Output to a Projector

I have a borrowed Lenovo Ideapad, and I'm trying to give a Powerpoint presentation with a projector. I cannot figure how to get a signal to the projector. Any help will be much appreciated.

connect the cable, power on the device and your computer ( this is important, must be off the devices before you connect the cable )
and press fn+ f3 and select projector.
and if you can, read the user guide for projector.

  • Output to monitor/projector

Will iOS 4.2 have the ability to output to an external monitor/projector?
I know Apple left it up to the software developers to enter in this code but why can't the iPad just have this ability out of the box? Those that have jail broken their iPad already have this ability in the settings. That just shows that the iPad could do this but apple won't allow it.
Apple why can't we have this functionality? I would love it for myself for various reasons, but I work for a large school and the faculty members that have purchased iPad's want to output to a projector as part of their teaching.
Heck...apple didn't even add this functionality into Safari.

We are all users here. We do not know why Apple does/does not do what it does. If you want to make a suggestion go here:

  • Is it possible to output to a projector and a monitor with Keynote?

Hi, I am looking to set up my Macbook Pro for a presentation, I have hooked up two extra output displays - a projector through the DVI for the main presentation and a monitor with an Iogear USB - VGA connector on stage for the speakers notes. The Macbook will be side stage. Is it possible in Keynote to display the main presentation on the projector and the speakers notes to the monitor? I have tried mirroring the laptop to the monitor but this has caused problems with it only working when the projector is designated the home screen (with the dock) meaning people will see what is going on through the projector. When the laptop is the home screen and keynote is started a message appears saying there's not enought virtual memory. Is there anyway around this?

This is not possible with a mini.

  • Macbook vs. Macbook Pro Video output to a projector which is better?

OK, so I am having an argument with another guy about this. He swears that a macbook doesnt look as good as a macbook pro when being displayed on a projector.
My argument is: if you have and dvd, it will look the same when projected because the resolution is the same be it a MB or MBP. They swear it would look better because the MBP has a better video card than the MB. I wouldnt think this would make a difference because the output from the DVD is not that high (its not an HD signal) so at the highest resolution of the DVD, either MB or MBP could read this exactly the same. (I am talking DVI to VGA or Svideo on both MBs.)
So if its apples to apples (no pun intended) and both are connected from DVI to VGA (lets say) to a projector, they would both look the same...correct? Or are these guys right and the MPB would actually look much better?
    Help me out peoples...
Oh and one of the guys swears up and down that S-video is better than VGA....I keep telling him NO, but he doesnt get it.

they will output video pixel for pixel identically. no worries. screen spanning has been around for 5+ years now, so even the "weakest" machines can do it admirably nowadays.
The screen image starts out on your video card as a digital signal. VGA is an analog signal. So you downgrade your digital (DVI) signal to analog (VGA) to get a picture this way. All VGA signals will look like crap (though they will of course look much better than s-video because VGA is a newer standard). You need to get a projector that accepts a digital input such as DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort to have the best picture on whichever your machine is.
The only thing worse than this is using a DVI->VGA->DVI, which tries to convert a VGA signal back to digital DVI and degrades the signal further. It's like a xerox machine. Try to avoid digital->analog conversions!

  • Jittery output image to projector

I am using the iMac video output to feed a 1x4 VGA splitter going out to 2 projectors (front & rear). The image on the front projector is jittery - the rear image is stable. This only occurs with the iMac. I've tested it with my Macbook and a DVD player and the front projector image remains stable - except with the iMac. I've tried using all the other outputs of the VGA slitter with no change. Any other ideas?

It would be easy to do this via a servlet but we want it to work offline as well as online. We don't want to display it in the applet as it doesn't contain a GUI and we want the interface configurable completely in HTML. Excluding these most obvious solutions, any other ideas?

  • Laptop vs. tower: how does it effect output to HD projectors

i'm working with our video production crew and deciding between getting a new laptop or tower. i want the laptop, they want the tower. they want the video card and output features of the tower, i want the portability and convenience of the laptop. we do shows all over the world. how can we get the best resolution from the laptop? does hooking it up to a cinema 23 HD diplay help? does closing the laptop when it's hooked up help? should we update the video card in the laptop? how can i justify getting the laptop.
(we mostly run keynote/quicktime files for the shows to dual HD projectors on 3:1 screens. usually 3000 pixels wide)
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Laptops and towers both use DVI connectors (except for the iBook).
The iBooks only had display mirroring, so the external display was the same as the laptop screen. The PowerBooks, MacBooks, and MacBook Pros have extended desktop, so the external display can have a different picture and resolution. Some have dual-link DVI and can display up to 2,560 X 1,600. Those with single-link can display up to 1,920 X 1,200. I don't know of a Mac laptop or tower that can display the 3,000 pixels you mentioned in your post.

  • No audio output with wireless projector connection

I use EasyMP Network Projection software to connect wirelessly to a projector. Until about two weeks ago (before Yosemite OS came out) the connection stopped streaming sound through the projectors speakers. The video works but the sound only comes out of my laptops speakers (Macbook Air) and I don't see the projectors audio output show up in the sound control panel. I know the projector is not to blame because other people can use the projector and get sound out of it. I'm also getting an error upon opening the EasyMP software that says "You need to restart your computer to enable Audio Output" but restarting the computer makes no difference.
    Steps taken to resolve issue:
Uninstalled and reinstalled the EasyMP software
    Reset the SMC
    Restarted the computer
Repaired file permissions with Disk Utility.

