Overclocking of 2500

Hello,
I am running a MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR, with a barton 2500 and 1 gig of  matched PC3200 Corsair XMS, I am also running a FX5600 @ 256 meg. Video card with a antec True Control 550 Watt power supply.... This unit is also water cooled and can remove 60 watts of heat.....
What overclock setting have been seen with this same set up and what settings have been used to achieve them

Funny you should ask.........Because I have those exact components.  I currently have my K7N2 Delta-ILSR with the "newer" Barton 2500 & PC3200 Corsair XMS ram (2X256, dual channel) at 220X11.  My ram settings are 11-3-3-2 (still working on getting those tighter)  My fsb is at 1.8, but does not need to be as the 220X11 runs fine at 1.7v.  I'm still working on overclocking as I just received my 2500 not to long ago.  But as of now it's at a stable 220X11 with 1.8v.  45ºC under load.  NOTHING is finalized yet though.   =]

Using MSI K7N2 Delta L MB.
Want to overclock Barton 2500 [without and CPU mod].  But, memory is not overclockable.
Is there a way to overclock the CPU while keeping the memory running at 166/333?
When I've tried to raise the FSB of the CPU, I can't get the memory clock to stay at 166/333.
    Thanks

dont run a fsb higher then the memory as its most likely to be slower.
you can try to increase the speed 3-4mhz at a time until it starts to crash and then you back off 5mhz.
    or buy faster memory.
    you can always raise multiplier.
im not sure but i think the highest you can go is 12.5 and if you chose higher it goes back to lower numbers.

    Hello All,
I'm a real newbie when it comes to overclocking.  I spent some time reading through various technical threads from various forums before I decided to tweak my newly built system.  Found an article by "Some1ne" on overclocking with a NEO4 Platinum and found it to be quite useful.  Last night was the first time I went through with the tweakis and probably didn't do it right or at least get the best possible performance from my components.  Below was what I did from the bios (1.2v) to the best of my knowledge without the system failing to post or crash when running programs or playing games.  Other than 3dmark05, I haven't use any other programs to benchmark the hardware's performance.
    FSB:   225 MHz
    Memclock Index:  200 MHz
CL2-3-3-5 all other settings on auto
    Memory voltage:  2.85V
    Chipset voltage:  default
    CPU VID:  1.45V
    CPU Voltage:  6.6% OverVID
    CPU multiplier:  11x
    HTT multiplier:  4x
    Aggressive Timing:  disabled
    All "... Spread" settings:  disabled
    3DMark05:  5800+ (don't remember the exact score)
With the current setup I have, can someone give me some advice on how I can better tweak my system?  Thanks!

  • K7N2 Delta ILSR memory problem

I have a K7N2 Delta ILSR board with Athlon XP 2500 with 2 Gig of Mushkin Black Line ram (the ones that are
suppose to be CL2). I change the FSB to 200, and my memory won't run at CL2. Want to raise the Dram voltage
to 2.8V to see if it would make a difference. I looked all over this site for the modded bios 7.8. Does anyone
have the modded bios??? Any help would be appreciated.......

He/She overclocked the 2500+, to make it become a 3200+. Done it myself, but it mostly works with the first step of the 2500+. - That means the overclock forum.
Well, CAS 2 is a very tight timing, which I don't think is possible. In general on Socket A systems:
    - FSB 133/266 --> CAS 2 or 2.5
    - FSB 166/333 --> CAS 2.5
    - FSB 200/400 --> CAS 3

I would just push the FSB up till it starts to give problems and then back off a little and stop. If not unlock it and go for 200Mhz FSB and see where you can get to without adjusting the power.
There are quite a few articles on overclocking the 2500+ on the net and well worth the read to see what Voltage they are using.

  • OC'd but seems slower

i overclocked my 2500 to a 3200 by raising the fsb to 200.  i also upped the vcore and got some more stability (vcore was at 1.7V) temps were stable at mid to upper 40's
however, it didnt seem that much faster.  i checked CPUZ and everything and i was running  200 fsb at 2.2 ghz.  however, i was getting slower frame rates in games (i.e. Wolfenstein Enemy Territory)
i tested it with 3dmark 03 and found this
    2500+ = score of 4909
    3200+ = score of 5092
not much of an increase, considering how much i boosted it by.  also, enemy territory seemed to run slower and i kept getting errors til i boosted vcore (up to 1.7V).  im confused, any suggestions?

