Output other than avi?

I am working on a piece for a Youtube video and I see where Youtube (as far as i can tell) allows up to 2gig of video size. I'm not even half done with the composition (video), but if I render it at this point its around 1.2 gigs as an avi. First, is it possible to compress the video? Second, I see where Youtube suggests mpeg4 for outputs. Is this possible in AE, or what format is suggested for a Youtube video? Thanks again!!

Other than more temporal resolution, it's usually an aesthetic situation.
For some, even file size is a reason (1 second of video comprised of 24 frames will generally be smaller than 1 second of video comprised of 29.97 or 30).

Output other than quicktime?

I'm making graphics in Motion for a windows based editor (Newtek's VT4) and it doesn't read the quicktime files. Is there any way to export as or change these qt files to .avi? Also, the editor's overlaying the graphics so I need to preserve the transparent background... any help would be much appreciated.

What you want to do is stay out of the process. Give your editor the QT Animation files and make them do the conversion to their own format. Buy them QT if you have to but you do not want to be involved in trying to get them weird, obsolete, or useless codecs.
You could render to full res TIFF image sequence that should hold the alpha.

Getting report (rdf) output in different language format other than english

I have a report registered in apps with the output type as pdf.when i run it,the output comes in pdf but in a language other than english.
when i run the report in the reports builder the output in pdf comes in english.I am using EBS R12.

mls is the ability to run you application on different language like italian, russian ....
so if you want check how many lang do you have then

and is the lossless avi setting truly lossless? It's 20 MB for a 2 minute video.
Dynamic link to PP for final and only render is no doubt the best way to go but I want to explore this avenue.

Thanks, Mylenium. I was initially(and still am) taken aback by the 2 minute 20,000,000 KB rendered file which I mistakenly said in my initial post was 20MB but is 20,000 MB unless my math is wrong or the file shows up in the folder with a couple extra zeros. A 2 minute rendered file thats 20,000,000 KB doesn't make sense to me. The original file the 2 min clip is taken from is only 600,000 KB.
Regarding the render settings, I was refering to the Output Module dropdown choices in the render queue "Lossless" is the default but H.264, AVI DV NTSC 48kHz, etc... are the options listed. The 20,000,000 KB lossless file seemed ridiculously big for 2 minutes and I was trying to find out a comparable setting to the default "Lossless" without the large file size. Right now I'm confused as to why that rendered file is shown in the folder I rendered it to as 20,000,000 KB. That's huge!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

G5 won't boot other than 'safe mode'

I've got a first gen. G5 DP1.8 I use exclusively at work. My system locked two days ago, so I forced quit and restarted.
After that the system attempts to boot, then aborts. Came in yesterday morning and it fired up, fine. Restarted just to check it out and that was the last time it has booted in anything other than safe mode. I've reset the PRAM, NVRAM, PMU/SMU, repaired permissions, cache, all the usual stuff. I've tried removing startup items, etc. Seems to be a startup issue as the unit will boot in 'safe'. Finally out of frustration, I upgraded the OS to 10.3.8 thinking that could repair whatever startup issues, but no. I CANNOT get the machine to boot. I get the chime, booting screen, mac icon, and spinning, then it shuts down.

Apparently this has something to do with temp? The
machine will cold boot first thing in the morning
with no problem, but once it's been on for a couple
of minutes it will not restart (except in safe
mode).
It sounds like you have some component changing value with heat. It's hard to tell if it would be on the logic board or in the power supply though without swapping them out. It's strange it starts in safe mode though. Did you try resetting your open firmware?
Open Firmware reset: Hold the CommandOption+OF keys during startup. At the '>' prompt type:

Anything other than buttons on ALV Grid toolbar?

Does anyone know if anything other than buttons can be placed on a ALV Grid toolbar, eg. a piece of text or an input field? The filter button for data selection may be too cumbersome/slow for a call centre operator; I want to have a display field with a dropdown identifying a data field and an input field to accept a value on which to select.

may be you can do some thing like this..instead of having a input field on the toolbar. have an input field above the ALV grid(this is applicable only when you are using Object Oriented ALV).

you can have a button along with input field also. enter the value in it, and press enter . in the enter handling fetch all the data. and display in the ALV grid.

CACHE is the number of values Oracle stores in memory. So the first call to NEXTVAL Oracle grabs x numbers; subsequent calls to NEXTVAL are served from memory until they're all gone and them another bunch is grabbed. The attached sql*plus output demonstrates this behaviour.
Note that normally unused numbers in the cache are returned to the data dictionary but in exceptional circumstances (DB crash) they may be lost.

Does field point have pulse train output greater than 50KHz

I am trying to develop a flexiable simulator using NI Field Point. So far my only concern is producing a pulse train of around 500KHz. Is there a way to do this with field points counter moudles or with some other methodology

There are currently no FieldPoint IO modules that output greater than 16 kHz. Specifically, the following modules can output at the listed maximum frequencies:
FP-CTR-500: 16 kHz
FP-CTR-502: 16 kHz
FP-PWM-520: 1 kHz
FP-PG-522: 2 kHz
You could use some external signal generation circuitry that is controlled by the FieldPoint modules, but the FieldPoint modules themselves can not handle that speed.

MacBook Pro freezes when using any app other than the web browser.

My MacBook freezes when using any app other than the web browser. I can open up Google Chrome and use it all day with no problem, but if I minimize it and try to browse through photos in my picture folder or do anything that involves the Finder, the computer just freezes up and I get the rainbow wheel. If I put in a CD to play it, the computer freezes with the rainbow wheel. Any suggestions? I would like to use the mac for more things than the internet.

Does Final Cut Express Support Other Formats (Avi, MPEG, flv, etc)?

I'm relatively new to Final Cut and I'm pretty excited to give this baby a try. Anyway, I've got some videos to edit and I know this software supports Quicktime videos but what about other formats such as Avi, MPEG, FLV, etc.? Do I need to get a third party software to convert these videos or can Final Cut Express handle them automatically?
Also, when I want to edit a video and viewing it on the viewer (The screen next to the Canvas), the screen is all white when it's being paused or when I want to scroll it with the dial thingy. Why is that?

Final Cut Express 4 supports only DV, HDV and AVCHD (last one only on Intel CPUs) using the Apple Intermediate Codec.
On other than these formats, you can use Mpegstreamclip (www.squared5.com) to convert your files into one of those supported formats, DV or Apple Intermediate Codec (when using HD material).

Cant use anything other than 44.1KHz??

Whenever I set a project to anything other than 44.1KHz it sounds awful. My RME fireface card supports 44.1, 48, 88, 96, 192 (and anything in between using DDC thank you very much RME!). What do I need to do?

Based on the assumption that you are not clocking from an external source which is running at 44.1
Set your internal clock in the Audio Midi Setup program (it's in Applications>Utilities) to whichever clock you wish to use (set it at the Audio Input section and the output should toggle accordingly) then boot logic and change Logic's clock in the Audio pop down menu. This is kind of a boot up thing, if you have iTunes or Quicktime running your computer may not like you for changing the clock.

How can I create a line width 0 when using a line style other than solid?

Every time I select a line style other than solid,
the line width gets reset to 0. This makes for a
