Overriding the Eclipse runtime classpath

Hi All,
We have been playing about with connectors to Exchange from within OpenScript (as one does on a Monday afternoon). When I compose a standalone java program my example works really well, but when I run this in OpenScript i get the following exception:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.jdom.output.XMLOutputter .......
Now, I have done some searching on this and the outcome is that the wrong jdom.jar is being referenced. So I went searching for these naughty files and found the following installed as part of OATS.
G:\oracle\OATS93\agent\plugins\oracle.oats.jagent.lib3rdparty_2.6.0.0272\lib\jdom.jar
G:\oracle\OATS93\lib\jdom.jar
G:\oracle\OATS93\openScript\plugins\oracle.oats.jagent.lib3rdparty_2.6.0.0272\lib\jdom.jar
G:\oracle\OATS93\openScript\plugins\oracle.oats.scripting.modules.webService.lib3rdparty_2.6.0.0272\jdom.jar
Now I have my own jdom.jar file located in h:\JEC\bin. So I add this as a script asset, and the above exception still occurs.
So I do a little digging with procmon.exe (from sysinternals....don't leave home without them), and notice that both jdom.jar from above are reference i.e:
G:\oracle\OATS93\openScript\plugins\oracle.oats.jagent.lib3rdparty_2.6.0.0272\lib\jdom.jar
G:\oracle\OATS93\openScript\plugins\oracle.oats.scripting.modules.webService.lib3rdparty_2.6.0.0272\jdom.jar
when I run the script, which I find a little perculiar, as it also touches my own jar file.
So, just to satisfy my own curiosty, I back up the openscript jdom.jar and replace them with my own jdom.jar, and hey presto my sciript works, but openscript starts behaving very strangely.
So, my question is how do you override the runtime classpath settings from OpenScript to include my Jar file first, and not what is needed for OpenScript?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Wayne

Hi Wayne,
You can't do this is OpenScript apparently. Packaging up the third party jar into a new generic jar didn't work either, so you'll need to use a different utility that doesn't clash with the libs on which OpenScript depends.
Cheers,
Jamie

The CLASSPATH is not the same as the PATH. It is similar but a classpath is a set of directories or jar files that Java uses to look for executable code and resources.
Assuming you are using the example start-cache-server.cmd file that comes with the .Net examples to start your server you can put the tangosol-coherence-override.xml file into the C:\Program Files\Oracle\Coherence for .NET\examples\ContactCache.Java\config directory as this is on the classpath when using that script.

  • NDS 2.0.9 - Exception Launching the Eclipse Platform

I have installed Netweaver Developer Studio 2.0.9 and am getting the following error in the log file when I attempt to launch Developer Studio.
On the same machine I have also installed the entire WAS, Portals and KM stack 9.  All of these are running well.
Any help is appreciated.  I am new to Java and this Developer Studio.  I have done some searching on SDN, SAP notes and the internet and have the impression that I am missing some reference in a path statement or something similar but have not run into anything similar enough to help me determine what exactly I'm doing wrong.
Again, any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hi Paula,
this is the most basic java exception everybody of us has seen in the beginning years of java a lot (classpath). Because of that applications of today all have their ways to get around this in any case. The only reason I see is that your installation went wrong.
Please install again and check the messages you get there attentively.

  • Error: The Java Runtime in use does not contain a suitable JAXP feature

    Hi,
I'm trying to get Eclipse TPTP to work. One of the steps I need to execute is to run a setConfig.bat file. When I ran it, I got the following error:
ERROR: The Java Runtime in use does not contain a suitable JAXP feature
RESOLUTION: Use a JRE which supports the JAXP featureI use Eclipse Europa, and it is using my JDK (actually JRE) 1.6.0_05. That should mean I have JAXP in my JRE (which is confirmed when I search on JAXP from the directory C:\Program Files\Java containing jdk1.6.5_05 and jre1.6.5_05 directories).
Is there something extra I need to do to let Eclipse and TPTP find my JAXP classes?
    TIA,
    Abel

    Hi,
Even i am getting the same error but i use JRE 1.5.0_14. please let me know if you happen to resolve this.

Hi,I downloaded JRC plug-in and realized there are 47 jar files for CR. Now I'm wondering how many of these 47 files are being use when running CR from Java? My Java application resides on a server and users access the application thru web start. If users have to download all 47 jar files every time they run the application, it would su*k for them very much. Now does anyone know which jar files are actually being use during execution? The document here http://support.businessobjects.com/communityCS/TechnicalPapers/cr_xi_r2_jrc_deployment.pdf.asp told me that I only need about 20 or so of them. • I need to download the server runtime for BEA WEBLOGIC server

    Hi ^^,
I am trying to create a web project in Eclipse WTP europa. I do not have the bea weblogic server installed on my desktop. My organization has issues running it locally. I need to first create a project and then create a war and then deploy it on server.
I am going through the tutorial at the following website:
    http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/community/tutorials/BuildJ2EEWebApp/BuildJ2EEWebApp.html
It says "To do this tutorial you will need a server runtime that is supported by WTP"
Also "During web application development, we will need a server runtime environment to test, debug and run our project".
Hence I need the link where I can download the server runtime for bea weblogic server.

