Over current status led's on AO module always on.

When we power up our FP-AO-210 module, every over current led lights, even ones on channels that are not connected. Any help.

Thanks Bill B., I have called them, and they do not seem to have any answer execpt that it is damaged. Seems odd that a brand new one gives similar results. They sudgested we replace the base. I checked the current, and it is .1 ma, well under the 1 ma max. The unit works, it is just we have to work around the errors in software. I will send one unit back for repair. Thanks.

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 7 - USB Device Over Current

    Hi everyone,
I just made my first gaming PC, using an MSI Z97 Gaming 7. Everything went well, all the wires are connected correctly, but when I boot the PC, and try the setup (by typing the F1 button), this message appears:
USB device over current status detected
and the PC shuts down after 15 seconds.
I tried to unplug the USBs ports of the Case, tried to unplug the battery for 15 seconds, tried to boot again but the problem was still there. I also inspected all the USB ports, and I don't see anything strange.
Is it possible that the mainboard is faulty? Is there anything I can do about it?
These are the specs, if they are usefull:
    MSI Z97 Gaming 7
    Intel i5-4460 @3.20
    Gigabyte GTX 970
    PSU XFX 650W XXX Edition
    RAM 8GB HyperX Predator
    1TB WD Black
    256GB HyperX SSD
    CM Hyper T4
I hope someone can help me

    sounds like something is shorted,
    USB ports damaged?
have you tried rear USB ports and different USB ports?

have you unpluged mouse and keyboard too? assume they are USB one too
else take out mainboard out of PC case and place it over non conductive surface, like wooden table
    then retest
and do you have a different PSU to try too?

  • Sun Fire X2100  Blinking Status LED...

We have 3 new Sun Fire X2100 servers at my current job. Just recently the status LED (orange) started blinking. The logs show fine and running a prtdiag shows everything up and running fine. Is there a way to turn off the blinking LED? I have gone over every piece of information I can find and have found nothing about how to turn this off once it has started blinking.

This may be one of two issues:
    - There's a know ILOM/nge driver bug in eariler releases of S10 x86 (pre 6/06).
    - There's a know issue with an older firmware rev of the BIOS/LOM where the net management port hangs/drops out and triggers the blinking fault LED. Do you know what BIOS revision you are at?
Most times a mobo swap is NOT the fix. You may be making the problem worse because we have mobos in the supply chain with older firmware revisions.
On the X2100's I usually have my customers try:
    - Moving the RAM in different slots
    - Updating the BIOS/LOM firmware
    - Running the PC-Check diags
... before I send a field tech out to do major surgery.

  • How to read the power and status LEDs on cFP2020

Can the cFP2020 Power and Status LEDs be monitored by a host program? Also, can the Power and Ready LEDs be monitored from the other cFP Modules?

You can not directly read the Network Module Power or Status LED from a host program. Likewise, you can not directly read the Power and Ready LED of an IO module.
However, even though you can not directly ready the LED status, there are ways of finding out most of the information that the LEDs convey.
For the Network Module Power LED, you can infer the status of the Power LED by looking at the channel status for any/all items that are on the bank. If the items have errors indicating that a communication timeout has occured or an addressed item does not exist, then it is probable that the unit is offline (either because of no power or a fault). The Status LED indicates the current operating status of the Network module and in most cases, if it is flashing
, then a fault has occured that shutdown the processor. In most cases, you will not be able to determine that the Status LED is flashing, as the Status LED indicates a fault condition which will put the unit into a non-standard operating mode (e.g. firmware corruption, unassigned IP Address, or an OS fault).
For the IO modules, each channel on a module can report status, and based upon the status you can infer the state of the LEDs. If the module does not have the Power LED lit, the most likely status will be "Addressed item does not exist". If the module has the Power LED but no Ready LED, then the status will indicate that the "item is unconfigured". If the module has both a Power and Ready LED, than the channel should report either a good status, or a channel specific error (if applicable).

