Output via firewire with studio 2

I have recently set up a FCP Studio 2 system with a kona LHe card and am having a hard time outputing to dvd. We are using an HD player deck (JH-3) and our analog outputs from the kona are component only. DVD players only take s-video and composite. I need to find a way to go firewire out into my dvd player. There is no option for this in the video playback... I know people doing this on studio 1 but i cant seem to find any way of outputting via firewire in studio2.. any suggestions???
Helpme604

Thanks for the reply. Yes Im trying to go to a dvd recorder for dailies output. In avid i have s-video and analog out of the mojo but I only have component out as an analog option from our Kona card. In our studio 2 for some reason we dont have an option to go firewire out. Could this be from a poorly installed FCP? In the video playback options we dont have any firewire options.
thanks again

  • Mush/Audio Errors with MacMini (2012) connected via Firewire with Motu 828mk3

    Hi,
just bought a Mac Mini (actual model) and wanted to connect my Motu 828 mk3 via Firewire for audio recording. BUT, via FW there are audio errors/mush (sounds like electrical mush) in all the audio outputs. Via USB its all o.k. ! The Motu works fine with an 2008 MacBook Pro on Firewire!
Has anyone the same problem with audio interfaces on macs using firewire, especially on the actual Mac mini? Is it a problem of the Mac (Mini) Firewire port?
The Mac Mini has installed the latest Motu drivers and the latest version of OS X Lion. The problem exists in all audio applications (Cubase, AudioDesk, Wavelab, even iTunes).
Thanks for your help/answers and best regards.

The problem stems from the Mac (in my case Mac Mini Server 2011).
Apparently, as I read in various forums looking for Mac and Logic, the new models of Mac Mini (2011) have lowered the voltage Firewire.
I have the same problem with my new Track-16.
I can only work fine with USB connection.
Either we change the computer model, or users of Mac Mini (2011) we can forget a Firewire connection powerful and efficient.
Only remains for me try to connect to an external HD Motu firewire 800 which is connected to the Mac Mini previously. I guess the external HD, to be powered via AC, will have enough voltage to the Motu.
    Best regards.

  • Output via Firewire

I am trying to export my finished video to my camera via firewire so that I can then send it to a VCR via the camera's analog outputs. I used to do this often on my old computer, but can't do it on my new one. I connect a firewire cable from the computer to the camera, but do not then see the video in the camera's LCD screen. This leads me to believe that the signal is not being sent from the computer.
Is there a setting, either within Premiere CS4 or in the computer's Control Panel, which I need to change?
    Thank you.

Settings : Playback>External Device xxxx may help
or Check out the Export setting in that screen also

Unfortunately apple has removed firewire support from current iPod models to save a few pennies. (firewire licensing is a pain)
There's no way to update your iPod over firewire, only charging is available.

  • How to get itunes movies to output via firewire port or other

I work for a small school tv station in which I'd like to move the students to serving up videos via itunes because it would be easier to add new content to the loop than what they are doing now (which is basically adding a quicktime movie to another and rerendering.)
To get it "on air" the signal currently uses simplevideo out to send quicktime playback thru firewire which is hooked to a deck. the analog of the deck is hooked to a VCR which sends feeds the on air broadcast.
What I'd like to be able to do is have a playlist called "on air", set Itunes to show in separate window and have that window feed on air.
The only solution I can think of is to to ask for a laptop for them and use a dual monitor-like setup and put the expanded window on the 2nd screen which would actually be a VGA to analog converter which could then be hooked to the VCR.
Is there anything simpler, hardware or software which might interface with itunes to play the movies out to a VCR/TV? AppleTV won't work because I don't have anything HD unless there is some converter I am overlooking.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Well I found one software solution but it is out of our price range. Here it is for anyone else who might be facing this..

  • Audio output via firewire

I can not get audio working through firewire on my late 2013 MacBook Pro 13".
If I test channels in channel setup it gives me static, but if I play iTunes od Spybot nothing happens.
    Internal speakers work fine.
    Any ideas what to do?

I am connecting it through the firewire thunderbolt adapter. Then firewire 400/800 cable, because Presonus mixer has Firewire s400 port.
Funny is that iTunes worked fine in the morning. Then I started to check why I can not play Youtube through firewire. From Audio MIDI Setup - Presonus Firestudio - Output - Configure Speakers I changed Multichannel channels. That was all I changed.

