Overlay

Is is possible to overlay to videos. Like have one playing on the left side, then another playing on the right side. So say, one person can have a conversation with their selves. I used to be able to do this on my cheap software on my dell. But I really want to be able to do it on my mac (since i no longer have my dell). I know you can do the mirror filter to one video. But is there a way to put them both together.

QuickTime Pro can create files with up to 99 "tracks".
Those tracks can have any dimension and "offset" so you could put dozens all over the same file and resize them to fit the 640X480 size of DVD's.

My example uses still images but could be replaced with true video files. They all "play" over another still image file and even use text files.

How do I add the filename as an overlay on a PDF file compiled from images?

I am creating pdf files from digital camera images and want to add the filename as a visible overlay (ie either in Header/Footer or as a watermark). I can find all other alternatives eg Bates numbering, customised Header/Footer etc), but cannot find a solution to adding each image's filename to the image. I can do it in Bridge but not Acrobat.

Acrobat does not preserve the original filename information of images.
You should it in another application (Photoshop?) and then import the final
image into Acrobat.

ADF Custom properties overlay

Hi all
I want to put another one data in the same row in view mode in priview link http://tinypic.com/r/10e22wn/6 can see that in Edit form are showing both (Code & Date fields), but on View Form are only date in Custom properties i tried to RoDisplay: IllnessDate ,Code but then in view form showed only Code
Maybe someone can give some tips about overlay or how i can put the Code into view form in the same row

How can I incorporate an overlay with fields into a PDF file?

Once a week, I produce a timesheet. It's a PDF document generated by a third-party time-recording app, and it has room for hand-filling in signatures/dates/names, etc - 7 fields all told.
What I want to do is build a separate document containing an equivalent block of 7 PDF-fillable fields such that:
I can overlay the PDF-fillable fields on the space for hand-filling fields on the timesheet;
I can send the combined PDF file to another person in order to collect their name and (ink) signature.
I can then fill in my own (ink) signature, etc.
I can do the same thing week in, week out with no fiddling of fields, etc.
I got tantalizingly close (I have Windows Acrobat X Pro). I built the PDF-fillable form as a separate PDF, and merged it into a sample timesheet as a Background (and I also tried using a Watermark). However:
some of the seven PDF-fillable fields simply vanish;
one of the remaining fields seems to have picked up a name and formatting from another deleted field (is there some kind of uncleared cache in play?);
all the remaining fields were marked as Read-Only.
Update:
FWIW, I got it to work by reversing the files - i.e. by using the timesheet itself as the background.
When I add the Background (regardless of which is the main document), I get a series of warnings indicating that fields in the Background bearing the same name as those in the main document will get lost, but from what I can tell, fields in the same location as those on the main document also get lost.
When I use the template as the main document, things fall into place and the scheme works.
However, the situation seems like a fairly routine one that should be easier to solve. Ideally, I'd like to build a layer on top of the timesheet form and save that layer as an overlay.

Did you ever figure out how to overlay something on a PDF form? I've created buttons to allow a user to change out the background, but I want to have an image and possibly other elements on that.

Trying to combine multi PDF docs into one, but losing a barcode overlay at the bottom of the page.

I'm attempting to put approximately 100 PDF documents (various page lengths) together to create one, however when I use the typical method, File>Create PDF>Multiple Files then combine them I lose the barcode at the bottom of the page. I believe the barcode is seen by Adobe as an overlay, but I could be mistaken. I'm not sure if there is some options I could be changing to make this work. My other alternative is to use the insert...but this would be very time consuming. I'm looking to have more of these in the future so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Help me format text overlay in print module

I would like to print my photos with Caption field on one line and Date field on the next line. I would also like to change the font to something else. This is easily done in the slideshow module, just make two text overlays, position them where desired, pick a font and all done. Is it possible to do in the print module though? It seems as though only one overlay can be done. This is fine if I can force a line break, but I cannot seem to figure that out. Ctrl-Enter fails to work as does putting in the html code for a line break. I also cannot figure out if it's possible to change the font of the text overlay in the print module. Is what I wish to do possible? If so, how do I accomplish it? Many thanks!
Bonus points if it's possible to right justify and to bold the Caption field but leave the Date field in regular typeface.
I've also attempted this with the Identity Plate; it has all the formatting options I need, but it does not appear as though metadata can be displayed there, am I wrong?

Hopefully this will be improved drastically in the final release of version 2. In an earlier thread, I asked about printing that used to work in Lr 1.2 and stopped working in Lr 1.3. An Adobe engineer replied it was a known bug. I am also a pro photographer and love Lightroom. jc

Instead of using the specific identity plate as overlay, the print module should use more generic overlays. The identity plate would be just the content of a generic overlay, making other content possible, like metadata.
Content of an overlay would be dynamic, using token placeholders similar to the web module.
Each overlay could have an option to auto-rotate with the image, instead of always being on the long (or short) edge of the paper. For example I'd like to be able to place copyright info always on the bottom-right of the image, regardless of whether the image has landscape or portrait orientation.

How to Position Identity Plate Overlay in Print Module?

