Overlay and synchronize video

Hello,
Does anyone know, how to overly and synchronize 2 or more videos of athletes, for example alpine skiers, using Premiere Pro? You can see that on the TV sometimes, where 2 racers are put into one track over each other and you can compare their rides? They are using special technology on the TV, probably Dartfish. But I hope somebody has some idea how to do it in Premiere? I have put one video over the second and set the opacity to 50%. Then I moved the upper video and adjusted its size, so that the gates (the skiers were at) matched. I created keyframes for couple of gates and for each of them I repeated the same and hoped Premiere would do the rest. But the result isn't good, the skiers drive away just a moment after leaving the gate. Any tips? Thanks. Ivan

Just for future reference, should anyone be looking at this thread for more information:
This link has a table with all major DIAdem features and what type of license (Base, Advanced or Professional) is required to use these features:
http://www.ni.com/diadem/buy/
The Professional license adds
3D model data mapping
GPS map layouts
to the features already present in the Advanced version (including video synchronization).
This page has a very detailed list of features, with more in depth descriptions and screen shots:

Maybe this is helpful to someone ...

  • How to I synchronize video from Imovie and audio from garageband?

I recorded the audio in Garageband and the video thru my video camera. I then captured the video in Imovie and attached the audio to the project from garageband. I can't seem to be able to synchronize both.I clicked on the green area and clicked "trim" and when the waveform appeared, I moved the handle back and forth, but video and audio never synced. I also went to my project and tried to pull the video or the audio back and forth, but it also never synced.
What are the steps to take to achieve this?

If you want the video and audio to automatically sync, Final Cut Pro X is the tool of choice, but it is more expensive than iMovie, and it has a big learning curve.
With iMovie, you can still do this by showing the wave forms and lining them up visually. There is a nuance that in iMovie, you must have video. You cannot have sound that exists outside a video element. For you, this means that if your GB track is the same length or longer than your iMovie video track, you cannot shift it side to side. This is easily fixed by adding some dummy clips before and after your video so there is room to slide the track back and forth. You can find these "Black Background" clips (and others) under the Maps tab.
I recently had to sync up some audio with video. Here is a post that explains in detail how I did it. It may help. Unfortunately, in my case, I was syncing the audio from 2 cameras. This is easier than syncing video with an audio track, but some of the tricks may still apply.
If anything still does not make sense, please ask.
One more thing. When you have an audio track like one created in GB, it is not simple in iMovie to delete a chunk of it and delete the corresponding video at the same time. Once again, this is a task better suited for Final Cut Pro X.  It is possible to export your movie to the Media Browser and then continue editing it in GB, so that may be an option for you.

  • Can overlay photos on video stream and keep audio track on?

I want to lay photos over top of a video stream.
i have a speech recorded and want to put pictures up that relate to the subject matter, but I don't want to interrupt the audio. you should still hear the speech as the photo pops up and goes away.
    how can i do this?
i've tried imovie and garageband video podcast but have no luck

Hi Baratunde Thurston - do I read you correctly? You have a video of a speech, over which, in places, you want to superimpose pictures, without disturbing the audio flow?
Question - can you get the video into iMovie? In other words, what was the source of the speech video? If from a DV video camera, then iMovie will indeed do what you want.
It is called a 'Paste-Over at Playhead' (see iMovie's 'Advanced' menu). You copy the pic you want with the required duration, position the playhead, and hit the 'Paste-Over....' instruction.
It is described in the iMovie 'Help' menu.
If the above does not fit your problem, then post back:-)

  • Some problems with 3D with xorg 1.9.2-1 and xf86-video-intel 2.12.0-3

I have some problems with the upgrade to xorg 1.9.1-1 and xf86-video-intel 2.12.0-3. Glxgears does not run smoothly at all and I got 15-20 fps (instead of the normal 60 because intel should sync with the V refresh rate). Very curiously, these problems disapear if I move the mouse cursor somewhere in the screen. Then glxgears run smooth and I have indeed the expected 60 fps
There are no error messages and glxinfo say that 3D is indeed enabled.

I have indeed not seen other problems. Presently the only other software that I believe use openGL that I use is googleearth; which run fine. Could it be a problem with glxgears?

