Overly sensitive touch screen 3G

Whenever I receive a phone call my ear or my cheek or something will touch the screen and start a whole random series of events and eventually locks me out and the screen turns to black until the call is over.
Is anyone else having this problem with the new 3G phone? Never had it with the old iPhone.

On the STUPID phone!!!!
Ok it on the front of the iPhone. this link,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Iphonesensors.jpg shows theproximity and ambient light sensors on the first-generation iPhone.

  • Overly sensitive touch pad

My iBook is coming up on 3 years old. The past several days Iv noticed that my touch pad is becoming smoother and smoother. It's also become very sensitive to any movement. One small touch and it's toally across the page. Iv used a number of things to clean it off, but it's not helping much. It remains sensitive. Is there a normal life span for the touch before it needs to be replaced? Or is this just an individual problem? No idea is it's a simple item to replace. Any one have any hints?

There is a document about touchy or erratic trackpad operation:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=17228
At some point in the past, there also was a way you could try
and reset the trackpad by holding your palm over the entire
pad surface, for about a minute, then pull it away in one motion.
Not sure how that was supposed to work, but I tried it on an iBook
G3 dualUSB model and it seemed to make the trackpad less
touchy at the time. I have not had a need to do these things with
my newer mid-2005 iBookG4 1.33 12" machine, so far it just works.
Hopefully the part won't need replacing; that can be a service job.

Good luck in this, and happy computing!

  • Horizontal Lines all over Ipod Touch Screen

    Hi,
There are white and multicolored lines all over the Ipod touch display. The device still responds to touch, however.
Does anyone know what could cause this to happen?
I didn't do anything to it. It's been working perfectly. I was using it and the battery was about to die so I put it aside. A few minutes later I tried to wake it again and this is what it looked like:

    Thanks

Have you had any luck at the Apple Store?
I took mine and they said there was nothing they could do. They suspected something had randomly gone wrong with the hardware, but as it was not under warranty they wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
They gave me the option of replacing it for something like $160 or getting 10% a new iPod Touch. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do.

  • My touch screen on my iPhone is not working correctly. I touch one part of the screen and another part responds. Is the there any way to solve this problem?

My touch screen screen is not working properly.  I touch one App or icon and an different App/icon opens.  It is an ultra sensitive touch screen, any idea on how to solve this issue?

Yes!  Stop using the charger!  My husband noticed it was worse when plugged in. One apple guy told me "restore" ... I did all that and it did not help. After I stopped using the charger, it stopped messing up. I used my husband's charger and all is well.
Later, an apple employee told me to bring in the charger for a trade in, because they had a recall on some of them.
I haven't traded it yet, but I plan on it.
    Good luck!  Let me know!

  • Scroll stuttering and loss of touch screen control

Since downloading IOS 8.1.3, my iPhone6 has begun doing some really crazy stuff when I am scrolling up or down with my finger.  Its not 100% all of the time but when it happens, initially, the scrolling will begin to stutter away from my finger, followed by a complete loss of control over the touch screen.  At that point, random buttons all over the screen will be getting clicked as if I was touching them, but I'm not.
This has been consistent across all apps and has only begun for me following iOS 8.1.3.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of a solution?  Thanks.

Same exact problem as you have on my iPhone 6, and same cause - 8.1.3. I am not even going to install 8.2 for fear of more, new bugs. Nothing on the list of bug fixes for 8.2 says anything about this shaky screen and things being clicked on their own problem.
Any luck with this issue being fixed with 8.2? Anyone still experiencing this with 8.2?

    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Then double-tap Settings.
    4. Tap General.
    5. Then double-tap General.
    6. Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility
    7. Tap Accessibility.
    8. Then double-tap Accessibility
    9. Tap VoiceOver
    10. Then double-tap VoiceOver.
    11. Tap "On" next to VoiceOver
    12. Then double-tap "On" to turn it off.

  • Is there a function to adjust the touch on the touch screen?   Its been very sensitive lately

iphone has been very sensitive to my touch.  Is there a setting or function to adust the touch on the touch screen?

Based upon your OP, I don't think Assistive Touch is what you want.  For more info on AT, see p. 155 of the User Guide.
For your problem, try cleaning the screen and/or removing your screen protector.  It's a long shot but quick and easy to do.
If still a problem, try restoring with your backup.
FYI, there is no adjustment for the touch screen sensitivity.

  • How to make iPod Touch screen more sensitive?

My iPod touch screen is not very sensitive to the touch. Sometimes i have to press down with a little force to get it to press what i want. I have tried other peoples iPod's, and compared to theirs, mine is not very sensitive. PLEASE HELP!

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
    Try each of these.
Did your put a screen protector on it?  Try removing it and see if that helps.

