Over as many as 490 duplicates for one event in my Calendar

As you can see it has gone completely haywire.
I have run “DupeDevil” - which took about 32 hours - and my calendar seemed fine.
Then I synced and I was back to square one, (NOW I no longer sync with my “Outlook for Mac 2011” calendar)
I have just “joined” iCloud but am weary about using it till I’ve gotten my calendar in order.

I am confused, here you mention Outlook and that you have stopped syncing with it.
What are you trying to sync, and to what?

  • How do I set up multiple alerts for one event?

So, I'm currently using MS Exchange to sync my google calendar with my iphone5, and almost everything's working pretty nicely, events would get pushed to my phone right away as I put it on my computer. But the thing is, my phone will only alert me for the earliest alert if I had multiple alerts set up for one event on google calendar. How can I fix it? Any advice would be appreciated!

I have a similar issue with a slight twist.
I have 'My Card' setup properly, however, I do have 5 email addresses that I use and these are listed on 'My Card'.  When I select the option to add an email alert on a calendar event, the app is picking up two addresses from the set of 5 and makes me pick one.
I would like to select one of the other addresses to be the default for sending out the alerts.  Is there a way to do that.  If it is helpful, the app is picking up 2 of the 'Work' email addresses.  I don't know if the home vs work designation would make a difference.
Note: I am looking for a solution to pick one a specific address from the contact card to send out the alert email.  I am NOT looking to have a discussion as to why I have 5 addresses.
    Thanks

  • How to change calendar setting for one event in a repeating series?

Is there any way to change the calendar setting (color) for a single event in a repeating series without changing the color of all events in that series? It seems one event in a repeating series is linked to all other events in that series even if you change the time and/or date first.
The only workaround I've found is to create a new event Identical to the event in question except with the different calendar, then delete the original event. This would be a lot easier if the OS would ask the user if s/he wants to apply the calendar change to all future events or just this one. Or if there was a way to more easily duplicate a single event, that would also save me a lot of time.
    Thanks for any responses.

The assignment of colors to calendars on your iPad is pretty simplistic. You can set a color for each calendar and all events (repeating or single instance) placed in a calendar use the calendar's color; however, you cannot set a color for one instance of a calendar event. The workaround you came up with is similar to the method I use. I have a calendar labeled "Priority Events" (Red) that I use for important instances of standing meetings. Oftentimes I leave the event in question in the calendar and simply place a priority event in the same time slot; it clutters up the calendar a bit but helps me visually.

  • On iPhoto I can see all the pictures for one event, but about 9 out of 106 I can't move to print or place it anywhere else?

On iPhoto I can see all the pictures for one event, but about 9 out of 106 I can't move to print or place it anywhere else?

Basics from the manual are restrt, reset, restore.
Have you tried each of these?

  • Do not show dots for 'free' events in the calendar month view

I wish I could.... not show dots for 'free' events in the calendar month view. For an overview of when I have hard-scheduled events in the calendar it's pretty tedious and slow to go day -by day, and other views... Instead the dot  in the month view... - why does it show even "free" events? Any ideas, tips?
    Thanks!

Unfortunately there is no option to disable the dots.

  • How to create many objects listening for one event

I'm experimenting with the EventDispatcher class and I have a
test class working. I want to use a loop to create a variety of
movie clips that all listen for an event that gets dispatched every
half a second. I have the event dispatching properly. My problem is
that when creating the objects, the temporary variable I use to
hold each created object has a life that extends beyond the loop in
which it is instantiated. Rather than all five created objects
changing color, only the last one changes color (see the code
below--it lives on the first frame of an FLA file).
This is not entirely surprising when I look at the code --
'this' refers to the global scope and 'square' refers to the last
created object that it pointed to. Here's the resulting trace:
handler runing, square name is square 4
    this class name is global
handler runing, square name is square 4
    this class name is global
handler runing, square name is square 4
    this class name is global
handler runing, square name is square 4
    this class name is global
handler runing, square name is square 4
    this class name is global
How can I modify this code so that each square object changes
    its own color?

graphics.clear in the context of that function handler in my
code would refer not to the squares but to the global scope,
wouldn't it? In which case you'd be clearing all the graphics from
your top level movie. I tried changing 'square.graphics' to just
'graphics' in my handler and my squares just remained the original
    steady black.
    Your code doesn't use a loop and therefore isn't re-using a
variable. You've escaped my 'logical errors' through brute force.
(BTW, I think my code would work in AS2 if I used the old-school
draw methods). Suppose you had to create 100 objects? Would you
want to manually instantiate each one, typing that function over
and over again? You'd have 500 lines of highly redundant code!
Maybe try your example using a loop instead? I think you'll
find it's pretty tough to sneak any vars like 'i' or 'square' from
the global scope into the handler--the handler refers to the
living, breathing variable rather than it's value at the time the
handler was instantiated. Furthermore, you can't sneak any
information about the square into your handler via the event object
because the event object is created in a totally different place.

