Override Password

The computer is asking for a "current password" before it gets to the Windows startup window. I do not know this password, can you please help? (I was given this computer under the false pretenses that it only needed a charger.)

After 3 wrong password attempts it should give you a 'System Disabled' message and a halt code. Post that halt code here.

  • Need to override password protection...

    Have a SPA303 phone that was password protected by user that can't be contacted.
    Is there any way to reset phone? It keeps asking for administrative password, would even consider reformatting and installing os if that's an option.
    Any help or dirrection would be appreciated.

    Hello Matt,
    I suggest going to IVR menu. Then press **** (four asterisks). Then 3. Then 4 for factory reset and end with #.
    Hope this helps,
    Let me know if you need further assistance,

  • Providing non-Root Admin Users ability to override password policy

    We are making use of Sun Directory Server 5.2.
    Password policy has been implemented using CoS template definitions. As per the policy, the password minimum age (passwordMinAge) attribute is set to 24 hours, so as to restrict the user from frequently modifying his/her password.
    However, we do not want to place this restriction or enforce this policy on the Admin user of our system.
    We noticed the attribute passwordRootDNMayBypassModsChecks in the Directory Server documentation. But this attribute cannot be used, since our application does not use Root DN credentials to reset password.
    So we would like to know if there is a way for non-Root DNs to over-ride password policy definitions?
    TIA,
    Chetan

    You can create a administrative password policy and assign it to that particular user, else your global password policy will apply to all your users. I would assign this administrative password policy to the admin user, replication manager, and proxyagent

  • Oracle Traditional Import Overrides Password

    Hi to all
    I had just successfully finished a full importing from Oracle 9i DB to Oracle 11gR2 DB. My export was a full db export.
    Prior to this importing, my 11g was a newly created DB with the default SYS, System etc.. schema. Their passwords is different from those in 9i.
    However, i realised that after importing... their passwords in 11g was replaced by those passwords in 9i, including SYS and SYSTEM user...
    Is this normal? Thanks for sharing..

    Hi Srini
    Oh yes...I tested a few times and my SYSTEM & SYS password were replaced by the 9i password (redo the whole testing with a new installation of OS server and Oracle 11g) . I am able to login in 11g for those user schema imported from Oracle 9i.. Their passwords are the same as in 9i.. Will not the password file from 9i replaced the 11g password file?

  • SECURITY: Overriding password protection using OS X disc

    Do I understand correctly that the administrator password can be reset by using an OS X install disc?!
    The problem is not that I forgot my password, but that anyone can access my information by simply restarting using an OS X disc?
    Besides encrypting the home folder, how do I make my system more secure than that?
    From Mac Help:
    Resetting the original administrator account password
    Follow these steps to reset a password when there is only one administrator account on the computer, or if the original administrator account (of several) needs a password reset. "Original" administrator account refers to the one that was created immediately after installing Mac OS X. If the original administrator password is known, the original administrator user may reset the passwords of other administrator accounts using the steps described above.
    Start up from a Mac OS X Install CD (one whose version is closest the the version of Mac OS X installed). You should first disable Open Firmware password protection, if it is enabled. Hold the C key as the computer starts.
    Choose Reset Password from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger). Tip: If you don't see this menu or menu choice, you're probably not started from the CD yet.
    Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.
    Set the user name of your original administrator account.
    Important: Do not select "System Administrator (root)". This is actually a reference to the root user. Do not confuse it with a normal administrator account.

    Hi
    I believe you can set an open firmware password to prevent someone booting from the OS X disc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106482
    At the end of the day though, if someone has physical access to your computer and in particular your hard drive, they could probably access your information anyway by simply removing the hard drive and mounting it in another computer.

  • Verify filename and password

    I am trying to listen to a internet radio station that I used to listen to before and now I get an error that reads: "Cannot open file. Verify that the filename and path are correct and try again". I have other friends who listen to the station with no problems and I wonder why can't I listen to it.
    I am opening the browser in Rosetta mode and I am using Windows Media Player 9 for mac. I have tried everything and dont know where else to ask.
    Thanks!

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Sadly, based on your report, there are more questions than answers...there are many things that could meet the criteria as you have stated it:
    Your actual email account credentials
    Your BIS account credentials
    Your BBID account credentials
    Your device lock password
    From what you have reported, I cannot tell which of these might actually be your issue...so I'll make a few guesses, from which hopefully you'll be able to find what you need:
    If the problem is with your email account credentials, then contact the service provider of that email account.
    If the problem is your BIS account credentials, then contact your mobile service provider.
    If the problem is your BBID credentials, then refer:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World/How-to-regain-access-to-your-BBID/td-p/25467...
    If the issue is your device lock password, then there is no hope -- there is no "master" nor "override" password to unlock your device...only the user-created device lock password can do so. Failing that, your BB will wipe totally clean and you will have to start over.
    Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
    Cheers, and Good Luck!

  • Desktop software connection password

    I have recently changed my laptop and have just downloaded the Blackberry software so that I can transfer some pictures and sync my Bold.  The problem is I don't remember the password from my initial setup.  I am now at 5 connections and the next one will wipe my BB memory.  How do I restart the process?