  • File Manager and Synchronization

Thought I would bring this to wider attention (so reposting part of another post, apologies for that if you read it twice): the new File Manager app (by Acaras, I believe) seems to work just fine and is well worth 5 dollars. Great to see that holes in the Playbook experience are gradually being filled. I can click and open any file listed here, from word and excel to mp4, and even photos show up in small but view-able icons.
This takes care of a huge issue for the Playbook being able to justify a claim to being a business tablet. Now we can organize many documents (word, excel, powerpoint, pdf) into folders or categories, browse by those categories and open them accordingly. Once a document is in a folder, when you work on it and save it, it remains in that folder. I tried opening a new document, however, and there is no apparent way to control where it saves into. *I hope that will be another function added soon by RIM and partners.
Another big issue was regarding synchronization, there didn't seem to be a way to synchronize documents between Playbook and the computer. DataViz (which is now owned by RIM) invented this type of function in the days of Palm, so a mystery why it wasn't developed for Playbook. *Is this feature going to be added, RIM? However, I have found that I can synchronize using an application on the computer, I have used GoodSync to synch between laptop and desktop for several years. So this application detects whatever changes you have made to a document on Playbook and updates the same document on your computer.
The only problem I can see here is that you can't easily list a number of documents on your computer to synch to your Playbook (the way Documents to Go would do on my Palm), or if you really wanted to do that with GoodSync it seems quite cumbersom. Instead, I have to set up a few folders (eg. Playbook Working Folder, Current Reading) where I place current documents that I know I may be using on the Playbook. I tried using a shortcut instead of the original document to place in that folder, but it doesn't work. Anyway, this solution is still pretty helpful. It's not a bad thing to be forced to go back and finalize a working document and store it carefully when you're finished your active work with it. In the past I tended to leave different versions and when I went back, I had to check which was the last version.
If anyone had any further experiences or suggestions for how to manage and work with files that would be great to see.

hi, the file manager from acaras does work pretty well (for sure the best), but the videos app remains a total mess! i was hoping that rim would expand on that app, because no matter how organized my acaras app is, any kid who grabs my book and hits video, is going to be greeted with a whole mess of adult material!
also, still no support for mpeg video huh? brutal.
also, still no support for eye-fi cards or the fabled andoid player. brutal.
also, direction buttons on the key pad maybe?

  • Delete and replace video in iweb

I have iWeb 3.0.4 (iWeb '11 I think). I want to delete a YouTube video on my video page and replace with another YouTube video, or simply call up the YT widget and change the URL address to the video I want. I can't seem to delete the old video and when I drag over the widget to the video and type in the new URL it simply overlays my new video on top of the old one so I have 2 videos in that spot. Is there a relatively simple solution to make this replacement of one video with another?

First click on the existing video and use the Delete key.  Then add the new HTML snippet with the YouTube embed code.

  • Best practice to put overlay images on video?

    Hello community!
I would like to know what's the best way to put overlay images on videos, like ads ( actually ads )
I'd like to animate them and all that stuff, the thing is I believe I know how to do it, but I'm not sure.
On the one side I image that i should create a plugin to manage them, and a MediaElement to put them inside.
Supposably this mediaElement ( Ads ) should run in Parallel with the video.
I'm still investigating on that but I would appreciate any help!
    Thanks!

Yes, you're on the right track.  See this sample app for some additional guidance:
    http://opensource.adobe.com/svn/opensource/osmf/trunk/apps/samples/framework/LayoutSample/
The sample demonstrates the layout of an overlay bug by placing a VideoElement and ImageElement in a ParallelElement.  To map this to the ad use case, you might have the ImageElement encapsulated within a plugin.

  • Updating from trial to Full version, can't get rid of Trial Overlay on the Video.

    Hey guys,
I just bought the Premier Elements 11 full version and installed it. I had made a video on the trial, and was hoping that when I opened that in the full version, the overlay that says "Created with Adobe Premiere Elements" that hangs out there for the whole video would disappear. Is that not the case?? Is there anything I can do to the file what will get rid of that...or do I simply have to re-make my video??
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ben

