Hi All,
I want to know something about Windows NT Authentication.
What is the URL when the user is directly logged in to the Portal. Can I parameterize the URL. Is it possible to override the Windows NT Authentication by giving the user parameter in URL. If yes, then what should be the user parameter.

Can I over-ride the default setting in Organizer to allow sorting photos by filename ?

I am converting slides from the 1970's and 80's to digital files and using PSE 8 to Organize them but it is important to me that they stay in the order of the file name I give them and NOT "Date: newest first or last" because it would seem that PSE, in the absence of metafile information, uses the date and time I uploaded the file to the Organizer as the "Date:". ACDSee has a much more sensible arrangement in giving me full control of how my photos are sorted. I am being driven to using ACDSee as the organizer and PSE as the photo editor, a not very convenient arrangement. So my question is, "Can I over-ride the default setting in Organizer to allow sorting photos by filename ?"

The type of file system that you're trying to set up, is actually done better by creating you own file heirarchy in Windows, and then viewing by import batch. For example; you might create a top level folder "My Slide Scans", then perhaps, "My son John". So, the scans of john all go in the same folder, you import the folder in one batch, and you're where you want to be.
That said, PSE will fight you at every turn to do this, since with the scanner hooked up with PSE, PSE is going to want to store your photos in "scanned photos" and import them as you scan them.
I woud suggest this. After the scan and import, use PSE to move the photos to their final destination folder, say " Hawaii 1994", and create a tag of the same name". Then when you're done scanning photos of this event, use the tag to view all the scans at once. Then, delete all the photos from the organizer. (Yeah, sounds radical I know). Take heart! All you've gotta do then is to reimport the whole folder. All the same name photos will be in one import batch. And with all the photos of any given topic in one folder, you'll be able to also use Windows Explorer in any number of modes to view the photos outside PSE.
Keep in mind you can rename batchs of photos by selecting them, or by import batch or even tag, then "Ctrl. > Shift > N" will bring up the name change dialog box.
This technique is quite contensious, but, it makes a whole lot more sense than storing all your photos in the "My Photos" folder on the "C:/" drive where any viral or malware hiccup might cause the necessity of a reformat, which could cause the loss of years of work.
If a name search is a priority, that would be "Ctrl ."Shift" > "K" then type in whatever your heart desires.
Caution: Before attempting a delete/ reimport manuver, Alway, always, write the tag and file info to the photo. "File" >"Write Tag and Properties Info to File".
I always am quite adamantine about suggesting that you do NOT use the same physical HDD that contains Windows to store your photos, that's just asking for trouble. HDDs are quite cheap nowadays, and they're worth every penny in piece of mind. Plus to use a storage ("Volume") drive, you have to create your own file heirarchy anyway, so that leads right back to the beginning of this discussion.

Which operating system are you running on?
If it is a Windows system you need to have an email client running like Outlook (32bit version) or Windows Live Mail. Either of those should be able to link to your current e-mail service. The alternative is to use the Adobe e-mail client but there are problems when trying to link it to your email service.

Forms 6i - Over-ride NLS settings

Forms 6i on Windows-2000, Oracle Server 9i
I have an existing Forms/Reports application that uses one currency, and I want to be able to re-use it on the same client PC but using a different currency against a different database.
Ideally I would like to over-ride the NLS settings in the client registry e.g. by doing an Alter Session set NLS_CURRENCY.
However, I've tried that and it doesn't work (it does not fail, but it seems to have no effect).
Is there a way to over-ride the NLS_CURRENCY?
If not, is there a way to create a new minimal Oracle_Home in the registry containing another NLS_CURRENCY value and make the entry Form get the appropriate Oracle_Home? The app does not need to run concurrently with both currencies.

As a follow up to my above reply, I have tested with the following and it works well.
Server Side Settings
O/S : RHEL 3
NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
Client Side Settings
O/S : Windows XP Professional (with East Asian languages)
NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
I am able to get a mixture of Traditional & Simplified Chinese to work. Just sharing this information with those who might be struggling with the same issues.

Over ride the drop-down value?

I am developing an VISITOR Adobe Interactive Form, i have Designer 8.1 and Reader 9.0 in my Windows 7 Laptop. When i checked the menu EDIT-->form properties --> Compatability, its Adobe XML form File (XDP)
When i opened this VISITOR interactive form in a browser, right clicking and checked form PROPERTIES, then i saw the "PDF Version: 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)"
I have a bunch of drop-downs in my interactive form, done by dragging & dropiing the 'Drop-down list' object, at the end i binded it with some data source, working fine, say its COUNTRY list.
As soon as use opened the form, he saw the 'USA' prepopulated in the drop-down field, fine.
User dropped down the entries, he saw a couple, like USA, Canada, UK, Spain, fine.
But, now user want to enter / override this USA entry with his own value, like FRANCE, but, my form is not allowing, its behaving like a 'readOnly' field!
Pls. let me know how to over ride a entry of drop-down values, as per user wanting value?

selecting the "Allow Custom Text Entry" box of the field tab of the object palette
of that drop-down list.

I need a contact at Adobe to help over ride their computer system so that I can install Phot 7

I am trying to install Photoshop 7 on my new computer with Windows 8. The Adobe system will not take the serial number. It says to contact Adobe, but I cannot find a way to do that. No telephone number to get to someone to help over ride the system to get this older verion that I prefer, installed.

