Overclocking software for MSI K7N2-l

I'm searching for overclocking software to change fsb speed under Windows.
Unfortunately Fuzzy logic doesn't work on this board. ;(
Does there any other utility exist ?
*hoping*

Yeah, what backwoodz said.  You can change a slew of items in the BIOS to get more speed out of it.  You can either change your FSB, or if you CPU is unlocked, your multiplier.  Or, you can change both.

  • Best DDR Module for MSI K7N2/K7N2G mobos...help

    Hi,
i am thinking in buying new DDR modules for my PC, and not generic ones, i mean high performance, low latency, ready to overclock modules. And i was thinking in buying PC3200 or PC3500 modules.
So, could you share your experience with me about high performance (CL2) DDR modules out there and the MSI K7N2/K7N2G mobos.
    Feel free to post.
    Bye.

getting quality memory is a must with these new power hungry boards.
I use both Mushkin 3200 Black low latency 2x512 in 2 machines.
I also use 2x 512 XMS Corsair 3200LL and they are equal but I favor mushkin for absolutly no problems, stable, fast.
With anything you get what you pay for.

  • Overclocking and the MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR

    Hi everyone,
I wanna overclock my system. But, I've experienced several problems.
Problem one: When i try to set my memory timings manual (3-3-3-8)
in the BIOS, CPU-Z, Everest etc shows CL2.5.... instead of the CL3.0 that I've selected in the BIOS.
The second problem: When i raise the front side bus to 200MHz FSB, and doing the same with the memory speed (200MHz, 1:1 Synchronous with the CPU..)
I get many BSOD's in Windows... So I've tried to raise the RAS#to CAS# delay to 4, the same for #RAS Precharge (also 4) and the Cycle Time (TRAS) at 11.
But this also doesn't work... The memory voltage is already at 2.7V, and it can't get higher...
How can i get this board working on a FSB of 400MHz (200) ? On my previous board (KT600) I've reached the 2.31 Ghz without problems, totally stable.
    Anyhelp will be appreciated.
For my specifications, see my signature.
Edit: Oh, i see that i have placed my topic in the wrong place, sorry for that.

Thanks for above suggestions. But, as I said before,  i can't change the CAS Latency of my memory... When i set the CAS to 3 in the bios, it stays at 2.5.... (checked with CPU-Z, Everest, CPUID) Is this a known bios-issue?
And my memory is designed to run at 200Mhz CL3.0-3-3-8.... I guess that's the thing that causes the instability... is that possible?
And before i flash my bios, I'd like to know if this solves my problem. As i said before, on my previous motherboard, i ran 210Mhz without a problem... totally stable..
    Thanks.

"When i set the CAS to 3 in the bios, it stays at 2.5.... (checked with CPU-Z, Everest, CPUID) Is this a known bios-issue?"
possible, with newest or modded should work normal.(never had similar issue) also underpowered memory stick can cause instability, with modded BIOS should be able to setup mem. vcore to 2.8V which is arround 2.76V(mobo is undervolted), also your Kingston required at least 2.75V to work property at ranked speed with default timings.

    yes its possible.

your prevision mobo is much different.
    follow this tips:
go into BIOS and Enable "Super Stability Mode", setup "FSB:RAM" Ratio in 1:1, setup "CPU Interface" to Normal,
    apply memory timings as follow:
    CAS: 3
    TRCD: 3
    TRP: 3
    TRAS: 9
    and memory vcore(Voltage) to 2.8V.
get a copy of Memtest86 and create bootable diskette or cd-rom(can be found on memtest site), boot from diskette, when memtest started select and use test number 5 only, that can be done via this keyboard shortcuts from a memtest ("c","1","3","5") ensure you can loop/pass test 20 times without errors.
post back results if there errors come report how much per pass is it. if there are errors go back into BIOS and start pull back FSB by 10Mhz (etc: apply 190FSB) and re-test with memtest. Ensure you have DIMM1 is filled with memory stick(close to CPU socket).
post back results. also check memory sticks individually to ensure there is no malfunction/defective stick.
also single/dual CH differences on Nforce2 is around 1%.

It's not too bad to set up. In BIOS Cell Menu, change DRAM Timing Mode to 'Linked". Enter Advance DRAM Config. & leave CR (command rate) at 1 (this 'may' have to be changed to CR 2 but normally only when using the XMP profile), set timings 9 9 9 24, tRFC 88, Memory Ratio to 5, Uncore Ratio to 10, DRAM Voltage (V) from Auto to 1.61V's. This should give you a stable 1740 speed.