  • "USB Over Current" warnings worse in Leopard than Tiger

    Here's a tricky one:
Just bought a 2006 MacBook Pro
    2.16GHz, 2GB Ram, 120 GB HD
It came with an openly disclosed problem: a consistent "USB Over Current" error message popping onto screen. (yes, I've read relevant threads and tried resetting PRAM, etc, as did the guy from whom I purchased it). The guy from whom I purchased it was told by a friend in IT that it needs a new USB hub (and that might be correct).
According to the guy and from what I've so far experienced, the USB drives function -- the only problem is the error message.
I used the system disks to perform a hardware test, and also to re-install Tiger (a downgrade from Leopard).
FIRST CLUE -- the Hardware Test
When I perform the "Apple Hardware Test" (version 3A107) the short version shows "no errors" but the extended version gets stuck on "testing memory" (according to the progress bar)
The screen bounces (shimmies) but I believe the error code is:
    0x80000009
    And:
    "ERROR: 0x80000009 requested size: 0xaf
    and then another with 0xa4
    and another with 0xa4 again
HOWEVER, when the test concludes (in a length of time much greater than its 10-minute estimate), the official word is that there is no hardware problem. (The two RAM modules are the ones specified, and resetting them and removing one did not alleviate the problem).
SECOND CLUE -- Almost no Problem in Tiger
The interesting thing is that with Tiger installed, I got the USB Over Current warning only upon the initial boot. I thought I had just about cured the problem.
    THIRD CLUE -- Re-installing Leopard
I took my commercial copy of Leopard and reinstalled. It was interesting that according to what I was seeing onscreen, the installation stalled with 7 minutes to go. But when I rebooted from the start-up disk -- there was Leopard. (Could it have been only partially installed?)
Unfortunately, I didn't see how the computer was running before updating to 10.5.8.
    FOURTH CLUE -- Software Updates
The "USB Over Current Warning" now come in cascades of five. And the barrages are frequent. Again, however, they don't seem to do anything except block screen view.
I'm wondering if something in the updates has exacerbated the problem? Here are the updates:
    "Pages Update" (2.0.1v2)
    "Keynote Update" (3.0.1v2)
    "QuickTime" (7.6.9)
    "GarageBand Update" (3.0.2)
    "iDVD Update" (6.0.4)
    "iWeb Update" (1.1.1)
    "iTunes" (10.2)
    "iMovie HD Combo Update" (6.0.2)
    "iPhoto Update" (6.0.4)
"Mac OS X Update Combined" (10.5.8)
Okay, that's the relevant info. I would gladly replace the USB hub, if there's a video that shows how and I know what part to purchase.
    Otherwise, what would you do?
Thanks to all who've taken time to analyze this situation.
    Kind regards,
    Terry D

    "USB Over Current Warning"
One thing you have not mentioned is if you have any peripherals connected to the USB when the error message pops up?
I would gladly replace the USB hub, *if there's a video* that shows how and I know what part to purchase.

  • Current Status report not updating

Over the past few months I have been getting more and more problems where the "Current Status" indication is wrong.  Usually I can get the "Current Status" back to being accure by going to File/Refresh.  In the past when something changed the status, like a restart taking the system off line for a few seconds, the current status would update back to Available once the remote computer completed its reboot.  Now however there is about an equal chanve that the status indicated in ARD will or will not update automatically when the status changes.  If the status remains at ARD Not Available or Sleeping or something else ARD will not control that system till I manually do a refresh and then initiate the new action.
This is more of an irritant than a major problem but it sure would be nice if I could get ARD back to correcting and updating the indicated status correctly.  This is with the 3.5.1 ARD Admin software.  Any Ideas?

A few things I would suggest you do to determine where the problem lies.
    1) Create an Essbase pull sheet in Excel that mimics the form and verify you see the data in Essbase -- you should see it just after your form is saved.
    2) Compare the dimensions on your report with those on the Form. I would guess your report has an upper level member that is not dynamically calculated -- if this is true then if you really want the report to show the exact data as the form then update the report appropriately.
    Good Luck,
    -John

  • FP-1600 Status LED blinks 17 times.

My FieldPoint bank has 9 modules. I previously had a problem with the FP-TB-10 power and ready lights blinking, but that was because one of my dual-channel modules was not seated correctly. Now the status LED is blinking 17 times. The manual says to contact NI about this. The FieldPoint Explorer seems to find all of the modules correctly, though. Anyone know what's up?

