Overlapping Graphs in Crystal Report

We have a requirement of designing a drilldown for which we have used Group charts in Crystal report. Our requirement is to plot graphs on 2 different summary fields on the same level i.e we require that on change of Zone, graph should be shown for Average of MTBF and MTTR values in that zone. We are using Crystal Report 2008. There is a limitation in crystal that only one summary field can be shown in a single group chart, so we hade created 2 different charts for MTBF and MTTR and overlapped one on the other and made the graph at front as transperent. MTBF is a bar chart and MMTR is a line chart.
It works fine when we do a preview in crystal report, the top graph is transperent and we can see both the graphs.
But when we are viewing the graph through Infoview, the top graph is no more transperent and we cannot view the 2nd graph that is at bottom.
Can anyone help in solving the problem or is their any workaround to display 2 summary fields in one graph in group chart.
Appriciate any immediate help, we are in a critical stage and need to solve the problem ASAP.
Thanks in advance
Suchi...

Thanks for the promt reply.
We are not exporting the report, We are directly vieweing it in info view.
I have very little idea about infoview. Can you please let us know how we can change the setting for infoview and who can do this. We just have access to Crystal report and the Business View manager to create and use the prompt group and save our rpt file so that we can view it through infoview.

  • Overlapping text in Crystal Report

I am working with Crystal Report 2012. I am suppose to create a Crystal Report which may be exported to pdf . It has certain fields with "Can Grow" property. As a result of all this I am facing overlapping text issues due increase in the text length , I don't want to limit the length of text fields. I require an urgent help to deal with this issues.
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi Dell,
Is this the thing you wanted me to do :
If yes then I did this but I lost the contents of the Group Footer #6b.
Before applying , in-circled are the overlapping text which are possibly lost after the application
    Before:
After applying these fields are missing
    After:
According to me this might occur due to " Group by " which is removed afterwards.
    Waiting for your reply.

  • Problem viewing graph in Crystal reports using VB6

I have a report created in Crystal RDC Version 9 and it has a pie chart. The chart comes out fine in
Crystal but when I view it using Report-viewer OCX embedded in a VB6 application there are blank spaces
where the graph ought to be. Database used is SQL Server.
Does anyone know how to get past this problem?
Are there any specific dll files I need to download to be able to view the graphs ?

Post moved to the Legacy SDKs - SAP Crystal Reports forum.
First a sort of a 'preamble" / FYI, then an attempt at some help
CR 9, being out of support for close to 10 years, it will be tough to get any help on this. My best suggestion would be to upgrade to CR 2008 and .NET (2005 or 2008) and use the CR SDK for .NET. Or use VS 2010 with Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010. E.g.; unfortunately, time to move to more recent builds of CR and development language.
BTW., the SDK you are using in CR 9 has been retired in CR XI R2 (11.5) which has been out of support since June 2009. E.g.; if this turns out to be a bug of some sort, no fixes...
    The help (finally)
You say the following which is a bit confusing:
Crystal RDC Version 9 and it has a pie chart. The chart comes out fine in
Crystal but when I view it using Report-viewer OCX embedded
Not sure what you mean by "Report-viewer OCX embedded". The RDC SDK consists of essentially two files; craxdrt.dll and crviewer.dll. Craxdrt.dll is the engine, crviewer.dll is the viewer. Those should really be the only two CR references in your project. Assuming that this is the case, is the behavior you are describing on your development computer, or after you deploy the CR runtime? How did you deploy the CR runtime? Does the app work as expected anywhere?

My X-axis has date and y-axis has data.
I want to display all the dates on x-Axis which is selected by the user.
E.g.  User has selected fromDate and ToDate as 1st Aug to 10th Aug and I have Data as follows
    08/01/2008 abc

I want my Graph to show all the dates from 1stAug to 10thAug on x-axis and it should not only show  data where it is but also a blank where data is not present
    Please help. Thank you.

    Hi Tenzin
Following are the steps from where you can change the division of the axes:
    Right click on the report.
Go to 'Chart Expert' -> 'Axes' tab.
Select the Manual option under 'Number of divisions'.
Change the settings so that you can get each date on the axis.
    Hope this helps you.
Please let us know if you have any further queries.

I am not really familiar with all of the options for charting and what is or isnt in the bundled version.
You can download the CR XI R2 developer edition eval from the website and see if it gives you the graph options that you want.  If it does then I think you can buy it at an upgrade price since you already have the bundled edition.

  • Formatted Data Losing its Value Upon Entering Crystal Reports

    Post Author: Horizon57
    CA Forum: General
I am having an issue where I have tables of data in Access with the correct formatting (i.e. $, %, etc.) and when I create a table or graph in Crystal Reports, the formatting does not show up. Something that is 46.78% in Access, shows up in the following format (0.47) and dollar signs ($$) do not even show up. I am sure its not just a display issue with the data, because when I right click on a field in the field explorer and select the "Browse Data" option, the formatting is also missing in the same way that it is missing once that data is brought onto the report itself.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix this issue? I would like to avoid having to apply specific formatting to each field in each subreport using Crystal Reports (That could take hours!)
    Thanks

I have sometimes also reproduced this behaviour without waiting these 3 minutes (more or less immediately).
In addition, after reproducing this behaviour, the fileds becomes read only and you can not write any more data in it. ¿?