If you are OCing your AMD's FSB, make sure that you have the Option in the BIOS to Lock both the AGP/PCI Buses to as Close to their Default Frequencies (66/33MHZ) as Possible, otherwise you may harm your Cards, and the AGP Bus being Overclocked because of Failure to lock the Bus at 66MHZ will make your Games Coppy, and Slower...If you dont have the Option to Lock the AGP/PCI Buses in the BIOS, then you Must Download and install "Clock-Generator" from the Same site as "CPU-Z"  http://www.cpuid.com  ..............Sean REILLY875

    Hi Hi,
    I am overclock my 2500+ to 3200+.
It sometime hang up when the work load is too heavy. Around once a week. (7x24)
However, I turn FSB Spread Spectrum to 1.00. The problem is disappeared but the performance is a little bit down grade. Do anybody try about this?
Any suggestion and comment on my case?
Do we harm my PC much when I set FSB Spread Spectrum on overclocking?

Spread Spectrum And Overclocking do not mix and I do not advise this AT ALL if you overclock.

  • Three KT4VL Questions

Does it overclock the 2500+ (333) well?
Will it run two sticks of pc3200 (running at 333) at fastest timings as well as it does one?
Does it like the ATI 9800 Pro?

On the Acer the purchased music is automatically added to the 'Purchased' playlist, is there anyway that I can do this on my Mac using a smart playlist?
Set up your smart playlist for "kind" = "Protected AAC audio file"
The second problem is that I bought four songs and accidently wiped them off my Acer without backing them up and transferring them to my MacBook Pro, is there anyway that I can redownload them without having to pay for them a second time?
Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased tracks. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. If you haven't made a backup, and don't have your tracks on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
You can try contacting iTunes Music Store Customer Service and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis, but don't count on it.
Lastly, I wiped my old computer before I deauthorized it to give to my brother. Can I deauthorize it so that I can authorize another computer?
You cannot yourself deauthorize a computer that's not working or to which you no longer have access. You can authorize a total of up to five systems, so it's probably not really important that you deauthorize your dead unit now unless you've hit five. Once your reach five total authorizations, a button will appear in your iTunes Music Store account that will allow you to deauthorize all your systems.
BTW, all of these questions have been answered in these forums already (most several times), so next time, try a Search and you may not have to wait for a reply.
    Regards.

  • Northbridge 1500mhz under gpu load on both A75IA-E53+6800K and A75MA-P33+6600K

This is my first time on a forum in a few years.  Hello all, and thanks in advance to anyone who even tries to help.  I have lost more sleep relative to money I have saved--unless other motherboards suffer the same problem.
There are a few posts on this forum involving this issue, and even a few on other forums.  The only solution was to replace the motherboard.  It seems that it wasn't because of a defective motherboard, but rather a limitation of certain A75 motherboard.  I would be happy to post screenshots of my issue--but here it is...
On both of my machines (a10 and a8 running on slightly different MSI motherboards), I noticed some odd skipping/jumping and excessive screen tearing intermittently.  I figured it was something to do with having an APU (hearing about "micro stutter").  After reading about it, I dismissed that because I am not using a dedicated GPU at all (no crossfire).  Then I was reading about the CPU throttle due to heat.  I am using a Corsair H60 water cooler, so i figured that heat is probably not the issue.  Using click bios, my CPU never exceeded 55º when running prime95, and never hit 60º when running MSI Kombuster and 95 simultaneously.  I have tried just about every combination of over and undervolting possible (through AMD Overdrive), as well as all ram speeds (800cl5, 1333 cl6, 1333 cl12, 2133 XMP etc etc etc).  Though I do get decent performance, and for the most part all my games get 60+fps,  I still don't like the idea of not getting my moneys worth.  With the NB overclocked to 2500, I get MUCH BETTER bandwidth and latency results on MaxxMem, as well as other benchmarks.  the problem is that THE MOMENT any intense video even so much as begins processing, the NB drops (or raises if manually set to <1500), and the NB/VID voltage LOCKS to 1.3 in all software I check it with.
Anybody else hear about this problem?  Even if you aren't familiar with it, open up CPUz or anything like it--and run a windowed version of a graphically intense game.  Before it even has any chance to get hot--you will notice the NB drop to 1500.  If this happens to you as well, we should pursue actions to right this wrong.  I don't if its a credit towards a replacement, or a simple software / BIOS update.
I am oldschool, and my computer cases have no windows.  I appreciate the simplicity of these boards--the no frills and simple approach of the of the A75 chipset.  Sadly, I don't appreciate the way the ones I picked are cooperating.