  • How do Mac and Linux find the JFX runtime?

I've been searching the documentation without success for the answer to what ought to be a simple question -- how do I point Mac or Linux at the 2.2 runtime? It's no problem if I'm running in an IDE (NetBeans, e(fx)clipse), where I can tell the IDE where I unpacked the SDK. But what if I want to run a jar file, such as produced by the ant tasks?
You'd think this would work (on Linux, where I unpacked the SDK into /opt):
java -cp /opt/javafx-sdk2.2.0-beta/rt/lib/jfxrt.jar:. -jar MyProgram.jar But it doesn't -- I get a popup saying "This application requires a newer version of the Java runtime. Please download and install the latest Java runtime from java.com. Then restart the application" (I'm running with 1.7.0_05-b05 from Oracle).
The only thing at all close I find in the Linux installation instructions is it says to unpack the samples as a subdirectory of the SDK, wherever I happened to put it, and then I should be able to run the examples with a simple "java -jar filename.jar". But even that's not quite true -- it only works if I first cd to the samples directory. But it's a start, so I tried...
    cd /opt/javafx-sdk2.2.0-beta/rt
java -jar ~/dist/MyProgram.jarThat succeeds in finding the runtime, but my program doesn't work, because it doesn't find my dependent libraries. So I tweaked the command a little bit:
    cd /opt/javafx-sdk2.2.0-beta/rt
java -cp ~/dist/MyProgram.jar -jar ~/dist/MyProgram.jarThat actually works. But it can't possibly be the right answer -- you shouldn't have to run a javafx program with the runtime directory as your working directory.
And even that doesn't work on Mac. There, Java knows how to find the runtime that's installed with JDK 7 update 5 for Mac. But if I want to test a program with the 2.2 runtime, what do I do? Setting -classpath on the command line still uses the 2.1 runtime. And if I try the trick of connecting to javafx-sdk2.2.0-beta/rt first, it doesn't work at all -- it doesn't find my libraries, and it throws up a "java quit unexpectedly" window after getting a segfault.
So what's a developer to do? Am I supposed to use the native packaging procedure instead?

JavaFX 2.2 is first version where Linux/Mac are supported as runtime (and not just SDK).
However, you need to install JavaFX Runtime that is part of JRE 7u6 (you can get beta from jdk7.java.net or wait for FCS version of it).
Installing JRE is the only way to get JavaFX runtime installed on Mac and Linux (and eventually on Windows too).
rt folder in the SDK is "private" copy of the runtime. It is not supposed to be used to run arbitrary JavaFX applications by default.
You can still force to use it as
    java -Djavafx.runtime.path=/opt/javafx-sdk2.2.0-beta/rt/lib/jfxrt.jar -jar MyProgram.jar
    or
    java -cp ~/dist/MyProgram.jar:/opt/javafx-sdk2.2.0-beta/rt/lib/jfxrt.jar com.javafx.main.Main
Note that if you use "-jar" then "-cp" is ignored by java launcher. This is not JavaFX specific behavior.
JavaFX specific part is that properly packaged JavaFX main jar file will include copy of launcher class (com.javafx.main.Main)
and this is what will be run when you double click on jar or use "java -jar". Launcher will try to locate JavaFX runtime to use,
it knows how to find runtime in the SDK if it is sample located in the SDK itself and it also knows how to find installed version of runtime.
If JavaFX is not found then it will show you message you observed.

  • Configuring runtime classpath for portal applications?

    G'day,
I've got a portal application that uses the classes found in system/kernel.jar and system/frame.jar. When I build the portal application in the IDE I can add these to the build path as external jars, but when I run the portal application I get "class not found" errors.
      java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/engine/core/Framework
So ... how do I add these jar files to the portal application's runtime classpath?
    --Geoff

    Hi Geoffrey
Jar files are required in two ways:
For Design time: User external jars(as you have done)
For Run time: Put the jar files in the lib folder(this way the par/ear ) itself will contain the jar files.
Right click the project - >properties->java build path->libraries-> Add Jars (and not Add External Jars)->select your project->dist->PORTAL-INF->lib->select the jar file.
    Hope it helps.

  • Enhancing with the eclipse plugin

Using the eclipse plugin, I include the enhancer within my build process.
This seems to enhance the compiled classes that are in the output folder
    (bin).
Is there any way to make the enhancer get the source classes from the
eclipse classpath (bin) and put the enhanced class files somewhere else?
I need both the enhanced and unenhanced versions of the classes.
    -Chris West

Not at this time. For such complex build processes we recommend using Ant.
