Overriding YouTube Export Time Limits

Hi,
I'd like to use the 1440x1080 preset YouTube output option in PrE10 but it limits me to 15 minutes.
I have a YouTube account that allows uploads of longer than 15 minutes.  Is there a way to override this limit in PrE10?  Or is there a way to recreate a similar output option in say the Flash output settings.
I've been using the 720p flash output settings for my 1440x1080p video but wanted to see how the video looks on youtube if uploaded in the native 1440x1080.
I can't seem to find a way to specify the 1.33:1 aspect ratio in any of the outputs.
Maybe I need to switch to regular premiere to do something like this?
Thanks!
Jeremy

Jeremy,
To utilize the full potential of your YouTube account, just manually Export/Share from PrE, and then manually upload via your account. The direct upload to YouTube from PrE was coded, when there were Duration limits, that have now been expanded. YouTube is a "moving target," and by the time that a program, like PrE, is released, the target has moved again.
As I do very little that goes to YouTube, and have not done any Amamorphic HD, I cannot help with that 1.33 PAR, but others probably can.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Trying to shorten export time

Been trying to export 1920x1080 using h.264 codec for posting on web. I first set up my own Export but took 8 hrs to finish 35%. Been looking at the Apple Devices 720 or 1080 options now. I switch options from Apple Device to Web Hosting but there's no indication of changes in size changes the size and therefore length of time to export (generally). Tho Apple Devices produces a "protected MPEG-4" movie and Web Hosting a "Quicktime" movie.
Any suggestions on choices for export?
    OR
Has anyone had problems withi export time and then solved them? If so, how?
    Any other tips appreciated.

My workflow for a YouTube project is:
Completely render the project before exporting.
Export to whatever the current codec is set for (so... just Export with current settings), typically ProRes 422(HQ) [my general preference established when creating a project] or sometimes ProRes LT and if necessary, ProRes 4444.  It really doesn't matter, when the project is completely rendered and exporting to a ProRes format, the export is about 1/5 to 1/2 run time (about 2 - 5 minutes for every 10 of video -- probably dependent on your storage bandwidth.)
Exporting H.264 for YouTube of Vimeo straight out of FCPX is *absolutely pointless* since FCPX does not offer any quality options (always exports highest quality H.264) and YouTube and others are just going to recompress down to their limit anyway.  I never give YT that opportunity...
I use Quicktime 7 Pro (about 100,000 times easier than compressor [hyperbole]) to transcode to YouTube specifications. The maximum bandwidth YT will "place" is 5Mbps... so I transcode to, at most, 5Mbps.  Turn on Auto Key Frames; Turn off Frame Reordering; Data Rate Restrict to 5000 kbits/sec; Optimize for Streaming; Compressor Quality (max available) to High; Encoding to Best Quality (Multi-pass).  For the Size options, I use the HD settings from the top section (anything below the start of NTSC will create broadcast tv "safe" video [overscan] and will not be completely compatible with digital targets such as YT [it will be smaller].) I also set Preserve Aspect Ratio Using Letterbox (YT used to have problems with 1920x1080 video being a little "squished" vertically to compensate for the transport controls... probably just habit now.)  Audio: Format AAC; Sample Rate 48000; Variable bit rate ~192kbps. And check the Prepare for Internet Streaming checkbox and select Fast Start.  Except for the variable bit rate audio and the letterboxing stuff, these are the specifications YT put down in its documention.
Converting from the ProRes output from FCPX to the H.264 for YT in QT7Pro is actually faster than trying to export H.264 directly out of FCPX (and compressor for that matter...)
I find if you simply change the m4v filletype to .mov, you don't need all the web page stuff that gets generated, you can simply load the video up in a browser from a direct URL.  Exporting to Apple Devices is a quick way to transcode 1080 out of FCPX to the smaller sized 720 video when necessary.
Here's an example of an .m4v Apple Devices video with the filetype manually changed to .mov:
    http://sight-creations.com/video/2.5demo_noPS.mov
Will it upload to YT? Yep: here's the proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH1mIli8EpA (but this one has no audio -- be very careful about the audio settings of what you upload to YT... they don't like Linear PCM [AIFF, WAV, etc... YT wants AAC])

  • Youtube Export Quality

Is the youtube export quality improved in iMovie 09? Is 640x360 still the maximum size for direct upload to youtube?
    Thanks,
    Shawn

Is the youtube export quality improved in iMovie 09?
iMovie has little to do with the end quality of files other than determining the size/duration/quality of the files sent to YouTube. All files sent to YouTube are converted to FLV by Youtube. This conversion by Youtube itself determines the final resolution/quality of your files. If quality is what you seek, then it is probably best to create your own website and post your video at the resolution and level of quality which you can manage yourself. YouTube and similar sites aim for compatibility of viewing -- not quality.
Is 640x360 still the maximum size for direct upload to youtube?
I don't believe there are restrictions on resolution -- just duration (10 minutes) and file size (1 GB). Whatever you upload will be re-compressed to fit in the 1 GB file size limit. Higher quality means shorter times. Larger files usually mean more compression to fit it within the YouTube file size restriction. Your best bet is to review the Help resources area at Youtube.

