Overlapping text on Safari

On some web pages the text is jumbled and overlaps. Can anyone help me...???

Any example URLs? Some pages use bad coding/javascript and may only work in Internet Explorer. Have you tried the same pages in Firefox?

    Have you cleared the Safari cache & History lately?
    If not do that, and restart Safari.

  • Overlapping text...Whats up?

    Hi
    Most of the web pages that i visit have overlapping text & links making it impossible to access and read all of the info at those sites. I thought it was somthing I could fix in the "view" or text encoding but nothing seems to work.
    Does anyone else have this problem? How can it be resolved?... Thank

    Hello cuz:
    You may have a font problem (or something else).
    Open font book and select all and eliminate the duplicates. Then select all and verify the fonts.
    Next, clear the Safari cache, trash the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and restart.

  • Overlapping text in Crystal Report

    I am working with Crystal Report 2012. I am suppose to create a Crystal Report which may be exported to pdf . It has certain fields with "Can Grow" property. As a result of all this I am facing overlapping text issues due increase in the text length , I don't want to limit the length of text fields. I require an urgent help to deal with this issues.
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi Dell,
    Is this the thing you wanted me to do :
    If yes then I did this but I lost the contents of the Group Footer #6b.
    Before applying , in-circled are the overlapping text which are possibly lost after the application
    Before:
    After applying these fields are missing
    After:
    According to me this might occur due to " Group by " which is removed afterwards.
    Waiting for your reply.

  • Selecting non-consecutive text in Safari text boxes?

    I've been trying to find a way to highlight/select different ranges of text in Safari without luck; I know that selecting consecutive text can be done by holding down "shift", but is there any way to do it with non-consecutive text? TextEdit is able to do this -- I can select a word in one paragraph, hold down the "command" key, and then separately highlight a word or sentence in another paragraph.

  • Selecting non-contiguous text in Safari

    I cannot find a way to select non-contiguous text in Safari.
    Select>Command>select does not work (as it does in Text Edit.
    I am very surprised that I can't locate any information on this via google, yahoo, etc.
    The only item I did find is something called "Safari Magic" but it looks pretty old and costs $19.
    So here I am hoping to get "truth" from the source (or any kind person).
    I'm in Snow Leopard; Safari 5.1.5.
    Thanks.

    Carolyn
    Thanks. I hadn't explored Safari's Extensions (only Firefox's). Your was a good suggestion. Alas - and to my absolute consternation - nothing for selecting non-contiguous text.

    Thanks. And as I alluded to Carolyn...this is really odd and frustrating. Not just that this functionality does not exist in an Apple application while it does in other Apple apps, but also that there does not appear to be any Extensions directed at this function.
    Can I be the only person in the world who selects and copies random or non-contiguous text from web sites?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Overlapping text is hidden

    I'm creating a diagram for my book in Indesign CS5. I've got a text frame for the whole page (containing the text in the page), some shapes and some additional text frames containing labels for my diagram. Those labels are overlapping the main text frame and the label text is hidden. I want the label text to be visible.
    I've tried sending the main text frame to the back (Arrange > Send to Back) and bringing the labels to the front. That didn't make a difference. I've also tried making the main text frame fill transparent, and that had no effect either. I guess it must be something simple. Or that Indesign doesn't let you have overlapping text frames and wants you to have jigsaw piece shaped frames all over your page.

    Do you know about text wrap?  You apply it to objects and turn it on and off using the Text Wrap panel (Window > Text Wrap).  Then you can set text boxes to ignore that text wrap setting where necessary in their options (select the box and Ctrl + B/Cmd + B).

