A computer with PICASA and PE, and the user chooses picasa to add photoeffects, like sepia
although PE can do these, the effects are not as easy, intuitive....
It would be nice if PE had a similar beginer interface

Adobe already offers a (paid) cross-platform/device solution for accessing your photos, called Adobe Carousel. However its functionality is now very limited. It does not sync with Lightroom at all.

My guess is that they will release a new version pretty soon or simultaneously with the final Lightroom 4. The press release of LR4 beta even mentions Adobe Carousel will get a new name: Adobe Revel. Major announcment pending...

Warp-a-tron for the Blackberry Playbook has been updated to V1.2.
Along with the original wide range of effects you can add to the Playbook's camera (front or back), in real-time, a new 'Halftone' effect as been included.

Has anyone seen this photo effect before and if so do you know the process involved?

I have seen this photo effect before and was wondering if anyone on the forum has any knowledge of how it produced in Photoshop. I am sure Poster Edges has something to do with it but I can not seem to replicate the effect.

Elements 7 tint black and white action in photo effects palette

I have somehow deleted my tint black and white photo effects atn file. Can someone with PSE 7 copy their tint black and white.atn file and send to me. I have the png and thumbnail files, but would like to get the .atn file without re downloading my software. The action is in the photo effect palatte. Will be very much appreciated. Debbie

If Photoshop manages color, you need to pick the correct profile for the printer/paper. The profile will be called something like e.g. <printer name> Epson Premium Glossy, if that's the paper you're using.

I have a white haze over photos when taking a picture with my flash

I have a white haze over photos when taking a picture with my flash. What can I do to fix it?

After the ios7 update, my wife's phone began having these same issues and we assumed it was a flaw with the update.
But after some trial and error, we concluded it was the illumination of the white plastic backing of the iPhone 4. We tried a different protective case, we blackened the apeture of the black case with a black sharpie, none of those things worked.
It was noted that the white and blurry photos only occurred with a case installed. Without a case, the photos were perfect. It is a *** issue.
Since we were using a case and appearance was not that big of an issue, I decided to apply a strip of black electrical tape with holes punched out for the camera and flash mechanisms and reapplied the protective case. This tacky fix solved 95% of the white blurry look to the flash photos.
So a work-around is to apply a non-transparent piece of tape, or sticker with appropiate sized holes for the camera lens and flash LED on the back of the white plastic phone case. It's tacky, it's a poor design from apple, but it works.

Distressed Photo Effect

Can anyone give any pointers on how I might get this Distressed Photo Effect in Photoshop?

Generally this is done by having a texture layer on top of the image. So you might have a picture of some fabric. Convert that image to black & white and put it on a layer above your image, then change the blend mode to something like Overlay.

Installing new actions where is photo creations/photo effects folder?

I've purchased a new Windows 7 32 bit OS, installed PSE7 and now trying to install my favorite "actions" but cannot locate the appropriate folder to drop them into! Show Hidden files and folders is activated. Also not showing is the Mediadatabase.db3 folder. Have also tried copying into the search bar the approriate file string but still no luck. Have searched the forums to see if someone else has had this issue but apparently not.
Hope someone can help.

The path to install the action is:
Start Menu
Computer
Local Disk (C:) (This could possibly be a different letter, but is usually C and most likely will be your computer’s root directory.)
ProgramData (If you don’t see this, it’s probably hidden. Go to Start/Control Panel/Appearance and Personalization/Folder Options/Show Hidden Files and Folders and activate the radio button next to Show Hidden Files & Folders)

Photo Creations
Photo Effects
Mediadatabase is in 7.0/Locale/en_us.

Is anyone using iPhoto having a problem with the slide show using shatter where it does not let you put a title over photo? It use to work but it no longer lets you place a title over the opening photo.

Is your signature still current?(iPhoto '08, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)) I can confirm this for iPhoto '11; Shatter will only show the text slide title between the slides. Ken Burns and Classic theme can still be set to overlay the caption and title directly over the slides.

Can anyone help me find my lost layer styles and photo effects in the Effects Panel?

I am using the trial version of Photoshop Elements 9. I downloaded and tried to install a glitter style. When I went back to my workspace I had no layer styles or photo effects in the Effects panel....not one. The filters are the only ones there now. What have I done?

Quit the editor, then go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Locale\en_US (or your location) and delete mediaDatabase.db3. When you restart the editor, give it time to rebuild the panel contents before you try to use PSE.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Deleted Photo Effect Permanently

I am new to Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. In photo effects of edit mode, I clicked on "delete effect permanently" on color fade center thinking that I was deleting effect on that photo only. I'm afraid that I've deleted theeffect permanently for future editing. Can I recover this effect?

You'll need to uninstall and reinstall, I'm afraid.

I'd say:
1. AE rules with lights and shadows. (We figure this is coming eventually in Motion, has to.)
2. AE rules with the concept of nesting sequences.
I'm totally biased toward After Effects but I am slogging through Mark's instructional materials to get my Motion chops up to the point where I can take advantage of everything it has to offer.
If you have FCS, there's no question you need to become absolutely fluent with Motion. If you are planning on making a living in the motion graphics and special effects niches, there's no question you must be fluent with After Effects to be taken seriously. But you will find yourself using every tool at your disposal to satisfy the needs of your clients.

I have been looking, unsuccessfully, for a photo effect in AS3. I am a noob so I don't know how to programme complex effects. I could do it in after effects but I would prefer it in AS3.

its been a while since i used AS2 but i think AS3 has more effects (filters) - although some of them cant be set via the IDE (see http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/filters/package-d etail.html for the list)
if we were restricted to 'non-coded' effects, the possibilities would be much reduced...

Two-Photo Effect...Missing Step(s)?

I am attempting to follow a "Finishing Touches" tutorial by Dave Cross (from Layers Magazine, Jan/Feb 2007, pgs. 34-38) and seem to be missing a step (or more?) to achieve the desired result. Basically it is a variation on a two-photo effect, where the smaller "focal" image has a stroke applied and then the "sprayed strokes filter" applied to that. I cannot get the filter to have ANY effect on the stroke!
Here is the variation, according to the tutorial:
VARIATION 2: Here I made a selection based on the smaller photo by Command-clicking (PC: Ctrl-clicking) on its thumbnail in the Layers palette, then added a layer on which I created a stroke (using Edit>Stroke). Then, I applied the Sprayed Strokes filter (Filter>Brush Strokes>Sprayed Strokes) to the stroke layer.
Now, I can get the sprayed strokes filter to apply to the entire image...not the desire result. OR, I click on the filter, but nothing appears in the filter preview window and nothing happens to the stroke when I apply it.
Apparently, there are a couple of "clicks" that I am missing, but I can't figure out what they are for the life of me!
I am using PS CS4 v 11.0.2 on a Wn XP sp3 OS.

miss_marple...THANKS! Adding the white fill to the layer worked. I still can't seem to get the brush stroke to extend beyond the outside edge of the stroke (which his example shows) but I'm hoping that I can achieve that with a bit more experimentation.
Noel, I had thought about the deselection idea and had tried any number of combinations of what was selected and what wasn't. That's how I came up with the multiple issues from the OP. But thanks for thinking of that. I know that many times those "little steps" get overlooked when documenting the exact process because they are either intuitive, repetitive, or simply missed in the bigger picture!
I can always count on the posters here to help me find a solution!
