"Over-Installation" of Firefox 6.0 over old Firefox 3.6.20 ?!
Hello!
Can i "over-install" Firefox over my old Firefox 3.6.20 without any problems? It is very important for me that bookmarks, chronic/history, cache etc. are kept from my old installation (3.6.20). Would this be possible if I install Firefox 6 in the folder where I have 3.6.20 installed?

Then you haven't uninstalled "Glims." Do so according to the developer's instructions.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

The problem is with the page that opens at startup?
What does the new page look like? Can you paste the address into a reply?
Or if it doesn't have an address, maybe it's a page created by an add-on. Can you see any indication of the source of the page? Perhaps you could post a screen shot of what it looks like. To reduce content size, try the zoom feature: hold down the Ctrl key and tap the - key once or twice. If you want to reset the page to the standard size, you can hold down Ctrl and tap the 0 key once (zero).
But really we should get you back to the page you prefer, and hopefully with the additional details I requested we will be able to figure out what needs to get changed so you can do that. -

Restore "old Firefox data". I am in over my head. Please help.
I do not understand how to use the old/new profile copy/past process. I Do know I need the plugs ins from my old fire fox browser. I currently have firefox version 29. Did not do backup but the 'old Firefox data' file is on my desktop.
Note that if you restore your old add-ons, you will very likely run into the same problem that made you reset Firefox in the first place. The following directions assume you haven't installed any new add-ons in the current profile. If that's not the case, don't follow them; manually re-install your old add-ons from the Firefox Add-ons site instead.

When I try to log on as I have usually done I get a small window

I'm a Pro Tools user, who just did an "Archive and Install" installation of 10.5.8 over my 10.4.11 on my 2 Ghz G5, now Pro Tools won't launch. I checked the extensions folder and sure enough, the digidesign extensions were left behind. Can I revert back to the "Archive" of my 10.4.11 System from the "Previous Systems" folder? If not, what's the point of creating the "archive"?
Did you select "Preserve User Settings"?
Archive and Install installation automatically moves existing system files to a folder named Previous System, then installs Mac OS X again. (See tip 3.) You cannot start up your computer using a Previous System folder, nor can you "re-bless" the Previous System folder. (See tip 1.)
You can choose to preserve your user and network settings before installing. This option automatically moves existing users, Home directories, and network settings. This also skips the Setup Assistant after installation.
Note: Because the "Preserve user and network settings" option moves, not copies, existing users, Home directories, and network settings, from the Previous Systems folder to the newly installed System, these items will not exist in the Previous Systems folder after the Archive and Install is complete.

I have pictures of my daughter as my desktop and do not appreciate this.On any windows machine use "Alt+SpaceBar" to help you move or resize the window.
Windows 7 (only) users can use WinKey+leftarrow (cursor keys) to reposition window to the left half of the screen and then you can resize or move from there with the normal methods. Works nicely if you for instance lost your window on another monitor or want to switch the window to a different monitor in use. (something to look forward to in the future as you are on Vista)

It is still possible to resize and move windows with JavaScript for those who lost the ability with Firefox 8.0 and above, but it involves a couple of extra steps covered in the above article. -

The "Tools" menu has an "Options" selection, but I cannot find in any of those menus a selection controlling the location of the tabs. Where is the "Firefox Button" referred to in the article "Why are tabs on Top?"If you turn on the classic menu bar, that replaces the orange Firefox button. To get the Firefox button back, right-click the menu bar to display the toolbars list, and uncheck Menu Bar.
You can always temporarily display the classic menu bar by tapping the Alt key or pressing F10.
The toolbar list pop-up also lets you control Tabs on Top. -

You referenced that you had a iMac G5 model?
G5's are PowerPC CPUs and not Intel CPUs.
The Microsoft Silverlight software works with Intel chip Macs only.
And, if I am not mistaken, the software requires OS X 10.5.8 Leopard or greater to install.
So, you need both an Intel Mac with, at least, OS X 10.5.8 as minimum requirements.
Netflix will still not work on your Mac.

As mentioned in the question, I have a custom add-on I want on my other computer. According to your website, I should be able to transfer it effortlessly with Firefox Sync. What am I doing wrong or is there another way I can transfer my add-on to my personal laptop?
Do you have the original XPI of this extension?
If that is the case then you can copy the file to the other computer (e.g. via an USB stick) and install the extension via "File (or Firefox > New Tab) > Open File".

Install FEBE from Add Ons in FF on old computer. Back up entire profile. Also install FEBE in FF on new computer. Copy FEBE backup folder to new computer. "Restore" from FEBE. All of your settings, including cookies, passwords, etc. will be "restored." Note that on the new computer, you'll need to create two profiles: the default one you'll use on a regular basis and one to use for the restore.
