Output to wmv

I cannot find a choice for output to windows media player 9 (or any other wmv( is there a location to download this? Website I am posting to will not accept any of the qt files compressor creates.

Save it as a QuickTime file and then use WMV Studio to convert that to WMV.

  • I get black slides when outputting to WMV ??

In Photoshop elements 10, I am preparing a large slide show (diaporama) with about 130 slides.
When previewing the show, everything is as I want it, but when I do the final output to WMV format, the first 50 slides are OK including transitions and music, but about 10% of the slides after that are missing, the screen is only black (music remains OK).
My PC has an Intel i5-2500K,  8Gb RAM, c: disk is 64 Gb SSD (9 free), Windows 7 64bits.
The Slides are on an external 1Tb disk, in 3456x5184 pixels, stored as JPG high quality (not max), i.e. about 1.2 Mb per slide.
    Can someone please help ??

The plugin is incompatible. Delete it and relaunch Safari.

  • Output to WMV 320x240?

I have a video shot on 640 x 480 DV on the Final Cut Pro timeline, but the client needs delivery as a WMV 320 x 240.
I can't see how to export it. I do have Flip4Mac, so I can send the thing from the FCP timeline out to a WMV 640 x 480... but surely there's a setting in Compressor where I can either CONVERT the full-size WMV into a half-size one... or I can simply export using Compressor?
Does anybody know what settings I need to use?
    Thanks!!

Nevermind... figured it out. There's a box for Frame Format "Size:" and it's a drop down list. Don't know why I didn't see that before.

  • Upgraded FCP to latest release & now can't output to WMV to play on PC

Just recently upgraded my Final cut Pro to the latest release and since that upgrade when I export my project to Window's Media files they no long will play on a PC. What has changed? What settings do I have to set to make this work again. I have content that I have to convert to Post to the Web and need this fixed.

I suggest you head over to the F4M forum HERE. There's been a smattering of issues that have appeared with 7.5.5 QT, and maybe the moderator, Craig has some advise.

  • Organizer 8 Slideshow - Help - black slides in .wmv output?

Greetings.  I recently purchased Elements 8 (both Photoshop and Premiere).  My primary reason was to create slideshows in an easy fast manner with lots of features (i.e. pan/zoom).  I have used Photoshop for years.   I created my first slideshow and output to .WMV file.  When I playback the slideshow in Windows Media Player v11, the first 3 or 4 slides play fine, with transitions and zoom/pan, then the slide show goes 100% black.  After about15 to 20 seconds, a few more slide appear and function as designed.  I can see that during the "blackout", slides were being prcessed because when they appear again, I am about 10 slides into the sequence, even though the blackout occurred after 3 or 4 slides.  This repeats itself, blackout, then slides appear, blackout, etc etc.  It was a 20 minute slide show.
    The output was at 1024 x 768.
The original slides are 8 x10, 360 DPI, which is the resolution I have worked at for years in PS.
So... I created a smaller slide show with no transitions and no zoom/pans, and only about 20 slides.  I still got the blackout issue.
I also launched the .WMV file in Nero and had the same issue, so the file itself has the blackout in it. It is not the player.
I then output to .WMV at 800 x 600 and this time it worked, even with the transitions and zoom/pan.  No more blackouts.
Unfortunately, the quality is noticibly worse.  I really need to stay at a higher resolution.  So, I guess I have a myriad of questions and am for the most part looking for feedback, suggestion, etc.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Are there any ways to convert the slide show to a format other than .WMV? (i.e. AVI).  I beleive to edit the slideshow in Premiere Elements where I could create other format, it first has to be converted to a .WMV file. This conversion is where the problem lies.
    Thanks in advance....

