Over Range Signal On Any Monitor

I have a powermac G3 and I'm not sure what's wrong. It partly boots up but then it shows a folder with a ? And it keeps on flashing switching images with another folder with the finder face on it. What's wrong? And how do I fix it?

What's wrong is that your Mac cannot find:
The specified OS Type {Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, Linux, BeOS, etc.}
of the specified Version {9.1, 9.2, 10.2, etc}
On the specified Startup Drive.
All these items are stored in Parameter RAM (PRAM).
If you were NOT trying to install a new OS, Linux, I would suggest you pay close attention to Resetting the PRAM and replacing the PRAM backup battery, as described near the end of this article:

Your Mac does not have the Startup Manager referenced in the links at the end of the article.

Cannot re-route TV signal to other monitor from TV Anywhere program

The TV function is working fine through the default monitor, but I don't like having only two screen size options, full screen and the one smaller version. Therefore I want to re-route the TV signal to another monitor, so I can use the full screen default monitor for working while watching TV on another monitor. you are making it to complicated
just use windows extended desktop... (your video card must support multiple monitors)
what you should understand is that your video card (not your TV card) is "deciding" where signal ends up!

Abnormal colors + Frequency over range

i replaced the fan on my FX-5600 TD256 Vid card today and when i put the sucker back in the poo hit the fan, white text when computer boots up now has lines of orange and white text, and when windows loads up my monitor shuts off and gives "frequency over range" message, i tried researching and forums suggest to boot in to safe mode and change the refresh rate of the monitor, however i still cant see my desktop. any one have any ideas or can help?
specs bellow-

managed to uninstall drivers and then re started fresh, video card made it to the desktop finally with out shutting off my monitor, how ever, colors are fudged still, also, any video changes (opening windows etc) are slow as molasses, unless any has an ideas think its time to declare this puppy dead =(
at least when i get some cash i can get a way better card, damn 5600 was nothing but a hassle
also, for about 300 bucks or less, whats the best card i can get out there?

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1067 Mhz RAM
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB
The IMac computer screen goes black randomly but the machine still running beyond.
In order to go back to normal i need to awake the computer by hitting with the pointer a hot corner previously created " sleep mode" ( top left ).
..the black screen would come back after one second again..and then again and then again and then again..with different intervals..sometime 2 seconds after the other, sometime as soon as appears the user login screen.
I took the machine to an Apple Store two times over one year, they opened, cleaned it but they didn't replace anything has they could not understand what they real problem was. I was happy for that because they didn't try to make me spend money on something which was not going to solve my issue for sure.
Last time i kindly asked them to inspect everything meticulously, part by part, i left the machine with them for over 2 months. They couldn't understand why this was happening..after couple of weeks, 5 more machines came in with the same problem.
On some of them., upon request of the client they changed the graphic card but apparently this was not the fix, the problem come back again. Apparently changing the graphic card or the screen or else it didn't solve any problem to anyone. I'm almost thinking to "trough it out of the window"..we all spend money for this machines and i think we need to know if Apple is looking in to this or not.
Lately i tried to do an SMS RESET and PRAM RESET, it feels it got better a little but problem still coming back.
Also, all usb devices are disconnected and the problem still there

I'm now thinking to try to take the machine to its original firmware and see if it still does it, does anyone have any sugestion?
I use a lot photoshop and other image software, this computer is essential for my work. For more then one year this issue caused me problems.
Luckly i have a Macbook Pro too and i managed to do some of my work there. At last I was thinking to buy an external screen and attach it to the Macbook pro in order to work on my big images. But who wants to spend money again!!!???? This is not a fixture, this is silly. I wish to have my IMAc working again.
The warranty it's obviously over and this problem happened right after the warranty was over...
I write this post because i'm so tired of this issue and online nothing can be found apart from posts from so many people that have the same problem and no fixture has been found.
The only fixture seams to be to buy a new computer... Ole'!!!..new money flowing in in the cashier!! forget it!!! i would rather change company if apple doesn't respond to this.
For over 10 years i have been a Apple owner..