    Hello,
    You don't. The password you are entering is the user-created device security password, the one that you must enter on the device in order to unlock it whenever it is locked. There is no "master" or "override" password...only the user created password will succeed. If you fail the last time, your BB will wipe clean and you will have to restore from your most recent backup...or, if you have no backup, start all over (this time hopefully remembering the password you create). BBs remain the most secure mobile devices available, and this is one of those features that allows them to maintain that rating.
    Good luck!

  • My password suddenly will not be accepted to unlock my Z10.

    My password worked yesterday unitl 5 PM when mt Z10 would not accept it to unlock the device. I am on 7/10 attempts.Is there a solution?

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Already so many attempts lost...so now you must be more careful.
    I recommend you reboot your device...sometimes the keyboard might "reset" on a reboot and thereby act normally again.
    Also, type your password very slowly, and review each character to be certain it is the exact character you intend it to be.
    If you have ever connected via USB to your PC and typed your device lock password to the PC keyboard successfully, then you should be able to do that now and that should reset the unlock counter to give you more time to figure out the issues with the device keyboard.
    There is no "master" nor "override" password to bypass the user-create device lock password...only that exactly matching entry will unlock the device and prevent it from wiping everything out. Hopefully you've been "practicing good computing" and have been taking regular backups as well as know your configuration, added apps, account credentials, etc...just in case you have to start over from scratch.
    Good luck!

  • HomeHub 2 'password'

    Just bought a Kindle, expecting wireless connection via my HomeHub 2. Kindle knows it's there but is asking for a password. This is not the password on the hub sticker. I've tried other likely passwords, like my BT email one, and other things I often use. I know this is a crazy question, but did I have to set a password when I first set up HomeHub, and is this what Kindle wants? I've seen I can override password on HomeHub 3 but not 2. Can I get hold of it, because I've certainly forgotten doing it? (Don't get technical with me - simple advice, please!)

    Hello,
    I know the Kindle Wireless is confusing since my stepdad asked me the same question ;-)
    The Kindle Password is actually the WPA key in the case of a HomeHub (or WEP key if you have configured it manually).
    It will be printed on the back of your homehub:
    http://btybb.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14000/kw/Home%20hub
    If you have configured it manually, to find out what it is you will need to go to
    http://192.168.1.254
    Click on A-Z in the top right corner
    Click on Wireless security
    The WEP or WPA key is what you need to put in the password field of the Kindle.
    Hope this helps,

  • How do I move the policy from Default domain policy to a custom policy.

    I want to implement a new password policy.  In the past we had a fairly loose policy, now I want to implement minimum length and complexity.  I know how to set this up in Computer Config Policies windows settings security settings and account policies
    password policy. However after I set it up I notice that it is not being applied.  I have run gpupdate, and even waited several days but still it's not taking effect.  I have created what im calling a custom gpo calling it "password policy".
    It is situated under domains/mydomain.com .  There are a number of other policies here.
    When I run gpresult /h c:\temp\gpreport.html  its all a bit confusing. It looks like it being applied but then further down it says under Group policies Applied GPOs Denied GPOs Pssword Policy mydomain.com empty. ??
    But let me ask this first off .
    The previous administrator I think has the password policy set up in the "default domain policy"
    Is it possible that the default domain policy which IS indeed set differently is overriding my custom "password policy"
    If this is so how can I make it so  my custom password policy is applied over the default domain policy.
    Or what other answers could it be.

    Hi,
    Based on your requirement you can create Fine Grained Password Policies.
    This feature introduced in Windows Server 2008 allows you to override password policy set at the Default Domain Policy for specific users or groups.
    Checkout the below link for creating Fine Grained Password Policies from GUI in Windows Server 2012,

  • How to install an additional domain in JCaps 6?!

    Hi again,
    did not take a long time until I reached the next problem that blocks my testing...
    Now I want to install an additional domain, aside from the standard "domain1" that was created during install. I took a look in the installation guide and found out that I have to manually adapt the "install.properties"-file under \appserver\addons\caps - here is my changed file:
    # ----- Domain configuration --------------------------------------------------
    # This defines where to install and deploy components to, and how to connect
    # to the server to do so.
    # The name of the domain
    caps.domain.name=domainCommonProjects
    # The admin http or https port
    caps.admin.port=18000
    # Username
    caps.admin.user=Administrator
    # Change this to true if the admin port is using https instead of http
    caps.admin.secure=false
    # The name of the server
    caps.target=serverCommonProjects
    # Optional: name of a cluster target
    caps.cluster.target=
    # Optional: specify the path to the password file here. This will be used to
    # connect to the server to deploy and configure components. If no file is
    # specified, the credentials as listed below will be used.
    caps.override.password.file=
    # If no password file is specified, the following credentials will be used
    AS_ADMIN_PASSWORD=STC
    AS_ADMIN_MASTERPASSWORD=STC
    # ----- UDDI ------------------------------------------------------------------
    # If the UDDI .war files need to be deployed, change this to true
    caps.uddi.install=false
    # ----- STCMS -----------------------------------------------------------------
    # If STCMS needs to be installed, change this to true
    caps.stcms.install=true
    # If STCMS is being installed, the platform needs to be specified. This is
    # because STCMS contains native binaries. Valid values are below
    caps.stcms.os=win32