My initial and probably most significant comment is
Seems like you now have 2880x3660 pixels in your photo files.I understand that it is a good resolution for printing however, .....
The odds are overwhelming that your photo file resolution is too high for slide show processing either in Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements. And the black "photos" in your slide show output are symptomatic of that problem.
How many and when black photos appear in the slide show output will vary according to the resources of your computer (temporary files disk space can be very significant) as well as the number of photos, their resolution and the resolution of the output.
As an example, when the final outout will be a standard definition DVD( which is 640x480) for playback on TV or computer DVD player software, the recommended starting resolution for photo files is approx 1000 x 750 is for full screen 4:3 output. You want a higher resolution playback, so yes your initial resolution would be proportionally higher so that you can have sufficient resolution to zoom and pan.
What is  the playback method and resolution that you want?  Approximately how many photos are in the slide show?
You are probably familiar with the Process Multiple Fiels command that is in the Photoshop Elements Editor: it is a possibility for making the recommended descrease in photo file resolution to a copy of the photo. There is also an Export command in the Elements Organizer.
My second comment for now is that
there is an alternative to making a wmv file: it is a command that sends the definition of the slideshow to Premiere Elements 8 without ever making the intermediate wmv file.  Depending on where you are in PSE 8 Organizer or Slide Show Editor, this command may be either Edit in Premiere Elementsor Send to Premiere Elements. However, I highly recommend that you not try this command until you have downsized the resolution of your photo files.
FYI: there are many more comments that are appropriate to discuss a slide show workflow from PSE to PRE and some of this discussion might bounce back and forth between the Photoshop Elements and  the Premiere Elements forum.

  • Output WMV from Comp that has Rotobrush work (59.97 fps)

Hello.  I am trying to output a wmv file of the footage I have rotobrushed as a tester and I am noticing that the wmv plays back very jumpy.  I duplicated my comp and changed the frame rate back down to 29.97 from 59.97 and made another wmv that is less jumpy but still is not playing back like it should.
Are there some settings that I am neglecting to change in my output settings?
    Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to output a wmv (for client to review) from an After Effects project that has rotobrush work without it having jumpy play back
It's perfectly possible. We do it all the time, but somehow you are still evading to face the underlying issues. Smooth playback is dependent on a lot of factors one of which is data rates to which Dave you pointed, framerate mismatches I was hinting at, another drive speed and yet anotehr graphics hardware acceleration in Windows Media player and any alternate media players. So whatever you do, it requires a methodical approach to figure out where things go wrong. Just switching to anotehr CoDec format or encoding in another app is probably not going to solve your issues. And not to ruin your day, but even if you can manage to get smooth playback on your machine, it doesn't mean your client will. They could have old, poorly maintained machines or on teh otehr hand stylish, but underpowered netbooks and then even the smallest clips from YouTube may not at all play smoothly, much less a full HD clip. Again, consider the whole chain, not just parts of it.

  • What is the best option for generating .wmv video working on Mac?

I am working on a mac. I need to generate my output in .wmv. I am exporting as .mov then using MacX converter to convert to .wmv. The quality degrades too much. What is the best way to generate .wmv?
    Thanks in advance.

YOur statement is way too generic and vague. You have not provided any exact settings,  version info, details about the footage etc. That asude WMV is a compressed format and wil always degrade.

  • WMV Rendering problems happened out of nowhere

I've had no problems with AE before. I'm using a photo slideshow template with some nice transitions and effects. Worked just fine when I exported it to WMV for months. In fact I've rendered the same eact file several times. However I wanted to make one final picture change and now all of a sudden when I render it to WMV, the footage is slow, choppy and very distorted. I tried rendering it to Quicktime and it seemed to work. So did H.264 but it was low quality.
I even opened up other AE projects and they all now render choppy, distorted video when output to WMV (it never did that before!). Not sure what happened because I didn't change anything in the settings at all. I've even tried uninstalling and re-installing, and it still renders out the same slow, choppy, distored video for WMV. I'm at a complete loss!
    Please help

Either a Windows Update changed some Media Player components or you updated/ changed the graphics driver. Verify the files on another system. If they play fine there, then investigate these things on your own system.

  • XDCam to WMV

I am recording XDCam 1920x1080 60i footage to my EX1r's. I am ingesting into FCS 7.02 using XDCam Transfer very successfully. My sequence presets are Apple Pro Res 422 1920x1080 60i and my capture preset is DVCPro HD 1080i60. Quite honestly I have know idea if this is correct but from my reading it sounded good. It looks great and I am able to edit like I want to. If it is not optimal please feel free to tell me.
My problem comes when I try to output my edit. Most of my end users are Windows users and not flexible about plug ins and such so I really have to output to WMV. I am doing export>QT conversion> and have tried various settings none of which are great. I am using Flip for Mac Pro HD which gives me many options for output. I am downsizing to 1280 x720 and using what I think are the best settings. The quality of the video is excellent until it moves (which I understand is a bad thing). It is choppy and has horizontal distortion when something moves.
Is anyone successfully converting HD footage to WMV? If so, what settings are you using? Is there a better program for this? Any help would be appreciated.

