Output video played on MacPro to an HDTV?
I am asking this on behalf of a friend who has an old MacPro . . . it's Intel and he believes it's version 1.1 but can't be sure.
He wants to output video to a flat screen TV.
Unfortunately, unlike cheap PCs, Macs don't have HDMI sockets which would make the process simple.
Is there a socket on his MacPro that could be used, possibly with some sort of adapter, to enable it to connect to the HDMI or Scart socket of the TV?
Many HDTVs have DVI inputs, verify that the TV doesn't have one first. Otherwise you need a DVI to HDMI cable. You may also need to use SwitchResX if the HDTV doesn't send the correct resolution settings back thru the cable.

Cables for outputting video to tv
are there any apple cables or any other cables that are capable of outputting video from a macbook to an hdtv. I have a HDTV with only component connections so maybe a dvi to component converter/cable? i have no idea, any help is appreciated. Thanks
would a vga to component cable work? like from the mini dvi to vga then that is connected a vga to component cable. my tv is 1080i and i just want the full resolution w/o having to pay like 180 for a transcoder.

Microsoft MVP - Windows Experience -
Hello Again,
I first wanted to thank those who helped with my initial issue. I went through the 16 steps and was able to fix the blue hue over my output video. Now I have an issue where when I go to playback in the output video, it is very choppy or the video does not move at all and all you hear is the audio. Please help if you can. Thank-You
JeffIf you were sitting down at your computer and you added 3 clips to your timeline, went to play them back, and the video was choppy and lagging. What would you do in the program to fix that problem.
Assuming the use of DV media on internal hard drives specific to that purpose, I'd reboot.
If that didn't clear it up, I'd check my hard drives for fragmentation.
If that didn't work, I'd check other clips for comparison.
If that didn't work, I'd try a different project as a test, as well as various media players to see how well they handled playback.
If that didn't work, I'd try the same clips on another computer.
If that didn't work, then chances are I violated item one by not using DV media. -
Output video is faster than preview?
Hello everyone,
Im fairly new to after effects. So new in that it took me all day yesterday to create a simple 10 second clip with a gradient ramp and floating circle particles. Here is my issue. When I click on the play button in the "preview" box, it loads the 10 second clip with the little lime green line. After loading (I think its called rendering?), I am able to play the clip from start to end as many times as I'd like. When I do this, the clip plays at the speed I want. But when I add it to the render queue and export it, the clip is much faster. Im sure there is a solution to this beginner question of mine but I just cant seem to figure out how to slow the output video down to have the same speed as when I preview the clip. When I preview the clip, right about the "preview" box I get some text in red saying "fps: 11.404/30.00 (NOT realtime). So maybe It has something to do with the fps when I export it? So my rationale was, change the composition fps to 11.4, add to render queue, then export and maybe itll be the same speed as the preview but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! You are not understanding at all how Video or After Effects works or how previews are generated. PLEASE, for your own sanity, spend a few minutes watching this series of videos on the Basic Workflow. That should point you to the right direction.
RAM preview (not accomplished with the space bar) may not ever be at full frame rate. This depends on your comp resolution and your system. You may have the comp window zoom factor set to 50% but your comp resolution set to 100%, which will slow down the rendering of a ram preview and can effect playback speed. You'll be more successful if you have resolution in the comp window set to automatic. The whole AE experience requires at least a couple of hours going over just the basics of the UI, previewing, and rendering or you will be forever frustrated and think that the software is not working when it is actually working exactly as it is supposed to. -
I moved an iMovie from a MacPro to an iMac. In the iMovie share option Media browser is greyed out (It was previously shared to the Media b
rowser on the MacPro). The video is not listed in the iDVD media list. How do I get it listed in iDVD or find a way to re-export it?Did you transfer a Quicktime movie files from the Mac Pro to your iMac? If so make sure the video plays correctly in Quicktime Player. If it does you can put it in your Movies folder and from there drag it into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones. It doesn't have to come from iMovie. You can just drag and drop into iDVD.

Can't output video to Firewire via Canopus..
Hi all,
All of a sudden today, I am not able to output video via Firewire to my Canopus ADVC-110 with Final Cut Pro 6. I do however have video output when using programs like Logic, so the Canopus appears to be working fine. I checked the Audio/Video settings in FCP and have Firewire as Video playback, but no output is going to my monitor. What settings do I need to be looking at, in FCP. It's clearly something I did, and would like to correct it, so I can monitor video again. Please advise.
Also...one other note, I can't seem to playback video through Firewire in Soundtrack Pro as well. But Logic Pro plays vide through the firewire device just fine. Anyone have any insite on this? Thanx in advance....Make sure the light is in the DV mode...press the big button a couple times to make sure. Also make sure you didn't switch to PAL mode from NTSC or something. AND...
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section

