Output level low? 3rd Gen compared to new 60Gb

I had a 40Gb 3rd Gen and the volume levels with the same settings and same playlists are WAY lower with the new 60Gb Video when connected to my ICElink in the Audi. What used to be played at 18 (on the audi deck) now has to be played at more then 22. Anybody else have this? Any fix?

It a good Idea to also set Sound Check to = ON in your
ITunes program.>
Go to ITunes; Edit; Preferences and then select Playback>
Enable Sound Check;
Download or copy new program from CD and see if your levels are OK;

Hooking apple tv 3rd gen to a new Dell projector

Hello, I purchased a 3rd gen apple tv so I could hook it up to a new dell projector (sorry cant remember model). Set up was fine and I was able to tap into the wifi at my work. The only problem is there is no computer to tap into and I wasnt able to mirror my iphone or ipad on it. When I went to home sharing and put in my itunes name and password it didnt accept it. Any ideas what's up. I purchased the apple tv so i can mirror my ipad for presentations and avoid all the cables. Thank you for any help.

Somewhat the same as vazandrew, I don't know, haven't tested it, but since thunderbolt supports both HDMI and HDCP, I'd be inclined to think it would be OK. Of course you'd also need to make sure the resolution of the Apple Tv output was supported.

Hooking Up Windows Formatted 3rd Gen iPod To New Macbook

I have a 3rd Gen iPod which I was using with my windows pc. I have now bought a macbook and wanted to know can I use the iPod with it?
I tried installing the installer cd on the mac but it said something about requiring some networking plug in.
Also can one single iPod used with both PC and Mac?

Macs can read Windows formatting so you just need to connect your iPod to start using the iTunes library. However if your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your new computer and a different iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys, (on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer.
To keep your iPod Windows formatted you'll have to carry out any software updates or restores from the PC. Updating or restoring on the Mac will change the formatting.

Sound output level low.

I have a newer 5th generation Ipod. My old Ipod had and output level adjustment. When I dock my new Ipod I have to turn the volume on my tv up rediculously loud to hear it. Is there any way to adjust the output level??

Charging 3rd gen. iPod w/new eqipment

I just bought a new 60-gig iPod photo and gave my 2 yr. old 30-gig iPod to my brother. I sent it out to him with the all the same equipment that came with the 30-gig model except for the firewire cable charger (which I chose to keep for speed reasons) and instead gave him the USB model that came with my new iPod (he runs windows and I run Mac, so at the time it made sense). Now he's saying that he can't get the cable that I sent him to charge the battery. Is this somehow incompatible?

I'm speaking of charging through the electric wall jack. The same system with every iPod delivered as far as I know, except for the fact that this plug mount has the USB connection as opposed to the firewire connection that it came with. And on a strange note... I sent the iPod via US Mail fully charged ( the battery was still holding 5-6 hour charges) and it showed up completely dead. Could they have shipped it in an unpressurized/non-temperature controled cabin that ruined the battery? I can understand cold temperatures depleteing the battery, but not killing it! Is it a cord/USB issue?

Transfering songs from Shuffle 3rd gen to new computer, old one crashed

I am not very tech savy.
I am trying to transfer my songs from my IPOD shuttle 3rd gen to my new computer.
The old computer crashed and is gone. New one is OS Windows 7. Old one was XP Professional (not sure if it matters). I keep charging the IPOD , but cannot add to the songs. How do I do it ? I tried downdloading programs, but just get confused.

Denon AVR 591 stereo output instead of 5.1 from new apple tv(3rd gen)

I have a setup such as:
aTV 3rd gen -> HDMI -> Denon AVR591 -> HDMI -> Sony KDL 40V5100
my speaker setup is a 3.1, 2 fronts, center and sub
i'm having trouble getting a 5.1 output when i'm streaming music from my imac through home sharing, and also netflix.
i do not have an extra optical port(used by my xbox) to bypass this issue, so i'm wondering if this is a known problem, or something wrong with my setup.
my PS3 run just fine in 5.1(multi ch.) when it streams the correct format through a single HDMI cable.
this is a brand new apple tv that i just got today from the mail, and hoping someone can shed some light in my problem.

I was only able to get 5.1 via optical, DTS was fine via HDMI.

How do I rent SD movies on my 3rd Gen Apple TV? I have changed the output resolution in Apple TV's setup to 720, but it didn't make any difference.

I returned my 14 month old 3rd Gen Apple TV to the Apple store today because it would no longer see my wireless network. Apple said that because of this problem, it was still covered under warranty, and gave me a new one. Took it home and went through all the setup screens. Even downloaded the latest software update. Everything else appears to be working fine, but I can't rent a movie in SD like I used to be able to. Everything I've read says that the settings is where I change that, but the one setting that I did find and change, under audio and visual, made no difference. What am I missing?

This problem has been solved by me. The settings under the Apple TV menu for audio/visual do adjust for the output to your screen either 1080 or 720, but don't have any effect on the iTunes purchases.
The solution is under the Apple TV menu option "iTunes Store". There you can choose from 1080 HD, 720 HD or 720 SD. Now my movie selections in iTunes do offer the SD option.

These may be different issues, but lets look at rentals first.
Poor motion can result from mismatched output. If your source is 24 or 30 fps you should set the output of the Apple TV to 60 Hz, for 25 fps content use 50 Hz.

Totally unresponsive and unrecognized by iTunes brand new iPod Touch 3rd gen

Within less than 24 hrs of setting up brand new 3rd gen iPod touch it is totally unresponsive. While using it, the screen went black, felt a little warmer than normal, and now won't do anything. I've tried resetting by pressing on/off and home buttons. Tried this even after plugging in to computer for 20+ min and still nothing. iTunes no longer recognizes it, so I cannot restore it. I am just stuck with a black screen with absolutely no response. I'm at a loss on what to do next or what might be wrong. Have been all over this site for a solution, but just can't seem to find one that helps me. Apple Stores are 3 hrs away from where I live. Very careful with the device, not dropped, not wet, just simply using it. Any help greatly appreciated... my son is devistated.

See if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore via iTunes.
Next would be an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
