Output Preview Simulation Profile Automatically Shows Embedded  Profile

I am curious if there is a way to have the embedded profile in a PDF to be the 'default' simulated profile in the Output Preview?
Without thishappening faulty percentages may be shown, or if a BW file has an embedded BW profile, but the simulated profile is a CMYK profile the file is now 4-color (in the preview only, obviously the file is truly BW).
Yes, I know we can look at the 'Object Inspector' to find out if, and what, profile is embedded (if any) and then change the Simulation Profile to match, but it would be nice to have that done automatically if possible.

My point is that, to start with, what should the profile be if the PDF contains 17 profiles? What if it contains 2 different profiles with the same name? Your task may be simple, but designing it in the software is anything but. Also, getting all the profiles could take many minutes for a PDF with tens of thousands of pages.

  • Output preview which profile

    Hi all
We receive pdfs from all over and do some basic checks with acrobat pro
One of these checks is to check for 4Col black text using output previewer
The output previewer is set to US web coated (swop) v2 by default.
We have had a pdf in and the previewer shows colour on all four plates.
The output previewer shows heavy colour on all four plates making me think its possibly 4col black.
It turns out the text is actually a colour and not supposed to be black and via illustrator I check the colour
values which are completely different to what the previewer is saying they are.
By chance I discover that if I change the stimulation profile to Euroscale coated v2 the text values show correctly.
My question (at last) is it possible to find out what colour profile it was originally created with and give me some chance of
    knowing what is going on?
    Cheers

  • Output Preview Problems

    Hi All,
I have recently been having problems with the Output Preview in Acrobat 11 and it's driving me crazy.
The output preview is not reliably showing the correct CMYK Colour values - see below
I have created a sign in Illustrator CC 2014 and printed to PDF using the 'Press Quality' settings. I have ensured that all Adobe software is using the same profile (North American General Purpose 2) by setting it Bridge.
I import the PDF into Photoshop and get a yellow value of 100%
I then open Acrobat and check the same area and get a yellow value of 97%
In Acrobat I open Preferences > Colour Management and change the colour profile from North American General Purpose 2 to something else and then back to North American General Purpose 2. I check the yellow again and get 100%
Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you fix it? Many thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Christian.

I think you are measuring the image preview from Photoshop when you open your rastered Photoshop file in Acrobat. You should probably save your original Illustrator file as a PDF (not print to PDF). When you open the PDF in Photoshop, you are converting your vector file to an Image, which I think also creates a low-res preview of the actual image (which has various uses). If you check your Photoshop preferences, you might be able to turn the preview creation off, but I really wouldn't worry about it. As a test, save your original Illustrator file as a .tiff and see how that works. Unless you are adding something in Photoshop that can't be added in Illustrator or InDesign, it's usually better to keep everything vector, as much as possible.

  • How do I set the Simulation Profile to CMYK by default in the Output Preview Window

I've just upgraded to Adobe PDF X Pro from Acrobat 6 Pro. In Acrobat 6 I could just go to Advanced> Separation Preview and it would let me check off colours in CMYK, this was useful for me to check that Blacks were full black and not registration. I work in Newspaper media and always check if Ads are using the correct colours in the Ads they supply us.
Now here's my problem, every time I open up a new pdf Ad from clients and go the output preview it always shows me the colours in Adobe RGB by default. This is very annoying especially when I have to check a ton of Ads by clicking and scrolling down to say 'Photoshop 5 Default CMYK' just so I can check the Black. Is there any way to have it like it was in Acrobat 6? And just have it always show me the output preview in CMYK by default?
    Edit: Typos.

Ok, after fiddling around I've figured it out. Edit> Preferences> Colour Management> Under Working Spaces Change CMYK: PhotoShop 5 Default CMYK. Now all pdfs show up as CMYK when I click on output preview.

  • Automate Output Preview

I would like to automate the error-prone process of selecting a Simulation Profile in Output Preview (including simulating black ink) in preparation for printing (where we select "Apply output preview settings").
Is there a way to somehow automate this process? I'm finding documentation on the Print dialog side of things, but so far I'm drawing a blank on how to automate activation of Output Preview and select the appropriate settings (from Javascript or anything else).
    Thanks!
    Tony

It would be a very cool feature to have Preview macros.  But JavaScript doesn't have the kind of access to the Acrobat dialogs to prerform a print simulation.  The functionaltiy just isn't there.   Really, Adobe should have added a simple Macro feature a long time ago.
It may be possible to create this with a Plug-in.  I don't know whether or not the Print Production functionality has an HFT.  But if it does you could create specialty print preview buttons.

