Overrides on Styles for Imported files

I am importing word docs into InDesign to apply formatting and layout but it is applying overrides to the styles. Is there a way to import without overrides?

Clearly there is a typo there. It should be either this -
.heading a:link {
(leading dot for heading - no SPACE after the colon)
or this -
#heading a:link {
depending on whether there is a custom class or an ID
selector being used to
identify the container for the link.

URGENT... lost connectivity to Imovie for importing files/projects

Hi and thanks for reading this... I'm slightly above beginner technically, and have assumed a job/role video editing where video files (AVCHD) are imported from Imovie into CS4 on a Mac. Yesterday a dialogue box appeared in the clips bin of CS4, top left, stating "connectivity" was lost (I assume that refers to the link between Imovie and CS4) and to click a button within that window to restore it. Mutliple attempts did nothing.
Subsequently, I now can't re-load existing CS4 projects created from files imported from Imovie, nor can I import clips from Imovie into CS4. (The clips still exist in Imovie, but they won't load into CS4. When I attempt to import, the "import" progress bar appears and completes, but nothing appears in CS4. Also, when attempting to load existing projects created in CS4, not only will they not load, but a different project will suddenly attempt to load in place of the project I attempted to load in.
Of course, several deadlines are breathing down my neck, so any help is very much appreciated. Cheers, Norm

General Error for Importing files in Premiere Pro CS6

I have used the adobe Premiere Pro since it's inception, and haven't had this problem with it's persistency before. I've scoured the net looking for an answer and haven't been able to find one.
So, the issue is that common one: "importer reported a generic error".
This is a MacBook Pro computer.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the software, the computer has been cleaned and there shouldn't be any remnants of previous versions, etc. I have also downloaded the functional content from Adobe.
Downloading the functional content, this time, only fixed some of the importing errors. First, it was most of the files, if not all of my media files, from DVDs that could not be imported. (These are My DVDs with My original footage.) Now, after downloading the content files, I have about half of the files as imported no problem, and the other half remain the same.
Is there any answer out there for this particular fix? Thanks for the help!

4 hours sounds about right for this source material on such a system. Better hardware may be needed to reduce the exporting time or you have to convert the source material to a less demanding format.

Apple Loops Utility does not work at all for imported file

I have imported an MP3 into Logic Pro 8, which converts it to an AIFF file, and am trying to configure the project to sync to that tracks tempo. From what I understand, I do this by opening it in the ALU and having it add tempo information to the file.
My problem is that when I open the file in the ALU, and I have version 2.0.1, literally almost NOTHING works. I can hit the play/stop/jump to start buttons and they work. However, the volume control does nothing. Likewise, the Tempo slider as well as the transpose dropdown don't do anything.
On the Transients tab, the Transient Division dropdown and Sensitivity slider are grayed out. Since I've never used this tool before, I would assume that this is how I get the utility to detect the beats in the song. The waveform view just shows the song waveform, with no markers as it does if I open an Apple Loop.
If I switch to the Tags tab, ever single checkbox is grayed out. Finally, if I go to the file menu, all Save options are grayed out.
My first thought, is of course, that I'm just an idiot and that I don't know what I'm doing. However, in searching the forum, I found this post from a year ago where someone is complaining about what seems to be the exact same problem, and they did not receive a single response.

In case you are importing a whole track you won't get the results you are expecting with ALU....
Under *File Type* in the Tags tab select Looping so that the Transients Division and the rest of the settings be active.

how can I get LR 5 to filter files by size on import or in a collection? ie exclude anything under 1 mb

During Import? You cannot. You can filter it using a smart collection after import by megapixel and remove the files if you want but you cannot filter it by megabyte as you are asking - at least not without a third party plugin.

Script for importing files, distributing them to layers, and cutting length?

Hi, is it possible to import a sequentially numbered set of .psd files and then automatically distribute them to their individual layers and cut them each to a specified length of say 4 seconds, timing them to be visible one after another?
I'm working with a series of storyboard panels and would just like to lay them out in After Effects' timeline sequentially, so they would be visible one after the other...is there a script or action to automate this? Thanks

when I try to download a file. avi, a message appears saying:"the software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system. installing

We'll need a lot more detail about that AVI file. See this ARTICLE to get an idea of the problems that can exist and also some background on AVI's (and MPEG's and MOV's).
The problem will likely be with your particular AVI file - not all are created equal.

