Overriding Bookmark Zoom settings in Adobe Reader XI

Hi.
I work at a company that uses preset bookmarks to navigate very large Adobe files that are hundreds of pages in length. I have set my Page Display Zoom level at 75%, and have also checked the "Always use Zoom Setting" set at 75% in the Override Page Display section of the Accesibility menu as well. When I open a file, the initial zoom level reflects these settings. However, upon clicking on a bookmark in the navigation bar, the zoom level changes to the zoom level set for the bookmark. The override settings I set in Accessibility do not work on the bookmark settings, and I have to resize every time I click a bookmark. Is there a way in Adobe Reader XI to override these settings? Thank you!

Hi again
I have read the article, but I can still not find the plugin I should
disable in Internet Explorer 8.
If I see a PDF-file in my browser, I can select and disable a plugin called
PDF Adobe Reader, but next time I open Internet Explorer 8, I not can see
the plugin.
Another method is between the guide for accessibility
(edit>Accessibility>Setup Assistant. On screen number 4, you can find the
checkbox.
Since I am blind, I can find the assistant.
For my interessting, it is possible for sighted users of Adobe Reader to
find the same assistant?
Very thanks.
Regards
Boholdt

    Hey Vicky,
Using Adobe Reader on your iPAD, you cannot add new bookmarks.
But, you can navigate bookmarks in the PDF added by the author.

  • How do I change my security settings in Adobe Reader to allow me to add my electronic signature?

I am trying to fill out a job application that requires me to type my signature, but it will not enter.  When I go to File-Properties-Security, it says signing is "Not Allowed".  How can I change this to allow signing?  Thanks you so much.

  • Default settings in adobe reader 9 may cause colors to shift error

Upon printing a color document to PS printer, Adobe reader 9
    gives the following message:
Obviously, one cannot see the options but... Top appears to do nothing, nothing prints. Middle you get print, bottom no print. One of these has to be a fix button chosing this and restarting adobe results in the same message again. If you check do not show this box, it never prints and you don't get this option to select the middle choice that makes it work. So, my question is, what is this dialog changing, and why won't it hold it's value? If the box never appears again, what configuration option do we need to change to get the file to print?

I am getting the exact same issue, could someone please explain what is happening here.
    Thank you.

  • Override default print options in Adobe reader

    Hello Adobe support team,
Can you please provide the possible ways to override the print options that comes by default. In the below snapshot marked in red green and blue are the ones that we want to be set as default print options for a selected document instead of users setting it for each document.
    Please help!

All permanent print options are set from the Printer Control Panel without being in the printer setup from within the application.

  • Is it possible to bookmark pages in the Adobe reader app for iPad?

I cannot see a way of doing this. If not, it would be a good functionality to have.

It IS a good functionality to have. Unfortunately, Reader IS NOT an editor and doesn't have it. Only Acrobat Professional can add bookmarks to a PDF.

  • How do I bookmark in Adobe reader touch?

How do I bookmark in adobe reader touch?  I have the surface pro.  When I swipe from the side I only have the search, share, start, devices and settings icons.

Adobe Reader Touch does not support adding new custom/personalized bookmarks to pages yet.
Currently, Adobe Reader Touch supports viewing pre-existing bookmarks that have been created by the author of a given PDF document. If a PDF document has bookmarks, Reader Touch shows the Bookmarks button on the right side of the top toolbar.
The users of Adobe Reader for iOS/Android have requested the capability of adding new custom/personalized bookmarks as well.  We are planning to add the capability to a future release of Adobe Reader Touch. But we cannot commit to a specific date for the release at this point.

I found a info in a other Info-Forum, but i dont want to use the registry-hack tipp, and this guy use Win7.

Yes, we have seen this a couple of times here in the forum; it occurs only on Vista and Windows 7.
It seems someone has found that creating a new user profile fixes the problem.

  • Adobe Reader Printing first page miniature - rest fine

    Hi,
Currently running Reader 11.0.07 and am having a printing issue similar to the below known issue in Reader X.
"Xerox printers shrink page content to 1/10 or 1/20 of the original size, and print the content in the upper left part of the paper. This behavior occurs when both of these options are selected in the Print dialog box: Choose Paper Source By PDF Page Size and Use Custom Paper Size When Needed. [2392553]"
Is there any timeline for the issue to be resolved?

