Output Video File to 'Microsoft DV Camera And VCR' DV driver

I've just submitted this:
I would like to request that the facility be made available to output the one video file allowed on the session timeline to the 'Microsoft DV Camera And VCR' DV driver for display on a TV monitor via appropriate hardware. Please make this option in addition to the ability to display the video content on a PC monitor, i.e. the four permutations that would be available:
1) No display of video on PC Monitor or TV Monitor;
2) Display of video on PC Monitor but not on TV Monitor;
3) No display of video on PC Monitor but display on TV monitor;
4) Display of video on both PC Monitor and TV Monitor.
Dedicating a TV monitor to display the video will help to free-up PC monitor real estate for the display of other information or controls.

Hello Ryclark.
I know what you're talking about but, as far as I understand, no, it's a different thing.
A Microsoft DV Camera and VCR device could be an internal hardware card, an external IEEE 1394 connected piece of hardware such as a Canopus ADVC 110 (http://www.canopus.com/products/videoconversion.php), or a camcorder. An appropriate piece of software can access these devices via the Microsoft DV Camera and VCR device DV driver and either capture DV streams (video and audio) to the computer's hard disk (an ability that is not appropriate for Adobe Audition), or output DV streams (such as a DV file that's on an Audition session timeline) to the device. In the case of the ADVC 110, it has composite and s-video outputs for connection to, say, a video projector or TV monitor.
I find it far better to check sound against a picture that's being displayed on its intended output device i.e. interlaced video content on a TV monitor in order to assess how my soundtrack works with the picture.
When I submitted the feature request I asked only for video output and didn't specify any audio output requirements. This was because I had completely overlooked the audio side of the DV stream. I'd be happy with the output being the original DV file audio, the reasons being a) I wouldn't listen to it anyway, I'd listen to the soundtrack I'd created over the audio monitor system, and b) it stands more chance of being implemented if the request is kept simple. I could ask for the ability to route any bus or track to the audio part of the DV stream, but that would just increase the complexity of the coding. Other than the audio being in sync with the video, I'm not sure how useful that'd be anyway. If I remember correctly, a DV audio stream can be either 48kHz 16-bit stereo or 32kHz 12-bit four channel. Far better to monitor the mix from the PC's multichannel audio outputs.
I realize that there would be latency between the video displayed via a Microsoft DV Camera and VCR device and the audio played through the PC's sound card but hey, we're used to adjusting latency, aren't we?
Regards,
Steve.

  • Help! Lost all Captured Video Files Using FCE 3.5 and Lacie 1TB Drive

    Hi all...
I was wondering if anyone here could advise me on a most dissapointing occurence...
A few weeks ago, I started learning Final Cut Express 3.5. I began by setting my scratch disk to my new Lacie 1TB drive and loading about 5 tapes to the drive via the capture function in FCE... all went well. I then spent the next couple of days organizing all the clips and subclips into bins that I made based on the kind of clips I had shot (my first doc attempt on a local photographer).
Editing a trailer of sorts to practice in FCE, I slowly but surely came to understand the power and functionality of FCE... things were going well. Along with the clips, I also added folders on the hard drive with still photographs, title cards made in photoshop and sound clips that I had made of traffic noises with a mp3 recorder (all sound files were converted to aiff files in quicktime pro). All these files from the hard drive were then imported into FCE and put into their own bins in the browser to keep them seperate from everything else.
Late last night, while opening FCE for another session, the software reported that all of my video files were "offline" and "did I want to reconnect them". I'd had this warning before, but only when my Lacie drive hadn't been turned on while starting up FCE... this time it was on and I was still getting the reconnect warning.
Now I find that ALL of my video files are gone!! The 200 GB of space they took up on the Lacie drive has been regained... either deleted by FCE or by the drive itself... I don't know which. The weird thing is, that the folders containing the sound, and still photos that i put together are still fine, both on the Lacie drive AND in FCE. You'd think if it was a faulty drive that all files would be deleted, or if it was FCE going beserk, that it would kill all bins, not just the video files...
This issue really is difficult because I just don't know which item is at fault and I'm reluctant to try downloading all my data again because I don't know piece of hardware is killing my files... My FCE is not a pirated copy... am using a mac book pro 15" 2 years old w/OS 10.4.11.
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks very much
    Take care
    Mark

Problem solved - I had deleted all the necessary preference files. I did not reinstall Quicktime, thanks for the suggestions, though. I called Apple Care. A very helpful person on the other end of the phone directed me to trash the preferences (again). No luck. He asked me to create a new user, which I had not done, the problem was still there. The fix was a reinstall of FCE HD. All's good now. Thanks, Apple Care!