  • Viewing video via firewire with aspect monitor

    Hi everyone,
I finally got a monitor with an aspect 16:9 button, and I'm noticing that there are these thin horizontal lines above the picture-- wondering what they are?? two on the left, one in the center, and three on the right... Does anyone know what it means?

That is information that is WELL outside the TV safe area and would never show up on a TV. It is in the UNDERSCAN area and it contains information like timecode, closed captioning, SAP, etc.

  • Simultaneous import of video via firewire and audio via in-line audio port

I have a converter that takes the S-video and audio input from my DVR then converts both to DV format, and then outputs via firewire. I hook the firewire up to my G5, open iMovieHD, and the application recognizes that as a camera and imports wonderfully.
Well, the audio comes through with a MAJOR buzz or hum. It's probably the converter, but the buzz/hum is not enjoyable.
So, I removed the audio from the converter, and the video converts wonderfully in iMovie without the audio. I have the audio coming in through my audio line-in.
I start to import my video, and iMovie starts recording the video. But I want to record the line-in audio at the same time. But when I switch to audio to turn on the input from the line-in, the video stops capturing.
When I start to capture audio first, then switch to capture video, then the audio stops capturing.
Is there any way that I can capture the video via firewire for one "track", and my line-in audio for the other "track", and have them play simultaneously in iMovie during capture??
Any help would be appreciated. thanks Adam

    hey there badkitty 42,
i don't think you can do that. it sounds like your issue is electrical. try turning the plug around on each piece of gear in the chain & listen for the buzz. if it's not heard you've found the cause of your ground loop. you can also pick up some of the 3-prong orange or grey electrical adapters from Lowe's or Home Depot to see if you can "lift the ground" to get rid of the buzz. i'd try one on the convertor 1st. one last thing, do you have any flourescent lights in use on the same circuit or in proximity to where you're doing your transcoding? these are notorious for inducing 60Hz hum in audio & video gear.
    good luck.

  • IMovie playback on external monitor via FireWire?

this seems like a pretty obvious question, but is it possible to play back an iMovie timeline on an external monitor/TV? i'm connecting my Titanium laptop to a Sony DV camera via FireWire, then directly from the camera to my TV via mini-jack/RCA cable. this works fine in Final Cut Pro, but i can't seem to get my iMovie to show up on the TV. how do you get iMovie to playback output via FireWire?
    thanks.

In iMovie>Preferences>Playback do you have "Play DV project video through to DV camera" checked?
For your information: Checking that checkbox sends the audio to the DV camera INSTEAD of to the Mac's speakers, so if you disconnect the camera, you will have no audio.

  • Acquire images with labview via firewire and TWAIN

    Hi,
I have a camera from optronics. This camera is plugged to my computer
via a FireWire IEEE-1394 connection. The company optronics offers a
TWAIN driver for this camera: some files like TWAIN.dll and
TWAIN_32.dll. I would like to acquire images with labview and
communicate with the camera but I have no idea on how I should get
    started.
The 3 main things I'd like to do are: 1) change the exposure time 2) snap images 3) see the images in labview.
I will really appreciate if someone could give me some ideas to get started...

    Michael, From a
more general standpoint, what you'll need to do is use a Call
Library Function Node (located in the All Functions>>Advanced
palette) to call the necessary functions out of those DLLs. Before you
can do this, you'll need to know some specifics about what functions
are available in those DLLs and what parameters/outputs are associated
with them. This information is typically available in the product
manual or perhaps someone else with experience with your specific
device can speak to that. Once you know the functions necessary to
execute the desired operations, you simply configure a Call Library
Function Node for each of them and place them in your LabVIEW code.
    Just
saw this and want to clarify on this. This is a total no-go! The Twain
interface is a very old technology from the days when Windows was a
cooperative multitasking environment without real tasks or threads. In
order for Twain to allow for some sort of multitasked integration into
an application it requires you to integrate the Twain handling into the
message loop of your application. As you do not have direct control
over the source code LabVIEW is written from, this is a very tedious
operation, with Windows message hooks and such, lots and lots of
semaphore protection to avoid race conditions etc. etc.
There is simply no way that you can do anything even remotely workable
just by using the Call Library Node. You will need a (rather complex)
external shared library that goes in between Twain and LabVIEW and
takes care of all the subtleties. I know for sure because I wrote such
    a beast in the past.
Now there is a Toolkit from the French Alliance member Alliance Vision http://www.alliancevision.com/us/index.html that
does this. If you need Twain I would definitely go for this. My own
library is only to the point of what I had needed for a particular
project, (meaning it supports two specific scanners without issues) and
without any documentation for external users and I couldn't give it
    away for free either.
Just want to warn you but there is a good chance that the Alliance
Vision Twain Toolkit does not really give you full programmatic control
of all the parameters of non-scanner devices and you won't be able to
avoid letting the Twain driver show the device specific configuration
    dialog to manipulate specific settings.
In my own library I have low level functions to directly manipulate
Twain attributes but in order to be able to use that you would need a
through knowledge of the Twain specifications down to the API. That
together with the difficulties to support other devices I don't have
available, made us decide to not try to sell this Toolkit yet.