    Hi,
Additionally the driver being used is a KM C360 PS 3.6.0.0 and the Postscript pass through mode is enabled.
When testing and disabling the pass through mode of the driver being used (XC, FX, Lemark ....) the first page (also including mixed paper size) is rendered correctly for the entire document output.
Looking at the PS generated output for the KM driver in pass through mode has a difference between the prescript for the first page and any others following:
Example - First page A4 size generates the following.
    %%BeginPageSetup
    /ovlsetup [ 72 600 V 0 0 -72 600 V 12 830 ] def
    /tabsetup [ 72 600 V 0 0 -72 600 V 0 841 ] def

    %%EndPageSetup
Note that the concat override is not specified (including matrix).
Removing this line "[1 0 0 -1 0 842 ]ct" allows the document to correctly render in the correct orientation but the scale and transform are not specified corectly.
Page 2 shows that an additional difference is made by Reader in pass through mode:
    8.33333 8.33333 scale
    -12 -12 translate
If replacing the first page prescript (above) with the following PS code the job correctly (Page 1):
    %%BeginPageSetup

    Adobe_AGM_Core/capture_mysetup gx

    %[1 0 0 -1 0 842 ]ct

    Adobe_AGM_Image/ps gx
    Adobe_AGM_Image/pt gx
    Adobe_CoolType_Core/pt get exec
    Adobe_AGM_Core/pt gx
    currentdict Adobe_AGM_Utils eq {end} if
    %%EndPageSetup
Note that the issue is only generated by the printing through a driver in pass through mode. Setting print as image is not an option as the produced spool file is to large.
Additionally, the paper size cannot be resized and must have the (above) option set during printing - any other permutations of the "Size" options during printing cause issues during printing (e.g. A3 -> A4 or mixed A4/3 -> A4).
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    Helen

Oops, I forgot to NOTE: this only happens when I'm printing a pdf from online.  If I'm printing from a saved file from my computer adobe reader works just fine. so it's something with the settings of adobe reader and my browser.  I use chrome, always have and I'm just now experiencing issues these past couple of weeks.  I'm sure it's just a simple little box to check or uncheck or something, so I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction.
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Reader default resolution is 110 pixels/inch!?

I have a PC with a 15" LCD, and Windows XP.
Operating system's DPI setting is 96.
I've Installed Adobe Reader and the default setting is 110 pixel/inch (Edit -> Preferences -> Page Display -> Resolution)
This setting makes all images in the pdf I've created blurry.
I don't understand why the default behaviour is to override the OS setting which makes images in pdf files look bad!?

    Thanks for the reply.
What's the resolution setting in your installation of Adobe Reader?
I'm actually converting .docx files to pdf.
In Word the pics look great (!00% zoom), but in Adobe Reader they look bigger and blurred (100% zoom).
Then I change the Adobe Reader's resolution to 'use system setting' and pics in reader start to look good too.
I can't force everyone that views the pdf to change the Reader's resolution setting. Whan can I do?

  • Duplex printing in adobe reader XI

    Ladies and Gentlemen,
I write because I have a problem with two-sided printing PDF files in Adobe Reader XI.
    Summary of the problem:
When printing a PDF file that contains two pages I select the option "Print on both sides of the paper" parameters "by Flip on Long Edge" and the orientation of the "Auto. Vertical / horizontal. The result of these operations, when I print. Is that the first page prints correctly. On the back of the cards are printed the information from the second page in the correct format, but with the information from the first in a unique way, namely by me look as if they were printed in a mirror image.
Prior to printing that is done smoothly, printed data to improve on the first and on the other side. Unfortunately, I am unable to say what was the turning point after which it changed, because I'm not a direct user of this computer. The printer supports duplex printing function, of course. Other programs such as Word office document are printing correctly on both sides as expected.
The steps that I took to correct the problem:
    1. Restart your computer.
    2. Restart the printer.
    3. Re-install the program Adobre Reader.
    4. The use of different combinations of print settings in Adobe Reader.
    The type of computer:
    -Computer PC.
    -Operating-System: Windows XP SP3.
-Printer Connected directly to the computer using the USB cable.
    Sincerely

Thanks for the option.  It did work setting the print as image on.  Does this mean there is something wrong with how the PDF was created or that Adobe Reader is just having a problem reading it?

