Over 9000 photos in my iPhoto library have just vanished - it says they're there but I can't view them
iphoto has just lost over 9000 photos. They have just vanished. I NEED THEM. Please somebody tell me what to do.

Quick update, the duplicate of the comic-con episode downloaded succesfully, and so has the first episode of Supernatural season 8. Blue dots appear to their left in the library.
All the Vampire Diaries episodes (except the bonus comic-con double) have vanished, but I paid for them !
They're not anywhere on my harddrive either.
Which is new by the way, this is a new MacbookPro, literally set it up today.
So it would seem this is a case of purchased and pseudo-downloaded episodes that ended up beinge gobbled up by some iTunes black hole, leaving me with no money, and no episodes.
Need help, confirmed. -
I've lost my photos (crashed hdd, iPhoto library on Time Machine corrupt too). Is there a way to create a picture from the thumbnail that remains in iPhoto? The quality is obviously poor, but better than nothing.
Time machine should have a good copy - how are you determining that it is corrupt
If you want the thumbnails as photos right click on the iPhoto library and make a copy of the data folder and then import it into a new iPhoto library - it contains your thumbnails

After updating to IOS 6.0.1 I cannot copy photos from the iPhoto library to the iPhone. The events appear correctly but the photo count in all the Events is 0

I believe you will find you can again sync Photos if you delete the "iPod Photo Cache", but predict that any subsequent attempt will fail. In my case, the enxt sync removes all the photos again - I've seen other reports of error messages upon sync. Mine just fails silently. :-) -

Issue is when i tried to save the presentation on MBA Keynote 09 - Keynote crashed.
I tried to save is as Powerpoint in MBA and it crashed as well!

I have an imac 20-inch Late 2006 model on OSX 10.7.4 running iphoto 11, somehow the application ccleaner has deleted my photos from my iphoto library. I have time machine but the iphoto library file is missing when I access time machine.
To restore photos I have followed the steps below
Quit iPhoto.
Connect your Time Machine drive.
In the Finder, open the folder containing your iPhoto Library. Unless you've moved your iPhoto Library, it can be found in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library.
Enter Time Machine. (Time Machine can be found in the Dock or in the /Applications folder.)
Choose your desired backup. The timeline on the right side of the screen displays a purple tick mark for each of the backups stored on your Time Machine drive.
Select the iPhoto library you would like to restore, and click the Restore button.
I dont get the option in step 6 as I dont have an iphoto library file to choose? Does anyone know why?Hi Barry
Thanks but as mentioned all is intact, even at step 3 I can see the current library in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library which has no photos, but when I access time machine any point before the NOW option the iphoto library in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library is missing from the finder window.
As you can see here it is
and now its gone. I have no explanantion.
How do I go about moving this question as you suggested. -
I have some loops from acid 5 which I have dragged in a folder to the loop browser. Some of them retain the folder name in the View: and some don't. I have also had some that seem to go in but I can't find them. If I try to add them again, I get a msg that they are already there. Where should I look?
It may be best to recreate the folder and the smart playlists from scratch.

Newly imported photos in shared iPhoto library have wrong permissions
I have recently encountered some problems with a shared iPhoto '09 library. When I initially shared it by placing it in users/shared iPhoto prompted to fix the permissions and everything was hunky dory. However, it seems that any newly imported photos do not have their permissions set properly so that the other user of the library on my computer can't do useful things like edit or email the newly imported photos.
Looking inside the library reveals that the permissions on newly imported photos are set to read write for me as the owner and no access for 'everyone'. If I hold down cmd-opt and repair permissions it is all fine - until I import some new photos and then the permissions are wrong for those.
I noted this effect on a pristine iPhoto library that I created to test this as well as my venerable iPhoto library.
Is there something I can do to change this behaviour so newly imported photos get the correct permissions set and the shared user of this library (my wife) is able to edit and email photos I import (and, presumably, vice versa)?I have made changes to permissions to my old library a number of times. Originally this was to enable sharing in earlier versions of iPhoto and it worked fine. For example I've added a group that consists of myself and my wife and given it read and write permissions and applied that to all enclosed items. I've also had iPhoto repair the permissions as per the startup options.
Notwithstanding this, I created a new library in my pictures folder; moved it to the shared folder; switched accounts and allowed iPhoto to repair permissions; switched back and then imported new photos. While most files and folders inside the package are OK (including any modified files and the enclosing originals/year/event folder) the actual original photo files themselves have the permissions problem. This seems to prevent emailing or editing by the other account. -
Photos from my iphoto library are just green in imovie - Why?
I just bought iMovie 10 and I am using maverick. I imported a project from iphoto to imovie and started to work wih clips and photos. But now most of my potos are just green

Why?Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

I am trying to move across & view my home movie clips from my old PC to my new Mac but I am unsure what software I need to view them. They are from a Canon video camera originally. Please advise how this is done!

my slides are all mixed up after i imported them into a new slideshow. i just copied them from the events and dragged the icon to the new slideshow but the have re arranged themselves into a random order. About 2 weeks ago I plugged my wife's iphone 4S to our pc to update it to IOS 7and backup her iphone info to icloud. When I was done my wife's iphone had my daughter's ipod info on it and I can't find my wife's info on icloud anywhere. My wife has about 6 years of business contacts on her iphone so she is rather upset. Is there a way to recover her contacts?
You don't have to wipe anything, but when you get a chance make sure you backed up to icloud.
What that means is your contacts inside of the phone either physically or liquid damaged. To check
which, you can look inside and if you see a little pink, that would give you a water damage. If you don't
see pink it means that you to many times plugged in that charger the other way or tried to. May be
used some other things to plug in. If you flash the light in you may be able to see those contacts.

Your iCloud backup doesn't contain your music. It will restore music purchased from the iTunes store to your iOS device if you restore the backup by redownloading it from the iTunes store. You can also redownload music purchased from the iTunes store to your iTunes library on your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519. This will not recover music from other sources.
To transfer music from your phone to your computer, you will need to extract it using 3rd party software such as Touch Copy. -
I have many apps that say they are downloading but have stoped
Since the OS7 ipdate I have many apps that have stoped working because they are "updating". This has been like this for 5 6 days now. I have looked at the App Store under purchased and none of my apps say update. When I try to open a darkened app from this page it locked up my mini. Will I have to do a reset????
If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.
