Output Packet Discard Rate strange values

Hi,
I'm getting a lot of alerts regard to Interface High Discard Rate. When i went to see the Output Discard %, the value are not compressed between 0% - 100%. The values show in the following graphic are much higher than 100%.
These are not the expected values. Has anyone experienced the same problem? Does anyone have solution for this?
Thank you,
Rui

Hi,
We may need to get the performance data on the problemtic computer, and check whether the value equal to what we can see on this view.
In addition, as far as I can see, the value does not mean percentage, this should mean how many bits that was dropped per second.

• Output packets drops on Router interface

Hi,
As shown in attached diagram we have connected DC and site with two ISP.
RTR1 and RTR2 are in HSRP mode and RTR2 is active router for site
We are seeing packet drops on DC RTR2 interfece connected to Sprint MPLS.
We have a site with two isp (Sprint MPLS and P2P link). Site is running on Sprint ISP.
We are seeing out put errors on DC RTR2 Sprint interface,  when we failover site to P2P link from sprint.
And when fail over back to Sprint at site we are not seeing any output packets drops on DC RTR2 sprint link.

• High Discard rate on a FW interface

Hi,
I am getting alert on high discard rates on FW interfaces via a monitoring tool.  Just want to validate if the packets dropped by ACL's are also contributing to the high discard rate counter?  If this is the case what would be an acceptable threshold to set High Discard rate on FW interfaces to insure I do not miss an actual issue regarding high discard rate. "Interface::I-Interface_Performance_CiscoRouter_Ethernet-IF-XXX-XXXX-SEC/4::HighDiscardRate"

Hello,
Well, that would depend again of the enviroment you have there,
As an example I would not focus much on ACL drops logs ( as they are already being denied, altough it will let you know what traffic is trying to reach ur network) but the treshold would be way higher based on the fact that is common to drop a lot of traffic via an ACL.
But I do not have a specific treshold that I could provide as it will depend on the enviroment.

• Excise rate and value is not getting defaulted from the purchase order

Hi all,
While capturing excise invoice , the excise rate and value is not getting defaulted from the purchase order and in Excise Item Tab BED,AED,ECS is Zero at both header as well as item level for only one material in STO process and if we are doing same process taking other material all things are coming perfectly and We are maintaining condition with respect to vendor, plant and material combination.Any input related to this will be helpfull and rewarded.
Regards
Vishal

Hi,
Follow STO Process for this;
1.Create a vendor for the company code of receiving plant, using account group: 0007 using T-Code XK01.
2. Assign this vendor to Delivering plant
Go to XK02 >Purchasing view>Extras>Add. Purchasing data>Plant
3. Create internal customer with the sales area of the vendor. Go To XD01
4. In pricing procedure determination relevant to STO, assign document Pricing Procedure and customer pricing procedure appropriate for STO to get the pricing in the invoice.
5. Maintain condition records for the relevant pricing condition.
6. Some more setting for STO: Go to MM> Purchasing > Purchase Order > Set up STO > define shipping data for plants > Go to Receiving plant >assign customer here & Supplying SA (for billing) to Receiving plant here
7. Go to MM > Purchasing > Purchase Order > Set up STO > define shipping data for plants > Go to Supplying plant and assign the sales area of receiving plant.
8. Go to MM > Purchasing > Purchase Order > Set up STO > assign delivery Type & Checking rule
Assign the delivery type to document type. In this case, Delivery type NLCC is assigned to Document type NB
9. Go to MM> Purchasing > Purchase Order > Set up STO > Assign document Type, One step Procedure, Under delivery tolerance
Assign the document type NB to supplying plant and receiving plant
10. After all settings, Create the STO using T-Code: ME21N and maintain pricing conditions of freight and Save.
11. In supplying plant Maintain condition record in sales using VK11 the same will flow in receiving plant when referring the OBD no during MIGO.
10. Create Delivery: VL10G
12. Picking, PGI: VL02N
13. Billing: VF01
Save the document and its done
14. J1IIN - Outgoing Excise Invoice
15. MIGO - Goods Receipt against outbound Delivery

