Overclock Barton 2500 with PC2700 memory

Using MSI K7N2 Delta L MB.
Want to overclock Barton 2500 [without and CPU mod].  But, memory is not overclockable.
Is there a way to overclock the CPU while keeping the memory running at 166/333?
When I've tried to raise the FSB of the CPU, I can't get the memory clock to stay at 166/333.
Thanks

dont run a fsb higher then the memory as its most likely to be slower.
you can try to increase the speed 3-4mhz at a time until it starts to crash and then you back off 5mhz.
or buy faster memory.
you can always raise multiplier.
im not sure but i think the highest you can go is 12.5 and if you chose higher it goes back to lower numbers.

     ;( Please help me any1.
I have MBO KT4 Ultra-SR (MS-6590) with CPU AMD Barton 2500+ and i have a big problem. System corectly boot only if a select CPU FSB Clock = 100 MHz (CPU Ration/CPU Vcore/DDR Voltage=all AUTO). When a select CPU FSB Clock 133 or 166 MHz, system begin run corectly and after few second turned OFF. I selecting SDRAM Frequency on=AUTO/266/333/400 MHz but not working. My old CPU is AMD XP Palomino 2100 MHz and work fine with KT4 Ultra MBO. I upgrade BIOS with 1.4 version. I change memory module with PQI (PC 2700/256 MB) and JETRAM (PC 2700/256 MB) but is same ":censored: ". System dont work. Bad CPU Barton 2500+? I dont no. Please help me any1.

Most of the time, this sort of problems arise because of power suppliy issues.. U have a enamax 300W PSU which is a VERY GOOD PSU but might just be on the line...
If u can, try swapping the PSu for a good 400 or a 420W PSU.. this might solve your enigma.. I really dont think this is your processor...

  • Msi Kt333 woes with barton 2500

    Hi,
I just got this new processor, the barton 2500 and my computer is very instable.
I have a Kt333 ultra 2 with bios 5.7 and it worked fine with an athlon xp1800+
I set up fsb 166 and everything else in auto and It will crash at random in winxp.
The culprit seems to be accessing the hard disk which is a Maxtor ATA133 7200rpm 60gb.
In one of the BSOD the file that caused the crash was ntfs.sys
I am now running the board at fsb 133 just so I can use the computer.
I have currently installed 1G ram, two sticks of 256m pc2700 and a newly acquired stick of 512 pc3300.
    I have a Gf3 ti 200 128m at default settings.
What can I do to fix this without having to go out buy more hardware?
    Thanks.

I don't think the KT333 suports ddr400(3200), the Bios 5.7 you have was to fix the 3200+ barton NOT the 3200 ram, So you can only run the DDR333 (2700) ram
and should never mix your ram it will cause nothen but trouble

  • Barton 2500+ K7N2G-L How to overclock?

    Hi
Im completely new to overclocking and I dont understand the jargon here and at overclockers.com.
Could anyone explain in simple words how I could speed up the system?
Ive heard there are some windows programs which do it, could this be that simple?

It would be best not to overclock untill you understand every thing about it and the terms.
1st if your running stock cooling i would not even try
2nd If you have the newer barton 2500+ then the CPU is locked and the wire trick does not even work, But older models are unlocked with the motherboard you bought.  esay way to tell if you change the settings im going to mention its unlocked.
Over clock in the bios chage the FSB up in small increasements it should be default at 166 (333 CPU bus speed) and you can also change the multiplier it kind of works like this.
    166FSB X 11multiplier = 1830MHz roughly (your CPU)
If you change something like this:
    180FSB X 12multiplier = 2160MHz
but if you cant change these settings then your CPU is locked and you cant overclock unless you want to go some major altering your CPU.

  • Powers off above FSB of 133 (barton 2500)

    Ok here we go....
    K7N2 Delta ILSR
    AMD (Barton) 2500
Mushkin 512MB 3200 In the Light green slot
    Enhance 300W PSU
Fresh Install of XP Pro SP1
Copper cooler CPU Fan and heat sink
    120MM Case fan
    Big Ass Problem
First of all when I was installing XP from CD it would get to the starting windows screen and then just power off. The only way to start back up was to unplug the power supply and it would power back up.
I changed to the Bios to defaults and was able to get XP loaded. (Only running at 1100 on the processor)
Now when I change the FSB to 166 it will run for about 5 to 30 min and the power of issue is back. I change the FSB to 100 or 133 and it will stay on and I can even use it.
Could this be a memory issue or a heat issue? It has even powered of in the BIOS screen when I had the FSB on 166.
    Any ideas?