    BenjaminGWS
Thanks for the follow up information on what you observed trying to get rid of the Premiere Elements 10 tryout watermark in the project.prel from that 10 version in the purchased Premiere Elements 11. You say that the watermark was not removed automatically by the purchased Premiere Elements 11. I had never heard "automatic" to be the case until I tried this myself with Premiere Elements 11, not 10, tryout and then the purchased Premiere Elements 11. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Premiere Elements 10 tryout to make a comparative test between
    Premiere Elements 10 tryout
    Premiere Elements 11 purchased
    vs
    Premiere Elements 11 tryout
    Premiere Elements 11 purchased
But I have seen my observation verified independantly by at least one other.
But there are a lots of things here that SG and Adobe need to help us clarify.
    a. Can you really remove the watermark from the Timeline once exported as a file (.mov, .avi, etc) from the tryout or is he and Adobe referring to removing the watermark on files still within the project.prel file.
    b. Classically SG has said to go Timeline Menu/Deleted All Rendered Files as the route in the project.prel of a purchased version to get rid of the watermarked video still within the project.prel from the tryout. The Rendered files are .avi files for SD project and .mpeg for HD project. It is my understanding that there is a fundamental difference between "Rendered Files" and "Conformed Video" files, the latter typically having the file extension of .mcdb. So, when SG says
"You delete the Media Cache by going to the Preferences (under the Edit menu on a PC) and, on the Media page, clicking the Clean button.
That should get rid of all of your render files -- and the watermarked video along with them."
I would ask him to revisit that statement. If you are doing anything with that directive, you are deleting conformed video files that are found in Local Disk C\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache Database Folder. That information is clearly available in the Media Cache Database dialog in that Common Folder. The "Rendered Files" are still alive and well with their companion .xmp files in the Adobe Folder (default Documents\Adobe\Premiere Elements). This is true for Premiere Elements 11 and 10 Windows 7 64 bit.
I do not see where the question that started this thread has really been answered. And the latest SG comment forces to ask for a clarification on that.
We will be watching for your results.

  • A transparent overlay for a video?

I am going to be creating videos for multiple versions of the same math problems.  There will be 5 versions of each problem.  So the 5 slides would be identical, except for numbers changing from one to the next.  Can I create a video overlay that will be transparent (so you can see the slide behind), where I can highlight words and write things and use the same overlay to create videos for each of the versions?
I hope my question makes sense.

I have Adobe Captivate 7.  I have a screenshot below.
I have used Word mail merge to create problem statements and solutions.  My Excel data source has formulas so that I can generate any number of problems and their solutions by setting up formulas in the spreadsheet.  Below are two versions of the same problem.  Each solution is broken up into sections/parts. Each section/part will be a background slide (or what I want to overlay - I'll explain, below).
So, for the problem Subtracting Mixed Numbers, below, the first step is to find the Least Common Denominator for the fractions.  The second step is to rename the fractions with the LCD.  The third step is to see if the fraction being subtracted is larger than the fraction being subtracted from.  If it is, then we have to borrow from the whole number and create a larger fraction.
I plan to do a couple of things with these slides.  Suppose the problem on the left is the "primary" problem.  I would like to do separate videos for each slide/step in the primary problem.  I make videos where I highlight the text as it is read, and point to numbers, etc.  Because the problems have identical layouts, due to the mail merge, the video portion, highlighting/circling/pointing would be identical for each of the other versions of the problem.  All that would need to change would be the audio.
I don't want to confuse you, but what I would like to do is have the student watch my primary video (left-side) problem, step 1 (finding the LCD which is 20 in the first problem), and then the slide for the second (right hand side) problem would be the one they work in.  Their Step 1 would be finding the LCD for their version.  The LCD for theirs is 24.  I would have a text entry box for them to enter 24.  If they get it wrong, the video for their step two would play, where the highlighting/circling/pointing is displayed with a new audio for their numbers.
For the different versions of the problem, the student would try to work each step, after watching me work my step.  Their first exposure to their step is the comparable slide for their step, with a text entry box.  An incorrect answer plays the video and audio showing how to solve their step.  They can then try another version of the problem and try inputting the answer for that, - incorrect would pull the video for that one.
I haven't quite figured out what is best as to the number of tries the student should get, but using a single highlighting/circling/pointing video overlaying their slide should save the time of having to do that part over and over.  New audio would need to be made for each version, though.
Does what I have said make sense?  Thank you!

  • Audio TC Overlay Syncing to Video TC, Not Audio - ?

    Hi.
I'm running Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 on a Power Mac G5 editing a film. It's 16mm20. I turn on the TC Overlays and video is syncing with the video TC, but the audio is also syncing with the video TC.
Why is this, and how can I switch it? I'm new to the project, but looking back over the whole movie the audio TC references the video TC. Also, CinemaTools lists the correct audio TC information.
Please advise on how I can fix this! Thanks so much!

