Overlapping iViews

Hi All,
I have recently created an iview containing a dropdown box in WD ABAP. I have created an iview for this and placed it below the toolarea in Enterprise portals. I have a minor issue here.
The iview is just large enough to display the dropdown. (This is what i want. )
But, when i expand the dropdown menu, the list is just displayed within the iview and doesnt show more than one value. I want to display the dropdown list beyond the custom iview.
Is this possible?
I had a look at the sdn site and found the languages and My Profile links at the top are something similar to the functionality that i am looking for.
Any help would be appreciated.

there is a property for the iview....called height type....you might want to change this to automatic...this might help...

Hover Menu hiding behind the iview

Hi All,
I have implemented a Hover Menu for TLN in my portal.
the problem I am facing is that the Hover Menu hides behind,or is overlapped by the Flex Iview ,which is displayed in the portal content area.
This is undesirable,as the user then cant navigate in the hover menu.
The isolation property for the hover menu is embedded,while for the Flex Iview it is URL.These properties cant be changed.
Can anyone suggest how to overcome the problem without changing these properties.

Use IFRAMES for External Content
This version of the tabbed UI looks and acts very much as if an <iframe> were embedded on the page. In fact, if you need to use external content for the panel contents, an <iframe> is extremely easy to implement. Just swap out the <div> elements with <iframe> elements, add a src attribute, and modify the tab text:
The extra <div> element in the preceding code that appears just after the <body> element displays while the browser fetches the external content. That way, users see something during the load process, which is usually a good idea, because users should know that the browser is working for them. Adding the extra <div> won't make the page load any faster but it will increase the user's perception of speed.
There are some obvious benefits of implementing a tabbed interface in this manner. Tabs let users navigate between content more easily than switching pages. Because tabs are relatively easy to implement, development time is short. Also, if you're using internal content, the pages load quickly. Switching from internal to external content is painlessjust change the panel <div> tags to <iframe> tags. Finally, the tabs provide state for the user and are visible at all times.

Can not view ABC iView on tablet

I am unable to get ABC iView to work on a 10 inch tablet with Android 4. iView works perfectly with the 'Dolphin' browser but I only get a blank screen after iView says to "Tap here to activate plugin".

I have tried that and now I just get a blank screen instead of the "Tap here to activate plugin" message. I have also tried disabling plugins and then get ABC's opening screen with the warning "Your browser does not seem to be supported. iView requires Adobe Flash Player 10 and Javascript to be enabled". There are no such add-ons for android in the Mobile Add-ons page.
I was assuming they are built in to the Android version of FireFox because many web sites require them.

Open iView in new WINDOW for CATW

HI All,
We are on Netweaver2004s and the browser used is either Internet Explorer 7 (Microsoft Vista) or Mozilla Firefox.
Now what I need help on is that I have a link on my page that says "Report Your Time", this link calls the Internet Service CATW via the ITS from my R/3 and opens the TIMESHEET (which is an iView) to be filled in by the user <b>in a new window</b>.
On this TIMESHEET I have a link called as "EXIT" , now after the timesheet is filled and saved, the user should use this "EXIT" link to leave the window. The code behind "EXIT" is so written by SAP that it kills the user's session. But not always and all user's use this "EXIT" link, they generally close the window by browser's (X) close button. This causes the user to get locked in the backend.
So far I have been able to trap the browser's (X) close button and kill the session by using "setOKCode('/nex')". This works fine in I.E 6 (which has no tabs) and if the user <b>closes</b> Mozilla Firefox from the top (X) close button of the browser.
BUT, in I.E 7 and mozilla firefox, when the user clicks on "<u>Report Your Time</u>" link on my page, a new tab opens and the TIMESHEET is displayed on this tab within the same browser window, so after filling and saving the timesheet when the user closes the (TIMESHEET) <b>tab</b>, the session does not get killed and the user gets locked in the backend. Here, <b>if</b> the user had closed the entire browser window by using the the top (X) close button of the browser, instead of just closing the <b>tab</b> containing the TIMESHEET, then his session would have been killed by my code.
This is the code that identifies if the user has clicked on top (X) close button of the browser. <b>But this code does not identify if a browser's tab is closed.</b>

In the above I check clientY property of the event object, which is used to set or retrieve the y-coordinate of the mouse pointer's position relative to the client area of the window, excluding window decorations and scroll bars.
Is there a way to capture the closing of a browser's tab. A way by which I can trap the event raised when the browser window's tab is closed.
This has to be done via "Java Script" since the code will be placed in the HTML template in SE80.