I have outputs 1+2 connected to a pair of Audix powered monitors. I've tested the monitors with other audio sources, and they work. Also, I'm not getting any audio from the headphone jack. This makes me think that I've either got something set incorrectly with the software, or there's something wrong with the mixer.
I also tried running Garageband with the FW-1884 and had the same problem, if that helps.

  • Outputting HD to projector?

Want to screen rushes for clients. Am on a little bitty island out in the North Atlantic. Someone here has a MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core 17, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. I'm not at the location right now, or I would look for myself.
They have a fairly sophisticated, new, projector ...
I'm wondering if there is an HDMI out from the above model of MacBook Pro (mine is too early, doesn't have anything like that).
And if there actually IS an HDMI out ... can I simply open a Quicktime with a ProRes codec, full screen, and run it out through the HDMI through the projector?
    All ears...
    Ben

The MBP has a Mini-Displayport video-out, not HDMI. You would need a Mini-Displayport-to-HDMI adapter that carries audio, such as this one...
    http://www.jr.com/griffin-technology/pe/GRF_GC17096/
...plus a conventional male-to-male HDMI cable.
Note that very few MDP-HDMI adapters have actually proven to carry audio reliably. The one I've linked is one of those. It's available from many vendors, but I doubt that any of them are located on your island.

  • Standalone Projector won't work on a Mac when output from Mac Flash 8 Pro

Standalone Projector won't work on a Mac when output from Mac Flash 8 Pro
I'm outputting a Mac projector file that will work on my mac computer. However, when I upload it to FTP and download it my mac or another mac, it won't work! What's going on? I've tried adding ".app" to my file and it still won't work. Help!
Here's my set up: Flash 8 Pro on Mac Intel with Mac OS 10.4.11

    Hi,
Does it work if you .zip up the projector and FTP the .zip and then unzip the projector on the other Mac's?  A projector is basically an application.  Applications in Mac's have package contents and resource bundles.  When copying files over the network on Mac's, symbolic links inside the package contents and bundles can get messed up.

  • HP Slate 500 - HDMI To Projector (mini-HDMI)

From HP Slate 500, I connected to Optoma PK301 projector, using the HDMI output port in the Slate's Dock. I am not seeing any video output in the projector.
The Projector mini-HDMI is working good, I can see proper video output when connected to HDMI output from my laptop. Also, using a USB to VGA converter I am able to see video output from the Slate in the Projector.
I didnot test the HDMI port on the Dock with any TV or other output device. But should I make any setting changes when using the HDMI output? Any pointers on this would be helpful.
    Thank you

the home and emergency button of my slate 500 not work. what can i do to fix this.thanks.

  • HDMI audio doesn't output to AV receiver

    - 2013 Mac Book Pro Retina 15
    - OSX 10.9.4
    - Pioneer SC-1522K receiver
    - Panasonic AE-8000 projector
I have problem with my hdmi audio output to my receiver after upgrading to Mavericks.  If I connect my MBP to the receiver, my receiver will appear as an output in my sound preference setting for me to select in addition to the "Internal speaker".  However, whenever my projector(connect to the receiver as an output) is turned on, my receiver will disappear in the sound output selection. So the Video is output to the projector but the audio can only be played by the MBP instead of the the receiver. Before I upgraded to Mavericks, the video is output to the projector and the audio is output to the receiver.
I tried to use my Dell laptop and it works fine.  The video is output to the projector and the audio is output to the receiver.
Can someone help on this please?

HDMI is sort of "finicky"  .  try connecting to a different TV, or with a different cable.  Also turn either device on and off a time or too.

  • No VGA output after upgraded to ios6 on ipad2

I need help on the above. I have upgraded from ios5.1.1 to ios6 on my ipad 2. And bought a VGA connector to mirror ipad to my projector. But there was no output, in the projector, its message says "no signal detected". I have tried restored the ipad using itune but it was of no help. I have used my friend's ipad 2 running on ios5.1.1 and connect it up to the projector and it has no problem- so the connector cable was okay.
Any input on the above is greatly appreciated. It looks like ios6 has some bugs when runs on ipad2.

IOS 6.1 has fixed this problem on ipad2. I've just tried and it worked smoothly.

  • HT2494 connecting macbook pro to projector

I am having trouble getting the right output to a projector connected to my macbook pro using the thunderbolt to hdmi connector. It won't display the MS windows desktop I have running in vmWare. It also does not show the correct desktop when I move between mac oOS desktops.

Is DVI-D the same as a mini DVI?
DVI-D is the standard digital mode in which DVI interfaces with HDMI. DVI-A is the analog mode in which it interfaces with VGA.
The Mini-DVI connector is used on Apple computers as a digital alternative to the Mini-VGA connector. It is found on the 12-inch PowerBook G4, Intel-based iMac, the MacBook Intel-based laptop, the Intel-based Xserve, and the 2009 Mac mini. see here for more details.

    Hey @Davidm123 ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with poor video output to your projector.
According to the product page you have linked, the projector has a native resolution of 320 x 240. This would likely explain the poor video output.
You should be able to confirm the resolution settings in the Screen Resolution menu of Windows by right clicking on your Desktop and selecting Screen Resolution.
    Thanks.
