Override app preferences to print in grayscale/black and white

I have successfully set up my eprinter to print in grayscale, however apps used on my iPad or Android phone (for instance, the coupons.com app) are able to override my preferences and print in color.  This defeats the purpose of saving money through printed coupons.
Printer is HP 5510 and is set up with ePrint.

Yikes! Unfortunately, this defeats one purpose of getting a wireless printer. Printing full-color coupons is a huge waste of money, not a money saver.

  • Exporting to PDF in Grayscale - Black and White

We have recently been told that even though some of our reports have been created in black and white, they are not printing in grayscale.  Since there is quite a difference in the price, we are trying to explore how we can export in grayscale.  We are trying to avoid printing to PDF (which works when we change the adobe printer to black and white) because it takes a significantly longer time to create the number of PDF's we need to create.  Here are the things we have tried:
    - Making the default printer be a black and white only printer
    - Changing the printing preferences to black and white (it seems our printers just revert back to color every time)
    - Choosing the No Printer option in the page setup in CR.
If you have any other suggestions, it would be much appreciated! Also, if you have an idea why CR would continue to produce the report in RGB when the default printer is black and white, that would be helpful as well.  Thanks in Advance!

After extensive research, we have found that Crystal Reports 2008 does not have a grayscale option for exporting reports - it will only export using RGB colors.  The way we worked around this was export the reports to PDF, then used Adobe Acrobat to Batch Process all the reports using their "Convert to Grayscale" option.  This seems to work just fine, but adds an extra step in our process.

  • HT204135 This is my first iMac. How come everything I print is in black and white? I have an HP Photosmart and it prints in color just fine except when I print using the iMac.

Unlike my other computers where I can change the printer setup ( color, black and white, paper type etc) I don't see that option on the iMac.  Is it called somethng else? I want to retire my old computer but can't until I can print in color.

Thank you, I did that, after I click "show details" I see where I can change the paper size, reverse print etc. but I'm not seeing an option to swtich to color. On my HP and IBM PC's I can click on printer properties and change the print quality, paper type ( e.g.photo), grayscale and such. Do you by chance know if this is not an available feature on iMacs or maybe my printer isn't iMac friendly?

  • Can I print in just black and white from my iPad to an hp5510 photosmart printer?

Can I print in just black and white from my iPad to an hp5510 photos mart printer?
It seems ePrint is no longer available and now forced to use HP Connect. I am not seeing the option to print in black and white. Printing email messages in color is a waste of ink. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I was using ePrint however that is auto-directing me to HPConnected and I no longer have the option to change the printing options to Black and White or Color. This is a recent change for me.

    Hi,
Yes, you have to use HP Connected now. Do you use AirPrint or ePrint ? ePrint allows you to select Color or Grayscale under Color mode (note: Grayscale ALSO uses color inks).

  • How can I print with the black and white cartridge only?

I am trying to print using the black and white cartridge only because magenta is out of ink but I'm getting the following error message in HP Photosmart C7200 series print dialog:
The printer is out of ink.
The following ink cartridges are empty: Magenta. Replace these ink cartridges to resume printing.

I am absolutely disgusted by this; clearly a scam from HP to make more money by selling extra ink cartridges!!  I will make sure to never buy any products from the shoddy rip off merchants at HP ever again!!
    You should be ashamed!!

  • Printing Form in Black and White

I have a form with multiple fields that have a background color. It also has a print button. I want it to print everything in black and white to save on color ink. I found one other discussion about this, but it didn't address how to make the whole thing print b&w. It was basically to add a preprint script changing fill color to white. When I put that script on the print button, before it prints that button turns white. How do I make it apply to the whole document without having to put a preprint script on each field? And how do I do a postprint script that will change everything back to the prior color? I am using Livecycle 8.0.

In the print diaglog box, look at the line that says "Safari".  Pull that down and select "paper type/quality".
Then look at the bottom for Color Options and click the disclosure triangle.  There you can slect color or B/W.

  • Can I print in just black and white from my iPad to an hp5510 photos mart printer?