You could set "fullscreen=yes" (without quotes) for the property called "Window Features" (technical name: "com.sapportals.portal.navigation.WinFeatures") on the navigation element in question (iView or, if existent, surrounding page). Take care, this opens the window without frame and toolbar (closable by ALT-F4).
To get a 100% screen (with toolbar, frame etc), you have to calculate the clients resolution before, using JS for example. So you would need to build a workaround, for example an iView with no output but opening a new window with a certain NavURL as target.

How can I use ONE Text search iView to event/affect mutliple Result Sets?

hello everyone,
i have a special situation in which i have 6 flat tables in my repository which all have a common field called Location ID (which is a lookup flat to the Locations table).
i am trying to build a page with a free-form text search iView on Table #1 (search field = Location ID). when I execute the search, the result set for Table #1 is properly updated, but how do I also get Result Set iViews for Tables #2-6 to also react to the event from Text Search for Table #1 so that they are updated?
i don't want to have to build 6 different text search iViews (one for each table). i just want to use ONE text search iView for all the different result set tables. but, in the documentation and iView properties, the text search iView doesn't have any eventing.

that should not be a problem, since you are detailw with result sets and detail iviews because custom eventing can be defined for those iviews.
Yes, it says "no records" found because an active search and record selection havent' been performed for it (only your main table does).
So, yes, define a custom event, and pass the appropriate parameters and you should be fine.
Creating a custom event between a Result Set iView and an Item Details iView is easy and works. I have done it.
See page 35 of the Portal Content Development Guide for a step-by-step example, which is what I used.
For my particular situation, the problem I'm having is that I want the Search Text iView's event (i.e., when the Submit button is pressed) to be published to multiple iViews, all with different tables. Those tables all share some common fields, which is what the Search iView has, so I'd like to pass the search critera to all of the iViews.

How can I fix left pane text overlap in iCal Day view?

In "Day" view, the items in the left hand (list) pane in iCal are overlapping, obscuring the bottom 1/3 of each line of text. It is as if the table cells are too close together vertically. How do I fix this?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

Error while accessing a BI iView from the federated portal to the BI portal

Hi,
We got an issue when we execute BI report from our federated SAP Portal.
The user can navigate into the portal, but when he executes an BI iView, sometime he gets the following error message:
"500 Internal Server Error
blabla...
Root Cause
The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:
BEx Web application "xxxxx" does not exist. The application was either ended by a timeout or an error occurred, which was entered into the trace log. See SAP Notes 937697 and 948490"
He can then refresh the page and execute the report again, and it will works.

Iview are created on the Federated Portal and consume BI web template.
I don't think about a timeout issue, since sometime we got the selection screen and once we click on a button (after some seconds) we got the error.
Any ideas ?

Please could you remove the proxy setting and check whether it will give you same error or not.
Even we have faced the similar similar issue and once we have removed the proxy setting and cross checked it , it worked fine and later we came to know that the problem is in network proxy setting application.Check with the net working team for the same.

