Over clocking using core center

over clocking using core center
ok rather a noob at this and thought I would try a safer way of overclocking.
The program ticked away up til 300mhz on the left hand monitor at which point I turned it off as a 50% increase in the FSB seemed rather too much.
Has anyne used this prog or can point me to any documents about what it does!

thanks for the info.
the page below.... seems to show that you can over clock from core center on the desk top   do I have to change bios setting to manua to alow it to work or is the review a bit

  • Using Core Center program among non Administrators in Windows XP

I have core centre installed on my PC and it works fine on my windows XP account (Administrator) but when someone tries to log on to another account everything starts up fine apart from corecenter which displays an error message:
Failed To Load Hardware Monitor Driver
    followed shortly by
No Hardware Monitor. If I click on the dialog the computer re-boots.
Can anyone find away around this?
Also I have P4 2.6mhz system on neo865 board. everything runs fine but my bios is not up to date (I have version 2.1). Should I reflash the bios with the most recent version (2.5) or is it taking uncessary risks?

No that has nothing to do with BIOS, simple the application require administrative rights to run properly.
Try execute application when you are logged with restricted acc. with "run as" with administrative account, see if it can work properly.

  • K8t neo fis2r - core center not functional after installing sound card

Hi.  I had been using Core Center with Dynamic Overclocking enabled and all was well.  When idle, my amd64 3000+ (2.0ghz), was running at 800mhz.  Under load it would go up to 2100mhz.  But yesterday, I installed an Auzentech x-plosion sound card and after i installed the driver, the dynamic overclocking stopped working, my cpu is running at max all the time.  (The variable fan speed function still works).
I checked the IRQ and there is no conflict, I uninstalled the amd64 driver and core center and reinstalled.  Still does not work.  I uninstalled the auzentech driver, rebooted, and cancelled new hardware wizard.  Then the variable cpu frequency feature worked.  Once I install the driver for the auzentech, dynamic oc stops working.  I was thinking to try another pci slot but it appears to be a software issue rather than a hardware issue.  The new version of Core Center does not work with my board even though msi says it's compatible so I'm still using the one that always worked.  The amd driver is the latest and also always worked.
Has anyone else had a similar problem, perhaps using the auzentech sound card with this board and Core Center?  Or does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Hey guys, I just went to AMDs site to get the dashboard utility mentioned and in the readme, it stated that in XP, the power option needs to be set to portable/laptop.  But in the past, I read that it needed to be set to "always on" and that it is, in fact, what I had it set to before when cool n quiet was working.  Now I change it to "portable/laptop" and it works and set to "always on" doesn't work anymore.  So now Core Center reports I'm at 33c @800mhz at no load.   I don't get it???  I'll have to try an alternate utility just to verify that is indeed working.
btw, QV, I checked system properties, (right-click my computer > properties, or "system" in control panel) and on the "general" tab, it indicates an AMD64 3000+, 2.0GHz.  But I'm pretty certain the clock frequency is dropping now as reported by core center because of the decrease in the cpu temp at idle.  Am I looking in the right place in XP?  I have XP pro, SP2
Again, thanks for the input and Happy New Year

  • Newbie question on Core Center

When i bring my FSB up in Core Center manually
(not using the auto button) the vcore doesn't change and
my system runs unstable is there a way i can bring it up
or is core center supposed to bring the vcore voltage up automatically?

When you use corecenter to overclock, The auto overclock feature will turn up your FSB, but it wont touch the VCORE. you have to adjust that in the bios.Or you can do it yourself on corecenter. When I tried to overclock using core center, it would overclock on the desktop but it would not be overclocked in the bios. I would reccomend that you use A program called clockgen in conjunction with speed fan. clock gen will allow you to overclock from your desktop and even set the PCI/AGP settings independantly of the FSB. Speed fan wil allow you to adjust you fans to get maximum airflow and it will allow you to keep an eye on temps as well. get rid of corecenter

  • Core Center does not show up!

    HI Guys,
I have this problem while using Core Center. When I install it and restart my pc, my tasklist shows corecell with a processor usage of 50%, but is does not show up anywhere in my taskbar. The program is running, but I cannot see the screen.
    MSI 875P NEO-FIS2R with 1.8 bios
Can anyone help me out? I don't understand

    I found it !!!!
The problem was my Yamaha SW-1000G. When i remove it from my system Core Center works fine under WinXp.