How to output video to TV or Home Theatre? (iphone)
How to output video to TV or Home Theatre? (iphone)
I recently bought a AV projector and was asked by a smirky but envious friend the same question, after watching me hook up my powerbook, having already purchased an ipod video 30gig with the UNIVERSAL DOCK with remote control and ifrared remote control I remembered reading about it also working with the iphone, so it having a s-video output with a audio mini output port, I plugged the iphone into it and it came up with a little message saying this is not a iphone compatible device, and asked me to turn on airport, I ignored the request and it just clicked over to the itunes section, I picked a video and presto instant big screen projection TV off the iphone, How IMPRESSIVE! then I went to utube launched a utube video and wow how cool it also played seamlessly, although it pays to let the Youtube videos buffer for a minute to get a better play off the EDGE net work verse the Wi-Fi, I plan on having lots of out door theatre shows this summer with this very compact multi-media package, What a hoot! Get the universal dock no glitches!

Print to Video, Playback Output Video for 1080i60 Codec?
Could someone who is using Final Cut Express 4.0 please check the characteristics under Easy Setup / HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60, as to whether FCE 4.0 provides a “Playback Output Video” capability.
In FCE 3.5, the pull down menu: Final Cut Express HD / Easy Setup / HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60, “Playback Output Video” is not available, ie “None”.
I have been using the “Print to Video” command within Final Cut Express 3.5 to export my edited video (NTSC 720x480) back onto my Sony mini DV TRV70 camcorder for archival purposes. This is usually something I do after burning discs using iDVD.
I’m about to purchase a Canon HV30 hi-def camcorder, and in the same way, would like to archive my hi def edited videos, ......that is, after burning some DVD’s, I want to archive the entire 1080i60 version back onto tape using the Print to Video command and Rec Cntrl function of the camcorder. However, the “Playback Output Video” feature of FCE 3.5 for 1080i60 seems to be “None”.
Appreciate any info as to whether FCE 4.0 has this feature, or are there any other ideas out there that would accomplish the same objective.
Thanks in advance,
BoBoHi Michel (Bonjour)
Thanks again for responding, and providing a number of good references for Blu Ray burning and burners.
I recently “captured” a short Hi Def, 2 minute bird feeder video from my Canon HV30 with Final Cut Express HD 3.5, and placed the imported segment on the Time Line viewer. All of this with FCE set in the 1080i60 AIC codec.
With no editing nor transitions nor effects, I then did a “Print to Video” of this Time Line segment, and recorded it back onto the Canon, positioning it on the tape directly following the original recording.
I then rewound the mini DV tape, and played back the two videos from the Canon into my high definition Samsung via HDMI. I couldn’t tell the difference between the two video samples, …….the original recording compared with the copy that was captured by FCE and re-recorded back onto tape.
I then took this same Time Line segment, exported to a QuickTime self contained movie (sequence), and then dragged that QT sequence into iDVD (Version 7.0.3) widescreen theme pane. It took about 30 minutes to process and burn that same short ( ~2 min) segment to a DVD using my iMac 2.1Ghz G5 w/ standard Super Drive.
I then played back that DVD disc on my HD Samsung through a standard DVD Player (no up converting capability) and could see a good rendition of the video sample, but fuzzy in spots especially during slow panning, …..a good video but NOT certainly the Hi Definition quality that I saw during playback from the Canon mini DV tape playback.
A question for you experts……is the degradation seen during DVD playback caused by the iDVD software not producing a 1060i Hi Def rendition, ….or is the DVD ok and the fact that I did not have an unconverting or Blu Ray DVD player the reason for the lack of non hi-def quality from the DVD?
Michel, …..I have not as yet purchased Toast 10 with the HD plugin. Would you expect that I would see an improved version, ….a nearly Hi Def rendition if I had used Toast 10 instead of iDVD? Or do I have to go the distance!…….that is, Toast 10, a Blu Ray burner, and Blu Ray Player as well!…..to see a version of my 2 minute sample as good as what my Canon HV30 playback is showing me?
Once again, Thanks in advance