  • Audition CC's huge export time? (please help)

I just posted this on a much older thread but I worry it will never be seen. I have recently switched over to Audition from Logic. I have designed a soundscape that is approximately 1 minute and 10 seconds long, using about 30 tracks many of which are loaded with effects and automation. I accept that huge export times are exacerbated by things like that, however I still feel like the current time is unprecedented.
This is becoming a serious problem for me. We are about to churn out about 100 - 200 different videos with slightly varying soundscapes and the export time (and inability to queue exports) from Audition will cripple the workflow.
For anyone reading or planning to reply (which would be hugely appreciated!) I press 'Export' and it shows the little dialog box saying that it is exporting, however it stays on 0% for a huge portion of the entire process, and during this time I can see that no file has been created in the destination folder.
Also, I was very keen to queue exports in Media Encoder, so that even if the waiting time was huge at least they could be stacked, however I can't find a way to do this, so the exports must be done one by one. I have obviously searched for a media encoder functionality, assuming I must be missing something, but can't find anything. If anyone at least knows how to do this I would appreciate the information SO much, as the ability to queue the exports up together would really help.
    Thanks so much,
    Ben.

There's currently a bug in AME CC with 2-pass VBR H.264 encoding.
I'd say to try the export again, using the exact same settings, except change "2-pass VBR" to "1-pass VBR".  See what happens.
As the Adobe staff member states in the referenced thread, 2-pass (even if it was buggy) really does nothing to improve the rendered video.  It then surprises me that many of their included presets (including the YouTube ones) are all set to 2-pass.

  • Extremely long Master File Sharing/Export times (MP4)

I, too, it seems, am having extremely long Sharing times with my FCP X project(s).  It's a one hour, 50 minute HD video.   Nothing fancy, just a couple talking heads comprised of 7  .mov files and appx. 65 graphics and black generators as B-Roll.  When I share it to a Master File as an MP4 video it takes nearly 36 hours to complete.
The Transcoding takes more than 8 hours before it gets to the export phase.  I have "Create Optimized Media" and "Create Proxy Media"checked in the FCP X Prefs and have Background Rendering switched off, FWIW.
I have a 13" MacBook Pro (mid 2012) 8GB RAM, 1TB HD and running 10.9.2.  I don't know if it makes a difference but I have Perian and Flip4Mac installed.
Activity Monitor shows that I'm using 6.34GB physical memory and 10.5GB Virtual Memory.  The Memory Pressure graph is green.  Activity Monitor shows these processes: a kernel task of 750MB, FCP using 600MB and ProTranscoder Tool using 286MB.
I've shared copies of this same video to YouTube and it took about just as long but it shared successfully.
I was just wondering if there was any way to cut down on the rendering time - which, based on what I've seen in the discussions may not really be possible on a 2-hour video.  I will have another video in a week or so to finish and it's the same length.  Also, I may have a couple more projects in the future (if the client likes these) that will be similar.  My goal is to not have to wait days for a project export/share to be complete.  Worse, as was the case today, I decided to add one more 5-second graphic and had to re-do the entire Transcode/Export process.
I looked into getting Compressor but that doesn't seem really necessary or beneficial in my case and, based on the reviews, can actually add even MORE time to the process, it seems.
Thanks for any suggestions or pointers.  I'll continue to look through the discussions for info.
    Rick