  • Difference color simulation profile

I want to measure the colors in a CMYK-PDF in Acrobat. There's a difference in measuring when i switch between simulation profiles. There used to be no measure difference only an optical difference. Have things changed?

Hi, I need to disagree. Roles are definitely the way to go!
Profiles used to be created manually: Authorization objects, which are checked in the code of programs / transactions, were manually added to profiles and the profiles were directly assigned to users.
This approach has a problem: How do you know which authorization objects are needed by which program / transaction? That is one reason why there are still so many SAP_ALL users.
Today, roles should be created by assigning transactions to the role via the SAP menu (see PFCG). The required authorization objects will then be automatically added (which objects are needed by which transaction is maintained in SU24). Technically, one or more profiles are "generated" for each role. Also, when assigning roles you explicitly also assign the generated profiles to the user master.
Generally: 1. Do not use SAP_ALL users in productive systems. Auditors do not like this. 2. Do not directly assign profiles to users. Always assign roles.
A good point to start learning more about authorizations is "Authorizations Made Easy". You can find a link to it here: <a href="http://www.sapsecurity.net/securitydocs.htm">SAPsecurity.net</a>. Another point to learn more about SAP related security and risk management is "SAP Security and Authorizations, which you can get through <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1592290620/sr=8-1/qid=1153742104/ref=sr_1_1/104-5471209-9051146?ie=UTF8">Amazon</a>.

  • Output Preview showing confused results

Hello all, Please bear with me as I attempt to explain a very odd occurrence I am seeing in Acrobat X. Also, my assumption is that this is something in the authoring tool confusing Acrobat, as if I attempt this using only Adobe products I cannot replicate the weird result. However, I don't know enough about PDF authoring to know what could possibly be in the file to confuse acrobat so much as to give these inconsistent results.
I have created a very simple PDF with 2 pages. Each page has a black box that was created with 100% black. If I open the Df in Acrobat X and set the view to Two Page View and then bring up my Output preview and turn off black both pages show as blank (as expected).
However, if I open the page in Single Page view, then when I go to Output preview and turn off black page 1 is completely blank (as expected), but when I go to page 2, there is still a gray box and the values are showing me this is built with a 4-color black.
And then, if I use the Object Inspector tool, it will tell me that the black box is 100%k. And then this changes things when I go back to separations. Now separations shows this box as gone with black unchecked.
Here is a link to the example pdf if anyone is able to find the issue causing this strange behavior. Thanks,

  • Output Preview does not show right values of Spots

I have a document created in InDesign. It contains only 1 spot color (no CMYK). Acrobat shows worng spot values in Output Preview (100% for 100% spot, but 4% for 10% spot. Pitstop shows the right value. Can you tell me what is the problem?

    Hi Lisa,
First you know for which transaction you want to print the form. For example if it Purchase Order then Transaction is ME22n or ME23n .
The error you are getting might be because of one of the following reason.
    1) The output you are using should be configured for particular order number .For example if You want to print the form for a PO number 40000020 For this you must have configured output type in the messages of that order number.
Go to ME22n give the order number  and press enter . In the application tool you can find messages button just click on that and it wil take you to other screen where you can give putput type print medium and printer in Comunication method and in firther data give  start immediately
2)Let us suppose it was configured then the output must have configured properly.
    Thanks,

  • Output Preview not working in Acrobat Pro 8

    Hi,
I'm trying to check a PDF document for CMYK and all that before it goes off to the printers and Acrobat Professional 8's Output Preview has stopped working for me - the separations list has vanished. Basically, when I open the Output Preview toolbar, I get options for Simulation Profile, Simulate Black Ink/Paper Color, the "Show" menu, a button for Ink Manager (which isn't working either) and then the Preview: Separations/Color Warnings box. There's absolutely no option for showing and hiding different colour channels, though it's worked completely fine in the past. Help?
And apologies if this is a stupid question.

I think I'd uninstall Acrobat (there should be an Uninstaller in your Acrobat folder inside the Applications folder). Then reinstall the application.

  • Updating Output Preview window

Hello. I have a problem with output preview window. I found the thread with the same question: How to update Output Preview window? . But there are no answers. May be anybody can answer now.
    Thank you.