    Afternoon
Depends what else you've got on your system. My system runs fine with a generic 350W PSU - people will tell you that you need 500w beasts, but hey - Kingmax Memory is supposed to be stroppy with Deltas, but mine's fine The only thing I'd say is that if you've got more than 1 HDD and 1 CD/DVD, then you could do with pepping up the PSU.
Mine's been running non-stop since I got it, night and day, never hit more than 35C with stock cooling and no case fan, and never locked up. Yippee

  • Overclocking of 2500

    Hello,
I am running a MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR, with a barton 2500 and 1 gig of  matched PC3200 Corsair XMS, I am also running a FX5600 @ 256 meg. Video card with a antec True Control 550 Watt power supply.... This unit is also water cooled and can remove 60 watts of heat.....
What overclock setting have been seen with this same set up and what settings have been used to achieve them

Funny you should ask.........Because I have those exact components.  I currently have my K7N2 Delta-ILSR with the "newer" Barton 2500 & PC3200 Corsair XMS ram (2X256, dual channel) at 220X11.  My ram settings are 11-3-3-2 (still working on getting those tighter)  My fsb is at 1.8, but does not need to be as the 220X11 runs fine at 1.7v.  I'm still working on overclocking as I just received my 2500 not to long ago.  But as of now it's at a stable 220X11 with 1.8v.  45ºC under load.  NOTHING is finalized yet though.   =]

  • MSI 6712 (KT4V) Problem AMD Ath Barton 2500+

Hi guys , im wondering if u can help me
ive got a AMD Barton 2500+ running @ 1498 instead of 18XX , ive tried the following,
    Setting Vcore standard to 1.65
FSB 166 , System does not boot
    FSB 133 , System thinks its a AMD 1900+
FSB 150 , System does not boot
FSB 100 , System thinks its AMD 1100
so now im running 1498mhz instead of 18XX mhz
every time i have to reset the bios to make it boot again ,
    My memory = Whitelike 333 DDR 2x 256mb Pc 2700 (single sided)
    My GFX = Chaintech Gf4 64mb AGP 4X
    Running XP sp1a Professional
Any ideas setting it to 18XX ??
    ive tried all the ratios 11 , 10 , 4 , 12.5 , 11.5 , 13.0 14 , 15 nothing seems to work
even setted the memory to 200mhz , that didn't work ...
    Any ideas?

Well Mate - If the temperature in safe mode at the lower CPU Speed is that high then it means at the proper speed the temperature would be high enough to prevent the system from booting.
And according to what you wrote about the white paste I suspect that your installation of the heatsink is the cause of the problem - which brings us back to the point - have you tried re-installing the heatsink with a thermal pad - not the silicon paste as per AMD instructions?
Anf if after following AMD's installation instructions to the letter you still have the problem you may have a faulty CPU - but unfortunately you will find that you have voided your warranty if you have used any paste instead / as well as the original Thermal pad.

  • Memory issues - kernel panics / system freezes with 1Gb Memory Card

I've recently updated my PowerBook OS to 10.4.7 and now more recently 10.4.8.
Prior to this, i had been running a pair of pc2700 memory cards (1x1Gb + 1x 512Mb) bought from crucial technology on 10.3.9 with no problems.
During the upgrade, i experienced complete system lock ups and kernel panics. pulling the 1Gb card resolved the problem.
So i thought it could be duff memory (it happens). I ran hardware checker, both long and short tests, ran memchecker from single user and there was no reported errors although i was still getting crashes.
I returned the memory to crucial and they replaced it and then i went to reinstall memory in the pb.
Once reinstalled, problems re-emerged. Both System profiler and iStat pro show both memory sticks as ok. both are pc2700 DDR.
i tried just the 1 Gb stick in alternate memory slots. with the memory in the lower slot i was getting system freezes, in the top slot i was getting kernel panics.
I've pulled the 1Gb and reverted to 768Mb (512Mb lower (crucial)/ 256MB (apple) upper) and i'm back to normal.
    Now what?
As my mac is getting on, i'd like to get as much RAM in it as i can, ideally the 1.5Gb /2Gb which it can support. I'd be suprised if it could be the memory stick being duff (2 duff in a row?), its not a faulty memory slot as system profiler is showing that its full.
Any suggestions? Anything to do with how 10.4.8 handles the memory addressing?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    PowerBook G4 1Ghz FW800   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I've had that problem, too. I found out that it was one of my memory modules that were broken.
I'd say pop back in your other memory module, then get out your PowerBook DVD and stick it in Restart your PowerBook while holding down the Option Key on your keyboard until some buttons start to show up on your screen.
Select the Hardware Test one, then click the Arrow button. It'll boot into a utility and you can run a hardware test that includes checking your memory.
If any of your memory is bad, it'll show up like "**ERROR ERROR**" and give you a code.
After you've identified the hardware problem (hopefully just the RAM), then you can go to Crucial's website and fill out an RMA request to have the memory replaced. I'm pretty sure Crucial has a life-time warranty on their memory products.