  • Display only graph in the Crystal report viewer

    Background:
We used Crystal Reports ver10 to display various graphs in our ASP.Net 2.0 Web Application (Visual Studio 2005)
We recently migrated our application to .NET 4.5 and Crystal Reports ver13 (Visual Studio 2012)
    Issue:
Now, the Crystal Report Viewer control loads the graph inside an <IFRAME> which shows the whole page with the graph placed on the right bottom corner instead of just the graph image as it used to previously.
I have checked various properties that hides the tree and the toolbar and I am unable to get rid of the whole page.
    Query:
Is there a way to not display the page and display only the image that contains the graph? OR
Is there a way to not render the whole <iframe> and just display the graph image inside a <div> as it used to happen before?

Hi Ludek, thanks for your response. Please refer the screenshots below.
    1) CR ver10 - the graph <img> is simply enclosed inside a div
    2) CR ver13 - the graph <img> is enclosed inside an <iframe>'s body - you can also see the scroll bars and "white-page-background" and "grey space" which I am hoping to hide or disable
    3) We are using the same set of CRViewer properties in both cases:
    - DisplayGroupTree = False
    - DisplayToolbar = False
    - HasDrillUpButton = Flase
    - HasRefreshButton = False
    - HasToggleGroupTreeButton = Fasle
    - HasViewList = False
    - HasZoomFactorList = False
    - EnableViewState = True
    4) Here's a screenshot of of the .rpt file opened in the VS 2012:
We only want to render the graph image on the UI and not the whole page. Is there a property setting that will help us achive this or should we define explicit CSS styles to hide those areas?
Thank you for looking into this!

  • Crystal reports graph sort order

I have 2 fields called fiscal year and fiscal month.
Expected sort order - sample values:
    Fiscal year     Fiscal Month
    2011     5
    2011     5
    2011     6
    2011     7
    2011     8
    2011     9
    2011     10
    2011     11
    2011     12
    2012     1
    2012     2
    2012     3
    2012     4
    2012     5
    2012     5
Current sort order- shows up incorrectly by default
    Fiscal Year  Fiscal Month
    2011          10
    2011          5
    2011          6
    2012         12
I will be using these values in a graph and I created a new formula column called time PEriod that I will be in the
x axis of my graph (mid({query.fiscal_mth_nbr1},1,3)) . the output of this formula is Oct,Nov, Dec,Jan,....Oct
Without the year, but it still needs to be sorted in the first sample values order , since fiscal year starts in Jun and ends
in July. We are now in fiscal year 2012 , fiscal month 6
I tried sorting the value inside crystal reports by going to design view and applying sort. But it does not take the
sort order. Can you please suggest the best way to keep the sort order. The data is coming from a universe and I even tried
to sort the data from the universe by using order by, but the database would not let me use order by  that in a derived table within the universe.
    Edited by: developerbo1 on Nov 14, 2011 7:19 PM

    hello,
the best way to get the correct dynamic sort is by using a two digit month in your conversion. for example
    totext({table.datefield}, 'yyyyMM')

  • Crystal report -How to display multiple lines in line chart?

    Hi,
M struggling to display multiple lines in line chart. All the values m fetching it from database into data table in below format & data type
    Category(String).....year(Int).....graph_values(Int).....table_value(String)
    Test.........................2006.......... -100............................(100)
    Avg..........................2006..........20................................20
    Median......................2006...........5................................5
    Test..........................2007...........500.............................500
    Avg...........................2007............90..............................90
    Median.......................2007............45..............................45
M using cross tab to display data and chart to plot line. Following fields I used in Cross tab Expert & Chart expert
    Cross tab expert-
    Rows u2013 category
    Columns u2013 year
Summarized fields u2013 Min of table_value
    In Chart Expert u2013
    On Change of - Year
    Show values - graph values
In cross tab m able to see the data properly but not in graph.I have three categories. Hence it should plot three lines in line chart but m able to see only one line for test category.
FYI u2013 using VS 2008 and crystal report assembly version 10.5
    Urgent. Please reply soon.
    Thanks

    I got the solution.
In Chart Expert - I should use
On Change of -- Year, Category
    Show values -- graph values