  • New core center version, not working!

Iv ealier used Core center with success on my old ms-6561 board. Just formated my drive and wanted to download again, but only found this new one and it does not support my board. Where cfan I find older core senter files?

core center does not display the temps correctly. download a program called speedfan. its better than corecenter

  • O/C with Core Center won't save.

I am trying to o/c with Core Center utility, and it works quite nicely.  However, the o/c session will not save. as soon a I restart, all setting are lost and I have to use Core Center to re- o/c.  Are there any BIOS updates to fix this?
    Thanks.

This is true...Core center...is crap.  Don't use it.  In fact, save yourself a few headaches by uninstalling corecenter altogether.  Dynamic overclocking utilities, overall, are faulty.  Corecenter is no different.

  • CORE CENTER = TROUBLE!

If I were you I wouldn't use CORE CENTER. I had it running on both of my new NEO FIS3R machines (I just built two seperate machines). Well wouldn't you know it, the HSF totally stopped DEAD on BOTH machines! (at different times of course) The alarms were screaming! I didn't know what had happened until I opened the cases. Needless to say I stopped using Core Center. If you are using it now you should seriously consider dumping it!

been asked to make sure you are all using latest version
and ask have you changed any settings as they say cannot get it to do this in the lab
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/software/swr/spt_swr_list.php
any of you tried speedfan with the board
    http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
as at least with that you can set minimum speed fans can be forced to,you can set it from 0 percent were board can disable it to 100 percent
so if you set it to 70 percent it can never turn fan off ,just lower it a bit to take edge of its noise
but all this assumes it understands the boards chips, winbonds etc

  • K8t-neofis2r Core center qestion

Question about this vcore reading I never really noticed this tell now
the Vcore shows at 1.550 and is bolded in red? this is using core center
    but what is vcore?

Don't trust core-center too much, it's more a guessing tool then actual very accurate
I use it only to see major changes if I think there are, not to monitor or anything.

  • Core center overclock bug

There is a bug with the new core center. I usually use the auto overclock to see how high it goes and that gives me an idea of where to start hard setting it in the bios. I can set the fsb to 210MHz and click apply and it does nothing. All utilities show that I am still running at 200MHZ FSB

Core Center is not the Greatest thing from MSI, Alot of users choose not to use Core Center because of thier BAD experience. My self i would not recommend C,C
to overclock or for temps readings, Overclocking is best done in the Bios- If you are do afraid to change some settings in the bios then you should not Overclock your PC. AS for temp I Highly recommend SpeedFan as it reads from the Bios Difference between the both C,C & Speedfan a few degree's lower in temps.
Personaly I think C,C is still ment for P4's and not AMD's or they need to fix a few bugs in core center before they bring it out on a new boards

  • K8T Neo-V V2.0 not supported by Core Center?!

    Hey you Guys!
    My System Config is:
    K8T Neo-V V2.0 (newest Bios) Ms 7144 Ver: 1
    Amd Athlon 3200+
I finally decided that my Amd Athlon 64 3200+ needs a bit more Power. I wanted to overclock my Cpu in the "traditional" way using the bios settings, but you can only adjust the Bus Speed.
Then i tried using Core Center just to find out, that the Ms 7144 is the only one not supported.
Can someone help me? Is there some Software other than Core Center that i could use? Or is there a way to add some additional settings to my bios like at least "Ht Frequency ratio".
Sorry for my bad english, it is a bit rusty...
    thanx for help!

I'm afraid you can not do too much at all yourself.
Nvidia has a program called Ntune that optimises your system in many ways.
    Your English is very good!

  • Core center to OC? any use?

hi, is there any use to the core center for the MSI mobo?

You can use it to adjust things like the CPU/RAM voltage and the FSB speed (although the selections are a bit restrictive, as it tries to get you to work through DOT instead of giving you direct control over the settings).  If you like the interface and are interested in a reasonably "safe" software overclocking tool then there's nothing wrong with it, although if you're an experienced user and/or want direct control over your FSB speed and other settings, but would still rather overclock with software instead of by tweaking the BIOS, I'd recommend a third-party overclocking utility like ClockGen instead.

