Overlaying a video over a moving shape in another video?

I'm looking to do this (Dropbox - Creepy Scarf Guy.mov) but with myself moving. As in, a video almost like a double exposure slightly visible with minimum opacity but on a moving shape, aka myself. I can do with an image, but not a person in a video.
I plan on recording against a plain white or black background, so I can mask it out easier later on.
Ideas? I can't find tutorials.

Double exposure to me says 2 layers and partial transparency. Just duplicate your layer, adjust opacity and experiment with blend modes.
If you want to remove the background the use color not white or black. It will be much easier to green screen something than try and remove a white or black background. Any local fabric store will have some green or blue (best color depends on the clothing and hair color of the actor) fabric that you can hang on a wall...

  • How to add moving shapes over video?

    Hi,
I am making a short video that explains how to use some software for my job. I want to make a red rectangle appear around a particular item to highlight it (such as the mouse pointer) and be able to follow the motion of the item. I saw in the Boris documentation there was reference made to vector shapes, but I could not figure out where to create them. How can I create simple shapes that can move around and dynamically change size? Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot to say I am using Final Cut Express HD 3.5.

The only way you can do it within FCE is by using motion keyframes. Create the shape in Photoshop, making sure it confirms to your video settings. You may also be able to create the shape within FCE by using a combination of Color (from Video Generators>Matte) and applying Mask Shape to it.
Set the shape on the video track above your clip (ie clip on V1, shape on V2). Click on the shape to open the motion controls in the Canvas (make sure Image + Wireframe is selected in Canvas). Now use the Motion contorl tab in the Viewer or the Motion handles in the Canvas to move the shape, setting Keyframes to animate the motion

  • Focusing in on a specific moving area of a video

    Hi,
    1. Is it possible to focus in on a specific moving area of a video?
For example a ship sailing on the sea. Is it possible to mark an area around the ship, and have the marked area move with the ship while excluding the rest of the video so only the close up of the ship is visible at all times?
    2. Is it possible to stretch / speed-up video footage of a live band performance; to sync it with the audio of a studio recorded version of the song?

For the "cropping," there are at least two ways to do this easily, though with different visual results:
Apply the Crop Effect to the necessary sides of the Source Footage Clip, but this will leave black bars around the edges of the Video's frame.
Adjust the Source Footage Clip's Fixed Effects>Motion>Scale (to Zoom), and Motion>Positin (to Pan to where you wish), and let the Project's Frame Size effectively crop the area, that extends beyond it. The possible limitation with this method is that if one Scales too much, the image will degrade in quality, but a little will most likely never be noticed.
Both methods allow one to Keyframe the Effects over time, which might be desired.
    Good luck,

  • Can not view video over the Internet on WVC80N

I set up the web cam, set up the port forward etc so now I am able to:
       1. view/change web cam settings inside my home network.
       2. view video inside my home network.
       3. view/change web cam settings over the Internet.
But I am not able to view video over Internet. Every time I did so (using IE browser), after clicking the view video button, I got an error : There are too many user connections or the device is busy, please try again latter.
Anyone has a fix on this? I set up port forwarding on port 1024 (that's how I can chage settings over Internet).
I spent 2 hours on the phone with Linksys tech support but they could not find the reason.
    Thanks,
    Sam

Who is your ISP? How you are trying to access your Camera from the remote location? Along with Port 1024 you need to do port forwarding for port 80 on your router for the Cameras IP address. As WVC80N works on your HTTP Port.
To access your camera from the Remote location, you need to use http://wan ip:80.

This is easily done with dial peer statements . The dial peer in your originating router must route the calls to the terminating router first. That would look like :
dial-peer voice xxxxx voip ( the xxxxx is just a tag)
destination-pattern 45... (that would route any 5-digit calls beginning with 45)
session-target ipv4:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (ip address of the terminating router)
If digitones are to be dialed after the connection is established, use the statement:
    dtmf-relay-h.245-alphanumeric
You could also use a statement to specify the codec to be used:
    codec g711ulaw
You would need multiple voip dial peers if the calls were going to different routers based on the dialed digits. If all calls are sent to the same terminating router, use all wild cards in the dest-pattern statement.
At the terminating router configure pots dial peers:
    dial-peer voice xxxxx pots
    dest-pattern 45...
port x/x (whichever port the call is to be terminated on)
prefix 45 (this re-inserts matched digits which are stripped off by the pots dp)
Repeat for other ports which will receive calls.