  • Typing text freezes Safari

    My husband and I each have our own user accounts on our MacBook and mine is working normally. His, however, in the last two days when he types any text in Safari on almost any web page it freezes Safari forcing him to force quit. It doesn't happen when logging into Yahoo email or library web sites, but seems to on any other field. He can also use the google search on the address bar. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    Problems with Safari specific to one user account narrows the possibilities of what is occurring.
    Might be a Font issue at play. Download a copy of Font Finagler. This will allow you to clean the Font cache. Try Safari again. If this does not help, I'd look at specific Safari folders/files:
    First via the Finder>Home>Library: move the com.apple.safari.plist file found via the Finder>User Library>Preferences folder to the desktop and restart Safari. If Safari is stable, you'll need to reset your custom preferences in Safari, as well as any special settings in the Edit (spelling) or View menu (custom icons, status bar, etc.) If no change, move the file back to its original location, replacing the newly created file.
    If the above doesn't work, go to the User Library>Caches>Safari and move that file to the desktop. Same routine as the previous step (restart Safari, etc). If no go, move the folder back etc.
    Next, move to the desktop the Safari folder (which holds bookmarks, history, etc), and restart Safari. This folder is found in the same User Library accessed for the preference file. Restart Safari. If no relief, move the folder back, replacing the newly created one. If it does work, then you'll need to move one file at a time back to its original location, restarting Safari each time to isolate the problem file. When Safari crashes, you found the culprit.
    If the above doesn't work, go to the User Library>Caches>Safari and move that file to the desktop. Same routine as the previous step (restart Safari, etc). If no go, move the folder back etc.

  • Superimposed Text in Safari

    Here are a couple of examples of the problem:
    Superimposed Text in Safari:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/41807954@N00/4184790177/
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/41807954@N00/4189052282/
    This happens only in my main user account. The pages load normally in a second user account on my MBP, and also load properly on my iBook running Tiger. It does not happen on every website, but does occur with several.
    I have tried the following:
    Safe Boot
    Resolve duplicates in Font Book
    Changed both standard font and fixed width font
    Repaired Disk and permissions
    Emptied the Safari cache
    Reset Safari
    Reinstalled Safari
    The first superimposed line on the Net 10 site is common to my account, the second user account, and the iBook account, so I assume that it is a problem with the site itself. However, the other superimposed text occurs only on my usual account and not at all on the others.
    Clearly, the problem is with my usual account, but I don't have a clue as to what to try next. TIA for any help.

    Thank you for your response! I have been working on this with no success so far. I disabled all the widgets, but no change. I quit my only start up item, and no change. I quit all applications other than Mail and Safari, and still no change. I'm not sure what a plug-in is, so I don't know if I have anything like that.
    Also, I dragged my few 3rd party applications out of the application folder onto the desktop, and still no change.
    However, I do wonder if I do have some sort of a widget problem. My weather widget for Georgetown, Texas reset itself for Georgetown, Demerara-Mahaica (Guyana). If I am at a Best Western, two of my weather widgets reset themselves to Cupertino. And the level widget has no bubble.
    I will continue to work on this as time allows and report back if any progress. I am open to any further suggestions.
    Thanks again!

  • JUmbled text in Safari, and it runs off the page and behind images

    i have a really annoying problem that is only happening in Safari under every user on my computer.
    I have been to the Apple store and they have tried to fix it, but it perplexed everyone there I guess,
    either that or the fact that it was 8:30 and they close at 9... go figure. Anyways- When in Safari on
    certain websites that are heavier on text the words displayed in the headlines or body copy overlap, become jumbled, and run off the page.
    As I am typing this it is not letting my words wrap to the next line in the text box, I have to hit enter
    everytime I want to go to a new line. This problem is getting so annoying, and I am on the brink of
    switching to Firefox but I love Safari so much more. Can someone please help? I have already look
    at the " never display fonts larger than____ option" I am hopelessly in need of some advice. Thanks
    in advance for your time and patience. Have a great day!