  • Problem with sound for msi K7N2 delta-L

    Hello i'm french.
I have bought a msi card but i have problem with the sound.
    i can't have The dolby 5.1.
    But i don't have the s-bracket(MCP2-T) so i don't know if i can have the dolby 5.1.
I will try the answer of backwoodz .
    Thanks to you!

    Afternoon
I have the Delta-L myself, and to my eternal chagrin, we only have the MCP, and therefore the crappy Realtek ALC-650 sound chip, not the NVidia Soundstorm featured on the MCP-T. We'll just have to resign ourselves to sounds straight from Satan's cul.
Unless we buy a Terratec, of course
    take it easy,

  • My Review for MSI Big Bang Xpower & Overclocked

This will be the very 1st X58 big bang series of MSI and the 1st X58 MSI motherboard to have USB 3.0 and SATA 3 connections. Targets the enthusiast, hardcore gamers as well as overclockers. This board is already equipped with OC Genie buttons which was first implemented for MSI P55 series motherboards. YOu will also see later that instead of the old power, reset and Direct OC Easy Buttons. They are all now soft touch. PCI slots were also removed and been replaced by PCIEx16. There will be x6 PCIEx16 slots for this board ready for multi gpu setups. Military Class Components are also implemented into the board like Solid Caps, better chokes and server grade caps.
Here you will see that the components around the socket area are well layout and very good in quality. These are Hi-C Cap on PWM and super ferrite chokes. Im sure this will provide the best efficient voltage to the processor during normal use and as well as during overclocking. See the two 8pin power connector for the Processor? This will provide more headroom for overclocking the processor especially for Gulftowns
Forgot to mention other things like The board has V-Check points to measure actual voltage for CPU Vcore, VTT, DDR and IOH. Debug led indicator for easy isolation of boot up problems or mobo problems. Jumper for removing voltage wall limits and lastly the board includes an audio card for best audio experience.
So next these are the rear ports
Bundled Accessories. Sata cables, Sata power, IDE cable, USB 2.0 Bracket, eSATA Pack, M-Connectors, V-check Cables and a great gadget for overclocking the board on the fly "OC Dashboard" (shows also the current temps, and voltages)
For some serious 2D Bench Results and overclock on air
    First run. 4.6ghz Spi32M
    Second run. 4.8ghz Spi32m

I ended up giving up on it for the time being, just using my SMC NIC. Would be quite interested in finding out what the problem is though.
Anyone else in the same boat?
    Hi,
Your problem is not the same, SiliconMan is trying to connect with a dial-up modem not LAN. Your problem sounds like it may be configuration, do a search on this post, I'm sure you will find people with onboard LAN troubles. It's hard to troubleshoot though since you didn't provide any info about your computer. Good Luck

  • Data corruption on MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR

    Hi all,
Just got my new MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR up and running.
Got some issues with the memory running at 200mhz while the Barton core of my Athlon Xp 2600+ was running 166mhz, this had to be 1:1 (thx forum  )
While running the default bios settings with cpu/mem at 166/166 fsb everything is stable as hell. I have been running Prime95 for 2 days now and using the system for dvd ripping/encoding, UT2004 gaming etc.
Then the overclocking began   I'm using the standard AMD cooler that came with my boxed Xp2600+ so I didn't expect an FSB of 200mhz.
I stopped at an FSB of 190mhz...been crunching Prime95 for 18 hours now and again very stable.
Now comes the problem : Sometimes I get crc errors when installing a game or decrypting a dvd!! But how can this be? Prime95 is stable at this 190fsb overclock.
When using an FSB of 166mhz no data corruption or crc errors.
What can this be? It's not the cables because they're all the same as in my old setup which was running (ahum...walking) stable. PCI/AGP speeds are locked when overclocking...
Only thing I can think of is the power supply. I've read in a warning post from Bas that the Q-Tec 550w psu I have is crap. So my guess is PSU, but maybe it's something else I'm forgetting...Any suggestions??
The stupid thing is when I'm not overclocking I don't have the data corruption problems, but I'm still using the same crappy Q-Tec 550w PSU.
    Help!
    gr,
    Remco

Hmmm, that's curious. On the MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR product page Kingston memory is recommended
Ok, did a Memtest86 v1.11 pass at cpu/dimm 166/166 - no problems whatsoever. I think using Prime95 would have revealed memory problems...but will do another pass with cpu/dimm at 190/190.
Can overclocking affect the Promise Raid Controller?? It should be locked like the PCI/AGP but who knows...
Well, I still have to replace my PSU but I'm not 100% sure that this is the problem. What PSU would you recommend? ...and I'm also thinking about replacing the standard CPU cooler, any advice is welcome