Since I just downloaded the trial version and started this project I'm still learning as I go. At this point, I may actually end up having to purchase FCP (which I actually REALLY like - except for the hideous export times).  I used the OLD Final Cut Pro a good many years ago on a G-4 Quicksilver so this is somewhat of a re-learning experience.
When I began the project I'm trying to finish (now that I recall) I actually exported it from iMovie to FCP.  That's when I needed help using the generators because I needed to cover the 16:9 video while using a 4:3 graphic.  I began using this current version of FCP without initially setting or changing any preferences.  So, I believe the Optimize was already toggled.  I wasn't sure abut the proxy but you cleared that up for me.  Thanks!  I just made sure those two were toggled for this latest share/export because of something I read about maximizing (which I'm doing a lot of these days!).
The second program's .mov files I shot and began editing were imported directly into FCP and, again, I don't recall that I toggled the Optimize option.  I know I was sure to copy both programs' files to their project and not keep them in place (avoiding potential file issues).  I also exported that second, similar, video at one point (probably because of the issues with the first program) and it, too, took a comparable amount of time to export.  It is an hour and fifteen munutes long.
Since my MBP is new, I got the (what I assumed to be)was the maximum RAM. I've since learned you can (expensively) actually upgrade it to 16GB.  I'll opt for a SSD first, tho ;-)
When I get a chance after I'm finished with this current export ( which occur tomorrow sometime :-/ ) I'll try the Pro Res export and then try the MPEG Streamclip (which I have and use frequently) option.
I'm using a new Toshiba Canvio 3.0 Plus external 1.5TB (non-Thunderbolt) drive formatted Extended/Journaled/GUID partition to store my project and actually did quit FCP and restarted the MBP prior to beginning this export with no browsers running.
And, fwiw, at 6:30pm EST the project is 44% of the way through the Transcoding process.
Thanks for your help and time.

  • Direct to Youtube Export Stuck at 50%

Hi, I'm a frequent youtube uploader, and until right now, I've had no problems with the direct to Youtube exporting, with the occasional request time out.
However, I tried to upload a video file that was 182MB in 1080HD, and once it reached 50% in sharing, it stop moving. After 40 seconds or so, I got the notification that read the generic error message, saying the request time ran out.
I tried it again, this time in 720HD, and the same thing happened again. As a last resort, I tried 360p, but to still no avail.
I closed and reopened the program, and restarted my computer as well. Still, the same error repeated again and again.
I tried many more times, until I gave in and did the master file export (which was 1.46GB, which is annoyingly large.) I've been trying to upload it via the actual Youtube site, but after waiting 30 minutes, it hasn't even began to upload.
Is this a problem with my youtube account or FCPX itself? It's awfully important that I get back to uploading as soon as possible, so any sort of help you could give would be appreciated.
I have the 10.1 version of FCPX. (That can't be updated.)

Sounds like FCP is encoding it but something is causing the upload to fail. If there were a problem with your account verification, I would imagine you would get a message to that effect at the start of the direct upload attempt.
In any case, it may well be a temporary problem in YT's site – or even one with your ISP. Try again today to see whether it's been resolved,
As to your very large master files, you can change the format to Computer and the codec to H.264 to get much smaller, high quality files.

  • Time limitation of the questionnaire

    Dear Helpdesk!
I'm a satisfied Forms Central user since Aug. 2013. I created and used few questionnaires, and now I’m creating a new one. Now I have a problem. I would like to use this questionnaire as a test and I should use a time limitation. I mean when the responder open the Link which shows him/her the questionnaire, it would be nice a timer which shows him/her the remaining time of the filling of the questionnaire. If a responder run out his/her time limitation the questionnaire will closed for him/her. Can I set this function somehow in Forms Central?
Thanks in advance for your answer. VBRGDS: Zoltán Gábriel ([email protected])

    Hi;
FormsCentral does not have any support for this type of a timer.
I think you could accomplish this by embedding the FormsCentral form into your own web site into a page where you implement a countdown timer.  There is "Embed code" on the Distribute tab of the form to use for embedding into your own web page.
    Thanks,

  • How do to set up time limits on a guest network

I have a new generation Airport Time Capsule and I have set up a Guest Network for my kids but I would like to set up time limits on the Guest Network also, is there a way to do it?

It is not possible to set up specific time limits for the Guest Network as a whole, but it is possible to set up individual time limits for each device that will be connecting to the Guest Network.....and, also the main network for that matter.
If you can provide us with some more specifics on what you are trying to accomplish, how many devices will be involved, etc.......that will help us craft our answer to provide accurate information.
Meanwhile, if you want to take a look at the general settings in Timed Access....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the screen
Enter a check mark in the box next to Enable Timed Access
Click on the Timed Access button
Click Cancel to avoid making any changes to your current setup

