with this setup :
Note.207711.1 "How to Use Font Subsetting in Reports 9i and 10g for PDF Output"
As at design time you use many different Windows specific fonts, I also advice you to check the following document :
Note.356221.1 "A Practical Methodology on Porting Reports from Windows to Unix with Different Fonts"
Once the PDF output is generated properly with correct characters, then if you need to use "destype=printer" for direct print, rather than "destype=cache" to display the output in browser, then you can use the "PDFPrint" pluggable destination, which is located in :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/pluginxchange/index.html

  • How to access PDF file in Browser

    Hi All,
I am using Oracle Application 11.5.10.2 and i want to display a pdf file in the output of browser which is stored in the location "/USR/TMP" of Application server.
This is default path of "UTL_FILE_DIR" which is set.
In this path a pdf file is there ie; abc.pdf
So i want to display this pdf file in Output front end.
what i have done is Written a sql script embedded html in that
    code is as follows:
    DECLARE
    str varchar2(1000);
    BEGIN
/*********** Determines the mime type for the document to be displayed***********/
    select '<html>
         <body leftmargin=0 topmargin=0 scroll=no>
         <embed width=100% height=100% fullscreen=yes
         src="/usr/tmp/abc.pdf">
         </body>
         </html>'
    into str
    from dual;
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,str);
    EXCEPTION
    when others then
    FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.LOG,SQLERRM);
    END;
But if in (src="/usr/tmp/abc.pdf">) if i am giving local path
    ie;(src="file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Desktop/abc.pdf">
the pdf is displayed in output.
Can anyone help me out for the best possible solution for this.
    Thanks!!

Can you open the pdf file in the reader without downloading it?
ie is the file form.pdf a valid pdf file?
How big a PDF are we talking about here? Rather than reading the whole thing into memory, I would suggest you stream things a little.
You are doing this in a servlet right? Not a JSP?
JSPs can add extra carriage returns, and thus corrupt the file you are sending.

  • Why don't our links work in browser based help?

We are using RH8, Windows 7 and outputting to browser based AIR help.
We cannot get our links to work in browser based air help. These are links between projects. Links within projects work fine.
We output our help and it worked fine on our test system. We tested it on another system and it worked fine.
However, when we attached it to our application, the links between projects did not work.
We think it might have something to do with the address, which looks something like this
    http://199.166.111.177/smartc/smartsol/mgproj/ etc. etc.
When we set up the links they were set to something like this
    ../../../smartc/smartsol/mgproj/ etc. etc.
We are thinking this might be the problem.
Our question is - is there a universal naming convention that will allow us to publish our help anywhere.
We don't put our help on a server and have people access it that way. We provide the help file and let the user put it anywhere they want.
I may not be saying this correctly.
    any help is appreciated.
    Pat

I'm having a similar problem, if I understand the original question, in accessing my AIR help from a server ...
    Background:
In RH8 html, I've been creating a Web Help project have successfully integrating it into our product for a couple of years now (thanks to all on the forum who've helped me with bugaboos along the way, Peter et al!). The project is bundled in with our software and pushed out to our hardware device (let's call it a router) and the user can access their router's UI via a custom path and use the help when needed from their home network and remotely.
Today I've been looking at changing over to an AIR help end product to replace the Web Help project. In my initial tests, using the exact same project I'm using for the Web Help, when I push the AIR help out to my test bed I see a blank page when I access it. I'm using the same path and same files and have flushed my browser cache. When I build it, it is set as a "Browser Based Help". My thinking is something along the lines of certificates / security etc. but don't know and don't see a setting.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!
    Update:
I may have a solution ... a developer noticed that in one of the .js files a file names "AC_OETags.js" was listed with caps. If you are running apache on your server it will not like the capitalization in referenced in the file (the actual name of the file can have caps). Once the link to the file was made lower case the help system worked as designed.
    Good luck everyone.

  • Pdf links in standalone output

pdf and html links in standalone output should stop course
from playing as a user clicks the button to access the pdf in a new
window. I have deselecetd the continue playing project and the
project still plays while the user has the window open. I have
another link to a movie file that stops the course and plays the
video fine. How can I get the other links to work?

Standalone is actually displaying your movie in Flash Player,
and if your target is another movie, it simply closes Flash Player
and reopens it with the next movie.
This is not the case with links to PDFs or web pages. They
won't play in the Flash Player ... they want to display in the
user's browser window. So you are actually "mixing" the display
vehicles with what you are trying to do.
I guess my advice is to use the default Captivate output, the
browser, by publishing your output as SWF / HTM files. That's not
the answer you wanted, Lynn, but it is my best advice, because I
know of no way to get Flash Player to produce pop-ups in Flash
Player ... those pop-ups will aways be browser popups, to the best
of my knowledge, so you can't really do what you are trying to do.
I am copying this as the Reply to your email asking this same
question, to save myself the time required to retype it.
