Overrides in Side by Side Migration

I'm in the process of performing a side by side migration from 2007 R2 to 2012 R2.  I'm at the step where I'm exporting all of my unsealed MP's from 2007 and importing them into 2012 R2.  My concern is that I have not yet multi-homed all of my
agents yet, so I was wondering if importing an MP w/ overrides for an agent that 2012 R2 does not know about may confuse things.
My question is, do I need to multi-home the agents before importing the unsealed MP's?

When you export all unsealed MP and imports it into new SCOM 2012 R2 environment, you need not to multi-home your agent before importing the unselaed MP.
Monitors, rules and its coreesponding overrides are stored in SCOM database when a corresponding MP is imported int the SCOM. When SCOM calculated the effective monitor / rule of the enetity, it will evaluate all relevance monitor, rules and its overrides.

  • New feature that need to be considered sisde by side migration

    Hya,
We are going to migrate from sccm 2007 to 2012.
we have one primary site in our 2007 environment and no others. one site server and sql backend
we have approx 1000 user so no need to create additional primary sites in 2012.
but we do have 20-30 remote sites using a 1mb dsl line to the main office. only 2-3 pcs at these sites.
I was thinking of building the new environment single server also and backend sql server. then migrating the clients by doing side by side migration.
one thing that im not sure about is the "USER-CENTRIC" functionality of sccm 2012-->if I do a side by side migration then the new system 2012 will not be setup for this feature and will be targetting collections of devices.
Can someone give me some pointers in the best way to migrate?
    cheers Mike

You don't need to worry about this to carry out the migration. You are migrating devices so continue what you are doing.
When you start using ConfigMgr 2012 configure Active Directory User Discovery. Then you can create user collections and configure deployments to target users.

  • SCOM Side By Side Migration from 2007 to 2012

We current have SCOM 2007R2 (6.1.7221) installed and we plan to install SCOM 2012 R2 (latest release) in a side-by-side migration.  If we deploy the SCOM 2012R2 Client to existing systems being monitored, can we multi-home the clients to both SCOM 2007R2
and SCOM 2012R2? Are there any version requirements or issues that we could face during the migration since we on (6.1.7221)?
Again, this is a side by side migration path and not an upgrade to the SCOM 2007 servers. :) I see other forum topics almost just like this, but don't see any supporting documentation.

  • 2012 SP1 to 2012 R2 side-by-side migration?

    Hello
    Is it possible/supported to migrate from 2012 SP1 to 2012 R2 side-by-side?
Reason for wanting this is to upgrade the Server OS at the same time from 2012 to 2012 R2 and avoid the backup/restore DB process.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I agree with Torsten the backup/restore scenario is much easier than migrating to a new site.

  • Problem migrating user account SID

    Problem migrating user account SID
I’m trying to migrate user accounts SID from a Windows 2003 domain to a Windows 2008 domain using the command line admt.exe. There is a trust between the 2 domains and I’m able to migrate a user account using admt 3.1 wizard including SID. The wizard asks me for a user account in the source domain with administrative right for the SID migration.  In the wizard I use the same credentials as my current session. This works fine!!
But, when I’m using the command line “admt user” in an administrative cmd box i’m not prompted for any credentials in the source domain.  My current credentials have the proper right in the source domain so that should not be any problem but admt is not able to migrate the user SID and gives the following error:
ERR2:7615 SID History cannot be updated for xxxxx. You must be an administrator in the source domain
    Any ideas ??

I to am seeing this error - running on a Target DC.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 to SCCM 2012 R2 - Side by Side

    Hi Friends,
Currently our SCCM infrastructure is running with a CAS site, 2 Primary Sites and 8 Secondary sites with SCCM 2012 SP1. Now we want to update this infrastructure from SCCM 2012 SP1 to 2012 R2. But we want remove CAS site and to keep only single Primary Site.
Can this be done in Side by Side migration from SCCM 2012 SP1 to SCCM 2012 R2 ? If yes then please suggest how to migrate all data (Packages/Clients) from SCCM 2012 SP1 to new infra on SCCM 2012 R2.
    Thanks in advance.