Monitor folder for importing files

Does iTunes have a feature similiar to MS Media Player that will monitor a selected folder and automatically import any new music?

yes I am not sure if you have to enable it or not, but there are little folders named like '90's songs' or 'top 25 most played', or 'top rated' that put songs that belong to these categories in the folder.

Trying to find the prefs for importing text (retainFormat)

In my (model only) plugin wich only deals with custom data link, I'm trying to find the last chosen user preference for things like 'retainFormat' for importing files.
What I want is my plugin to do exactly the same as when a text file is dragged from the desktop, but then from my own source.
Everything works just fine, except for the options in 'IImportManagerOptions'.
I can't figure out a way to get to these. Is that only available for UI plugins?

The Time Capsule was designed to be used for Time Machine backups, but can equally be used for storage. Like any network storage device it is relatively reliable. However, you should always have a good backup strategy for important files.

Data transfer rates "into" the Time Capsule are dependent on a number of factors. Which factors depend on the original source of the files. Regardless, the common factors will be the TC's internal hard drive interface and data write speeds of the drive itself.

The only supported way is WebUI or WCF API.
If you are looking for import file in TSQL, there is no supported way.
There are udpFileSave and udpFileGet can be used to access tblFile table. But after it, it is still difficult to set the file id into member file attribute.

ls * is lists all the files in the directory. If you want to be more specific and if you yhink tat your data folder may contain more files then you can use "ls *.txt" if your file extension to load is txt.
Well I haven't tested this as I am on vacation...So you can just follow the similar way.

Importing files with embedded IPTC metadata - Workaround?

I was hoping the the "metadata improvments" that Apple delivered with Aperture v.1.1 would include the ability to import legacy files with IPTC and XMP metadata embedded by Photoshop, iView, Photo Mechanic, and other similar programs.
Unless I am missing something that ability is still not a part of the Aperture program.
I really like Aperture and think Apple has got many things right in the new program. I would like to make it my primary tool for digital image management. That would require the ability to read into the Aperture Library the metadadta written by other programs.
Does anyone have a workaround for importing files that lets other programs IPTC tags be imported or connected with the files.

I think your problem is likely that you have the option to stack the copy with the original turned on. First, right-click on one of these photos and go to the stacking menu. If Unstack is not grayed out then you have a stack -- select Unstack to reveal all copies.
To change the automatic stacking of edited copies from Photoshop, when you next choose to edit a file, in the bottom left corner of the dialog is the check box for unstacking. Clear it, and that choice should "stick" until you change it again.

How to format .m3u files for import? Or is there a spec. for .zpl playlis

I currently create all my playlists through SlimServer (www.slimdevices.com). The result is .m3u playlists. I'd like to use these same playlists on my Vision M without having to recreate all of them. Writing a script to tweak what the structure of the .m3u is no problem. I've tried the method described here: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=0837
with no luck. Within MediaSource Organizer, I drag my imported playlist into an existing playlist on my Zen, but I always get "Error" or "Rejected" for each entry in the playlist. I think I may not be formatting the paths correctly in the .m3u. The styles of entries I've used include (folder structure below matches what is on the player):

But I'd have to know the format of the .zpl file, and if I was able to create one, would I be able to drag-and-drop it into my playlists in Creative Media Explorer? Any ideas here?

Just tested an .m3u playlist that looks exactly like this:
(start file)
C:\Ben Allison\2006 Cowboy Justice\0 Tricky **bleep**.mp3
(end file)
That mp3 exists on C. The same file exists on my ZVM with the same directory structure underneath "Music." I copy the m3u playlist to my device using MediaSource Organizer--the playlist is transferred, but the file is copied to my player again! So now I have two copies of "Tricky **bleep**.mp3" on my player. The new one is copied to the ZVM in a different directory based on its tags (artist\album\track). This is definitely not what I want.
All I want is to copy over the miniscule playlist files, nothing else. Is this at all possible? And if so, what should the playlist files look like? I was hoping that I'd be able to easily synchronize my home player's playlists (Squeezebox) with the playlists on my ZVM, but this is not looking promising...