  • Touch screen double clicks are seen as two single clicks due to position sensitivity

I'm developing an app for a laptop with a touch screen. It displays several low resolution images in Lab View pictures. The operator can select an image by double clicking, displaying a higher resolution picture that fills the screen. Double clicking that image returns to the multiple image display.
It is very difficult to cause a double click event via the touch screen. The two clicks must be located at the exact same point on the touchscreen, or two single clicks are returned. My fat fingers can't seem to hit the same pixel twice.
Is there a way to set the position sensitivity of double clicks in Lab View? in Windows?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi Dan,
I think this would be an OS configuration-parameter - at least, outside LabVIEW - have you looked under "Control Panel" or Programs for a touch-screen configuration utility?  Here's a link to info re: the Dell Latitude XFR D630.  Note the "Doube Click Area" parameter under "Touchkit Configuration Utility" - Settings.
    Cheers!

  • Touch screen no longer touch sensitive

    Hi,
I have a ipod touch since the beginning of February. All was OK until yesterday ! The screen is no longer touch sensitive.
I'd been using it, took my headphones off when I met someone and when I put them back on couldn't hear any more music and the screen was no longer touch sensitive. Since then, I've re-installed the operating system several times but it changes nothing. When I slide my finger across the screen nothing happens.
The screen doesn't appear to be damaged - anyway its never got a knock. Any ideas ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Last week my touch screen also stopped responding. It comes back sometimes but the problem seems to get worse and worse. I have tried to do a full factory settings restore but it does not help and I have tried all the other resets as well.
    What is going on?

  • Unable to turn off voice over and all of a sudden the touch screen is extremely slow to respond.

I am unable to turn off Siri/voice over and the touch screen is nearly unresponsive.  Brought it to Best Buy to have the geeks look at it and and weren't really receptive unless I ponied up some cash for a service plan.  Was hoping someone could help me out.  Thanks!

    - What hapens when you
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. I
    - Next see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:
iPhone: Configuring accessibility features (including VoiceOver and Zoom)
    - Then try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • E7 Touch Screen - How to reduce sensitivity

Hi, just got a E7 last week.  Great phone for my needs but I find the touch screen a little too sensitive that a slight brush would activate e.g the call dial pad or the options menu in the home screen. This usually happens when I try one handed operations as I try to stretch my thumb across the screen.
Does anyone know where & how to reduce the sensitivity of the touch screen so that it will only register a touch when I deliberately touch it?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Cheers.

I came from an N97 to the E7 and also found it extremely sensitive, however , after a couple of weeks , once you realise you only need a light touch the phone is fantastic, and if you try some of the Android phones, the reaction is similar. The main issue Nokia have had with touchscreens is people criticising there lack of sensitivity and speed, the E7 is on par with most modern touchscreen phones, give it a while and you'll love it

  • How to decrease touch screen sensitivity on iphone 6...buttons pushing themselves when not touched

Iphone 6 is having touch screen issue where I will be listening to voicemails or pandora on speaker or bluetooth and buttons will be pushed even though I'm not handling phone...very annoying when listening to many voicemails...can I make touch screen less sensitive?

Thanks  I'm having the same issue... only intermittently.  Phone changes screens, browser moves ahead, back, goes to pages in my history... all without me touching the screen or any button.  It's definitely weird!  They'll love that it only does it intermittently too.  Won't happen when I'm at the Apple Store.  I guarantee it.

  • Touch screen less sensitive since iOS 5. Help.

Hi, have you noticed how the screen is less sensitive when you type or play games?
I think I touched the right place (don't always have my eyes on the actual place where I touch, like everyone) but the screen doesn't recognizes it. I've only asked 2 other people and we all noticed the same thing. Since the iOS 5 update I make more mistakes typing, my games don't always register my moves, when I change keyboard language I have to be very very very precise where I touch or else it won't do it.
My screen is mint, my iPhone 4 never fell, I'm up to date in all updates and games. It really is since iOS 5. My friends too. How about you? And can we fix this to bring it back like it was before? It's really annoying to have to repeat my actions all the time.

Same here, since updating my ip4 to ios5 the touch screen seems much worse and inaccurate.
When playing videos it is now very hard to select and skip through the video, I'm there tapping the screen about ten times trying to fast forward through a video.
Also typing is much worse, keeps hitting the space bar instead of letters and the wrong letters alot.
Was perfect with ios4 but now it is truly apauling...

  • Sensitivity of iphone touch screen

Can I adjust the sensitivity of the iphone touch screen?  Does not recognize the end call button through my case.

You're welcome. They replaced my son't twice. Once for the End button issue, once for a problem with the sound. The mic when on the phone sounded terrible, you remove the case and it sounded fine. but the case back on and it was terrible again. Both time replaced at no cost.
