OverClocking MSI FX5700-VTD256

Hey all... I've got a FX5700 256MB Video card installed on my computer, and I'm thinking of over clocking it (dispite that fact that its new). Does anybody have any idea how overclockable this card is? the model name is MSI FX5700-VTD256. (the stock clocks are 425 MHz core and 500 MHz DDR memory)

VGA problem
I am getting bad JPEG quality when browsing the web under either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, that is, picture under the JPEG format does display but with lots of artefacts, pixel soups around or in the pictures. What is causing this?
Capture problem
My capture card automatically set itself to NTSC colour standard each time I restart my PC, I can set this via Virtual each time. Are there any other settings which I can access to set it to PAL or SECAM permanently? If not, why this auto set up to NTSC?

I will like to update my posting, the jpeg display problem seems to be from the internet accelerator utilities provided by my ISP which reduce the quality of JPEG for the acceleration of web site display. But I am not sure if this is the main reason, have to test from another ISP to be sure.

In the Manual Instruction book they say ..just to conect the cable ..and all is OK, they show a picture too.

The 256 MB version will allow you to load heavier 3D scenes in its memory with great performance, but the 128 MB version will have more bandwidth and it will generally be faster, although when the time come that a 128 MB video card will run out of memory, then the card will start to swap memory between its memory and AGP memory, thus it will be much slower that having a 256 MB version a bit slower.
Confused?
I´d go for the 256 MB version. although it has 2.8 Ns memory and you could reach just 714 MHz memory clock speed, but the other card will have less memory.
It´s just an opinion, but I would choose 256 MB version if I were you, and if I had the money

Does MSI FX5900SP VTD256 like ASUS A7S333?

I just got my new MSI GeForceFX5900SP VTD256.
After uninstalling my previous board and configuring my new card, my computer froze with a blank white screen.
After variuos unsuccessfull setups from at my BIOS, I decided to format and reinstall my Windows2000 with SP3.
As soon as I install my video drivers, the problem comes back.
Fooling around with my BIOS setup (AGP apperture size and stuff) and my card memory, 2D and 3D frequences, I could put my system to work ok for a longer time. But it freezes at the and anyway.
I found that my cards conf was unable to detect my AGP slot speed and capabilities (mine is 4X). And it detected it as "AGP(on PCI mode)".
I then updated my mobo BIOS and installed a new VGA driver from ASUS. Now my fx5900 can detect my AGP speed and now it displays "AGP" instead of "AGP(on PCI mode)".
I thought that would work but it still freezes after a moment. I unplugged all my periferals, leaving only my HD, CDRW and video card on fearing that it could be something with power force.
If I use only regular apps, like browsing the internet and stuff, my comp works for about 10 min before freezing. But if I run 3Dmark 2000, it crashes right in the 1st, 2nd test.
Any IDEAS what is going on? Is it overheating (the cooler runs ok and the temperature when I check is cool)? Is my card malfunctioning?

What is a PSU? Power Supply Unit.

MSI VX6600-VTD256 (602-8988-010)

I have MSI VX6600-VTD256 (602-8988-010)
When use the drivers on the install CD that came with the card by
running "setup" from the root directory of the CD everything works fine.
However if I use the latest MSI drivers (nvidia_xp2k.v71.22) or the
latest nvidia drivers (71.89_win2kxp_english) I get anomalies and or
artifacts on my desktop.
I would like to know why card works fine with the drivers on the install
CD, but has problems with the latest drivers even though the latest
drivers are in fact newer.

The 5900, no contest.
more bandwidth, more fillrate, more shaders.
256MB doesn't give much of an advantage right now, and by the time it will both will be outdated so might as well take the one that gives you the better preofrmance right now.
You could also wait a bit and see what new cards nVidia roll out.

FX5700 VTD256 ViVo - TV connections problems

my problems are maybe very often.. but, I don't find any quality response ...
1) In my nView mode I have still ONE display, but connected are ANALOG monitor and TV. i have not possibility of choice. If I select TV, my CRT monitor is shut down...and conversely.
2) If I accept one of them-TV, signal is BLACK-WHITE....

I have the same problem. I believe he knows that he can only change to TV or Monitor in NView but not in windows and not dual display. Why is 5700 VTD128 or 256 VIVO not compatible with windows XP. I check windows Video support compatibility and this model isn't their? Did MSI make a mistake? I've must say I'm a little dissapointed with MSI. I've bought many cards from MSI and untill now they were very good.

With a stock Intel CPU cooler, I don't recommend going past what default voltages can achieve, excluding maybe a memory voltage increase or timings adjustment if needed. Some utilities are very important to have before starting to OC such as Real Temp & CPU-Z. What are your CPU & IOH temps reading in bios H/W Monitor? The temps of the individual cores is also very important, which Real Temp will provide you with.
As mentioned, with a stock cooler, I would suggest not going past about 3.507 (bclk 167 X 21). Other settings need to be changed before this is done however. We need those temps too, before specific settings can be suggested. The last thing any of us want to do, is make settings changes & voltage recommendations that may damage your system.

So far I have overclocked CPU to run at 3.0 GHZ and RAM speed at 1800 MHZ.
If I set CPU to run at a higher speed the system boots fine but the OS refuses to start
Also I have encountered some hang ups in games. I believe it's because of the automized RAM timings.

Ouf, that all the options in Cell menu... This motherboard must have been designed for professional overclockers.
So any suggestions, any guides that I should follow?
I have heard and seen on the internet that Core i7 920 can reach 4,0 GHZ but not quite stable can I achieve such perfomance with good stability?
How do I get the real full specifications of these RAMs?
Should I enable some of the CPU features to conserve power and have a better temperature?
Should I enable also green power?
PS) Again to clarify it. I'm aiming for perfomance.

Good evening everyone, I would like some help with getting the best overclock I can with my rig. This is what I have: Msi X58 Pro-E, Intel core i7 920 co stepping, Corsair Hydro H50 cooler, 3 x 2 gb Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 c9, EVGA GTX260-216 SC 896mb, 1 TB Western Digital 32cache Hard drive SATA, Lite-on DVD/RW with Lightscribe, OCZ Stealthxstream 600 watt PSU. Running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Currently it says that the memory is only running at 500 mghz. I can use all the help I can get. From what I have read it should overclock fairly well. Using CPU-Z? If so, 500x2=1000. For a simple OC without having to do much of anything, change bclk to 166/167. Be sure to disable Spread Spectrum in bios Cell Menu. Go up from there until it fails to post. Add a step or two of CPU voltage & check for post again. At some point, RAM speed becomes a factor, & other voltages & settings join in the mix. Primarily, the main items involved are bclk, CPU & RAM voltage, QPI voltage sometimes at some point, RAM timings, Memory & Uncore Ratios. Other than that, disable Overspeed Protection, C-State, Turbo on or off, EIST on or off. Most important, know the operating temp & voltage limits.

RS482M4, you can not OC on that MB no matter what BIOS you have. Best MB for OC with that CPU is K8N Neo4-F (PCB 1.0), K8N Neo4 Platinum (PCB 1.0)