  • Dual Core Center displaying wrong CPU clock speed

    Hi,
I've got the 965 Platinum board and I have overclocked my E6300 Allendale to 2.331ghz (from 1.86ghz).  My problem is that the MSI Dual Core Center is showing my CPU as being clocked at 2.997mhz.  It seems to think that, because I've upped the FSB to 333mhz, I must have a CPU with a multiplier of 9 instead of the 7 of the E6300.
If Dual Core Center is not reading the CPU clock correctly how can I trust that it's reading the temperature right (which is really the only reason Ihave it loaded at all).  I know the CPU is only set at 2.331 because the BIOS gets it right, System Properties gets it right and Intel's Thermal Analysis Tool gets it right.  It's only the Dual Core Center that gets it wrong.

Make sure you are using the newest version of DCC.
Other than that, DCC might not be the best tool to monitor your system.

To monitor core tempertatures use Coretemp: http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/
A very good program to monitor all kinds of stuff ist everst 3.5.

  • Core Center & Temperature problems

    Hello!
I've noticed, that in Core Center, there are only two readings; the CPU temperature and the Northbridge temperature.
In the BIOS I see those readings too. But in Core Center, the temperature of the Nortbridge is 'N/A'.
It's strange, because in Core Center the 'Case temperature' IS the Northbridge temperature, and definitly not the Case temp.
If I start Speedfan or Aida32, I see a strange third temperature reading; it's only 6 degrees Celsius. What the ...???
Ok, Bios 1.4 corrected my CPU temperature, but where's my case reading? ...
Here, a picture of my Core Center...
    Hope you can help!

An integrated memory controller removes one of the major roles of the external North Bridge. The main function of the Northbridge is to handle the memory, CPU, and AGP data-transfer duties and to make the most efficient use of available resources as well as the data link to the Southbridge functions. Keeping all these components supplied with data is the core duty of the Northbridge, and its performance is a factor of its timings, buffers, and memory clock speeds.
Compared to the Northbridge, the chipset's Southbridge component provides support for a wide variety of devices with many differing bus speeds and designs. Control over secondary buses (USB, IDE, PS/2, Ethernet) is the Southbridge's domain.
AMD took the step and integrated a North Bridge on the CPU die . The only thing that remains of the conventional external North Bridge is an AGP controller.
So in my definition it is wrong to call the nvidia chipset for northbridge.

  • Core Center Problems & General Questions added

On boot up after installing core center on my PC, I get warning messages telling me that core center doesnt have the correct drivers installed, and that core center is not compatable with my motherboard.
I just bought a MSI K8N Neo4-F ... any suggestions?  This doesn't seem to be a common problem and I can't get any answers anywhere :(

After the proper bios adjustments and correct settings i can use corecenter to reach the maximium overclocking setting for this tool.
In bios i do have to set vcore at 1.45 and HT at 4x , disable agressive timings.
This way will lead to a fsb of 222, for my memory also without changing the timings leading to a 6600 score in sandra for memory.
My cpu will clock 2666 then.
Also i have to overvolt through corecenter for cpu and memory, both maxed out giving 2.85 for mem and 1.58 for vcore total.
Now i'm not running this since i don't need the extra heat and my games don't require it either, yet.
And i can run my cpu higher also, but that's not the issue.
It's a way to see with which settings you get more performance without messing up the bios.
Finding your way through it you can then set it in bios and forget about corecenter.
See it as a first step, because after that you can adjust memory timings to get more fsb over the 200mhz. thus finding a balanced setting that will give the most speed, because setting timings too loose will not always result in faster performance even if you can clock the mem higher.
Finally, you can also use clockgen to find your limits. This tool let me set the multiplier also to max out the cpu without compromising the memory. Also keep in mind that different cpu cores will give different results, you can't compare settings with different hardware after all.The venice core is a nice cpu for adjusting fsb settings which is for me a simple multiplier, also the memory divider on my board let me set a very high fsb if needed.Again, this is now a simple multiplier,it means nothing if i have it set at 230 or 340,i only have to bring down the cpu multiplier then to stay in spec and use the proper mem divider.