• FormsCentral is discarding dropdown export values when importing PDF form

I would like to disclose that I am fairly new to this process.
I have created a pdf from a word document. After creating the form portion in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and adding in javascript validations and calculations, sourced mainly from these community forums I am encountering an error when importing the form to FormsCentral.  I have dropdown boxes that contain numbers (1,2,3, etc.) to select the amount of guests the recipient will invite. In turn, when selecting a certain number, the export value ($100,$200,$300, etc.) will show up in an adjacent text box stating in the amount it will cost.
This works fine in Acrobat, however when I import it I get a message:
FormsCentral has successfully imported the PDF with the following exceptions:
The choice field AddtD contains both display and export values. FormsCentral must discard the export values and this may cause existing calculations and validations to fail.
The choice field AddtG&D contains both display and export values. FormsCentral must discard the export values and this may cause existing calculations and validations to fail.
When it comes to efficiency, I am aware I may be doing things the tedious way. But I would like some insight on how to make the textbox more active in this scenario. I will include my properties / validations and calculations:
Dropdown box 1 (AddtG&D): Export values, as previously discussed
Text box 1 (TotalAddtG&D):
Validation Script:
// null filed value if entry is zero
if(event.value == 0) event.value = "";
Custom Calculation Script:
// Set this field value to the value of the combo box
event.value = getField("AddtG&D").value;
The same goes for Dropdown box 2 and Text box 2, as they are identical. Any help would be great!

Well that simplifies it a lot, since all you need to do is multiply the field value by a constant amount in both cases. So the new calculation script could be:
event.value = 100 * getField("AddtG&D").value;
and for the other:
event.value = 45 * getField("AddtG&D").value;
though I'm not sure if that's the correct field name.

• Strange Values in Characteristic selection screen

hello,
We have a situation here where there are some strange values appearing in the selection screen for a particular characteristic. e.g. for Business Area we expect to see only "A" and "K". But we have a wide range of values showing up like 0001 and 300 etc.
I cannot see how these values got into the selections.
- I checked the infoobject and there is no master data load for this infoobject.
- There is a text load which contains text for 4 values (the ones we expect to see).
- I checked each of cube that the infobject is used in an used one of the invalid values as a restriction to see if I got any results back, but there was no luck here.
I thought perhaps the values came from the transaction data loads (seeing as there is no master data load for it). Is this a correct assumption? or is there any other explanation for these values being there.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Thanks,
Allan

Eugene,
My apologies. here's the answers.
do you see the strange data in the master data of the IO?
I am not able to see tha master data in the IO. In the config of the IO, the "With Master Data" option is unchecked.
The IO is used in a number of cubes. So in order to try and see if the values came from transaction data, I went to each of those cubes and ran a quick check of the infocube contents. I focused the search on one of the "incorrect" values. (The volume of data in the cubes is enormous). I did not get any results from this search.
can you suggest anything more I can do?
best regards,
Allan

• MARS - inbound packet error rate high for unrouted VLAN

After upgrade to 4.2.2, we are getting lots of inbound packet error rate high for some unrouted vlan in Cisco 6509. I did some sniff and find that MARS try to get ifInErrors of those unrouted vlan. But the unrouted vlan only support ifOutUcastPkts and ifInUcastPkts.
I just wondering is there some bug in the MARS or there are some kind of database corruption.

Any reason you wouldn't just create a drop rule or modify the inspection rule that is firing?
btw, have a look here to make sure it isn't the same issue:

• IP accounting / output-packets / access-violations

I applied an access list to a VLAN interface and also added IP accounting output-packets and ip accounting access-violations. Interestingly, the devices that are allowed off the subnet can the ones that should be blocked are blocked by the ACL and show up in the show IP accounting access-v command. What I don't understand is why the show IP accounting doesn't show any packets. Also why a show access-list doesn't show any hits on the list. Is it because I'm using a VLAN interface? I would think I should see output packets and hits on the ACL. I do see dropped packets on the ACL for the violators.