You don't have many (supported) options here. Detaching a site is not possible, so indeed your only option left is to migrate. Problem here is that the supported scenario is from a ConfigMgr 2012 R2 site to a ConfigMgr 2012 R2 site (see:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682006.aspx). That means you should first upgrade your old environment before you can start with your migration.

    Hello All,
       Case 1 -In place upgrade
I would like to do in place upgrade from windows 2003 64 bit R2 that contains SSRS 2008 to windows 2008 R2 64 bit. The upgrade would be happened at OS level not at SSRS level.
I would like to know what are the  necessary steps should be taken  prior/during/post  upgrade from SSRS end  as we can not rollback if there is some issue with in place upgrade.
      Case 2-Side by side upgrade
I would like to do side by side migration from windows 2003 32 bit  that contains SSRS 2008 to windows 2008 R2 64 bit. The side by side  would be happened at both OS level and  SSRS level.

  • Migrating from Oracle to SQL Server - data won't migrate but no errors

I'm attempting to migrate a database from an Oracle 11g (11.1.0.7.0 64-bit) database to a SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.50.4033.0).  I'm using SSMA, and the Oracle tool was installed on the target SQL Server by the DBA.  I've completed all the steps up
to and including synchronizing the database, and the empty tables all exist in SQL Server.  When I run the step to migrate the data, I get:
    Migrating data...
    Analyzing metadata...
    Preparing table POLICYS.LOGINS...
    Preparing data migration package...
    Starting data migration Engine
    Starting data migration...
    Data migration operation has finished.
        0 table(s) successfully migrated.
        0 table(s) partially migrated.
        1 table(s) failed to migrate.
Then a summary box appears, and there is a red X next to the table (I'm trying to just convert 1 small table to begin with.)  What immediately appears to be wrong is that the "To" table is blank.
I've attempted this multiple times, different tables (initially tried all tables) and tried both Server Side and Client Side migrations with the same result.  There are no errors or warnings on the Error List.
I've found another online post where the user had the same issue, but in that instance they fixed it by changing the case of the table name. I tried that, but it didn't help.  I'm not sure what is wrong that it won't migrate any data.  Any help
    is appreciated.  TIA
    -George

  • Migrating Data from MySQL to SQL Server 2012

    Hi all,
I'm Migrating a database from MySQL to SQL Server 2012, using SSMA for MySQL v5.2.1258.  I've got the schema migrated over and have resolved any migration issues (stored procedures / views), but when it comes to migrating over the data I'm just hitting
    a wall.
None of the data is migrating and when the migration report is displayed every table has a red x against it's Status.  The Output box has the following:
    Data migration operation has finished.
    0 table(s) successfully migrated.
    0 table(s) partially migrated.
    64 table(s) failed to migrate.
I've seen on the forum that someone else was having the same problem
    (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlservermigration/thread/b835f4b3-3d93-42a4-9b6b-d21d3dfd8dab/)
I've set the project settings mode to default, still getting the same error and tried using both Client Side Data Migration and Server Side migration, with both giving the same result.  I've tried going through the step-by-step blog as well.
I am doing something really stupid?  There are 64 tables, so don't really want to try doing exports from each table and importing it into the new database.
    Hope someone can help.
    Cheers
    Alex

  • Types of SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 Migration

    Hi all,
Can i know what are the different types of migration we can do from sccm 2007 to sccm 2012 ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
There are now in-place upgrade so the only option you have is side-by-side migration. Install the new Configuration Manager 2012 infrastructure and migrate you objects, client e.t.c to all the new CM 2012 site server.
Here is a link that will get you started:

  • Migrating form 2005 to 2014

What is best practice for migrating?  Should I us the wizard and on install have it update the exiting SQL or should I install a new instance and then migrate each database individually?
If I make a second install and have them run side by side until all databases are moved is there a way to switch which database instance is the default instance.  Up till now the data source connection was simply the server name, if I install a second
the connection is now servername\instance name.  Not that this is a huge deal but I prefer the simple server name.  I have looked at the alias but I have been unable to get it to work.  I look at the new instance, TCP/IP is
listening all.  I open the alias and enter the dynamic port, the server name and the alias name but when I try to connect using the alias it can not find the instance.
I am working on our test server now and have not progress very far so if it is better to do an in place upgrade I could uninstall SQL 2014 and then run the install again.