  • Internet Explorer ONLY passes parameters to Adobe Reader plugin for hosted files, not local

    WORKS:
    <embed src="http://host.com/test.pdf#page=5"/>
    FAILS:
    <embed src="test.pdf#page=5"/>
Both code snippets above work when the HTML file is hosted (IIS / Apache).  My web-app needs to be able to run from a USB memory stick and work with IE9.  The #page param is required for a core feature of the app.
Parameters after the # are passed correctly to the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox for offline files, eg: file:///C:/test.htm.  The documentation only describes hosted examples: http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdf_open_parameters.pdf
I have tried the <object> route as well with similar results, eg: http://pdfobject.com/
I have burned over 8 hours looking for a solution. I have tried any logical settings in Adobe Reader X, and with the security zones in IE.  I am not very familiar with IE security zones, but I suspect it could be related to my issue.  I can specify the end-user change any browser or plugin settings as an acceptable solution.

I am developing a hybrid web-application that needs to work both offline (entire website) and in a hosted environment.  A key part of the product is displaying PDF's with a dynamic index outside of the PDF. This allows us to use PDF's collected from hundreds of contractors, clients and manufacturers and combine them into one searchable product with a consistent interface.  I can specify product requirements including IE browser settings, installed plug-ins etc. I am not trying to cater to a wide audience such as everyone online, but a specific one that is spending $5k-30k for a custom resource.
I expect the limiation is due to a wide cast net regarding security.  I tried every setting in IE and essentially fully disabling all security options did not resolve it.
I found a solution, by accessing the ActiveX object directly you can use the exposed classes described here: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/w whelp.htm?context=Acrobat9_HTMLHelp&file=IAC_API_OLE_Objects.103.167.html
    Javascript:
    var pdfO = document.getElementById('pdfObj');
    pdfO.setCurrentPage(pageNumber);
    HTML:
    <OBJECT id ="pdfObj" data="test.pdf" TYPE="application/pdf">
        <a href="test.pdf">Fall-back code</a>
    </OBJECT>
This actually works much faster as well, since the plugin doesn't need to be re-drawn in the DOM

  • Change navigation bar Adobe Reader plugin on Mavericks 10.9.5

I have installed the latest version of Acrobat Reader on my Mavericks 10.9.5.
I'm using safari browser with adobe reader plug in to read PDF document in web viewer.
A few months ago I have noticed that the navigation bar / toolbar is different from what is used to be on Adobe Reader in safari.
In the original navigation bar there was more options.
How can I change it back to the default navigation bar to look like this?

You need to go into the Safari>Preferences>Security>Manage Web Site settings,
    Select Adobe Reader
Set Allow  Always for all web sites.

  • 3rd Party Software Not Seeing That Adobe Reader XI Is Installed.

I have a few pieces of (custom) software that with previous versions of Adobe Reader (7, 8, 9, and X), would open Adobe Reader automatically when selecting to open a PDF from within the software.
When the pc's were updated to Reader XI, the software no longer sees that Reader is installed, therefore will not open the PDF files as it should.
I have since rolled the pc's back to Reader X and the software works, but I would like to get XI working due to some needed features in XI.
Is there something within the Adobe Reader XI install that is different, or in  different location from previous versions? (i.e. different registry key locations, some Reader files installed to different locations, etc?)
If anyone knows something that did change, I may be able to work with the 3rd party developers and get this resolved.
    Please let me know.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
I just solved this problem on my computer.
Windows 7 comes with only one "Voice" installed. "Microsoft Anna - English (United States)" I'm not sure what you get if your in another country.
You can test your "Voice/Voices" by running Microsoft Narrator. Click [Start] button and type "Narrator" in the [search programs and files] box. Press [Enter]. Your computer should begin talking. Click [Voice Settings] button to see a list of installed voices. Take note of the voices listed. "Mine has just the one."
Adobe Reader must have a voice selected that you have installed. To verify your settings Run Adobe Reader. From the top menu click [Edit] then click [Preferences] at the bottom of the list. In the Preferences window click [Reading] from the left hand list. Find "Read Out Loud Options" Un-check [Use default voice] Choose a voice from the drop down menu that you have verified is installed on your computer. Click [OK]
My Adobe Reader had 4 voices listed to choose from. I found this curious because I only have one voice.
    Hope that helps.
