Overlapping Page Elements

Hi,
I have an eight-page brochure that I need to lay out in two spreads of four pages each. I designed each page individually, then used the pages panel to drag the pages together to make my two spreads. However, now there are some design elements and photos that run onto the pages next to them in the spread. When I PDF the file, these overlaps show. Is there any way to maintain my spreads but prevent items from overlapping onto the pages next to them??

Anything you draw or place is going to be as large as you create it. If
it's two pages wide, it's going to be on two pages. You're going to have
trim those object either manually by using the pen tool or by taking
advantage of the pathfinder functions which you'll find in the
pathfinder panel.
If you don't know how those tools work, check the help. You can easily
draw a rectangle overlapping one of the ellipses and simply subtract the
back object from the front object. Works a treat. I use it all the time
because I'm a bit of klutz with the pen tool.
Thinks to self...there is another way. If you don't need anything to
overlap, then do all the pages individually and then create a new file
with the spreads. Then you can just place the original InDesign file one
page at a time into the new file.

Hi forum.
i have used a logo for application. it displays. but...the problem is, it is overlapping the page tab bar. how can i make the tab bar to automatically push itself down and give enough space to the logo to display itself.

Moved page no longer displays Master Page elements.

After moving a page in my document the master page elements no longer display on screen or in print. If I move the page to a different location in the document the master displays but if it is in the specific position that it needs to be it will not display. The document has multiple Masters and others do work on the page but the one that I need will not. I've tried deleting the page and adding a new one and that does not fix the problem. I've checked and "Hide Master Items" is not checked. The page in question is in position 48 with F-Master applied. If I move it to position 49 it works, 50, it works, 51, or any other it works. If I apply a different master to the page, it works. If I delete the page, add a new page and apply F-Master it still does not work. The only page that this problem is happening on is page 48.

Why do I have to use the tab key even more to tab between page elements.

Firefox versions prior to ver 4 I used the tab key to tab between page elements (form elements, buttons, etc). I upgraded to ver 4 and now when I tab from form element to form element I first see a gray line outlining the element area and then another press of the tab the element becomes active for me to use. I now have to use double the tab keys to move between form elements.

Spry navbar position with other page elements.

2 questions on positioning a horizontal navbar with other page elements.
1.) I replaced a standard horizontal navbar with a spry horizontal bar.
Below the navbar is a simple image div- centering an image on the page.
The image is placed with auto margins r/l to stay centered.
After I replaced the standard navbar with the Spry navbar, the centered image now appears to the right.
What I want is the original design- the Spry navbar to be positioned above the image, drop down menu items can appear over the centered image.
My edited Spry page is not live until it works correctly- the original page without the new menu bar is here- michael-davidson.com)
2.) My plan is to keep the navbar on all my pages- so I'll set it up in a template.
Many of my pages wil consist of simpleviewer galleries- like this; simpleviewer gallery- will it work to put a drop down above the gallery?
Will there be a problem having the Spry navbar drop down over the simpleviewer gallery?

I may have missed it, but I didn't see any style rule that positions your div#navbar. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that if you don't style the div, it will sit on the left of your page.
When you put Spry Menubars above Flash elements, Flash will as a rule put itself in front of other elements.
Try changing this:

Can adjust page elements in MX, but not in CS3

I don't know what to call this problem, so couldn't do a
search on this forum. I have two computers, one of which runs
Dreamweaver MX, the other of which runs CS3. I can access different
elements of a particular set of web pages in MX, for example
resizing a photograph. But in CS3 all the page elements within the
"contents" div tag highlight as one single element, so that, for
example, if I try to delete a single word of text, the entire
contents--pictures, text, etc.--gets deleted instead. I made these
pages in MX. I'm guessing that there is some default setting in CS3
that is preventing me from accessing the individual content
elements. Here is a sample page:

Never resize a photo or any image from within DW. Load the
image in your
image editor and resize it there. If you do it in DW you
aren't actually
changing the size, merely squeezing or stretching it thereby
diminishing its
quality. And if you reduce the size (in DW) you have a
visually smaller
image but the pixel size (weight) doesn't reduce.

Pager Element in PCUI result list

Hi,
Am facing a very peculiar issue(s) described below, if anyone has faced this issue or has a solution i look forward to their replies on the same
The pager element on the result list screen of the PCUI application seems to be resetting to 1.
When we navigate to a page say 5 of 8 and select a row in the result list. The pager element index is automatically set to 1 of 8, the displayed result list how ever is the same as it was on page 5.
These application(s) was working fine before the application of patch SAPKA70007 which updated some of the PCUI framework elements.
The other problem being that for the initial display detail level 1 layout comes up as soon as the application is started, it should ideally not come up till a row in the result list is selected.

Yes, as the element can be empty for new records (as long as you didn't choose anything), this empty element has to be part of the elements as long as you didn't choose anything.
The only way to remove it completly is to define a Initial value for the element. But, because your list is dynamic, you cannot use the property "Initial value". Use a WHEN-CREATE-RECORD-trigger to assign the default value.