  • 975x PowerUP with four memory banks filled

I'm planning to purchase another two G.Skill memory sticks, and I want to know if anyone have had problems installing four memory banks, and if this has limited in any way the board's overclocking (I don't want to step down from 3 Ghz...)
    Thank you.

I should have an answer for you in about a week when I have my 2 kits of Mushkin 2048 MB, XP2-6400, 4-4-3-10 Dual Pack (2x 1024 MB) 996523. The Mushkin support team guy told me that I would be able to reach 850Mhz or higher with that memory because they have Micron D9 chips, so I hope he's right about that
I know there not G. Skill, but the ProMos chips on those modules aren't bad overclockers either.
I know that my 4 x 1GB GEIL PC2-6400UDC modules are crappy overclockers because they have lousy memory chips...

  • Can PC2700 memory work in my G5

I'm wordering if a 512MB PC2700 DDR memory stick will work in my G5. Both Apple's memory page and Crucial.com say PC3200, but will it work with PC2700 and just run slower?

It should work, but as Macs are notoriously finicky about RAM, I would find the right spec RAM. There is not much of a difference in price and the stability and avoidance of future problems would be well worth it.
I use Patriot RAM, but Other World Computing sells high quality RAM - mostly Samsung - at nice prices too. I suggest you get a 1GB stick to max out the one slot since DDR prices will no doubt rise due to the increased use of DDR2.

  • ATI Radeon 9000 Pro video card is conflicting with additional memory

I have a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro video card. I have a 645E Max motherboard (MS-6547). I recently purchased a 512MB dimm of Kingston PC2700 Cas 2.5 memory (KVR333X64C25/512) to go with the the 256MB dimm of the same model # above. I installed the memory and my screen stays blank. When I remove the new dimm it runs fine. I did get the memory and the motherboard tested at the store where I got the motherboard and they work fine. I came to the conclusion it was my video card when I removed all my components except the memory and the video card, and turned on the machine, nothing. I did try swiching dimm location and changing any bios settings I thought would make it work. I tried updating the video card drivers and motherboard AGP drivers. If anybody had this problem in the past could you tell me how you got it to work.

I took the board and the 2 dimms to the store where I bought them.  They hooked up both dimms and a video card to the board.  When it was powered up, both dimms were recognized.  After I got home I proceded to determine if another component it conflicting with the memory.  I started with both dimms and my video card the Radeon.  I powered up with no other hardware connected and the screen remains blank.  I remove the 512MB dimm and leave the 256MB dimm in, and powered up and pc booted up normally.

  • IMac 27" (2013) won't work with Axiom Memory

I purchased an iMac earlier this year from MacMall and although I intended to purchase my own memory, I fell victim to their "sweet deals" and opted for them to upgrade the memory. They replaced the stock 8gb memory with a 32gb kit.
I had problems as soon as it arrived and unfortunately delayed contacting them about support for it until I was past the 30 day warranty.
My original issue was that the computer recognized all 32gb but every hour or so it would randomly crash and reboot with no warning. I ran memory tests against the ram and it always came back saying it was working. I took the memory out and found they used the correct memory as far as the label shows and it is low voltage. I looked for solutions online and was unable to solve this issue. I contacted MacMall and of course they said to go to Apple or the manufacturer. I did find some others with the same issue but I figured by best bet was the manufacturer.
I reached out to Axiom and surprisingly their support is great and respond quickly. They immediately said they would ship out replacement memory. Which is great though it was pretty easy to get to this point so I assume they know of the issue. Once I received it I connected the 32gb they shipped out into the 4 banks on my iMac. It would not start up now. This is an even worse issue. I tried to use different slots and then I tried just two memory sticks in the top two slots which worked for the stock memory. No matter what I did it would not start up. I put the original memory back in and it worked fine.
I reached out to them and they sent another set. Itried this set and the same issue. It would not start up. I put my original memory back in and it starts fine and everything is working great.
Now my next steps are to wait for Axiom on another possible solution and to go to the Apple Store to see if they can test a different brand. When I originally spoke to someone at Apple they told me I should have purchased Crucial or Corsair. While I don't disagree I do not want to spend over $300 again for memory.
Anyone else have any ideas? I was thinking that perhaps there is a way to reset hardware with a command when trying to start your computer that is used to troubleshoot some issues but not sure if that could possibly be related here.