  • Problems viewing text in Safari 2.0.4

    I'm hoping someone can help me; when a user visits this website in Safari 2.0.4 on certain sub-category pages the text either runs off the page and under the graphics on the right handside or words get cut off in the middle and word wrapping does not work.
    Text gets cut off - http://www.totallybarbados.com/barbados/Barbados_News/3025.htm
    Text runs off the page and behind the graphics - http://www.totallybarbados.com/barbados/Accommodations/
    This website is newly designed and works perfectly in IE, Firefox, Netscape, Opera and other Mozilla based browsers but not Safari. These pages and website all pass W3C World Wide Web standards but isn't displayed properly in Safari.
    Can anyone help give me any advise on this problem and if there can be a solution?
    Much appreciated.
    islandman

    Where did you get 67 errors? http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.totallybarbado s.com%2F shows the only error is the "pre" tag which are necessary hacks for formatting the "pre" tag. The other "warnings" are no different than checking apple.com http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?profile=css2&warning=2&uri=http://w ww.apple.com
    They also do not assign background-color to "every" css element. Why would you (to bloat CSS)? So, there is exactly "one" error which is well documented and is supported in CSS2.1 when released.
    The problem is that Safari does not adhere to white-space or "pre" tags (preformatted text). This has been an ongoing problem since it's incarnation. All other browsers (FireFox, Netscape, IE, Opera, Mozilla..etc) do. http://www.w3.org/TR/1998/REC-html40-19980424/struct/text.html#h-9.3.4
    edited: Sorry, had to edit as this forum software actually rendered the <"> tags (without quotes)

  • Applescript Help: Search for text in Safari DOM tree

    Im trying to make a script really similar what was asked here: Re: Find text in webpage and email notification applescript/automator Except instead of searching the "source code" of the page, I want the script to search the "DOM tree" for the page.
    To summarize, I am trying to make a script that loads a safari page, searches for a particular text in the DOM Tree, and if found will send me an email.
    Here is the code from the other thread I referenced:
    on idle
              set pagURL to "http://page.url.com?whatever"
              if application "Safari" is not running then
                        quit
                        return
              end if
              tell application "Safari"
                        set URL of document 1 of window 1 to "http://your.web.address/"
                        delay 5
      -- delay to let page load.
                        if source of document 1 of window 1 contains "search text" then
                                  my sendAMail()
                        end if
                        return 900 --fifteen minutes
              end tell
    end idle
    on sendAMail()
              tell application "Mail"
                        set theMess to make new outgoing message at end with properties {sender:"your name", subject:"some subject line", content:"The message you want to send to yourself", visible:true}
                        tell theMess
                                   make new to recipient at end of to recipients with properties {address:"[email protected]"}
                        end tell
      -- send theMess
              end tell
    end sendAMail
    Any help would be appreciated!

    For the URL you quote as an example (http://www.sislands.com/coin70/week2/NestedLoops1.htm), using text instead of source worked for me:
    if text of document 1 of window 1 contains "1  2  3  4" then
    another example:
    if text of document 1 of window 1 contains "10 12 14 16" then
    Note a double space between single digits (1  2  3  4) and a single space between double digits (10 12 14 16) is required for a match as per the table format:
    Any full line:
    if text of document 1 of window 1 contains "for (i = 1; i <= 10; i++) { // when i = 10" then
    or partial line works:
    if text of document 1 of window 1 contains "; i++) { // when i = 10" then

  • How do I search for text on safari web pages, How do I search for text on safari web pages

    How so I do a text search on a safari web page?  Please help

    When you're on the page you want to search tap the URL bar to turn it blue. Tap the x so it disappears. Type the word you want to search for, at the bottom of the suggestions is find on page, tap that. Your high-lighted text should appear.

  • Why are the thumbnails on the comments sections of blogs covering the text in safari?

    Why doe my iPhone make the size of the thumbnails so large that they cover up the text in the comments section of different blogs? They're mobile sites and they appear this way in safari and chrome. This is a new occurrence after the latest update.

    You may have zoomed the page(s) by accident by using "Zoom Text Only" (i.e. not full page zoom).
    Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl/Command+0 (zero))
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Zoom_text_of_web_pages
    If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
    Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
    It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but to use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.