  • Multiple places for one event

Hi, does anybody know if it is possible to add multiple locations to one event in iPhoto? Thanks in advance.

You can only assign directly one location to each event, but each photo in the event may be assigned to an individual location. When you display the event in places you will see all the different locations.

  • Using a different color for each event in a calendar?

I don't know if this is possible. If I have a calendar that is green. Every event I set up in that calendar is green. So if you have a full day of events each day on the calendar just looks like this mass of green.
Is there any way (as I've seen in other calendar apps.) to change the color for each event so that they stand out more.
I see references on the net to an iCal plugin called iCalibrate which seems to do this but it also doesn't seem to be available any more? But it said...
" iCalibrate 1.3 can now change any color, anywhere in any of your calendars"
That's pretty much what I'd like to be able to do.
    Pat.

Ok I found a similar question on this forum that was answered and helped. If anyone comes across this wondering the same thing, copy and paste your SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css file and rename the copy to something like "(Title_Of_Page)SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" and then replace "SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" in your code to <link href="../SpryAssets/(Title_Of_Page)SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" and then you are good to go.

  • How many channels are required for one G711 Call on T1 PRI

    Hi Everyone,
    Just have a basic question.
Lets say i want to make one G711 call which is compressed. below will be the bandwidth required.
    Calculation:
Total packet size (bytes) = (Layer 2 Ethernet header 6 bytes) + ( compressed IP/UDP/RTP header of 2 bytes) + (voice payload of 20 bytes) = 28 bytes. Total packet size (bits) = (28 bytes) * 8 bits per byte = 224 bits
    PPS = (64 Kbps codec bit rate) / (160 bits) = 409 pps
Bandwidth per call = voice packet size (224 bits) * 409 pps = 90 Kbps
    From what i know, 1 channel on a T1 has a bandwidth of 64kbps.
    Question:
Does this call require two channels to start the conversation?
    Will this call be successful?
How will one channel accommodate this call?

No, 64 kbps basically matches the payload, and the TDM T1 trunk needs no IP header overhead, so it matches, even if it did not you are trying to compare apples and oranges as when you send the call to channelized T1 circuit it's TDM based (bandwidth is irrelevant), if by T1 you meant data T1 then the circuit would not be channelized and would provide total 1.544 mbps.

  • ICal sending multiple invites for one event

I have an mixed environment where my Mac users running OSX 10.6.4 sync with our MS Exchange 07 using Mail 4.3 and iCal 4.0.3 . Everything is syncing correctly between the two environments, but we have run in to an annoying snag.
We have multiple users that have Read/Write Access to multiple calendars. Whenever somebody creates an event on one these calendars, even if the user is not an invitee they receive an email notification. The notification is on behalf of the calendar that the event was created for. If the user is an invitee they then receive 2 invites for the same event. This only happens with users who have Read/Write access to these calendars
I have searched high and low and can not find anybody that has the same issue as I do. Any assistance or advice in how to make so that users with Read/Write access only receive notifications to events they are invited to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time!
    Cheers,
    Nic Young

I think I know what can help. I also support Mac users in a mixed environment, and find that being able to access a Windows machine to test settings for my iCal users is very very helpful. If you do not have one, I could also fix this one by adding the user's account to my one Mac that runs Entourage.
On a PC: set up one of the problem accounts in Outlook, then go to Tools->Options & click on the Delegates tab. Click on a Delegate name (if they all have the same permission level, you can select all), then click the Permissions button. If the delegate have "Editor" permissions, there will be a little checked box that sends the delegate copies of all those meetings. De-select it.
Lemme know if you want Entourage instructions or if that does it for you.
The real question, of course, is why are there so many Exchange functions that iCal can't touch. Grrrr....