  • Why should it take over an hour to export a video that is less than 2 minutes long?

The short clip I have is only 1;51 long, but Media Encoder has been slaving away at it for over 20 minutes and still says over an hour remaining. The only thing I am doing differently with this clip is I have sped up the action x10 to give it a "Keystone Kops" effect. (The duration of the raw video totals about 17 minutes.)  I've also added about three titles and an MP3 sound file. Tried to export first to F4V, then gave up and am now trying export to plain AVI, but it is taking forever!
Dell T3400 dual core 3.2 gHz. Two 1T hard drives in a RAID stripe 0 configuration. 4g ram. Running Windows 7 Release Candidate (which I LOVE!).
The clips are from my JVC Everio GZ-HM200BU HD camera set at lowest picture quality (for longer recording).
    Any ideas?

    OK, well... where to start...
First, as to Windows 7, I appreciate your admonishment, but I have had no problems yet that I attribute to the OS. The main reason I switched to W7 is not for bonus points, but because Explorer will natively show thumbnails of the AVCHD files from my cameras. Vista would not do that. I am sure you'd agree that this is an important and very helpful feature. No other add-in program for Vista have I found would do that for me. It may be out there, but we haven't crossed paths yet.
Secondly, I have had no other problem encoding video before this particular one. Most of the videos I produce are for our company website (http://www.topographic.com) to be viewed as a FLV or F4V file, and there have been no problems with that. I did create a video that was over 1-1/2 hours long that was written to DVD, but that took, without surprise, over 4 hours to complete, including the transcoding and DVD writing in Encore. (This one that was giving me problems is only 1-1/2 minutes in length, and is not being written to a DVD.)
This particular video I tried first in F4V, but when it seemed to be drawing out so long, I canceled and restarted it as an AVI. And that one went on for well over an hour before it finished. The main thing that is different from this video, as I explained in my original post, is that the raw video was 17 minutes long, sped up by PPro x10 for fast action (you can see it here: http://www.topographic.com/video/booth_setup.html - I am the guy in the dark blue shirt).
As a comparison, I exported another video that is not yet completed, just as a test. That video is 44 seconds long and it took only 5 minutes to encode. All things being equal, this video would have taken at least 30 minutes to encode if conditions were the same as the video I was having trouble with.  I have to believe that the problem would be the compressed timeline for speeding up the action.
As further comparison, I created a test video with the raw clips for the troublesome video and exported it to an AVI file. It was a 17-minute video which took 31 minutes to encode. This seems to be consistent with my previous test.
In all other aspects I have had no serious problems with my videos and PPro CS4. A few little niggling problems here and there, but mostly due to my inexperience with the system (as my previous postings seem to adequately bear out).
As for my being an engineer: make that former engineer. I am now an IT and communications guy. But you can see what kind of stuff I designed by looking here: http://www.geocities.com/wanorman2000/gallery.htm.
    Thanks for all your help!

  • Video titling behind moving objects

i recently saw a titling effect in a video, in which a motorcycle drove across the screen and as it passed a title appeared behind it. how does one create video titling behind moving objects? i have no experience in animation, so i'm guessing that the video layer is duplicated and the top layer masked, frame by frame? would an 8-point garbage matte work?

You won't have an easy time doing this in FCP, but Motion, After Effects, or ultimately Shake, can do this a lot easier. You have to rotoscope the motorcycle, accounting for the rims, and space between the engine parts, or anywhere else where you would logically see through to the background, then duplicate that layer on top of the original, with the text in between the two layers. Depending on how long the clip is, you're in for a long haul. But if the footage is anything but DV25, clip analysis and automated keyframing might serve you well as a starting point after the initial mask is made.