BW Workbook as an iView in the Enterprise Portal

I keeping getting a dialog box asking to select the appropriate program to open the workbook. When I select .xls it opens, and it shows the parameters I entered and not the workbook. The customer is on NW04 Stack 11.
I followed ever step on help.sap.com site as listed below.
BW workbooks are MS Excel workbooks with one or more embedded BW queries. You are able to display these workbooks in the Enterprise Portal as iViews.
Features
Workbooks are displayed in a separate MS Excel window. Opening workbooks within the Web browser window is not possible for technical reasons.
BW workbooks require the BEx Analyzer, which requires a local installation of the SAP GUI for Windows with the BW front end.
SAP recommends that you use BEx Web applications in the Enterprise Portal that run completely in the Web browser.
You can use the function Export as Excel 2000 File from the BW Web application context menu as an alternative to using a local installation of the BW front end if you require Excel functions. See Context Menu Functions and Exporting as a CSV File/Excel 2000 File.
An iView with a workbook can be generated using the Portal Content Studio or Role Upload. For more information, see Generating Content from SAP BW for the Enterprise Portal.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
·The System property contains the alias on the BW system (see Creating BW Systems in the Portal).
·The transaction code for every workbook is RRMXP.
·The value WBID= is in the ApplicationParameter property.
You can determine the workbook ID with the BEx Analyzer:
a. Open the desired workbook.
b. In the BEx toolbar, choose ® OLAP Functions for Active Cells ® Properties. The Information tab page contains the Workbook ID (Server).
Note that with BW workbooks as an iView, the AutoStart property contains the value True (process first screen) and the GuiType property contains the value WinGui.

How to populate columns in IVIEW using ABAP FM ?

Hi All,
I need to populate columns in IVIEW using ABAP FM. I had developed a FM which is working fine in SAP ABAP. Now Functional people has done the configuration for this FM to MSS.
When we go to the IVIEW in MSS, My FM is not getting triggered in the MSS portal, it is not displaying any values in that particular column of IVIEW. I dont know why.
Can anybody help me out? If u need any more details i'll provide that..

Does each SAP transaction iview create a log on to the backend ECC?

Hi,
If I put multiple SAP transaction iviews in a role, each pointing to a different SAP transaction in the same backend system, does the launch of each iview create a new logon in the backend system when using SAP logon tickets? If so, is it possible to make it only launch a new session if one logon has already been created?

launching of diffrent Transactio Iview form same back end is quite similar as loged in to backend with Proper credentials and opening diffrent transaction's by useing
/oxx(Transaction Name)

Cannot create iView from PAR file

I am trying to create an iView from PAR file. But when I select the option,
"Portal component - create an iView from a portal component contained in a deployed portal archive (PAR) file"
and click next, I get the following error.

Step 1: Portal Archive Selection
No templates to display. You are not assigned to any existing templates.
I have portal_configurator and developer roles assignmed to myself. Which other role do I need? I cannot get admin role.
Note: Other users with admin roles can create iViews.

What is your portal version details ?
In EP 7.0 you do not have the option -- New From PAR.
So to create IView from Par, you should select the option New --> IView and then there will be an option to select par file.
Otherwise
1.Check if your par file is deployed on server.
2. Check the portalapp.xml, if you have configured your components properly.

Workset Map iview:A Workset Map is the equivalent of a site map, providing users with explicit information on the functionality that is available in a given workset. It is based on an iView, and serves as a central point of entry and guided access to the contents of a workset.

Address iView not getting displayed in ESS

Hello Everyone,
When I am logging into ESS with an User of SAP systen, I am unable to see the Address iView of the corresponding employee to whom the user is assigned.A number of iViews is getting displayed for different countries but I am unable to get the iView which I am looking for.Even when I am clicking on the iViews which are getting displayed no data is getting displayed.I am using country grouping 40 i.e India.I have also set the parameter in the User profile(UGR 40 and UCN IN).
Also for some of the links, when I click them the page is getting refreshed continuously without any display.Bu twhen I am tyring the view the same using the PZ screens it is coming properly.
Please let me know what settings are required to get the proper iView.

Hi Kaustav,
Go to the portal->content administration->webdynpro and see in the left pane where all the deployed applictions will get displayed.You can chekc the same thru SDM also.
For deployment, you can download the .SCA file from the service market place and deploy it thru SDM.