  • How to record a time-limited video with Adobe AIR for iOS

I am trying to record a time-limited video with Adobe AIR for iOS.
For example, I want to implement the following function. Start a one-minute timer before launching CameraUI to record video. When the timeout event happens after one minute, stop recording video, close the CameraUI view and obtain the video data so far.
I have several questions related to that.
      1. How to stop recording video from outside the CameraUI view(in this case, from the timeout event handler) and then close the CemeraUI view? As far as I know, to close the CameraUI view, the only way is to press the [Use Video] button or the [Cancel] button from inside the CameraUI view. Is it possible to close it from outside?
      2. Even if the first problem mentioned above is solved, then how can I get the video data so far(in this case, the video data before the timeout). I know that normally we can get a MediaPromise object from MediaEvent parameter of the  complete handler, and read the video data from the MediaPromise object. But obviously in this case, we can not access the MediaPromise object just because the complete handler itself will not be executed since the [Use Video] button is not pressed.
      3. Is it possible to add a stopwatch to show possible remaining recording time when CameraUI view is open? It seems that the CameraUI automatically uses the full screen of iOS device(in my case, iPad) and there is no extra space to show the stopwatch.
Are there any solutions or workarounds about the three problem above? I really appreciate it if anyone has any idea about this. Thanks in advance.

You'd have more control by using the Camera object, showing the camera on a video object inside a Sprite, and capturing that. Then you could put whatever graphics alongside it on the stage.. I've used FlashyWrappers in a test to capture the video to the library.  It took some work, but the test worked well...

  • I just bought a docking station for my iPad so I could plug into a mixing board and record a live show.  I was disappointed at the time limitation for the recordings.  What is the maximum amount you can record a song into GB for the iPad?

I purchased a docking station for my iPad so that I could record a live recording of my band directly from a mixing board this weekend using GarageBand.  Unfortunately, I was unaware of the song length limitations of the iPad version of this program.  Basically, was unable to capture more than 15 minutes of the gig.  I've read other conversations on this forum and can't really determine the maximum amount of time this application can record.  Can anyone tell me how long GarageBand for ipad can record at one single time and how to adjust the settings to achieve this?  Also, is anyone aware of any other apps than could be used to record a longer please share.  Thanks.
    CP

I received an email reply from George, the Founder and CEO of Studiomini, he indicated to me that their app does not have any time limitations in regards to recording like GB does, you are only limited by the amount of free space on your iPad.  Fo what it's worth, I think the Alesis IO Dock is an amazing piece of equipment.  I would highly recommend purchasing the IO Dock and plugging your mixing board into the dock to capture your rehearsal.  Hopefully the feedback I received from Studiomini is accurate and I can capture my entire rehearsal at one time.  I hope this feedback helps.  One last note, apparently their will be a update soon to view Studiomni in the landscape view on the iPad instead of just the portrait view.

This is not usually related to AD issues, but it may be more of a DNS issue. I posted a request in your other thread to post an unedited ipconfig /all of the DC and of the client.

  • Create time-limited license for my application

    Hi,
I have created an application for my client, but i would like to add in a function below into my software for license renew.
For example, after the application is used in a PC for one year, it will be locked and will ask user to renew the license, to activate the application again.
Is there anyway can create the time-limited license for my application?
My application is developed by LV 8.5.1.
I am appreciated for your feedback.
    Thanks.

The Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit will do what you want, but you need LabVIEW 2010 or later.
There was even a NI-Week presentation: NIWeek Session: Creating a Software Evaluation for your Product in 10 minutes
Still, I agree with Norbert that an expiring licens is a very dumb idea. What if you go out of business? What if you are on vacation while their license expires? What is the system is on a space flight to Mars?
I would never install software that expires, because if it cannot be guaranteed that it will run a year from now I might as well not use it at all.  If NI would do the same, your LabVIEW 8.5 would have stopped working long ago.
If you want to ensure that users upgrade to a new version, make sure to add new and exciting features. Offer service subscriptions, etc.

  • The time limits on the parental controls do not work. Apple does not seem to know how to fix this issue since the problem has been going on since at least leopard.

The time limits in the parental controls do not work. I have several mac systems and they do not work on all of them. Also, I have had this problem since at least snow leopard and it is very frustrating that Apple is unable to fix a simple issue like this. All they have to do is somehow 'hard-wire' the time limits to the system clock but they are not listening. I used the feed-back feature in their support webpage and hopefully everybody else experiencing this issue will too. Thus, if they get a thousand notes on this issue they might listen and finally fix it.

Well, the whole system with those time limits are funky. Sometime this happens, sometime that happens. When the user is on the bed time limits do not work nor do the length of time limits. It is very frustrating as one of the reasons I bought an apple in the first place was those parental controls which did not exist in Windows prior to Windows 7. I do have a Windows 7 machine now and the bed time limits work there. Maybe you have a Windows 7 machine as well and can let them use it.