  • Having trouble outputing to tape via firewire

I'm trying to output to tape via firewire. However I'm only recording audio and not video. Device control preset is Firewire NTSC. Video playback preset is Apple Firewire NTSC (720 x 480)
    Any suggestion?

Make sure the your Video out is set to ALL FRAMES along with the firewire.
I've no experience with the deck so can't offer any help with it's settings.
As a trouble shooting measure, does the video show up if you use another DV/Analog converter (then on to a TV monitor to visually verify)?

  • Help with sound output via HDMI

My sound output via HDMI suddenly stopped worked to my TV set. I've reset the PRAM and the SMC. When I go to sound control panel for sound output, the setting is on Headphones. When I try to change it to SV420XVT1A (the tv) it immediately jumps back to headphone. I also tried a different HDMI cable to a different HDMI port on the tv. This just started after the Mac Mini had been turned off for a week. I'm using Lion and it's an 8GB Intel Core 2 Duo. Any suggestions?

I actually discovered this answer about 5 minutes after I posted the question. Thanks a lot for your help!! Funny thing is that it had worked all along with something plugged in the headphone jack but suddenly stopped working. Again, thanks!

  • No midi control in GB '08 with keyboard via Alesis io2, & no output via io2

The lengthy title sums up the two key issues I'm having.
I'm using an Alesis io2 USB interface, to run guitars and midi controller keyboards (goldstar MK49 & Terratec Midimaster Pro) into GB '08.
There're no problems getting the guitar into GB and my Guitar Rig 3 plugin, and no noticeable latency on monitoring via the system output (active speakers from headphone output). Until three days, ago I was also using the keyboards to successfully control software instruments in GB.
In detail, the issues I'm experiencing are:
    *1) MIDI Keyboard*
After attempting to create a new aggregated audio/midi device in the Audio Midi Setup utility, I can no longer get the keyboards to work. I get intermittent notes at random and also when using the keyboard data sliders, but mostly silence. Previously I had no problems with velocity sensitivity, note, modulation, pitch or track level control. Now, I'm getting nothing other than random notes.
It appears that GB, my MacBook or both are now unable to make any sense of the midi data they're receiving. I've deleted the aggregated device via the same utility but still no control. I've not yet found a 'MIDI reset' option in system prefs or the audio/midi utility. Any suggestions how I get my bits of gear talking to each other again?
*2) Audio output via Alesis io2*
SInce getting this USB interface I have been unable to route any audio back out of my MacBook through it; either to headphones from the built-in headphone jack, or monitors from the 'main L/R' connections. System prefs and the audio/midi utility both see the io2 as a device with 2x ins and 2x outs, but both tell me the device has no output controls.
Creating a new aggregate device didn't work, so any ideas how to resolve this one? Also, could creating this new aggregate device have contributed to my first issue?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Thanks in advance.

I would start by trying the i/o 2 with garageband in another user account to find out if it's a local or global problem.
Then with the alesis plugged in make sure that all your settings in the audio/midi setup utility are correct for the device.
A class compliant device means if they build the interface to a agreed upon spec it will be recognized and be able to use the apple driver (core audio). It did work because you were able to use it and change it's function when making it part of aggregate device.

  • Video output via cable - incompatible with video p...

I find that although video output via cable from the Nokia 6220 classic (and I presume other Nokia phones) works fine with TV sets, I haven't found a single video projector that accepts the output and is able to project it.  The projectors typically search their video inputs and should recognise the composite video input, but instead they just keep searching and are never able to recognise or project the video.
Is there something unusual about the video signal output from it so as not to be accepted as composite video by video projectors?

iphone4 and composite and component cable don't support mirror so they
only display images when an supported app is being used like youtube or the video app and the likes
use both the composite and the component cable with my iphone4 on 5.1 and both works fine
so do my ipod touch with 5.1 and ipad2 with 5.1