When I print portraits, I want to include my name and date overlaying the portrait in the lower right hand corner. Currently I have to open the file in Photoshop and add this to the portrait. I saved the text information (name and date) in a transparent tiff and imported the into LR's print module identity plate. The problem is that the graphic is displayed in the middle of the portrait. Is there some way that the identity plate overlay can be positioned exactly where I want it (the lower right hand corner)?
I recently did a portrait sitting for a large family reunion that involves seven different family portraits being printed in 4 different sizes. If I could position the identity plate exactly where I want, this would save me a lot of time instead of having to add this in PS.

My MacBook Pro is stuck in Dashboard overlay. When I opened the case this morning there it was. I did not enter this mode and cannot get out and back to the desktop. I have tried Mission control, but it will not open, escape doesn't work either.

I have a MacBook Pro running Yosemite.I did not shut down the computer last night. When I opened the computer this morning Dashboard in overlay was on the screen. I have not been able to get out of dashboard. I have tried esc, F12, and accessing System Preferences in the Dock. I clicked on Mission control and nothing changed. Help be get back to my desktop.

     Did you try restarting the computer?
    Delete com.apple.dashboard.plist file.
    Quit all applications.
    Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
    Select "Library" from the drop down.
    Library > Preferences > com.apple.dashboard.plist
    Right click on it and select "Move it to Trash".
    Restart.
    If this doesn’t help, Put back the com.apple.dashboard.plist
    Right click the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.
    Right click the com.apple.dashboard.plist and select “Put Back”.

Transparency problem with animated gif within AJAX overlay

Hello all,
I have designed and animated a loading spinner in Photoshop CS3, which needs to sit within an Ajax overlay, with transparency set to 75.
I tried exporting the spinner as an animated gif with a transparent background (using Save for Web), but it gave the animation a pixelated outside edge. Does anybody know how to remedy this?
As the Ajax overlay is semi-transparent, I tried exporting the animated gif with a black background and transparency set to 75%. I ticked the transparency box in the export window, but once it is loading in the Ajax it doesn't seem to be transparent (see here: http://www.chrisgartside.co.uk/flash/Screenshot.jpg)
Any help is very much appreciated.

You can't drag a transition into the canvas. If you're dragginmg a transition from the effects tab you drag it between the edit point of two clips in the timeline.
Make sure show edit overlays is turned on in the Canvas view popup.

How can I use multiple overlay effects simultaneously in Photoshop?

There are 3 overlay effects available in Photoshop as layer styles: Color, Gradient and Pattern. The problem: these effects come in a strictly fixed order!
Is it possible to make a translucent Gradient Overlay over a Color Overlay using only layer styles? Or a Multiply Pattern and Color Overlays?

Another option would be Grouping the Layer, applying one Style to the Group, grouping that Group, applying the next Style to that Group, etc.

Is there a way to create a custom overlay within FCP?

Can u create a simple overlay (such as a square box) within FCP and have it work as an overlay, with alpha channel. Can't seem to figure it out.
I've done it by making the object and then keying out the black, but is there a way to just make it and have it work right off the bat?

Interesting question. I had to go try it and, you're right, the shapes come in on an opaque field and I have always assumed they were on transparent. Seems they were in earlier versions, can't remember. I do most of that kind of work in Motion.
You can use the luma keyer or you can shift one or more of the color channels to the alpha.
You can use the Screen composite mode which makes black transparent but there are issues with modes if you start stacking layers.

Is there any way to export 2.35 Anamorphic source to a 16x9 letterboxed frame WITH timecode or text overlays?

I have been trying to export temp cuts of an anamorphic project (2.35:1) in a letterboxed 16:9 frame with timecode and text overlays and other Additional Video Effects. Converting the 2.35 to 16x9 has been a breeze with the Preserve Aspect Ratio option in Cropping & Padding . The problem is that the black bars that that puts in the 16:9 frame appear OVER any of the Additional Video Effects, thus covering them up.
E.g. if I select a Text Overlay and place it in the Center, I can see it just fine. But if I want it Upper Left, Title Safe, it is covered by the black space of the Letterboxing. So the Additional Video Effects are getting added, they are just getting covered by the letterboxing. You can even see the very edge of the text in the Title Safe position, peeking out from behind the letterboxing, which is, of course, frustrating .
Thus far it's been a two-step process: letterbox the anamorphic source, then add TC and other video effects in a second job.
So - is there any way to do this in ONE step? It would really help my anamorphic workflow.

Yes, I've considered adding titles and/or generators in the FCPX storyline, but this creates a need to render the entire timeline. As I'm juggling library locations and hard drive spaces I just didn't want to add a new render that will occupy a lot of space. It's also a bit of visual clultter for me, so my goal is to find the best workflow for adding this stuff on or after export.

Is there a way to overlay a photo onto an existing movie so you can see both at the same time?

I'm trying to create an effect, which I'm sure can be done, which at various points of a 3 minute movie, i can overlay still photos where you can see the photo overplayed onto the movie at the same time. What technique is used?

These are presets found under fx Effects/Presets/25% or 40% category). They come in static version as well as spin in and other motion versions.

Can you please let me know whether you have overlaid it on Win/Mac?
When you have created the mobile project what does app.xml show? for example if you have 3.5 overlaid you should be able to see something like this in app.xml

For overlaying AIR 3.5 SDK on Flex SDK 4.6 locally following the instructions mentioned in the below url and then create a Flex Mobile project using that SDK.