  • Hi, I was trying to copy and paste a lot of  info for one day on my calendar to another day and an error message popped up saying that the system responded with an error. Msg won't go away I force quit ical

Need help for trying to unfreeze a message on my ical.  I was trying to copy and paste some appointment info from one day to another on my ical and a message popped up saying the system responded with an error.  All of my info was below the message.  I can't get that message to go away or work on the ical now at all.  I try to force quit ical and have shut down the computer and it still comes up.  Any suggestions?

    K,
Try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. To find that Library folder, if you are using Lion, use Finder>Go Menu>Depress the "Option" key>Library. Drag the .plist file to your desktop, and log out/in or restart.
Next, make sure that you are not connected to the internet. Then to to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder and remove any files with "Cache" as a part of the file name. Use the same method as listed above to get to the correct Library Folder. Log out/in, or restart and check iCal for functionality.

  • I can't stop getting reminders for one event

The event happened a week ago and I've been getting daily, hourly reminders that it's about to happen. I've tried deleting the event and it reapears in front of my eyes. I've tossed the plist and other iCal preferences and that didn't do anything.
I've had this happen in the past (but never this bad) and things eventually went away but this dang sukker is just plain taunting me.
I can't find any preference, contextual menu, or any other item to kill or remove or stop this from happening. That **** popup meeting remidner is about as bad as any paperclip saying "It looks like you are about to have a meeting! Do you need help with that meeting?"
Short of deleting iCal, any suggestions?
Mac OS X.6.8, iCal 4.0.4. And yes I've done all the maintenance stuff (rebuilt Directory, ran permissions, deleted caches, etc.)
    Thanks,
    Gary

Add me to the list.  I just signed up as a developer and thought I had done something wrong.  Glad to know it's not just me, but sad since i was all excited to download my first app onto my phone

  • AppleScript for recurring events in Outlook calendar

I'm trying to write an AppleScript that will create a new appointment with properties that are derived from the properties of a specific appointment that is part of a recurring series in an Outlook calendar.
    Outlook 14.2.5
    AppleScript Editor version 2.3
In the Microsoft Outlook window in the editor, the calendar event help information shows two distinct properties:
is recurring (boolean, r/o):  Indicates whehter an event is part of a recurring series of events.    (the typo in "whehter" is actually in the help information!)
is occurrence (boolean, r/o) : Indicates whether an event is an occurrence of a recurring series
I don't understand the difference between these two.  If I have a series of appointment (say one meeting every day for three days), and I have selected the second appointment in that series, "is occurrence" is false, but "is recurring" is true.  What is the difference?
My ultimate objective is to extract the start time of the specific appointment that is selected, but when I use the "start time" property of the selection (the second appointment in the series of three appointments), my script is returning the start date/time of the first appointment in the series.
    set selectedEvent to selection
set startTime to start time of selectedEvent   <-- this is returning the start time of the first appointment in the series - not the start time of the particular occurrence that is selected in the calendar (which is what I actually want)

  • Mount_smbfs fails for one file server but works on another

I have a simple terminal .command file that i've written and added to my login items. this script mounts two SMB file shares from different servers (win2003). this script has been working for over a month now it fails for one server and works fine for the second one.
    script looks like this:
    mkdir /Users/me/Desktop/fs1
    mkdir /Users/me/Desktop/fs2
    mount_smbfs //winserv1/fs1$ /Users/me/Desktop/fs1
    mount_smbfs //winserv2/fs2$ /Users/me/Desktop/fs2
When it runs it should use my kerberos credentials to authenticate me to the winserv1 but seems to fail and then prompts for password. If I enter the password in the terminal window it fails.
the mount_smbfs command for fs2 on winserv2 works fine and uses my kerberos credentials.
i looked through the system.log for clues and found:
    Oct 8 12:11:06 is3018 login[2009]: USER_PROCESS: 2009 ttys000
    Oct 8 12:11:08 is3018 gssd-agent[2017]: Error returned by svcmach_gss_init_seccontext:
then I am prompted for password in terminal (which should not happen). i enter password and it fails
    then console log responds with:
Oct 8 12:11:08 is3018 gssd-agent[2017]: Major error = 851968: Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information
    Oct 8 12:11:08 is3018 gssd-agent[2017]: Minor error = 100004:

    Oct 8 12:11:33 is3018 login[2009]: DEAD_PROCESS: 2009 ttys000
the cryptic log file entries don't mean much to me - anyone have any ideas what might be happening?

Turns out that our network time server was having some problems and the the two servers had drifted several minutes off the correct time. Once the time on each server was corrected my kerberos authentication issues resolved.