    Hello,
One main point to decide between "in-place" and a "side-by-side" migration is if you can have a down time of SQL Server. An in-place migration requires a down time of at least 30 min or more, while side-by-side could be done more smoothly,
but it may requires modification of connection strings of application to point to the new named instance.

  • Migrating Headstart to Headstart for Applications

We have an application built using Headstart. Now we want to
integrate it with applications and use AOL.
We thought in changing Headstart templates and libraries for
Headstart for Apps templates and libraries. If we do this, we
will have to change all the calls to QMS$ routines form AQMS$
routines (if possible), or make new QMS$ libraries to call

Do you know if someone has done this job before ??? Is there any

    Thanks in advance!

    Raymond,
I am currently trying to migrate designer 2.1.2 on Oracle database 8.0.5 to
designer 6i on Oracle database 8.1.7 with headstart 2.1.2 and I am having great difficulties.
I understand that I need to apply patch 10,11,12, and 13 on headstart 2.1.2 to make it compatible with designer 6i.
I am just uncertain about the order of installations I need to take for a successful migration.
Can someone kindly help me with the following issues?:
    1. Should I apply patch 10,11,and 12 on the current designer 2.1.2 repository before migrating it to designer 6i.
Yes. And you will apply patch 13 after the migration to designer 6i.
    2. Do I need to run headstart server side installation for the migration. If so, should I run it before the designer repository migration (i.e just after I install the new designer 6i repository) or should I run it after the migration.
You do need to migrate the server side as well. You can do the client side install of patch 10, 11 and 12, and then do the server side migration. Then, upgrade to Designer 6i. Patch 13 is applied by importing a dump file into Designer 6i and then following the instructions to download the new sources and apply the server side changes.
    3. My understanding is that headstart uses a set headstart specific ofgtel,ofgnavl,..libraries from headstart home/hst/admin
However I am unable to find those in the folder, is there a patch or download side for it?
With Patch 13, we supplied copies of a number of the ofg libraries with bug fixes and workarounds for problems discovered in Designer 6i release 1. However, if you are up to date on Designer 6i, all of those issues have been resolved, so you can just use the regular libraries supplied by Designer.

  • Collecting USMT data to State Migration point without imaging.

Hey can anyone help out with this.  We are trying to capture user data from one workstation to another using the SCCM and USMT.  It works great...for in place  migration, but here is the scenerio:
user Bob, gets a new workstation, he wants to back all of the data up from the old workstation to the new workstation.  From what I can see as of right now, the only way to do that is to reimage it with USMT,  and then associate the computer within
SMP in the console to the new workstation.
Is there a way I can just boot the OS into PE capture the data to the SMP and go from there?
    Hope that made sense.
    Thanks

You've just described a side-by-side migration and your assumption is almost correct.
    This is the process:
    1. Create computer association between old & new
    2. Create TS with USMT capture to SMP (custom task sequence with USMT only)- deploy to old (you don't have to re-image the old computer - just capture the data)
    3. Create TS with OSD and UMST restore - deploy to new

  • Recommendations for SCOM 2012 -- 2012 R2 migration

Hello to all. I have a customer that has SCOM 2012 in its IT environment but uses it barely and does not have any documentation. I proposed to install a new Manament Group (MG) and "reboot" to a paralell SCOM 2012 R2 considering the
use of new features present on 2012 R2.
       Questions:
1- Does SCOM support a side by side migration strategy , like SCCM 2007 R2 --> SCCM 2012 R2 that takes its main source objects and bring them to the new separated Management Group (the SCOM 2012 R2)?
2- Considering that all regular member servers are monitored by SCOM 2012 (all have agents installed), what is the recommended way to to install SCOM 2012 R2 agents on them (multi homed deploy, deploy a new agent and it will upgrade/remove the
    already existing SCOM 2012, etc)?
3- Does SCOM allows a approach to install a SCOM 2012 R2 on already existing SCOM 2012 MG and "migrate" its objects to new server and after that decomission SCOM 2012 (the old version)?
Your inputs and references will be very welecomed.
