Over some images my imac cursor has changed to a hand with a blue magnifying grid - how to I get back to normal?

Sometimes when moving over an image, mt cursor changes to a hand with a blue magnifying grid. How can I disable this?

Thanks sberman ... unfortunately that option is & has been unticked. It has happened to me two or three times but my memory ain't what it used to be so I can't recall the exact circumstances. It went away by itself this morning after an overnight shutdown so I don't think it can be a "preferences" item. Only thing I had to do this morning was to change trackpad batteries. Maybe low batt power was the cause? Interestingly before I posted the query here, I was searching all over the net for a similar problem and could not find even one related post or comment anywhere. And this post has 53 views with only your reply so maybe it is a spurious / unique problem? I'll leave the post for now as the problem seemed to have fixed itself and if it happens again, I will re-try everything first, including checking batteries. Somehow I thought mnaybe I had hit a keyboard shortcut in error but I can't find any reference at all to this kind of behaviour. Wierd!! But thanks very much for your reply!!

The cursor in the main part of Firefox has changed to a dot with a circle around it. This only occurs in Firefox and only in the page display area. I still have the arrow in the tool bar and tabs area. When moving the cursor around in the display area the dot/circle is accompanied by a blinking arrow.

It's the quicktime plug-in causing the problem. If you disable it, your cursor will return to normal. Happened to me, and fixed it by doing that.

The only way someone could have changed it is if they knew your passcode to begin with, or guessed it.
Without a computer, or access to iCloud, there's nothing you can do to remove the passcode. You need a computer to force the phone into recovery mode & restore it, or access to iCloud.com to erase it.

Form data shows up in a foreign language and im not quite sure how to change it back.

This issue can be caused by an old bitmap version of the Helvetica or Geneva font or (bitmap) fonts that Firefox can't display in that size.
Firefox can't display some old bitmap fonts in a larger size and displays gibberish instead.
You can test that by zooming out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.
Uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font or see if you can find a True type version that doesn't show the problem.

No. You will have to Place the iPod in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

What exactly are you referring to? Are the menus or templates for Pages in a different language? Does something strange appear on the screen when you type?
Could you perhaps use the Camera icon here to post a screenshot of what you are seeing?
To make sure you have the right keyboard, go to system preferences/language & text/input sources and make sure that only the box for US or British is checked (and that the box for French or German or anything else is not checked).

Satellite A500-17X - Cursor has changed to a black box

I have an A500-17X and the cursor has changed from the normal "I" to a black box which flashes in the same way that the normal "I" cursor does. I'd really appreciate any help with this as it is now driving me mad!

I erroneously deleted some background icons, that now have left me with only thumbnail images, what appears when I want to enlarge is a grey circle containing a black exclamation symbol, how can I get back full function and undo my mistake

I have erroneoulsy deleted icons repetious images from the computer which then affected my iphoto images, leaving me in some cases only with the thembnail image. When I try to enlarge or perform any other function all that appears is a black field containing a grey circle with a black exclamation symbol( !)

How did you try to "restore" and what did you try to restore?
Probably the only solution is to restore your backup of the iPhoto library from before you did this
