Overheating issue with 4870 crossfirex setup / i7 platform

hi there

my vga cards are very hot idle & load

Temps monitoring by GPUZ,Everst,ATI ccc
the down side of x58 pro-e in trems of crossfire is the 16x pci-e slots are vrey close one to each other thus the upper card is about 2mm close to the second one and it sounds like it sucks the hot air caused by the other card . plus the board itself idle at 56c(system temp) , IOH 86c idle 98c load
so my problem is the overheating
please , advise

so what's the difference in temp when you swap them compared to before swapping?
ok..
VGA 1 :
Idle:
Gpu temperature 67c
DispIO temperature 69c
MemIO temperature 86c
Shadercore temperature 72c
fan 54%
load:
Gpu temperature 82c
DispIO temperature 78c
MemIO temperature 108c
Shadercore temperature 86c
fan 100%
VGA 2 :
ran cooler than vga1 by 5 degrees at idle
and by 20 degrees at load
That's the temps after swapping
Before swapping vga1 was cooler than itself by 5~6 degrees and vga2 was warmer than itself by 3 degrees thus the swapping didn't help..
i'm very confused about MemIO temperatures , it's much high idle & load

  • Vertex install issues with 46C - RFC setup?

    Dear Fellow SAPoniSeries'ers,
    We have installed the Vertex Q Series tax software with our SAP 46c implementation and we are having issues with the Remote Function Call (RFC) setup. We know that Vertex and SAP programs need to have the same "signatures" for the LIBRFC service program, and when we finally figured that out, but now we get the following message for the VERRFC but the RFCTEST works ok;
"time out during allocate /CPI-C error CM_PRODUCT_SPECIFIC_ERROR"
It appears that the RFC is trying to run as it does not immediately fail. VERRFC and RFCTEST are both now bound to VERQSU/LIBRFC service program.
We have upgraded to the ASCII database format, we are running OS/400 V5R3 and the Vertex software is Translink 2.0.22.
I would GREATLY appreciate any advice or lessons learned.
    THANK-YOU!
    Tim Murphy
    Nalge Nunc International
    Rochester, NY USA

Tim, I don't recall just how we fixed this, but we had the same isses.  Here is a cut/paste from an email I have from Vertex...this is a bit old, but may give some insight:
In the past, we have encountered issues when customers upgraded their SAP
Kernel on the AS400 (ex: going from LIBRFC 44 to LIBRFC 48)with a different
version of the SAP service program. For convenience  Vertex started
providing a backup LIBRFC file in the event a problem was encountered that
caused calls to Translink (VERRFC) to fail because of incompatible or
unmatched signatures in a newer release of SAP's LIBRFC.
We have also encountered similar issues when upgrading Translink, as you
became aware when you applied your recent Vertex 3.0 & 3.1 upgrades.
Because we need to be compatible with various releases of R/3, we provide a
renamed copy of SAP's LIBRFC that we used at time of binding. This file is
    LIBRFCBCK.
In the event of a signature violation, the Vertex LIBRFCBCK can be renamed
in-place to LIBRFC and Translink will find this version of the Service
Program first. Translink (VERRFC) will always look locally for the file. If
not found, it will find the one SAP provides in the SAP instance and
    attempt to use it.
Volker, we use Vertex, issues with ASCII, ECC6.0?

  • Issue with iPhone 4 setup/restore

I had an iPhone4 which was replaced by a new iPhone 4, due to an issue with the proximity sensor.
    Hardware details:
My Macbook Pro to which the iPhone is synced to has the latest version of iTunes, the old phone was running iOS 4.3, while the new one had iOS 4.2.
I tried to do a restore (setup) on new iPhone, but I kept getting an error. I then checked iOS on new phone and realized it was running 4.2. After which I updated it to 4.3. This still didn't fix my problem with restore, as they were still failing. So I set it up as a new phone. Assuming all my data would be safe and I could then copy to my new iPhone.
When setup was complete I saw that my address book and photos (which came from my original iPhone) were all gone from my laptop. After searching everywhere, I found a file that appears to be my iPhone data backup, in the trash bin. I assume it contains all my data from the old phone.
My question is, am I correct in that, this is my cell phone backup data file and if so can it be retrieved?
    Thanks in advance.

  • NEW MBP: any overheating issues with the newest MBP?

I'd like to know if anyone experienced any overheating problems with the newest models? Plus, are they really all warped?? I wanna go for the 15-inch one...

My MBP, received a week ago, got loco on me once and really started heating up with the fans going full-blast, but it turned out to be Spotlight happily trying to index a very large external firewire drive with an extensive photo collection. Once I disabled indexing on that volume, things returned to and have remained normal ever since. For ventilation purposes, you need to leave the area around the keyboard and around the display hinge free, since that is where the fans push the air in and out thru the machine.
That's also why the jury is still out, regarding using a MBP for intensive applications in a closed-lid, external KVM configuration.