Well I went through the processes and wasted a ton of time. I have determined this iMac is just garbage. I ended up working with Axiom and they sent me three sets of memoryt replacements. All of them had the same result where once the RAM was installed, the iMac would not turn on. When I switched back to the original memory I noticed that it wouldn't start the first time and when I swapped memory slots it would work after that.
Axiom finally decided to refund me for the 32gb memory purchase after exhausting all of their support options. At this point, I went to Crucial since when I spoke with Apple support they confirmed that it could be the brand and I should opt for Crucial or a couple of other brands. I went ahead and ordered 16gb of memory from Crucial - I figured I would save some cash for now to test and confirm 16gb works.
I connected the two 8gb sticks they sent and I had the same results as the Axiom memory. I tried swapping to different slots but it refused to turn on with this memory. However, when I reverted back to the original Apple memory it would not start up with the original 8gb. I eventually was able to get the computer to start up but only when I connected a single 4gb stick of the original memory (which is what I am using to type up this post now).
I will try to turn it off again and connect the other original memory so at least I am at a useable 8gb. I am going to reach out to Apple support again and see if I can schedule to bring it in. I am not sure what sort of fix there would be and I looked into any type of firmwares available and possible resets (like PRAM) but I don't believe anything could help this. It is just very strange there could be a hardware issue that works with the original memory but nothing from any other vendors.

  • Msi Big Bang Xpower II can only run with 3 memory modules?

Hello there! I've just got my new system up and running. But it cant boot with 4 memory modules when there is a module in slot 7? I have a 4x8gb kit from corsair (CMP32GX3M4X1600C10), and a Msi Big Bang Xpower II..
When i start it, it just shows me the debug code "67" which is "Late Cpu Initialization" according to the "User Guide".. It stays there, for about 15 seconds, then it shuts down, and does the same, over and over..
Atm, i'm running with 3 modules, and there's no problems at all! I've testet ALL memory blocks, in another computer, and they run just fine..
    What should i do?

Also, what cpu, bios version , memory type etc
Make sure the mem mods are in the proper slots for tri channel operation.

If everything comes up clean, update to the most recent bios. Only do this if your computer is stable in bios. IE You are only having crashes in windows etc.

I want to ask something about firefox.
why firefox use very much memory?
can you develop to reduce memory comsume?
this problem is very distrub in my PC with low memory.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

How much memory is Firefox using right now?
    # Press '''CTRL+SHIFT+ESC''' to load the Task Manager window
    # Click the Processes tab at the top. (Click once near the top of the window if you don't see tab
    # Find firefox.exe, and see how many kilobytes of memory it's using.
Showing around 80MB when Firefox first starts is normal. Right now, I have 75 tabs open and it's using 500MB - this varies a lot depending on what you have in the tabs.
Other than high memory usage, what other problems are you experiencing? (Examples include slowness, high CPU usage, and failure to load certain sites)
Many of these issues, including high memory usage, can be caused by misbehaving add-ons. To see if this is the case, try the steps at [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]. Outdated plugins are another cause of this issue - you can check for this at http://www.mozilla.com/plugincheck

  • If I buy an ipad 2 with more memory, can i transfer everything from my old ipad to the new one

If I purchase an ipad 2  with more memory, can I transfer all the contents of the old ipad to the new one?

You can backup your current iPad, and then restore the new iPad from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079 - it excludes music, videos, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content (if you don't have the apps on your computer then you can re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519)
Restoring onto a different device won't restore passwords so you'll need to enter your router and email passwords and any passwords stored on websites.