    Aaron,
I checked the firmware and the FieldPoint Explorer version, and I'm using 3.20 and 3.0, respectively. When I power cycle the FP-1600, the 17 blinks of the status LED go away. Communication works, and all of the devices are found. However, communication does drop out from time to time, and eventually the status LED begins blinking 17 times again.
A possibly related issue is that the FP-AI-V10 dual-channel module that I have plugged into slot 2 of the FP-TB-10 base causes the FP-TB-10 to flash its power and ready LEDs. Re-seating the FP-AI-V10 seems to fix this, although the module is definitely already clicked into place when I see this problem. Upon reseating (or just pressing on it without removing the module), the FieldPoint Explo
    rer program finds this module.
I'm tempted to think that this issue with the FP-TB-10 and FP-AI-V10 are unrelated to the FP-1600's status LED blinking 17 times because even with the FP-TB-10 removed from the bank, I still get the flashing LED.
Any ideas? Also, what is a GPF type error?
    Thanks,
    Jake

    Hello,
The status LED can actually lend useful information regarding the potential culprits to your issue. You can check out the STATUS LED Error Indications in the 1601 User Manual.
In this case, it looks like you should contact National Instruments directly since it seems as though the module did not power on correctly. You may have to return your unit for replacement or repair.

  • SUN Fire V65 - System Status LED - non-critical condition

    Hi guys
We have a Checkpoint Cluster which is made up of 2 Sun Fire V65 servers.
The front panel of the servers are showing the System Status LED lights as Blinking Amber , which sun documenation has listed as
"Blinking amber: Indicates the system is in a non-critical condition" ref: http://dlc.sun.com/pdf/817-2024-12/817-2024-12.pdf
We have resetead the hardware, cleared ,logs, even change HW etc. The light goes away for some time and then returns.
Can anyone advise on what to do?
Sun has the following listed in their Troubleshooting pdf i ref before
    "Non-Critical Condition
A non-critical condition is indicated with a blinking amber status LED and signifies
that at least one of the following conditions is present:
¡ Temperature, voltage, or fan non-critical threshold crossing.
    ¡ Chassis intrusion.
¡ Satellite controller sends a non-critical state, via the Set Fault Indication
    command, to the BMC.
¡ A Set Fault Indication command from the system BIOS. The BIOS may use the Set
Fault Indication command to indicate additional, non-critical status such as
system memory or CPU configuration changes"
Is there any Unix / Linux / SPLAT logs I can look at or debugging we can look at.
    Thanks in advance

Your initial description mentions that you have swapped various pieces of hardware around. I presume that means you used current parts instead of new-never-used components. Are both of the clustered systems showing the same symptoms?
I can only think of a couple of additional things to try.
Firstly, those are old boxes. V65's went EOL in January 2005, so yours are at least that old if not older. They are x86 architecture. Have you replaced the CR2032 CMOS battery that's on the systemboard? Have you additionally checked for voltage fluctuations in the data center? A marginal power supply can "mostly work" but it can be effected by an AC mains issue.
If that doesn't change anything, then you may need to contact Checkpoint. They may be able to point you toward some sort of heartbeat function that is tripping a fault level when it flip-flops between the two systems.
That's a software investigation and would be outside the scope of this forum.

  • FP 1601 status led shows red continuously

I am trying to use FP 1601 which was already configured long before. But now the status LED is continuously red .Power LEd is green and all other LEds are off. Am giving 24V power and checked that it is given to V and C properly .Ethernet connection is also proper. i tried to reset , but could not. i cant use it in anymore. can anyone help in troubleshooting

    Hello,
The status LED can actually lend useful information regarding the potential culprits to your issue. You can check out the STATUS LED Error Indications in the 1601 User Manual.
In this case, it looks like you should contact National Instruments directly since it seems as though the module did not power on correctly. You may have to return your unit for replacement or repair.

  • CFP status led - stays lit solid red!

    Hi,
I have a problem with a cFP-2120 RT controller where the red LED status light stays lit.  On the instruction manual it says that the unit was not powered up correctly and to contact NI.  The controller used to work fine until we had a short on the mains side of the power supply The AI, AO and thermocouple modules did not power up but the DI and DO modules seemed to be getting power.  Is there anything we can do or just send it back for repairs.  When I replaced the controller with another one, the system worked fine and the status LED turned off after a few seconds.

Sounds like you've proven that the controller is bad.  Next step is an RMA from NI.  Make sure NI tells you what failed in the controller and see if they will comment on what might have caused it.   The idea being to see if you can do anything to prevent this failure in the future.