In Compressor's "Inspector" there are the little tabs: 6 of them under "Description"...
Summary, Encoder, Frame Controls, Filters, etc. (2 more)
You'd go to "Encoder". The "File Format" option here needs to be changed to "QuickTime Export Components". Once you've done that, the "Encode Type" should now hold an option, "Windows Media". Select this. Alter options to liking.
The advantage of using Compressor is:
1.) You can let it churn away, while you go on and do other stuff. (continue editing, whatever...)
2.) You can set up a QuickCluster (that's a link) that will allow Compressor to use all available cores in your machine. The more cores, the faster the encode.

  • Having trouble creating .WMV from slideshow in Organizer (11)

When creating .WMV from a slideshow in Organizer (11), the photographs aren't showing up.  They seem fine in the slideshow, but when I output to .WMV I get the audio but not the pics.  I have done this many times before and it has worked fine, not sure why it isn't working now.
I am trying to take these to Premier Elements to create a DVD with menus.  If I take the slideshow/project, rather than a .WMV, it tells me it doesn't like .jpg and I get some black frames.  In the past, if I created .WMVs, I got around this problem.  Suggestions?
    Thanks....

If you're running under Windows try this.
Find the Organizer executable file  (on a 64-bit system this would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe).
Right-click it and select 'Run As Administrator'.
I had a similar problem when I had both PSE11 & PSE12 installed - Slide show would only ever work in one of them, but an Adobe staff member posted the above suggestion and it worked for me (both versions now work properly).
    Cheers,

  • Elements 9 slide show output freezes

I have Photoshop Elements 9 running on  system 7. It ran fine for a year but now started giving me 3 problems. (1) every time I open my catalog it begins "Updating' which ends in a freeze. (2) I make slide shows with this s/w often and every time I output to create a VCD it says it doesn't recognize the blank CD-R, why? (3) If I ask to download a wav file for my slide show, it starts and freezes about 30% into the download, why ? Help. Tks, Jerry

Are you able to drag the wav file to the audio sound track line? Can you then save and output to wmv file or DVD?

  • PE9- Saving slide shows - always stops working at 94% of .wmv file

I have a 40 minute slide show with music. When I output to .wmv file, PE9 always stops working at 94% of download, whether I use the maximum or the high resolution settings. I have a powerful computer with all the bells and whistles. I'm disapointed that E9 does not perform as advertised. Any solutions or comments beyong what's in the release notes? Any fix for this soon? Thanks to all.

Most probably Premiere Elements is causing the rotation you are experiencing
That is because the recent versions of Premiere Elements do not recognize the rotation indicator set in a photo file.  However the Photoshop Elements Organizer does recognize a photo orientation indicator set within the photo file when displaying thumbnails and displaying the photo file.
At this point for this slide show,
it might be simplest to initiate an edit in Photoshop Elements of each of the portrait orinetation photo files that are in this slide show -- so that the pixels within the photo file itself can be rotated and saved as a new photo file. .
    In the future,
-- it would probably be simpler to multiple select thumbnails in the Organizer and rotate those photo thumbnails (once 90 degrees  and then a second time back in the opposite direction 90 degrees).
-- most cameras that set rotation indicators in a photo file also have an option not to set that indicator which then usually results in portrait orientation photos displaying sideways in the Elements Organizer until you rotate them yourself. (to me this is a second choice approach but it is a possibility)

  • Video Converter for Zen SD S

Hi all. I just bought a 4gb zen for my wife and I'm looking for a decent video converter, aside from the included Media browser one. The problem with that one is that it seems to automatically load the video onto the player (even after I unchecked the 'load to player' radio button), which isn't desired. I'd much prefer to keep the player filled with music, and load video onto an SD card separately.
Anyone able to confirm a piece of software that works for the zen? I've tried a couple that output to WMV, but the player refuses to play them back. To confirm, video converted to WMV by the zen software (taken off the zen and then put onto the SD card) works fine.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I own a ZV:M for myself for which I generally use DivX Converter for video, but the new Zen will only play WMV9 and MJPEG (something that a lot of digital cameras utilize... not so good for the Zen). Do WMV specific converter files from MovAVI Suite work for you, 'cause a DivX outputted file will definnitely not work for the new Zens.
    Thanks.
