Overdrive can't see iPod plugged into MacBook via iTunes
I updated iTunes yesterday on my MacBook with Snow Leopard. I accessed my local library, checked out an ebook and downloaded it to my MacBook. Then plugged in my iPod. Overdrive usually sees it so I can transfer the ebook. This time Overdrive couldn't see my iPod. The only thing different is iTunes update. Is there an existing fix? Or am I stuck waiting for Overdrive (or Apple) to get around to fixing it? See some reverted to iTunes 10.7 from 11. Would rather not do that if I can avoid it.
I just posted this morning having the same problem with my G5. It used to work GREAT on the G5 until I updated to Leopard from 10.4.11. My MacBook Pro works great, but is still on 10.4.11.
Very strange!!! The iTouch charges and is seen in the system profiler as being connected, but iTunes doesn't see it.
I'm glad there's someone else with the same problem!!

Macbook Pro 13" Screen went Black - Can only see when plugged into another display! HELP!
My MacBook Pro's screen went black last night and now when it turns on it stays black. I plugged it into my tv through the mini display port and I can see everything fine on the tv but the screen on my laptop is black. Everything else seems to be working fine. Any advice that doesn't involve taking to Genius Bar??? Already tried booting in safe mode, resetting the PRAM and NVRAM. Need to fix this ASAP. Thanks!!
Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

Can't see iPod icon in Windos or Itunes
I just bought a second generation iPod shuffle a month ago. It was working just fine until I burned a disc from a playlist. Now, my computer will not recognize the iPod (there is no icon). I have done everything iPod support has written. My iPod works well with the songs I have downloaded. I don't even see a Source Pane, and when I go to MY Computer, I see Removable Disk, but that's all. I now have other songs I want to add to my iPod, and I can't. What should I do???
Hello Hibbster,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you talking about viewing your iPod's content within iTunes?
If so, click on the small black triangle next to your iPod's name in the left hand pane of iTunes. This should open up a small list underneath with Music, Videos, and such. Go ahead and click on the Music one to view the content currently on your iPod.
Does that do the trick for you?

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs
New cable and different USB port?

iTunes no longer recognizes my iPod nano 5th gen. When plugged into macbook usb it appears as my iPhone. Previously both devices had individual identities. Have reset iPod and turned macbook off/on.
Hello BPeery,
I would go through ALL the steps here:
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
Let us know how it goes.
Hope this helps.

Can't see ipod videos from 60GB ipod classic. I have Apple USB/video cable running through Onkyo receiver into Samsung TV. Video & TV out settings seem correct-I can see album cover, but no video. Is it possible to get itunes music videos to play or do I need to get new ipod. It works on my iPad and iPhone, but not through iPod Classic.
Are these music videos located under Videos on your iPod? Do it play other regular movies (if you have any on the device)?

updated to ios6 on my ipod touch 4g when i try to turn it on it doesn't, it just comes up with the itunes symbol and the usb, so i plugged into laptop opened itunes and it says to restore back to ios5 i pressed restore and it cant connect to server? help?
Maunally restore it. In order to do this:
-Download the iOS 5.1.1 firmware from here http://www.redmondpie.com/download-5.1.1-ios-for-iphone-4s-4-3gs-ipad-ipod-touch -direct-official-links/
1. After downloading the firmware from the given link, open iTunes and click on your device.
2. Now press SHIFT on your keyboard and while pressing it click on "Restore".
3. A dialog box will appear.
4. Select the firmware you downloaded and click ok.
5. Done!!! Your iPhone will now be restored to 5.1.1 and if you had backed up your iPod before, then you can put all its settings afterwards. -
iPhone 4, stopped 6.0 upgrade in the middle of install, and now I just get the blinking apple. Can't even get it to restore or recognize my phone when I plug into the computer/itunes....
Did you try to connect in recovery mode? iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears.

I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had it set up so that I manually sync and manage my music. Twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it had erased everything on my ipod. All the music on my itunes was still in my library, but all the other music was lost. I understand that I need to go back to the other libraries I got that music from, but how do I make sure that my ipod doesn't keep syncing and erasing itself? Also, now every five minutes a message will pop up on my itunes saying that it cannot sync because of an unknown error and then it has the number 13014. I have no idea what that is about. Does anyone else go through this? How do I fix it?
Well the iPod is supposed to be synced from YOUR iTunes music library, if you used other means to put music on there then the iPod is going to sync to only what's on your itunes music library when you connect it.
You need to put the files into itunes.
Far as your other issues, sounds like the drive is dying.

I can't see ipod on the itunes library page anymore. how do i transfer music from the hard drive to my ipod now?
Click on the button for the iPod on the iTunes header bar, e.g.:
or go to the View menu and select "Show Sidebar" after which iTunes 11 will look much as earlier versions did. From there the process is exactly the same.
