Output Preview Not Saving to Reader

I'm assembling PDF files of a bulletin we publish into archives by year for web viewing using Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.7 (Mac). The files were originally created in PageMaker and the printer sent us PDF files for this project.
Everything is working fine except 3 of the files from one year (August, September, October) seemed to be missing the graphics. I found that by going to Output Preview and checking Simulate Overprinting they showed up.
I then saved it to another file, but when I opened it with Adobe Reader X 10.1.7 (PC) on another computer, the graphics were again missing for those 3 issues, though they showed up fine for the other issues in the PDF.
Under Preferences in Acrobat X I have Use Overprint Preview set to Always.
How to fix this?

I really don't know much about overprint, but you haven't gotten any other replies. So let me try to give some thoughts.
I am wondering if this an issue of graphics and such in layers that might be resolved by doing a flattening of the PDF. That would hopefully put everything on one layer and avoid the overprint (OK, that is a guess). Maybe this at least gives you something to consider and may spark others to chime in who actually know more about the issue.

  • Acrobat Pro 11 - Output Preview not working

This issue came up again on my Macpro. Although it's ok on my MBP. When try to analyze a PDF in "Output Preview" a few things aren't working for me. The "Total Area Coverage" warning will not display on screen. Also when I hover the cursur over the PDF I am no longer see percentages under the ink color Preview > Separations. Does anyone know of a quick fix so I don't have to keep going back to an oldere version of Acrobat?
    Thanks for your help.

I think I'd uninstall Acrobat (there should be an Uninstaller in your Acrobat folder inside the Applications folder). Then reinstall the application.

  • Combining pdf files in Preview not saved

I'm trying to combine screenshots into one pdf file.  I clicked on the side bar button and dragged the files I wanted into the side bar and then saved this as a pdf file.  It showed it as saving all the pages but when I closed it and reopened it, it had only one file.  (It was now opened in Adobe Reader).  Why is it not saving it as a combined file?
    Thanks,

  • Output Preview not working in Acrobat Pro 8

    Hi,
I'm trying to check a PDF document for CMYK and all that before it goes off to the printers and Acrobat Professional 8's Output Preview has stopped working for me - the separations list has vanished. Basically, when I open the Output Preview toolbar, I get options for Simulation Profile, Simulate Black Ink/Paper Color, the "Show" menu, a button for Ink Manager (which isn't working either) and then the Preview: Separations/Color Warnings box. There's absolutely no option for showing and hiding different colour channels, though it's worked completely fine in the past. Help?
And apologies if this is a stupid question.

I think I'd uninstall Acrobat (there should be an Uninstaller in your Acrobat folder inside the Applications folder). Then reinstall the application.

  • Preview not saving Recently Opened documents

I'm running Snow Leopard (10.6.1) on my Unibody MacBook Pro and my iMac. Ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard, files that I've opened in Preview won't save in the "File > Open Recent" menu. Previously if I opened a file called "Statement.pdf" and then closed it, that file name would appear in the "open recent" menu and I could open it directly from there. Now, nothing saves there. I can open and close dozens of PDFs in Preview and nothing saves. That menu item works fine in MS Word, but not TextEdit. I have deleted the plist files for Preview and TextEdit, but it didn't help at all.
From my limited testing, it seems like this problem only affects Apple applications (but I obviously haven't tested all of my apps). Anyone know how to fix this? It is one of my most frequently used features of Preview.

I've always had that set to None under 10.5. Setting it to some other value does seem to fix it, but it applies universally. Under all OS's prior to 10.6 it did not apply universally.

  • Preview not saving when converting multiple .eps files to .pdf

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro with snow leopard. I open a group of .eps image files using preview into the same window. I then shut the window with "cmd w". It says do you want to save all. I click save all. But then no saves are made.
If i open the group of .eps files using preview into separate windows and click "cmd w", then click save, it tries to save as untitled.pdf as opposed to "filename".pdf.
I previously used preview on a powerbook to convert .eps images to .pdf. In that version of preview the files would open in their own window. When i hit "cmd w" and save it would use save file as "filename".pdf.
Why does the newer version of preview not at least do this? Preferably the new version of preview would save all the .eps files as a batch as stated in my first sentence.
Does anyone have any ideas what i can do?