Hello,
On certain platforms (hw/sw) packets are switched in hardware and not software. The RP doesn't have to make a forwarding decision. The ip accounting output-packets tracks statistics for packets via the RP. Applying a an ACL to a VLAN would typically breaks the flow of hardware switching and forces those packets to be further interrogated.
More granular traffic flows and statistics can be recorded with netflow switching. This does work on an SVI.
I hope this helps.

James

• ASA ESP Packet discard messages

Dear All,
we have a L2L tunnel between ASA 8.2.5 to Cisco Router. Recently we see tunnel is going down and shows messages in ASA about ESP packet discard. Below is the message.
%ASA-7-710006: ESP request discarded from x.x.x.x to outside_int:x.x.x
At the same time from router the tunnel shows up but ASA not. We see CSCso50226 which matches exactly with our issue.
As a workaround we were resetting tunnel from router. It comes up and runs for a week.
Please someone look into this and help.
Regards,
Ravi

Hi Ravi,
8.4 is great, dont let the NAT change scare you off two much and 8.2 was really buggy.
I guess this raises further questions, if your tunnel goes down once a week is it the same length of time ? and does this relate to the timings set on either end in teh configuration ?
When the tunnel goes down is it at a quiet time ? and have you tried using a test ping/rtr/sla to keep the tunnel up ?
The site below identifies the syslog messages and yours makes me think somethings not right. Do you have the sysoptions enabled or are you using ACL's to limit who can connect to the appliance as a vpn peer ? If you have ACL's have you included IP 50 ?

Can anyone please send me a link or links on how configuring "connection rate" and "stateful packet inspections rate" on an ASA?

thanks,

Hi Han,
I assume you're referring to the use of resource classes to limit the connection build and inspection rates? If so, this is only available in multiple context mode. You can find some config examples for that feature here:

• Very slow upload, high packet discards - Pittsburgh

I´ve had Verizon DSL in a Pittsburgh suburb for about 8 years without problems until a few days ago.
My plan is 3 Mbps down/768Kbps up and my modem is a Westell 2200. I used to measure
speed consistently at about 2.8 Mbps down and 700 Kbps up. Sites used to load within seconds.
The first symptom of my current trouble is that I am unable to send email with a 300 KB attachment
via Yahoo. Some sites take forever to load. Speed measurements on dslreports and speedtest.net now usually give the expected download speed but sometimes give extremely high ping times and upload speed measurements always HANG / never finish or get aborted.
I called Verizon support and they suggested connecting the computer directly to the modem
with an Ethernet cable. I did that but it doesn´t help.
Modem statistics show the expected speeds with SNR ratio 20 dB down and 12 dB up. Ethernet and WAN packet errors and discards are none EXCEPT the WAN interface has a very large number of OUT PACKET DISCARDS (more than half of out packets sent).
High WAN out packet discards explain slow upload speeds, but what could be the cause?
It seems that the WAN line is OK given the SNR ratios, no errors or discards in and no errors out.
The problems is specifically high WAN out discards.
How can I get Verizon to verify the port and congestion on their side? That would seem a likely
cause, right?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Step one: Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace)  might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Remove that line. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.
Step two: Can you provide the Transceiver Statistics from your modem?
Which means..
Visit http://192.168.1.1/ for me and do the following:
a) If you see a Blue and White Westell page, mouse over Troubleshooting, go to DSL, and choose Transceiver Statistics. Copy and paste the information on that page.
b) If using the Red and Black Firmware: Go to System Monitoring > Advanced Monitors > Transceiver Statistics. Copy and paste the information on that page.
c) Try visiting http://192.168.1.1/transtat.htm which is a direct link to the Stats on older modems.
d) If you need a Username and Password, try the following:
admin/password
admin/password1
admin/admin
admin/admin1
admin/Serial Number.
By Serial Number, I don't mean type in the words Serial Number. I mean find and type in the serial number found on the bottom of this router.