I am trying to connect my JVC Hard Disk Drive Camcorder to my IPAD 2 via the Apple camera kit. I am able to download photos, but video files not showing. Camera shows Mass Stoarge. How can I download videos please?

The file name only has 6 characters and I'm not sure what the .mod format is. So that's why they are not seen by the iPad.
Another way to transfer. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Problem with RTPExport output video files

Hi, I have a problem with RTPExport output video files. One side streams H263/RTP(AVTransmit2.java) and other write this steam to a file by RTPExport.java. When network conditions are ideal, output video file has same fps and same number of frames like original file. Problem occures, when theres packet lost in network, then output file has different fps,and also has less frames like original video(because it didnt write missing frames to file, and thats why it get shorter). Pls how can I achieve output file that will have the same fps like original one? How to write to file an identical copy of what I can see while receiveing video with AVReceive2.java? Its there a way to modifi rtpexport or avreceiver to do this? Thanks a lot!

Problem occures, when theres packet lost in network, then output file has different fps,and also has less frames like original video(because it didnt write missing frames to file, and thats why it get shorter). Okay, first off, the second file is smaller on purpose. RTP intentionally drops packets that are old/out of order in order to make sure real-time video stays as close to real time as it can. This is by design, so there's really nothing that can be done about it.
How to write to file an identical copy of what I can see while receiveing video with AVReceive2.java? Technically speaking, what you're getting in the RTPExport is exactly what you got on the receiving end. Any frames that are dropped during transmission will not be seen by the receiver, nor saved by the receiver.
Pls how can I achieve output file that will have the same fps like original one? I'm not 100% sure that you can, but, you can give the following idea a try. I make no guarentees that it'll work, but it should work for you...
That example is an example of a "custom transport layer" for RTP connections. Essentially, it's some code that's handed the RTP packets on the transmission end, and it's expected to deliver those RTP packets on the other end. And it doesn't care about how they get from A to B, only that they do.
If you were to replace the UDP socket in that example with a TCP socket, you would be guarenteed not to drop packets due to network reasons. Every RTP packet you were handed by the transmitter, you would then hand to the receiver. There is no guarentee that none of the packets would be cast away as "old" by the RTP protocol itself, but there's also no guarentee any of them would be. It's a crap-shoot at best, but it's certainly worth a try.

  • How do I transfer video files shot from my camera (Canon 5DMk2) which is in .MOV format into iTunes ?

how do I transfer video files shot from my camera (Canon 5DMk2) which is in .MOV format into iTunes ?  My photos and video files are first imported into Aperture then synced with iTunes. However, itunes does not capture the Video files but uploads the phtos from Aperture during sync.
I tried dragging the video files into iTunes but it still would not be captured into iTunes ?
Appreciate any help on this. Thanks

Open them in Quicktime Player 10.1. Then, use Quicktime's Share menu > iTunes.  That will create an iTunes compatible version and automatically load it into your iTunes movie library.

  • Up until approx 2 months ago I could select video clips downloaded from my camera and e-mail them.Iphoto9.4.3. This no longer works.  I have tried dragging to my desktop and exporting to my desktop.  I am not sure what has changed.  Any ideas?

Simply, sharing video via email is not advisable.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays.  That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing.
Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. All that gets you is the Movie thumbnail. If you feel you must share via email then you'll need to export the video first, and attach that. Use the File -> Export command and set the kind  to Original.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Other than that your options include:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues mentions, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.

  • Hello, I cannot show my video files on microsoft office program with  macair book 11 inc notebook while using projector

I cannot show my video files on microsoft office program with  macair book 11 inc notebook while using projector

When you next have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • How can I easily convert mod files (JVC video files) to a format recognized and usable by imovie?

How can I easily convert mod files (JVC video files) to a format recognized and usable by imovie?
Is there a way within the ios to do this or do I need to buy conversion software? If so, what is the recommended software?
    Thanks.

I don't think there are ways in iOS can do this. some conversion software like this might do the right thing for you:

  • How do I export video files from iPhoto to a backup external hard drive for safekeeping?

How do I export video files from iPhoto to a backup external hard drive for safekeeping?  Each time I try, the video will not play from the external hard drive.

Use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original.  That should get the original video file exported.  Try to export one to the Desktop first and open it with Quicktime Player.  If all goes well export the rest to a folder on the EHD. How is the EHD formatted?  It should be OS X Extended (journaled).

  • How can I get the Microsoft enhanced Point and Print compatibility driver installed on Win7 LC master?