Hi, I've seem to have found out the source of the problem.
The issue is related to heat, and an iMac 27" gets hot pretty fast.
If I boot the iMac straight after first start into Windows 7 I seem to get a lit built-in display at all times. I can also boot OS X first and then into Windows 7 and the built-in screen get lit every time as long as the iMac isn't hot.
Strange thing is that the monitor connected to the display port gets lit every time. So I can only assume that the heat only interfere with output to the built-in LED screen.
So this iMac is going to an Apple premium reseller for service, and I'll tell you guys how it went.

No signal on VGA Monitor

I just bought one of the new minis last night. This is my first time in the Mac world so I'm expecting to get thrown some but I'm having a monitor problem right off the bat.
I am using the mini-display to VGA adapter and get no signal on the monitor. The monitor works fine with my PC. I also tried a second monitor but get the same no signal. If I use my HDTV via HDMI I get a display fine on the TV. I went to display and tried using detect displays but nothing changes. If I change resolutions it changes on the HDTV but I never get a signal on the monitor.
Any tips to try? Are the VGA adapters known to be problematic? Maybe defective?

i did what you said and tried with other resolution/refresh rate combinations, also with anoter external monitor (and vga cable) but its still the same: monitor is detected but there's no signal.
Now I will try to chek if the adapter works on other pc and monitor.

Dell Venue 11 Pro Tablet Docking Station - Dock Firmware won't update or output to any monitor

Hi,
Just bought a Dell Venue 11 Pro Tablet Docking Station and it won't output to any monitor via HDMI or Displayport.
I've tried updating the firmware to V02 and V03. I get the message:
Current On-Board Firmware is 0.41.9
Do you want to update with firmware version 0.41.23 (V03) 0.41.19 (V02)
When I select yes I get the following error:
Error: Please unplug the power connector from the Dell desktop dock for 15 seconds, then plug the power connector back into the Dell desktop dock and try again.
This I keep repeating but it will not update.
The model number of the dock is: K10A001.
The only other thing I notice is that the power adapter does not appear the same as any of the pictures I have seen and is a Dell 74VT4 (65w) which seems be for a Dell XPS 18 (1810).
Please help as I think this may need to be sent back.

I've exactly the same problem. I've also the model number K10A001 and the current Firmware 0.41.9, and it is also not possible for me to flash the docking station.
This is also problematic because only one monitor of the two connected monitors works. An this monitor shows only a picture, if it is plugged, after the dockingstation and the Venue 11 Pro has been started.
I think there is maybe an improved flash utility required in order to allow to flash the docking station? If some one had succeeded please respond.

Just unpacked Mac mini and powered up using Mac mini to VGA display adaptor and VGA monitor. There is no signal to the monitor ( power is on).
How to see the display?

Using a default monitor configuration.
First step would be to create the necessary entries (easier to make a complete xorg.conf versus xorg.conf.d/##-whatever.conf).
All Desktop Environments / Window Managers rely on X. Man pages are helpful, possibly some headaches ahead as I fought a dual-monitor display this way.

Run the Apple hardware test to see what it tells you. Run the extended test when prompted, which can take awhile.

I found that the Thunderbolt input accepts the mini-DVI (in my case converter to VGA for a tutorial use monitor)
BUT, you have to really oush it in 'til it clicks. I thought it too loose until I tried it. works just fine!!

My recorded guitar is not sounding like the signal I am monitoring. It sounds very good when recording, but lacks energy and detail when it is played back. If I am using input/direct monitoring am I also bypassing the Analog to Digital converters? Could this explain the difference in sound quality?
Would it be the same to monitor a signal directly out of the sound card and to monitor "through" Logic?
My sound card is a Presouns Firepod.

No.
My sound card is a Presouns Firepod.
Consult the manual of that device, to see if you can learn from where in the signal chain it gets your direct monitoring from --- PRE conversion or POST conversion... My bet is that it is pre conversion.

You're welcome. Given the number of people who seem to have problems restoring photos from their backup I wouldn't trust the iCloud backup for my photos anyway. I always import them to my computer at least weekly. That way I know I have them.
You might want to check out the app PhotoSync. It makes this pretty easy as it transfers them to your computer wirelessly and keeps track of which ones have already been transferred.