    Btw - when I want to delete the initally created domain1, how do I do that?! Is it enough to delete the domain1-directory under "domains" in the appserver?!
    Thanks for all your hints...
    Regards
    Bernhard

    OK - I found out myself what the problem was!
    First - here is a great blog about how to create a new domain in JCaps 6:
    [http://blogs.sun.com/polyblog/entry/creating_a_new_caps_6]
    Second - what you still have to do is to adapt your install.xml file also (not only the install.properties), to set your correct values concerning domainName and port!

  • MacBook stuck with shift key enabled and numbers not working - even the keyboard app in languages wont type lowercase nor numbers?!  Anyone know whats up?  no spillage...cant understand why the keyboard app wont do anything.

    Anyone have a clue?  I can understand the keyboard being broke / shift key being stuck but why in the world would I not be able to type the numbers on the language keyboard app on the operating system?  Numbers show up on the app but when I press them I still get the special characters like #^&#* and it wont type lower case. Nothing has ever been spilt, just stopped working one day.  Rebooted from Time Capsule restore dated a month ago and its still doing it. (problem started two weeks ago).  Only way to get lower case or numbers to actually show up is the copy and paste.
    Any help would be amazing!
    Details on computer:  13 inch MacBook6, 1  (Late 2009) / Intel Core 2 DUO /  2.26GHZ / 2GB /  Memory running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5

    If you can afford it, I would recommend replacing the topcase and keyboard as Apple suggests. If like me, you can't afford it or are open to a hack fix, then read on.
    The problem
    Yesterday, a little water spilt on my 13" MBP keyboard. I turned it around immediately, drained out the water and used tissue to suck it all up but the keyboard was still acting funny. I turned it off and left it out in the sun for a couple of hours and turned it on again but problems remained. Like Rickdubya, my warranty had run out just a month ago and I knew Apple would not cover this under warranty. I tried to clean the shift keys and left it overnight with some rice on them with hopes that the moisture might get sucked out. Nothing worked. (The rice bit is an urban legend that seems to work with some electronics). Went to the Apple Store this morning and was told that they wouldn't even take out the key and clean it, and that the entire top case would have to be replaced. A total bill of 156 Euros which I cannot afford. I had a USB keyboard that would let me use the Mac for the moment so I decided to try to work out a fix.
    Symptoms
    - Boots in safe mode everytime (which I later found out was because the shift key is pressed)
    - Cannot login because password is in lower case or has numbers
    - Cannot boot in super user mode and try to disable keys or override password as some commands won't work in uppercase (I wouldn't recommend this anyway because its super user mode)
    - All text is in caps and numbers are symbols as though shift key is always pressed
    - Audio doesn't work
    - Keyboard viewer would not always show the shift key pressed. The key seemed to get pressed at random
    Fix
    1. Hold the Option button down on boot to bypass the Safe Mode ensure a normal boot
    2. At the login screen, plug in a USB keyboard and enter your password to login
    3. Change your password to one that uses all caps and no numbers
    4. Download and install KeyRemap4MacBook .
    5. Use a combination of the functionalities of the Keyboard Viewer and KeyRemap4MacBook to figure out which shift key is the problem. In my case, I found out that it was only my left shift key.
    6. Disable the left/right shift key on KeyRemap4MacBook and click on the 'Reload XML' button to make that take effect.
    If only one shift key was the problem, then you are done. If both shift keys were shorted, then its likely other keys are too. In which case you should probably just replace the entire thing. If you think other keys are not affected, then you can use KeyRemap4MacBook itself to remap the shift functionality to a lesser used key like the Left Option key.
    7. Under System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items , add KeyRemap4MacBook as an application that should start on login. This will ensure that your disable/remap of the shift key is active everytime you login.
    Usage change/Things to remember
    1. Remember to hold down the Option key everytime the computer boots or reboots to bypass safe mode. The fix above is at the software level. The key is physically still shorted at the hardware level and will affect boot.
    2. Remember that at the login screen, the disable/remap is not active. So your password now has to be all caps and only letters.
    As soon as I can save some money, I will get my topcase and keyboard replaced but until then this solution works great with minimal change. Hope this helps!

  • HT201317 I am now on I Cloud. How do I keep my photos on my I Pad?

    I Am now on I Cloud, how do I keep my photos on my I Cloud?

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    If you are talking about your device lock password, then the only thing that can help is the user-created device lock password. There is no "master" or "override" password...only the password you created, entered exactly correctly (including all ALT, NUM, or SYM key modification uses) can unlock it and prevent the wipe.
    If you have previously attached to a PC and know now to type your password on the PC keyboard, then you can do that and the counter will reset...it's the same device lock password counter regardless of which method of entry you use.
    Good luck!