    Hi, thanks for the response!
How do you attach files on this message board? I have a clip and an image ready to show, but I don't have a website or anywhere to post them.
Can you upload files to this message board?
2nd question: How do you create visual TC burn-in? FinalCut's manual talks about burn-ins in two places, and one of those is the index!
    Thanks!

  • Custom overlays and modifying Safe Margins?

    Hi folks,
I had a quick question and haven't been able to find proper information when researching... but would creating custom overlays and modifying the safe margin be theoretically possible within the SDK? If so what approach would be taken to do so?
If there is documentation on creating things such as this, and I've missed it, I apologize for wasting your time - however pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ian,
You can modify the Safe Margin in the Project Settings > General > Action and Title Safe Areas.
There's no plug-in type for creating custom overlays for the Source and Program Monitors.  I'm not sure what your idea is, but perhaps could achieve something similar using an effect plug-in.  Effect plug-ins built using the After Effects SDK can have "Custom Composition UI", so that when the effect is applied to a clip and its header is selected in the Effect Controls Panel, it can draw over the video in the Monitor.  You could create an adjustment layer and apply the effect to that clip, so that you could have an overlay over the entire timeline.

  • 5700 ultra full screen overlay on s-video out

    Hi everybody,
I have a Feforce FX 5700 ultra with vga out and s-video out.
I have it set up so that my vga out controls my monitor as its primary display, and the s-video is connected to my tv.
screen is set to clone and full screen video set to secondat display (tv)
this all works fine and the full screen overlay transfers the picture of movies and some games to my tv.
However I can't figure out how to set it up so the video overlays on the tv, while the game I want to be playing on the primary monitor doesn't.
What I mean is that when i start the video it overlays on the tv, but as soon as I start a game, that full screen overlay takes over.
I know there's a way to edit program-specific settings , but does anyone know what exactly to edit, and how to make it work so i can watch full screen video on my tv while playing a full screen game on my monitor?

You cant watch full screen video on the tv while playing  full screen games on the monitor...
This is a limitation of the video card and not a problem with the drivers or something else.

  • YouTube Interaction and Synchronize With Project

When selecting synchronize with project on a slide using the youtube interaction, the play/pause button on the playbar does nothing and the video continues on. It should be pausing the video right?  Is there a way to fix this? Or, is there a different way I can have the settings for the widget and the captivate project synchronize together?  Thanks so much in advance for any ideas!

Thank you, Rod. If I re-add in the playbar functionality to the youtube interaction am I correct that the user will need to pause the captivate project and the youtube widget in order for the project to truly be paused then? I really like the speed at which the youtube interaction loads and having it be able to be full screen is great, but if a user can't truly pause and resume with one click I'm not sure I will continue using the widget.

  • DVI to Video Adapter and S-Video Cable = Flipping TV Screen

    Hello!
I attached my DVI & S-Video Cable to my television. Everything was fine, except when choosing different display resolutions, the TV screen would start flipping.
    THEN:
    • I removed the DVI to Video Adapter from the computer while it was still plugged into the TV.
Now, no matter what I have tried, I get a TV screen that flips.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Jeff

S-Video is the better of the two interfaces. Neither is very good when compared with a computer screen, which will have much higher resolution. I doubt you will notice much difference between S-Video and RCA Video but if you have the choice you might as well go S-Video.

  • Internet access problems and viewing video on internet

I have very limited interet access most of the time.  I get a message: "You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication.  ..."  I have no problem with email and other features of the phone during this time.  The signal at the top of my phone says "GSM".  When I am able access the internet, it give me a different signal (can't remember what that is, however).  Even then, I cannot view most video clips, such as YouTube clips.  They will not load all the way.  It states, "Error has occurred in attempting to play media."  Help!

I have unlimited internet access, so that's not the problem.  Right when I got the phone, I replaced the original data card with a 4G card and enabled mass storage.  I have (since my first post) had more access capability by enabling the WiFi (da) which finds my wireless connection at home.  I've also been able to view a video clip, not successfully all the way through, however.  During viewing, the phone appears to crash, i.e. the screen goes white and then it takes 3-5 minutes for it to reboot.  This has also happened when the phone has not even been being used.   Also, as I was surfing the net, the phone asked if I wanted to enable Javascript which I did.  Is there anything else that I need to enable or do to the phone in order to have a more pleasant experience using the internet and viewing video clips?