    Possibly similar problem:
When I open a JPEG in Preview, adjust the quality, and try to Save As, it simply saves as the original, not the new reduced-quality file. This is true even if I save it in a new location.
    - open a 200kb JPEG
    - try to Save As with quality reduced to only 50kb
    - it saves as the original 200kb file

  • Preview not saving check boxes in PDF forms

For some reason 10.6's preview will not save check boxes in PDF forms, you can click them but as soon as you save them they disappear.

I'm having the exact problem. I have a fillable PDF form that has many checkboxes. Saving the pdf (doesn't matter whether it's 'Save', 'Save All', or 'Save As' under the File menu) will clear/reset the checkboxes in the file.
Anyone know of a workaround for this? Or, is Apple fixing this soon? I really don't want to get Acrobat Pro 9 (well, I don't think it's compatible with Snow Leopard yet anyway)
If you'd like a sample PDF file to try it out, let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Exported PDF looks beautiful in Pages and Preview not in Acrobat Reader

Hi, I need a little help. I created an eBrochure in Pages which looks beautiful. When I export it to PDF, it looks amazing in Preview but not in Adobe Acrobat Reader; pictures doesn't look so bright and shiny, they loom more opaque. Also fonts look kind of weird. I went to Photoshop and tried to do it there, it looks better in Acrobat Reader but texts don't print as nice as the Pages one (photos do). So my problem I guess is with the photos on Pages... What can I do to ensure that my document created in Pages and exported to PDF can have the same quality in the Reader as it has in Preview?
Photos are in JPEG format and have a decent resolution I guess:
    File Size 1.4 MB
    With: 1200 pixels
    Height: 1800 pixels
    Resolution: 300 pixels/ inch
    Pixel Dimensions: 6.18M
    Pages computer is a MBA, 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.5.7, Pages '09 4.0.2
    Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no provision for such settings in these programs.
Developer documentation for ICC colour management in Firefox 2, Firefox 3 and Firefox 3.5, see below. Firefox 3 has ICC colour management disabled by default. Firefox 3.5 has ICC colour management for images within which there is embedded an ICC source colour space profile. It is possible to set Firefox to colour manage the application windows as well as images with embedded ICC profiles. The developer documentation discusses how to do this in what sounds suspiciously like a command line / terminal tool, and also how to point Firefox 3.5 to the display profile. This in turn sounds suspiciously like Firefox 3.5 is unable to talk to the system level service and ask for the display profile automatically.
Camino and Opera ... I'll pass. I suspect it's more of the same mess.

  • Fields on the master page - NOT saving in Reader!

I have forms that I've setup through Designer 7.1 and enabled through Acrobat 8. I'm currently using Reader 8 to open and fill in the forms. The fields that are on the master page (i.e., "Page ___ of ___" footer) DO NOT save, either in Reader 7 or 8. I can type in my info and it shows up just fine in the PDF preview pane (nothing seems to be blocking it and it is appropriately setup within a subform). I'm hoping this doesn't mean I have to go through all 800+ of my forms and redo what I've already created....

Check the binding tab for the fields. They may not be bound. By default, when you add a field to a master page, it is not bound (i.e. default binding is "none").

  • Problem with forms created in Adobe 9 not saving in reader X

We have been using fill in forms I created in Adobe 9 pro and suddenly people were complaining they cannot save the form with their information.  I have discovered that all of those people have acrobat reader X.  I looked for solution and found that original form needs to be saved with "extend features in Adobe reader".  when I did this it seems to have corrected problem.  Does anyone know another way to accomplish without redoing the form? There are many forms and they  have been widely distributed and would be difficult to redistribute. They worked fine with Acrobat reader 9.

In order for a modified form to be saved with any recent version of Adobe Reader, the document has to Reader-enabled, which is done in Acrobat 9 by selecting "Advanced > Extend Feature in Adobe Reader". So if the forms worked with Reader 9, they must have had the rights applied through this process or by LiveCycle Reader Extensions. It would be interesting to see a form that is fillable/saveable with Reader 9 that doesn't work with Reader 10.