Blac and white only from iPad to hp printer

    Hi Tigmay,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you would like to print black and white from your iPad to your Photosmart 5510 printer.
AirPrint doesn't support many print settings, such as grayscale and black only but don't worry there is a way it can be accomplished.  If you download the HP ePrint Mobile app to your iPad one of your print settings allows you to choose between color and grayscale and if the printer supports it, black only.  I have included a screen shot from my iPad of the HP ePrint app that shows the setting.  The printer I had chosen (I don't have any of the Photosmart 5510 series printers) had the option of black only.  I've also included the HP ePrint Mobile App FAQ document for your reference.

  • Won't print webpages in black and white

Printing works fine when I am printing documents and other files, but when I want to print a webpage, printing is only done in color.  Even though I check 'Print black and white' on my computer's print preview page, and the print preview is in black and white, the printer still prints webpages in color.  What do I need to do to ensure that the commands I type on my computer reaches the printer? How do I make sure the printer is following the instructions I give it?  I am able to change it to black and white when I go into control panel > devices and printers > preferences > color > grayscale.  But when I have this checked it will only print in black and white and never color.  I am not able to figure out how to change it so that it prints black and white OR color depending on my command in the print preview page.  This is becoming very costly because of the uneccessary color ink that is being used so your help is appreciated.

  • HP deskjet 990cxi - won't print in just black and white

    Hi
I've currently run out of coloured ink and don't have any budget to buy more at this time however I do have plenty of black.  Unfortunately despite changing the print settings in the control panel and in word to black and white only, the printer is still not printing in greyscale but still trying to use the last bit of colour ink and so therefore simply not printing the bits that are in colour at all.  Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix this?
    Many thanks

What operating system? Different drivers may have different features.

  • Printing email in black and white in Windows 10

I would like to know if there is a way to print emails from Windows 10 in black and white. When I click the print all icon in Gmail, and select the 4480 all in one as the printer, there is no option to print in black and white.

Hi there, Have you installed the FUll solution driver or just the IN-OS (Basic) Driver?

  • Setting printer to just black and white

Is it possible to set the 2605dn to just print black and white?

A driver is the program your computer uses to access/run/use your printer.
If you use software update and download the latest drivers they MAY mess with the HP printer. After a lot of trouble I had to delete every HP file by using searches in Spotlight (or check in your HP folder in Applications on your hard drive and click on uninstaller), restart then download the latest drivers from HP and restart. After that no worries.

  • ThinkPad Edge e540 integrated camera only in grayscale/black and white

I got my ThinkPad a few days ago and I've finally gotten the camera to work. After I had finally fixed the camera by installing the proper drivers though, it came up with a new problem: the camera does not display color, nor does it let me enable anything to display colors. The "ColorEnable" option is grayed out when I access its settings through the ThinkVantage Communications Utility. I've tried modifing every single option to no avail. No matter what application uses the webcam, it's always in grayscale. Even if just the laptop itself is the only one using it, it's still in grayscale. It leads me to believe that it's a problem with the camera itself and not any one application.
I have not been able to find any solution at all no matter how hard I try to look. Any help would be appreciated. All my camera drivers are up to date as of today.
    Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit
    Lenovo ThinkPad Edge e540

Actually, the way you've described the camera with illumination is exactly how mine reacts as well. There has to be a very good amount of light for there to be any color whatsoever.

  • My photosmart C7250 all-in-one used to allow me to print black and white only, now it won't

My photosmart c7250 all-in-one used to allow me to print in black and white only if I changed properties to print in grayscale, black and white only.  Now it says it won't print until I replace one of the empty color cartridges.  I do no understand why the color cartridges are running out when I only use my black cartridge.

I still don't understand the difference between what I used to be allowed that I'm not allowed now.  I was able to bypass the empty color cartridges by changing my print property to "grayscale" and "black only".  Now I'm not allowed to bypass???

  • Converting a Color Cad file into a Black and White .pdf

My company recently bought me Adobe Acrobat XI-Professional as an upgrade from Adobe Acrobat 9-Standard. As such, one of the tasks assigned to me was to take color CAD drawings (.DWG extension) created in AutoCAD 12 and then convert them into black-and-white .pdf files. I recognize that there is a "Print in grayscale (black and white) option, but I'm finding that all of the text used in the CAD drawing (generally yellow and cyan) is coming out in grey rather than black against white. I need all of the colors to generally be black.
Is there a solution that I'm overlooking?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi TTownWriter,
On conversion Yellow, cyan and red etc convert as grey instead of Black.
    This is an expected behavior.