Just to give a little bit more clarification on the situation.
I have had this problem most likely since I got the computer.  It didn't bother me because i was playing TF2 and Loadout, which were working just fine.  Its when I tried Thief that I really noticed the jerking and stuff.  I went through weeks of troubleshooting.  Scouring the web for similar problems, and a few other boards by other manufacturers have the same problem, in almost the same way.
I feel like I have done everything I can do to spot the source of the problem with no success.
I even have 2 different configurations with slightly different hardware  having the same problem.  Anybody else want to try this if you have FM2 board and Richland APU?

I did go into the Bios setup go thru the Frequency/Voltage Control this is what the manual say if I need to do some Overclocking. There only two option in Frequancy seting: Auto Detact DIMM/PCI CLK (Enable/Disable)
               Spread Specrum                (Disable/+/-025%,0.35%,0.50% and0.75%
If I need to overclock I have to Disable the Specrum? One thing I did too is I go for the jumpers too but the seting are still the same, the thing is that there no Multiplier could be seem in the Cmos?I dont know wat else can I do to overclock this board.Might be this board is non overclocke type but why does it say this board designed to support overclocking?Ahhhh.....wat a life I've got this board for...I really need help on?There must be a way.....:(

  • Barton 2500+ K7N2G-L How to overclock?

    Hi
Im completely new to overclocking and I dont understand the jargon here and at overclockers.com.
Could anyone explain in simple words how I could speed up the system?
Ive heard there are some windows programs which do it, could this be that simple?

It would be best not to overclock untill you understand every thing about it and the terms.
1st if your running stock cooling i would not even try
2nd If you have the newer barton 2500+ then the CPU is locked and the wire trick does not even work, But older models are unlocked with the motherboard you bought.  esay way to tell if you change the settings im going to mention its unlocked.
Over clock in the bios chage the FSB up in small increasements it should be default at 166 (333 CPU bus speed) and you can also change the multiplier it kind of works like this.
    166FSB X 11multiplier = 1830MHz roughly (your CPU)
If you change something like this:
    180FSB X 12multiplier = 2160MHz
but if you cant change these settings then your CPU is locked and you cant overclock unless you want to go some major altering your CPU.

  • Mobile 2500 overclocking problems with KT3 Ultra2

First off sorry for my poor english.. it's not my first language.  Now here's my system:
    CPU: Mobile 2500
    HSF: Vantec Aeroflow with AS5
    MB: MSI KT3 Ultra2
    RAM: 2x512MB PC2700
    VIDEO: Leadtek GeForce 4 TI4200
The temperature is about 43C cpu and 40C case when the system is idle and it can get to 50C cpu and 43C case when the system is on maximum use.
So here's the situation...  I adjust the bus speed from 133 to 166 mhz..  I put the vcore voltage at 1.675 which is the maximum I can choose in the bios..  The multiplier is stuck on 14x..  When I try to run Prime95 or 3dmark03 my system is very unstable..  In prime95, one time it stopped after 10 minutes, the other time after 40 minutes.  In 3dmark03, I tried it at least five times and it usually stops during the second run of the tests.
I'm very disappointed because I read a lot about this cpu before buying it and everyone was overclocking it easily so I had no doubt it would get to 166 mhz especially with proper cooling..  It sucks pretty bad!
I hope some of you have some advices or suggestions on what I could try to make it work..  You are my last hope!  Thanks in advance!!

Here comes another update...  Keep in mind that my cpu is currently at 14x166=2337 mhz.   I did some benchmark today and the results are starting to give me hope..  first I ran Prime95 for 14 hours without errors on the custom test with 2048-4096.  During this testing, the voltage went like this: 3.3V = 3.22V , 5V = 4.95V , 12V = 12.28V.  Is it normal?  Does it mean my power supply is good enough?  The specifications of the Power supply are : 3.3V-20A , 5V-30A , 12V-15A.  After that I ran all 3dmark03 tests three times without any glitches..  Then I played Far cry for about 20-30 minutes without any problems either.
Now what I'm wondering is if I run Prime95 without any problems but that 3dmark03 works sometimes and fail sometimes, can it help you guys to tell me what could be causing the instability?
Thank you again for all your help!