  • Xcelsius - Crystal Report Data Consumer connection Issues

Sorry for the long post but i hope with the full explaination, i can get a quick answer & solution.
Using Crystal Reports 2008 and Xcelsius 2008 Engage, SQL 2008 stored procedure.
I have tested the Crystal Reports Data Consumer connection within the Xcelsius program, using the following steps :
    1. Create a stored procedure that returns the Continent Name and the Count of Projects within each Continent.
    2. Create a Crystal Report using the stored procedure, 2 columns in the Details section, column names in the Page Header section.
    3. Save and export this as an Excel spreadsheet.
    4. Open the Xcelsius program, new file and import spreadsheet. Column A is the Continent Name, Column B is the Count.
    5. Without altering the spreadsheet, I created a graph using the data imbedded. i.Bar Graph, series and row selections. Ii. Pie chart with row data selection. Iii.Column data as series and row selections.
    6. Created a Crystal Report Data Consumer connection using the data imbedded within then spreadsheet. The column A as the u201CRow Headersu201D & column B as the u201CDatau201D. Took quite a while to get the right combination of selected components so that the preview actually showed the data and the corresponding data labels. The Legend still hasnu2019t shown up.
    7. Save and Export as Flash (swf) file.
    8. Close Xcelsius and open Crystal Reports.
    9. Open the same report used to create the spreadsheet and Insert -> Flash, choosing the newly created swf file.
    10. Link the data displayed On the Crystal Report to the Flash file now embedded, using the Flash Expert. Have tried both with the data listed on the Report, and the data listed as the result of the stored procedure.
    11. Previewed and the Data shown on the Graph does match the data listed within the Details section of the Report.
    12. I then altered the stored procedure to add u201C1u201D to all counts, and refreshed the Crystal Report. (I cannot add new data to the underlying database/tables, due to various other folks & projects using that same database.)
    13. The listed data does change to match the changes within the procedure.
    14. The Data labels on the Graph do change to match the changes within the procedure.
    15. The Actual Displayed Data within the Graph Does Not change to match the changes within the procedure.
I have attempted this with a pie chart, a bar and column charts with the same affect.
I have searched the web, printed out 4 different examples on how to make this work and still it is hit or miss. I still can not get the legend to show up, either in the preview or the within the Crystal Reports. When I preview the graph before adding the Crystal Report Data Consumer connections, it does work.
Please someone tell me, What am I missing here ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • SAP Crystal Report (2008) through SQL Query parameters

    Hi,
I Created a report in Crystal report (2008) based on Sql Query. I created parameters in SQL query prompt only (all single valued).
Based on this I need to show the data in detail section.
For Graph, I used another SQL query, and added one subreport to the Main report header section. Since this subreport is also using the SQL query prompts for taking parameters.
Since both the reports are using same set of parameters. I mapped Main report parameters to sub-report parameters.
    So Now structure is like,
In a report there is one subreport.
Main report ....SQL query generates parameter prompt..same parameters is passed to subreport.
In subreport there are sql generated prompts. and we mapped that prompts to main report parameter prompts.
Now it is running fine from crystal report, but not from CMC. It is not showing the graph.
    Made Two Experiment:
    1. To check subreport is running or not , Mannualy put my name in sub report--working fine.(CMC)
    2. To check the parameters are correctly mapped--printed the value in subreport--Showing all the parameters value from CMC
but it is not running the SQL query of that sub report.
Any suggestion ?? Or is there anyoption to check?? Or a CMC setting.
    Please suggest and respond..
    Thank you in advance.!!

    Hi Rajeev,
This is Crystal reports development community, you said the report is working fine in Crystal. it is problem in CMC. So the issue is at BI Server.
So i think you need to create the thread in the below community.

  • Generated Crystal Report PDFs are different on Windows server

    Post Author: present
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hi,
I created Crystal Report template (with two columns on one
page) inside VS 2005 on my Windows XP Professional machine.
But there are formating problems on both XP and Windows
    Server machines:
    1) On Windows XP machine, I have to overlap the two columns
on the page inside VS 2005 editor in order to generate
correct PDF file (without overlap). How to fix the the
    overlapping problem in editor?
    2) On Windows 2003 server: After I put the template on
Windows 2003 server that has no VS 2005 installed (only
CRRedist2005_x86.msi was installed), the generated PDF has
different font size and layout (such as page size, column
    overlap, etc).
Do I have to install VS 2005 on server too? It is really
frustrating that I have to print document generated on the
server before I know if the template works fine or not.
    Any help is highly appreciated!

Typically when you are seeing page formatting issues on different machines, it could be because of printer drivers (or lack of).  The reporting engine relies on the printer driver configured on the machine to provide information so that a page can be properly rendered.  If you designed the report on your dev machine which is using PrinterA and then deploy to another machine using PrinterB, the formatting could be off.  So make sure that the exact same printer driver is being used on these machines.  If your deployments are expected to go to different machines where you don't know what printer will be installed, then you will need to design the report such that it can be rendered as best as possible.  Another option is to check the "No Printer" option and this should render the report the same on any machine with any printer, but then you'll need to make sure you handle any scenarios where the user wants to print to the printer.
If this is an ASP.NET application then permissions could play a part if the printer drivers cannot be accessed.  There are whitepapers on the BOBJ support site that have information on to configure CR to print reports in ASP.NET apps.