    Hi,
When you are using Full Tunnel VPN (which is the default setting) you will have a couple of things that you need to configure on the ASA.
First, the ASA by default won't allow traffic to enter through an interface and then leave through that same interface. This is what essentially happens when the traffic from the VPN Client comes to the ASA and then heads out to the Internet.  In your case the traffic comes through the "outside" and leaves through the "outside" interface.
    You will need this command
    same-security-traffic permit intra-interface
You can check if its enabled at the moment with the command
    show run same-security-traffic
Second, the VPN users will need to have NAT configuration just like any LAN users behind the actual ASA. So you will essentially have to configure Dynamic PAT for traffic from "outside" to "outside"
You can accomplish that with the following configuration
    object network VPN-PAT
    subnet 10.4.1.0 255.255.255.240
    nat (outside,outside) dynamic interface
I would imagine that this should do it for you to be able to connect to the Internet and to the LAN network when the VPN is active.
    Hope this helps
Let me know how it goes.

    Hi.
Can you verify that the size of the file you downloaded is 90,941,843? Also post the checksum of the file. What version of Solaris are you installing on? Most folks having this problem
    have a corrupted bin file.
    Thanks,

  • Are their still overheating issues with bootcamp running windows 7?

I am wanting to do a little gaming on my mac, but saw plenty of forums pre 2010 about Macs overheating when running windows 7 and even XP. I have a Mid 2012 macbook pro with Intel HD 4000 and a 2.5 Ghz I5 processor, I was wondering if there has been any updates to macs or bootcamp that quells the overheating, and would my mac still be susceptible to this problem?

No changes because the problem is there is no fan control software for Windows that works with the Mac hardware.

  • Fan/overheating issue with my macbook

Hi all. My MacBook is shutting off from overheating. The fan is not currently working, but sometimes it does, though if the MacBook is moved or tilted it tends to disable it. I am running smcFanControl and it says 0 rpm's. The normal temp now is between 185-210 degrees F. At around 220, when streaming video, playing a DVD, or watching a movie it shuts off. I called apple a few weeks ago about the problem and their solution was to ship it to Texas. Their box has still not yet arrived. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

    jlkst87 wrote:
"Back up your data now" Done regularly.
"use your MacBook as little as possible" Not helpful. So I should just put it on the shelf unless I need the calculator or the currency converter?
"If you know your Mac is just going to overheat and shut down if you do certain things, stop doing those things!" I bought a MacBook in order to do those things.
Thanks for the time you took to try to answer my questions.
The problem is, though, your fan is faulty, so your processor will overheat when you try to do processor intensive things such as watching movies. The computer is designed to shut down in the event it overheats, to protect it from serious damage. Based on the information you gave, the computer is behaving as it should.
Apple wants you to ship your machine to Texas for repairs; if the box has not yet arrived and you think it's taking longer than it should, contact Apple to find out what the situation is.
In the mean time, you should keep the usage of the computer light, or you will overheat the processor and cause the machine to shut down. So, yes, that means no games, video, etc. There's nothing you can do about this short of having the issue repaired. If you keep overheating the processor you may run the risk of doing serious permanent damage to your computer.

  • Overheating issues with Equium A60

    Hi,
My laptop keeps turning off randomly, which after reading several posts on this forum are down to dust so I'm going to be clearing that later.
My major worry is that the vga + parallel ports are very hot to the touch. The USB, ethernet, modem, svideo ports are fine. Is this an effect of the dust inside or is it a different internal problem?
I did have my laptop taken away to be looked at after Christmas by PCWorld (its covered under their PC Performance Pay As You Go service) due to the laptop not taking charge, and it was found the power supply was faulty so have a new one at the moment.

    Hi
These ports are near the DC in jack.
You have suggested that you have got the new AC adapter because the first one was dead.
Did you use the Toshiba recommend one with the same properties?
The original one supports power 120W Input 100~240V 50/60Hz (Universal) Output 19V x 6.3A. Check this and use the Toshiba recommended one because other AC adapters can damage the notebook!

  • IMac 27" (Late 2012) Loud Fan and Overheating Issues, causing Hard Drive Failure

    Hi all,
I'm having some serious overheating issues with my new iMac. Any help to help me solve this problem would be gladly appreciated since it's really beginning to bug me. Here's what's has happened:
I noticed in the first few hours of switching the iMac on that there was a short burst of very loud fan noise. This has been happening about once every two days since and every time I haven't been doing any heavy processing with the system. I've noticed that the main fan will spin, on average, at 1200rpm. Is that normal? The iMac is very well ventilated and sits right next to a window...
I have also boot camped the iMac with a copy of Windows 8 so I could run some fairly power-hungry games. I intentionally purchased a high end iMac (27" display, Intel Core i7 3.4GHz, Nvidia GeForce 680MX Graphics, 1TB Fusion drive) and expected the iMac to run games flawlessly. However, after a few days, I noticed that the CPU and GPU had shot up to a worrying 80°C whenever I ran power-hungry games, with a very loud hissing noise from the fan. After running games for about 10 minutes, the fan will stop hissing, causing the GPU and CPU to increase to 100°C. The iMac then fails and switches off unexpectedly without any warning. After analysing the Windows event logs, I received an event ID 41: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
As this occurred about six times whilst I was testing my iMac's performance, I think my hard drive has now begun to fail - sometimes I will hear the hard drive make a click noise, about once every 5 seconds. Sometimes, the clicking noise causes OS X and Windows to run very slowly (even though minimal RAM is being used and nothing too intensive (Safari, Mail etc.) is being processed). Running Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions under OS X's recovery mode as well as a repair in chkdsk in Windows suggests that there were no problems with the hard drive. All I can do is wait a while for the clicking noise to stop, and then performance will increase. I have backed up everything externally.
I have also performed a reset of the SMC as well as the PRAM, which hasn't really helped.
Any help will be appreciated. I will gladly provide any extra logs etc. if they're needed.
    Thanks so much,
    Alex.