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Memory problems

I'm trying to burn in a system in a 50 deg C (122 deg F) room for a minimum of 12 hours.  The main system components are as follows:
    Motherboard:  MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR
    CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800+
    Memory: 2x512 OCZ PC3200 EL
My problem is that the burn-in software continues to freeze up during the memory test.  I've already contacted the software manufacturers and the software is stable.  It's a problem with the way the motherboard handles the memory.  I've tried putting the memory in dual channel configuration and changing the timing settings in the BIOS.  The SPD settings are 2.5-3-3-7.  Right now I have them at 3-4-3-8.  It's a lot more stable than it was under the default settings but it still freezes up sometime after 7 hours.  Unfortunately, I wasn't around when it froze so I don't know exactly how long it lasted.  I can say that after 7 hours, it wasn't showing any slowdown in performance.  If anyone could think of anything else I might be able to do to get the system stable, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the suggestions.  The CPU FSB is 200, so it's already matched up there.  And we have a ton of fans already.  There are two in the front, 4 inside and 1 on the back.  It's a custom case, 2u high.  The power supply is oversized and more than adequate to provide the required power.  I have four of these units running right now.  Two with 2x512 sticks and two with 1x1024 sticks.  For each combination, the memory clock speed for one is 166 and 200 for the other.  I have been loosening up the memory timings trying to get the system stable, but it still isn't.  If the power supply is good, and I'm unable to cool the system anymore due to limititions within the case, is there anything you can think of to stabilize the system.  Maybe other settings in the BIOS or suggestions on how to go about getting good timings for the memory.  Thanks.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR MB Problems, Need Help ASAP!! PLEASE

Ok  I just got this motherboard (MSI K7N2 Delta) Yesterday and after getting it setup I began overclocking the Processor (an AMD Athlon XP Barton Mobile 2500+) I was at 11x 215 1.750V Perfectly. I moved to 216 it started to seem unstable so I pushed the VCORE up to 1.775 and tried 217. It couldn't boot so I dropped it back down and decided ok 208 and a 11.5 multi might get me past the 2.4 mark which I was looking for. Well when I changed the Multi. to 11.5 and said save the system just sate as the flashing y for save. I could not change it to n I had already pushed enter So i firgured great and left it alone for a few minutes, nothing so I reset it. Now it refuses to boot/post. It spinds the fans the HD's the Network port is going but I get no picture. I have cleared the CMOS using the jumper I have removed the battery and power for over an hour and I still get nothing. I am assuming this is a BIOS error but I am not sure what to do to fix it. Does anyone here kno maybe, something I have yet to try something I can do? I would hate to RMA it and have to wait on newegg. Hell the thing is a day old. So please any idea's are welcome I have this posted on the Hard Forums as well but I am hopinh this forum may be more popular with getting help as no one is helping over there. Thanks!

    Hi,
Cross: Just in case you are doing something wrong there's a clear CMOS guide here, follow it to the letter (and don't forget to put the FSB jumper to SAFE beforehand - there's a note about it in the guide).
    How To Clear the CMOS
Your system board or CPU maybe not be dead yet - I had a similar problem with one of my boards and I tried everything - to cut a long story short I eventually got it working!!!
Btw, If you can't boot or get into the BIOS put your other CPU in (clear BIOS again after fitting!), so that you can prove whether your motherboard is working correctly!
Good luck!   I'm off ta bed!

I installed 6 operating systems on my pc (WinXp Home Edition Turkish/English,WinXP Pro Turkish/English,Win98 Turkish/English) and tested it, but every time i meet the same thing (MS Blue Screen Of Death Sux...).I checked the WinXP`s logs and searched for error code`s meaning from microsoft knowledge database. They are saying nothing about this problem but the problem`s root is coming from a bad device driver. It seems to be a generic problem for all operating systems cuz all of them were restarting themselves randomly, before i close "auto-restart on critical errors" option. After i saw some messages on forums , i searched for my RAM maker`s home page then i learned that my RAM is assembled with VIA KT Series and SIS chips & optimized for them. I think nForce is too picky about rams. But i aint sure about where the hell is this problem coming from. If you guys are sure about that is an unsupported ram problem and knew the list of ram marks&models that supported by MSI K7N2 Delta -L ,please help me about this damn problem. Thanks for your help.
Note : I tried Asus Ati Radeon 9200SE 64mb g.adapter (some peoples told me thats about g.adapter), but problem continued.

If I read correctly in your specs I see only 11 Amps on the +12v Rail. Is this correct?
If so, I'd advise a PSU that has at least 18 amps on the +12v Rail, perhaps as low as 16 with the other rails to match as shown currently in your spec.
11 Amps is just way too underpowered for that rig. I am surprised it even boots.
At what point does the BSOD occur?

i would make sure it has jumpers...check their website
    as some drives need software
    to lower to sata 1