I sent "PDPageNotifyContentsDidChange" notification. It helps to show new element with this colorant in document, but not in OP window.
It is very srange behavior. If you open OP window after adding colorant, OP window show it. If change Simulation Profile from CMYK to RGB (or RGB to CMYK or GS ets.) new colorant will appeared. Workaround: Maybe it posible to change this profile programmatically?
If you open OP window then change in preferences default working space and then open OP window again Simulation Profile won't be changed.

  • How to change the default setting for Output Preview

Good afternoon! I use the Output Preview feature under Advanced > Print Production quite a bit, to preview the rendering in one specific simulation profile (for me, its Web Coated SWOP 2006 Grade 3 Paper).
Is there any way to set the default to be a specific profile, instead of the one that keeps coming up (Output Intent: CGATS TR 001)?
It's very time consuming to have to repeatedly select my profile everytime I open a PDF and gauge the file in Output Preview.
Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks!
    - Johnny

All you need to do is set the default CMYK (under Preferences > Color Management) to the profile you use the most. It will then default to that profile in Output Preview, unless it has an Output Intent specified.

  • Output Preview Changes Colors

In our softproofing setup, we have our press profile set up as the default CMYK profile in Acrobat 9. However, when we open the Output Preview window with the same profile set under Simulation Profile, the appearance of the color changes (some colors more so than others). I'm probably missing something simple, but I would think that the appearance should stay the same unless you change the Simulation Profile to a different profile.
I look forward to reading about what a doofus I am...

  • Acrobat X and XI and Output preview

User had CS 6 installed with Acrobat X on her mac workstation. also installed Adobe Cloud with Acrobat XI. Once the install of Adobe Cloud was complete, the user was having issues with her Output Preview screen. The Simulation Profile field defaults to Adobe RGB (1998), though she continues to chance to GRACol 2006. I uninstalled Adobe Cloud and Acrobat XI, but the problem persisted. I uninstalled CS6 and Acrobat X. I reinstalled CS6 and Acrobat X but the issue with Output Preview still existed. My thought is a setting file on the workstation is causing the continual problems with the Outlput Preview information. Has anyone experienced this and found a  workaround? There is info on the web that indicates it is a bug with Cloud but no workarounds.
    Thanks

  • Output preview

Is there anyway to remove some of the simulation profiles in output preview.
All I really need is "U.S. web coated (swop). After a straight export from InDesign or
Quark my PDF is at U.S. web coated (swop). But when i ran the PDF through our
Esko or Prinergy the PDF. Then view the PDF the output preview is set at "output
intent CGATS TR001" and to change it back to "u.s. web coated". I know it doesn't
make a difference in the end. But i like the preview with the other setting.
Anyways the list seems to be getting longer after every updat.

Please explain in more detail. A screen shot might help. Also version of Acrobat.

  • Acrobat 9 + Output Preview

In Acrobat 9 I noticed something confusing. I had a pdf file which had black text on a background. I opened this up in Acrobat 9 and went to check to see if the black text was set to overprint. Going to Output Preview I turned off the Process Black separation and it showed me that the black appeared to be overprinting. I then turned off the Simulate Overprint check box and the background showed the text to be knocking out. Under the Color Warnings preview I used it to show me all the overprinting elements and it verified that the Black Text was overprinting. I assumed that Simulate Overprinting would show me what the picture would look like if the black text was not set to overprint. Instead it's deceiving me making me think that the black text is knocking out when I turn this off.
In Acrobat 8 the previews appeared correctly or what I assumed in my mind as correct. Is this feature working correctly in Acrobat 9 and if it is can you explain the thought process behind what is happening?

In Acrobat 9, you might have noticed that overprint preview has been removed from the menu items under Advanced > Print Production. The "Simulate Overprinting" checkbox was added to output preview so that we can still temporarily "turn on/off" the simulation of overprinting appearance (rather than have to change preferences), largely for troubleshooting or further examination of a document. Turning this off is like turning off overprint preview (which simulates overprinting appearance). It's not actually turning off the overprint flag itself, so color warning is still highlighting the black text.
Output Preview always enables overprint preview regardless of what your preferences are (in earlier versions, this includes your menu selection). You were unable to turn off overprint preview whenever output preview was open. In 9, the checkbox allows you to turn off that simulation.
Overprint Preview can still be controlled in display preferences.
I hope this helped. If not, please give more info about what you are expecting to see.