Exchange 2013 CU1 Outlook Web App LogOff with Basic or Windows Integrated Authentication

Exchange 2013 CU1 has a new OWA LogOff behaviour when Basic or Windows Integrated Authentication is configured. When clicking the LogOff Button you receive the message "Close All your Browser Windows.." but OWA does not sign out. This is not the
case when using Formbased Authentication...
The problem in our case is the OWA publishing over the Internet via TMG. When publishing via TMG, only Basic and NTLM authentication is supported. This means you have to change the Authentication for the OWA Virtual Directory to basic or Windows Integrated.
OK so far, now we can use the TMG Authentication Form. but... TMG is not able to Catch the OWA LogOff. So we will still receive "Close all your Browser Settings.." and no log out from OWA.
It is a known issue that TMG cannot catch the OWA Logoff with the Exchange 2013 CU1 Release..So my Question:
Does anyone get that "Real LogOut" fixed via TMG or directly on the CAS Server for Exchange 2013 CU1?
I know another possibility is to activate Form Based Authentication on the CAS Servers and external users directly authenticate against the CAS Server without pre-authentication at TMG Level, but this of course does not provide the highest security

As far as I know, if there is no TMG involved, with Exchange 2013 when the user signs out of mail, the authentication tokens are cleared and the user will be presented with the
Login Screen. There will not be a need to click on "Close Window" or any other pop ups that may appear.
Therefore, you may ask the TMG forum about this question and see whether there are still some other workaround we can temporary bypass this issue. For your convenience:

Over ride default user log in?

in the nutshell, I'm currently running 10.8.3 and am wondering if theres a key to press that will "over ride" the default log in user.
My set up is that the mac automatically signs on to the family profile, then i sign out and sign into mine. I chose this set up for my rather technically challenged parents. I would like to be able to press a key or simple combination so that it shows the sign on screen and the user can choose who to sign on. I do feel comfortable using terminal if that does make a difference.

Windows Native Authentication with 2 (multiple) AD domains

I have managed to get Windows Native Authentication for Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) on Windows working. The following has been done and works in a test environment:
Phase 1) Active Directory (AD) to Oracle Internet Directory (OID) Synchronization
Phase 2) Configure a Kerberos Service Account for the Single Sign-on
Currently all the above setup points to a single windows active directory server, i.e. active1.uk.oacle.com. This is acceptable for a test environment, but before the changes can be deployed to production I need to incorporate some disaster recovery.
The active directory is replicated across multiple servers – i.e. active1.uk.oacle.com, active2.uk.oacle.com. In the event that the primary active directory server is unavailable Oracle users should still be able to access applications. I need to incorporate active2.uk.oacle.com into the above setup.
Questions:
1)Can I get away with not incorporating active2.uk.oacle.com into phase 1. If the users have been pulled into OID then we are not particular concerned with pulling in new users in a disaster situation.
2)Can I configure the Oracle side of the Kerberos setup to use multiple realms with an order or precedence – i.e. try active1.uk.oacle.com, then try active2.uk.oacle.com. I would generate a keytab file from each server.
Ideally I would like to just modify the Kerberos setup to check active1.uk.oacle.com then active2.uk.oacle.com. Is this a workable approach? If yes how do I proceed? I believe the krb5.ini and opmn.xml need to be amended.

Is it possible for widgets in dashboard to float over other windows?

I'm trying to assess features in Mavericks in comparison to Snow Leopard (the OS I'm most familiar with). I usually read the Missing Manual for the new OSes, but haven't gotten to all areas yet - it's a big book!
Is it possible for widgets in dashboard to float over other windows?
I want to be able to see the calculator widget for example while I'm also working in a Bills template document in Word, or over my back account page while viewing in Safari. Or look at words in Thesaurus while viewing a document I'm writing in Word, or even an email in Mail. In OS 10.6 widgets on the dashboard float above the other windows, but I can see them both at the same time. It looks like Dashboard is all by itself in Mavericks. Is this the case and the only way to view widgets now, is by themselves in their own isolated environment? Any work around?

You can assign a "hot corner" with System preferences > Mission Control > Hot corners to bring up your dashboard anytime you want quickly by moving the mouse to the corner. Works really well.

Windows domain authentication on Oracle Secure Global Desktop

I made an upgrade of my oracle secure global desktop 4.62 version to 5.1 version.
The problem is, I was using Windows Domain Authentication in 4.62 and this kind of authentication is not available in the 5.1 version.
So now, my users cannot log in the application.

What are you authenticating to specifically? An AD server? Are you using any of the supported authentication mechanisms now supported?

Windows Integrated Authentication on an ABAP data source

I have to implement Windows Integrated Authentication in my portal. By using Kerberos & SPNEGO, we can implement very easily if portal user id & windows (ADS) user id is same. But my scenario is windows id & portal id is different & data source is already configured as ABAP. Can you suggest me how we can achieve this requirement.

isnt the property krb5principalname used to define the mapping of the user ID when you cannot use the AD standard samaccountname?
I think that the mapped user ID (as provided by krb5principalname) must be identically with the ABAP userID. When the ABAP user ID isn't present in the LDAP information, SSO won't be possible. Somehow he needs to publish the ABAP user ID into the AD.