  • Preview not saving multiple files

I sometimes have to crop a bunch of pics.Normally I do this in preview & just click 'save all' but recently this has not been working. It starts to save the first couple but then the progress bar just accelerates while making a blipping sound & the pics are left the same as before the cropping.
    Grateful for any help

    Hello,
I'm not proficient in AppleScript, but you might find a script that can enable you to save multiple files when editing. http://www.apple.com/applescript/learn.html
AppleScript is in your Applications folder.

  • SAP Tutor output file not saved after recording

    Hi,
we are having the following issue when trying to create SAP Tutor files.
The Application which should be recorded with the SAP Tutor is running and selected in the running applications window. During the recording session a sim file is created, but as soon as the recording is stopped the sim file is gone. There are no error messages or warnings. We are following the discription found here:
    http://help.sap.com/download/documentation/additional/saptutor/saptutor14_en.pdf
The created sim file just disappears after ending the recording with the "stop" button - why?
    Thanks for your help!

What OS is running on your PC? I'm having the same issue with a Windows 7 PC, but not with a Windows XP PC.
What I think is happening is that after you hit "Stop" there's a process called "iTutorCleanup" that's run to post-process the .sim file. On a Windows XP machine I can see this running, and I end up with a working .sim file afterwards. I suspect on a Windows 7 PC this cleanup process is failing and that is why the .sim file disappears.
I'm still playing with compatibility mode settings, but haven't found anything yet that makes it all work. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful!
    Thanks,
    Steve.

    Hi,
Go to Start --> regedit -->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -->Software -->SAP -->smi tutor, Delete this smi tutor folder completely and also delete SAP Tutor folder inside program files. Then restart the system and again install the SAP TUTOR freshly and check it will work fine.

  • Imap to mail, read messages not saving

Hi -- I keep asking this of the "mac geniuses" and in the other discussions and I am getting nowhere.
I use Mail to access my AOL mailbox (I know, I know). AOL uses IMAP.
Mail does NOT save read or sent mail more than the X number of days specified by whatever AOL sets it at. My mailbox keeps synching with AOL and then NOT saving my read messages. Why aren't my read messages saved into my IN box? I do not want them saved ad infinitum on AOL's server, I just want them on my computer, automatically, so I can peruse read messages and make use of them six months from now. Why won't Mail let my read messages remain? Why must it overwrite my in box with what's in my AOL mailbox? HOW DO I AUTOMATE THIS?
This seems simple, yet I have had two Mac geniuses argue with me that "it's already doing that" and one mac support person say "I can try to troubleshoot that for $49.95" and I am getting nowhere.
How do I get Mail to SAVE MY READ MAIL?
Thanks in advance. But I am not very hopeful. This kinda *****.

Since an AOL account must be created as an IMAP type account in Mail and the same with other email clients other than the AOL program, mailboxes stored on the server for IMAP type accounts in Mail and with other email clients are synchronized with the server.
This is an AOL setting or problem at their server. You need to contact AOL regarding changing this setting for automatically removing messages from the server. There is no setting in Mail that causes this. When AOL automatically removes messages from a server stored mailbox after a designated period of time, the Mail.app is only synchronizing server stored mailboxes with the server.
When creating an IMAP type account in Mail, the only account mailbox that is stored on the server by default is the account's Inbox mailbox which cannot be changed.
You have the choice to save the account's Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk messages on the server or locally on the hard drive which is available under the Special Mailboxes tab for the account preferences.
To fix the Sent messages problem, do not store Sent messages on the server. When storing sent messages locally on the hard drive, it doesn't matter what AOL does.
For messages received by the account, utilize an existing or create a new "On My Mac" location mailbox which is stored locally on the hard drive. Once a week or so or daily, transfer messages from the account's Inbox mailbox to a user created "On My Mac" mailbox which will store the transferred messages locally on the hard drive and remove the messages from the server at the same time.