How to make an html5 video play from Internet Explorer 9?
Hello,
I have converted a swf eLearning video to html5 thanks to the cp converter. I can have the html output file played from Chrome but not from Internet Explorer 9. Could someone advise me, do I need some code to make it work? Thank you in advance for your help.
EmilieOne of the quick and easy fixes for your problem is to go into your source code and in the <head> change the following:
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="chrome=1,IE=9" />
<meta name="viewport" content="user-scalable=yes, width=360" />
<title>IntroVideo</title>
Where it says ,IE=9"/> simply change the 9 to an 8....
this tells IE9 to act like IE8 and makes all the video content way more accessable!
hope this helps!
Cheers! -
Adobe Premiere Pro Video Play Issue
This is probably not an advanced question, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding an answer. I'm trying to use Adobe Premiere, and I'm importing my video. In the first screen, the top left video play area that I import my raw video into, I find that I'm getting a very choppy play. The choppy play is making it difficult for me to time my cuts. The screen image will freeze while the audio continues to play.
When this happened initially, I assumed it was my hardware. I was running what I considered to be a decent machine, but I figured I needed a better one. So, I went and bought a better one. Now I'm running a machine with a Quadro 3100 graphics card. It's an I7, quad core, about 2.8 ghz if I recall correctly. (It's supposed to be able to over clock or boost or something, but I don't know much about that stuff.)
Anyway. Is there some sort of setting I should be using? Any advice would be really, sincerely appreciated.John T. Smith,
My apologies for not having provided more information.
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5, and I believe I just updated it to the 5.5.2.
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
I ran the update this morning, which is why I believe I'm using the 5.5.2.
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
Windows 7, and I believe it is Professional.
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
These are Quicktime .mov files. I'm afraid I don't have a lot of other information. They are files that were transferred to my computer, but I wasn't around when they were initially done.
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
No error message.
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
The problem is consistent.
Has this ever worked before?
I've never seen it play smoothly.
What other software are you running?
Just typical Microsoft Office programs, and Chrome, and maybe Explorer. But I rarely run anything else while I'm attempting to work in Premiere.
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
To my knowledge, no.
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
I'm using the MSI WT Series WT60 2OK 3K-615US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?
I do not know how to use this.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?
It only happens to the raw footage and timeline footage. The output is fine, assuming I can find the correct place to make the cuts. -
No audio output when playing flash player??
No audio output when playing flash player. Any suggestions? thanks.
Without going into detail on the DVD aspect of your question (ripping/decrypting a copyprotected DVD is illegal in some countries), what format is the audio in that file? Have you tried transferring (and then playing) any other video files, did they work?

Why is my .H264 rendered video playing in IE with darker colours?
I have created a video using black text on a white background. When I use Media Encoder to export as a mp4 file, the finished video always plays in Internet Explorer with a grey (instead of white) background. My graphics card is ATI. My colleague tried it on his computer and it played with a white background as intended. His graphic card is NVIDIA.
Under 'Project settings' in After Effects, I set the working space colour settings to: sRGB IEC61966-2.1. I read that you cannot choose colour output in Media Encoder so I put a 'Color Profile Converter' effect to my layers with the output profile set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
After rendering out as a lossless avi and then using ME to create a mp4, the video plays back in IE with a grey background. Most confusing... and I am wondering what I am doing wrong as I found a mp4 video that plays with a white background here: http://media.w3.org/2010/05/video/movie_300.mp4
Any help is greatly appreciated.Hi Rick, I have turned off colour management and the video still plays with a noticeably grey background.
In the attached screenshot from Internet Explorer 11, my video is on the right, and the video I found is on the left.
In Firefox and Safari my video plays with a white background, it's just Internet Explorer that plays it with grey. Is it possible that it is Internet Explorer's problem and not my video render settings? -
Output video to USB flash drive using Premiere Elements 7?
Is it possible to output a finished project to a USB-connected flash drive instead of burning it to a DVD? I want to be able to plug the flash drive into another computer and have the video play in the absence of Premiere.
Ozpeter and Steve, thanks for the timely reply. My problem is I didn't think the issue through enough to fully ask the question. I thought perhaps DVD players had auxillary USB inputs, but checked and mine at least don't. I guess that leaves me with a Windows Media file that would play on laptops or desktops, but then maybe a DVD file would work better.
I have a nearly 4GB DVD comprised of family picture slideshows sandwiching a series of video clips that works just fine on my computers, TV, portable DVD player and player/projector. I'd love to be able to carry that file around on, say, a Kingston Data Traveler to show others.
As I understand it, I need to again render this show, saving it to my hard drive, and then copy that output to my portable USB device. -
Mute button help - does not mute video playing (CP8)
Hi, I have a video playing on one slide and tested out the mute button on the player, sadly the button does not mute out the video. Is there any workaround to this? Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Are you working on a MAC or Windows ?
Is that an Event Video or Multi-Slide Synchronized Video ?
Are you publishing SWF or HTML5 ?
HTML5 output generates a different play bar for Videos, it does not use Skin provided by Captivate.
For Captivate 8 published HTML, you need to use the mute button on that video.
Note : No issue with Captivate 8 published SWF, mute button does mute out the video
Thanks,
Vikram Gaur