We recently migrated from a Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012 print server. When recomposing a linked clone pool with the old 2003 server, drivers were taken care of for the printer when the user printed for the first time after desktop recompose. With 2012, any printer using the Point and Print driver doesn't seem to obtain the driver again from the 2012 server. All of our clients are running Windows 7 which means the Microsoft enhanced Point and Print compatibility driver is not installed in the OS natively.
I apparently need to figure out a way to get this installed on the host image so it trickles down to snapshots when recomposing the linked clone pool but I haven't been able to dig much information on doing this. Does anyone out there have any insight on how to accomplish this? If I recompose a pool now for a user who is using a new Point and Print driver, they get the following message that is resolved by removing the printer from their account and re-adding it:
"The 'Microsoft enhanced Point and Print compatibility driver' printer driver is not installed on this computer. Some printer properties will not be accessible unless you install the printer driver. Do you want to install the driver now?"
I figured the easy solution would be to just install a printer using the Point and Print driver and then remove it...leaving the driver behind (unless it cleaned up after itself). The problem with this is in my testing, even after removing and re-adding a printer that set off installation of this Point and Print driver on the client, any other printer that was using it still required the remove/re-add process in order to work, else I got the same message. That tells me that the driver may be custom for each printer installed?
Color me a little confused. I do NOT like the way that Server 2012 handles printers. I've come across a few other issues as well (such as duplex capabilities not being remember on the print server for a printer) that I never had with the 2003 server.
    Thanks!!

I was able to get it to work using your instructions off of here and your other thread
    Thank you!

  • What's the best choice re video file format in a camera for iDVD production

I currently am using a Sony DSC H1 digital camera which does shoot video in MPEG 1. I use MPEG Streamclip to convert those clips to MPEG 4. The results on my TV screen after processing through iMovie and iDVD are "acceptable" but I will want to upgrade to a good video camera at some point to expand my capabilities. My question is - what video file format should I look for in a camera in order to produce the easiest to work with and best quality result from my iMac?? I am using iMovie HD 5.0.2 and iDVD 5.0.1. Thanks for any suggestions.

that's what the iApps are meant for...
a superior pic quality can be accomplished with socalled 3ccd cameras, as from Panasonic...
HD (=HiDef) offers much more detail/quality, but is (yet) not supported natively to any disk-delivery format (Apple supports the BluRay consortium); external BluRay Burners (=$$$$) come bundled with a special HD-edition of Toast7...

  • Rendering white flicker on the program monitor and output video file. How to get rid of this flicker in adobe premiere pro cc 2014?

    Hello,
I have been working with long sequences in adobe premiere pro cc 2014. All of sudden, I see white flicker in the program monitor and rendered output too. The flicker does not follow any pattern. It is very random.
How to work around on this?
    Regards
    Naveen Alle

Concurrently working on the same project it requires a specific implementation in all editing programs like Avid's Unity/ ISIS shared storage. That's what you are simply not considering. none of your issues would be any problem if your projects resided on a commonly accessed server or something like that. Check respective hardware solutions.

  • A recorded video file (of 1h 2 min and 43 sec lenght) forever stuck on my 64GB iPhone?

    Hi,
It's happened to me twice now. The first time I was in a hurry to free up space so I opted to convert the video to lover resolution onboard and transfer off the lower resolution copy, then delete the original (not cool)!
Now I have time and since I suspect a known limitation of iOS, willing to go through with it until fixed.
    The details:
    1. I shot a video of lenght 1:02:43).
    2. I can play back the video on camera roll just fine.
    3. I selected all the photos/video under iPhone/DCIM/* and MOVED off the device to another location.
    4. DCIM folders were checked and empty (also after reconnection to the computer).
    5. A single 1:02:43 lenght 1080p movie file was not copied (moved) to the computer and was.
    6. A single 1:02:43 lenght 1080p movie file is/was still found in the camera roll, however not listed under DCIM folders with iPhone connected to the computer.
How do I get the original file off the device?
I should be able to record even longer videos so Is this a know IOS limitation or even a bug?
    Thanks in advance!

Make sure itunes is updated on computer, backup iphone, then...

  • Retrieving Video files originally loaded before Leopard and FCP updates

I loaded in 10 hours of video onto a LaCie drive and created a FCP project. Since then (over six months ago) my MacBookPro's operating system has been upgraded to Leopard and there has been an upgrade of FCP itself. Trying to open the project now ends in failure. The project file still exists. However, all the video has gone off-line. It is not even visible as files on the LaCie drive even though clearly 100GB of memory are still indicated as being used. Does anyone know a way of retrieving these files? The only option may be to load the video in again.

Sounds like you have a problem with the drive itself. It's not an FCP problem don't think. There are two software programs to try to see if you can recover the files, both are about $100 each though. One is Disk Warrior, and the other is Data Rescue II. DW will rebuild the directory of the drive, and if that fails, then Data Rescue II will copy to another drive the contents of any drive no matter what the condition is as long as it's spinning... Might just recapture if you can reformat that drive.