That's the default fan speed on iMacs, so there isn't any problem with this.

You must know that Boot Camp isn't compatible with Windows 8 and that Apple hasn't released drivers for Windows 8, so it can fail. Install Windows 7 inmediately until Apple launches updated drivers.
As it looks like the hard disk is damaged, I would take the Mac to an Apple Store. It's in warranty, so it should be repaired for free or you should receive a new one

    Hi,
I have a testing scenario that seems no to work and I don't find eny clue.
On switch 3800-B I have configured this two ports. To the port  0/8 I have connected a host with IP address and MAC f0f7.55cf.6201.

Then I connect the interface 0/7 of this switch to the switch 3800-A to port 0/8. Port is configured as follows.
      bridge-domain 15 interface GigabitEthernet0/8
    switchport trunk allowed vlan none
    switchport mode trunk
    service instance 1 ethernet
      encapsulation dot1q 1-4094 second-dot1q 1-4094

The connectivity is going further, but issue is happening here.
I see MAC adress of the host on the 3800-B Gi0/8,

but I do not see this MAC at the port and service instance on the switch 3800-A ??
Do I have missed something or there is any issue with double tagging on this platform ?
I appreciate quick response and thanks for any hint.

    Hi Waris,
the whole configuration consists of some other links and connections, so I might have had a loop somewhere. I completelly changed the design and it works.

  • Video Card overheating issue

I'm having issues with my intel based iMac. Whenever I play World of Warcraft, I am having overheating issues with my video card. I get weird graphical errata, slowdown, freezing, and system crashes because of it. I have tried capping the fps through console command, downloaded an application to raise the minimum RPMs on my fans, and set up a boxfan behind my iMac.
Where are the air-intakes on the 24" iMac? I would like to try using a can of compressed air, in case it is clogged by dust or lint.
What further steps can I take if that doesn't work? If I take it to my nearest AASP, can it still be repaired under warranty, assuming it's a hardware issue?
intel iMac 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   2.16 GHz intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 667MHz Bus Speed, 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Run the hardware test that came with your machine:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303081
If nothing is detected, it is likely your problem is the RAM.
If something is detected, take it to the AASP and have them repair what is detected.
If the program you are using is PowerPC based, upgrade it to an Intel based program. That may solve the problem.

  • Found Permanent Solution to Overheating issues.

Alright this is the part where some of you are going to be happy with me and some of you are going to be upset. That's because I know how to solve overheating issues with xp, and with macbookpro using the Geforce 9400M, and the Geforce 9600M GT. This solution very well could work for other systems, if you find the right drivers. but here it goes.
Alright, I have obtained nvidia drivers that will efficiently replace your current ones and stop the both cards from running simultaneously. I have read that this is the problem, though I don't know if that's really what's going on, because obviously, we can all run high end gfx games on our mac os, and not get to the critical point of our laptops shutting down, but on Bootcamp we all seem to have this issue and I haven't found a single solution that really helps.
Ok lets start off, everyone, use your fan control programs, wether SMC or input remapper, doesn't matter to me, personally, I use SMC and deal with the restarting os all the time to keep my fans running at max speed, 6000rpm.
Now comes the solution, type this into google. "185.85notebook_winxp_32bitwhql" and I'm assuming though i don't know, that they have this for other than xp users. Download this driver from the very first site that comes up.
And then proceed to uninstall your nvidia drivers for windows. Select "Remove Only the Following", and check both SMU DRIVER, and PCI SYSTEM MANAGEMENT, but for the sake of keeping your internet, leave the ethernet driver. Uninstall.
Install your new nvidia drivers, and it should show up in your Add/Remove programs as being around 1gb of drivers. You should notice when you start your bootcamp your computer is complaining about new hardware thats not installed. Well yes, we're still using the gfx card, but without the extra drivers that apparently promote this overheating and instability.
If you are having trouble, let me know I'd be happy to help you out, at any stage. Try this out, Worst case scenario, you have to put your disc back in and reinstall your drivers. Oh yes, And i'm using the newest disc out from Snow leopard. I don't know if the drivers are any different.
Note Your computer will still heat up, it just doesn't reach the point during gaming that it needs to shut off to save your processor. Please let me know if this works for anyone else. I suffered this problem, of shutting down after an hour or two of play for weeks until I discovered that this solution worked for me.

    Sounds like a damaged database.
There are reports on here from people with all sorts of issues. That's what the forum is for. It proves nothing except that people have all sorts of issues.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