Master Page elements not showing up on top...

I'm newer to ID and the industry in general...with no prior experience. Running CS6 on Windows 8.1. I have existing documents that were shared with me where the master page elements always appear on top, meaning on top of pages or items placed in a document. Those items are surrounded by a red dotted line, and I cannot edit those in any way, shape or form. I am working in a new document and all my master page elements have a blue dotted line and do not show up on top of anything no matter what I do and the option to Arrange isn't there. I know I must be missing a really simple step, but in all of the videos and tutorials I've read and watched, this has never been addressed. What am I missing? See images below (added the green box to show an item on the page showing up on top of the master page stuff.) Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

The color is derived from the color code for the layer. You’ll need to go to the master page to edit the items.

Dreamweaver - page elements wrapping - how to stop it?

My school web-site - www.bws.wilts.sch.uk lets the page elements wrap down - this web-site: http://www.charterhouse.org.uk does not - it just allows the elements to become smaller and one can still see the left-hand side of the screen. How do I stop my elements wrapping down the browser page?

making it adapt to smaller screen sizes will have to come later - as I've been asked to make certain pages viewable from mobile apps;
for now I'd be happy if it behaved like the web-site listed above - ie the page view just 'cuts off' the right-hand side of the page - rather than forcing the page elements to 'wrap down' and cause the page to 'break up'.

actually, having been looking at how the browser squeezes my elements across - I think it may be my scrolling images div that is causing the problem.
It seems to be why the rest of the page elements are 'pushed' down the page. Here is another web-site that does not get 'pushed down': http://www.swgs.wilts.sch.uk/

Page Element within PageDef Files for Nested Pages

Hello all,
I have found in the help file of the JDeveloper, information about the <page> element which can be added in a page's definition (xml file) for referencing a nested page definition, but it does not work, I do not know, perhaps I use it wrongly.
Please any ideas or recommendations?

nested bindings are not supported in 10.1.3.x. In Jdeveloper 11 the templating mechanism uses pageDef references

Formerly I could download YouTube videos by double clicking the largest size page element in the Safari activity window address column. Now in V 5.0.5 page elements are not shown, just the page title, and under that about:blank. Suggestions? Thanks.

Not all YouTube videos are available for downloading, but:
There is the Free iTube Grabber which can capture almost any audio and/or video stream (it says here) but only works with Intel Macs.

Cell repeats on every page but is overlapping other elements

Hi all,
in my report I have a free cell which schould appear on every page. I selected in cell-properties 'Repeat on every page' and cell repeats as expected.
Problem is that a table in the report starts on second page and onwards not before the bottom of the cell.
Positions of the report elements shouldn't be changed.

Create a Webi document using
Add a blank cell and put it on the top of the table.
Name the cell as Cell1.
Right click the table and select Format Table.
In Layout tab, set vertical relative position to 0 cm from the Bottom edge of cell1.
Repeat cell1 on each page and keep it blank.

Catching one page element...

My jsp page has 2 components: a combo box and a text field. When the user chooses one element on the combo, i have to make a query to full fill the text field with the result of the query. My problem is: how do i get the selected element, to send it to the bean to make the query?

setMethod of my bean??The onchange event is a javascript function, and is called on the client machine after the JSP is done and over with, and the results sent to the client. JSP runs on the Server, and javascript on the client (browser), so you can't do what you want.
What you would do is have the onchange event submit the form to a servlet or back to the same JSP page, passing the value of the combobox, then the servlet would check the value, do the appropriate method, and assign a value to the text box.
Do a search on these forums and you should come up with several similar problems, and solutions.

ORA-20001 When trying to default page element to sysdate

Hello,
I have a master detail with last updated in the detail that I want to autopopulate based on sysdate.
To do that I have Tabular Form Attributes set to sysdate and default type PL/SQL Expression or function.
The display as is set to "Display as Text(saves state).
I would like to format the date which I do with Column Attributes and then specify the Number Data Format.
When I click add row in the detai part of the pagethe date is displayed as desired however then I try and
apply the changes (save the page) I get ORA-20001: Found invalid date value, please verify date format. (Row 2)
I have tried formatting the date in the PL/SQL expression with TO_DATE(SYSDATE,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI')
with the same result.
If I change the element to Text Field the date is saved correctly however I don't want the user to edit the
feild.
Any suggestions? Using APEX 4.1

I have the same issue.
1. DEFAULT=SYSDATE when using format mask='DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS' causes the time portion to appear but ORA-20001 when submitting the row.
2. Since the base column datatype is DATE, a simple to_char(SYSDATE,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') obviously causes ORA-01790: expression must have same datatype as corresponding expression.
3. A to_date(to_char(SYSDATE,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS'),'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') leads to the same error: ORA-20001: Found invalid date value, please verify date format.
Does anyone know the trick?