  • Cisco 2811 routers to route video over ip for polycom equipment.

    Hi forum,
We are currently using polycom equipments over ISDN links for video conferencing, however, we intend to switch to our EIGRP E1 lines for that. all our sites are currently using 2811 routers to route both data and voip traffic. How do I provision the network so that I can use my E1 lines for video over ip, How should I design it?
Besides, How do i provide video over ip service to my mobile users who vpn into my network.
    Thanks and best regards,
    paul

first, on provisioning your network for video over ip, make sure you can implement the QoS required to provide a clear, unchoppy video stream.
your design could look something like the following:
    polycom >> network >> router >> E1 >> router >> network >> user
(very basic description, you may require more detail depeding on your needs)
also, for video over ip to your vpn users, you might be able to use something like cisco IPTV or the likes. (depending on the type of video you want to provide your users)
please see the following link for video over ip for polycom:

  • Video over ip design guideline

    Hi
I want some guideline for designing video over ip setup.
We have central monitoring system and multiple sites connected to central site.
Now sites will have cameras and alrm system.
Live videos will be recorded at sites.
Now this is BOD application where we will pass video may be voice
    and also data.
Central site may take archived data from sites at any time.
Now in such scenario what solution is best and cost-effective?
Whether DMVPN or MPLS/VPN or any other solution as we
require bod and not continuous dedicated bandwidth?
Pls let us know any document having such type of solutions.
    Regards

What "flavor" of video over IP are you looking for?
If it's streaming video, then the Cisco IPTV would do the trick. There are four basic models: A control server, a broadcast server, an archive server, and a "starter kit" that can do all of the above, but with limited resources.
Do a site search for IPTV to get the docs & application info.
If you were looking for video conferencing, there are also several possibilities.
So, streaming video or conferencing? What's the application ?

  • Float Video over web page

    Hello all -
I would like to float a video over a web page, so that when
the web pages is scrolled the video remains on the screen. I have
contacted technical support and was told this involved Div tags,
and CSS. Both of which I'm fairly familiar with. However, they did
not tell me how to do this, but referred me here.
I have a video that has been converted to an FLV with a
transparent background. I have the web page and the video plays on
it just fine. Now, I need to be able to scroll the web page while
the video 'floats' on top the screen.
    Can any one help? PLEASE?
    Many thanks!

If you don't have to worry about IE6 or earlier, you can use
    the CSS style
for position:fixed, as is done on the
    http://www.csszengarden.com
    page for
    the Eric Stoltz design.

  • Is it possible to record a "video over" like you can record a voiceover?

I am new to iMovie, but I've started to use it and I am impressed by how easy it is to use and how fun it can be.  I am kind of an amateur pianist and floutist, and I've recorded a video of a piano/synthesizer performance, and I was also able to record a voice over with the flute for the video performance.
What I would like to do is record a separate video perfomance with the flute and than make a split screen video of the 2 together in sync.  It is much easier to do that if I can play along with the already recorded video of me playing the synthesizer since it is easier to keep them in sync.  I guess the other route would be to use a metronome or other timing device and then match them up after the fact, which seems a little more difficult.
    Any ideas on that.
    Thanks.

I was just wondering if you can do a repair install of osx server?
That won't be available until Snow Leopard is released.

How do I superimpose a video over a picture?

First, go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure that the Advanced Tools are enabled.
Drag the Photo to your project.
Now select the frames that you want from the clip in your event library. You can get the whole clip, or a selection. Your selection will have a yellow border around it. Click inside this yellow border and drag it to your photo. Drop it at the point where you want the video to be superimposed and drop it on the photo. A popup menu will appear. Choose CUTAWAY.

If you are using JMStudio, click File -> Transmit, capture for the capture of webcam, then you click "Next" and finally you must insert IPaddress of computer destination and port number (for example 1550).
On computer destination open JMStudio, click file, then click RTP session and finally you must insert IPaddress of computer(transmitter) and numberport=1550.
I always use this numberport. On the same computer not work.
