Oversize DVD Files

Hello, I recently upgraded to the latest compressor, and I'm having trouble processing video for DVD Studio Pro. I have a 55 min. file that needs to go on a 4.7gb disk. When I use the settings for a 90 minute disk, the file size is over 9gb! Even the 150 min. version estimates a 5.6gb file size. This never happened on the older version.
Am I missing something?

Nevermind! Sorry--caught my error!

  • Adding DVD File to Library - File Name Changes

When I add a DVD file name to my library, iTunes changes the name of the file. How do I retain the name of the file that is in my iTunes sub-directory?

According to MacWorld the following terminal commands should restore that behaviour for you:
*defaults write com.apple.iTunes play-songs-while-importing -bool TRUE*

  • Converted DVD files, Now I Need More Help

I converted my DVD files so that my video iPod can read them, but now I have another problem. It would seem that a DVD has 8 or more seperate files that contains different portions of the actual movie.
How can I get all of those different chapter files into one streaming video?

You need to install itunes (the actual program) on your C: drive. The program and preference files don't take up that much space.
Then put the actual music, podcasts, videos, etc on the exHD. Use itunes to do this, not Win Explorer, so itunes will be able to find the files after the move.

  • How do you open a DVD/file in another search engine

how do you open a DVD/file in another search engine?

    Hi
I think it is simpler than that: place DVD in computer and then try to run a video from the disk. It will not run using Safari, but I know it runs in Firefox which I have on the computer.
I believe that I can depress one of the moifier keys while clicking an item on the application menu bar to open a menu where you can open the dvd using Firefox or another application.
Should be simple, but yet to find solution.

  • Help - How do I convert raw DVD files to a playable DVD?

I really messed up. I was trying to copy some home movie DVD's for my family. I put the CVD into my I-Mac and then selected the disc image in the finder once it appeared on the desktop and then clicked 'File - Duplicate' from the Finder menu. It created another image on the desktop with all the same files as the DVD in it. I then would eject the DVD and put in a blank DVD-r and then drag that folder onto the DVD, open the finder window for the blank DVD-r where I saw the files, and hit 'Burn'. I thought that would be duplicating the DVD but it actually just created a DVD with the data files on it and it won't play on a DVD player. How do I take the raw DVD files (with the Audio-ts and Video-ts folders) and create a burnable DVD? Can I do that with I-dvd? Is there a quicker way? Please help

Click here and follow the instructions, which will work with any unprotected DVD.

  • Problems importing DVD file in After Effects

I am having trouble importing a DVD file into After Effects. When I import it, it gets in but then when I click on it an error comes up. An error comes up everytime I click on it, and it's annoying. Is there any way to fix this? I am trying to work with a full movie in After Effects so I can make a short music video. I don't know what else to do.If it helps the movie file is about 2 hrs long.
Please, if you understand what I'm asking, or if you've been through the same thing- your reply will be very valuable!
    Thank you
    Seun

    Found the solution!
I found the answer on a post on http://Creativecow.net
    The link
    The post:
"...3. What ended up fixing it was by *not*  dragging the movie file to the new composition icon. Turns out my movie  had a strange frame rate of 14.985 instead of 15. Not sure why After  Effects interpreted my movie that way, I'm doing some unusual exports  because I'm working with screen capture software, so it's definitely not  a traditional workflow.
    4. So my solution was to create a composition from one of the AE presets  first and then tweak the settings slightly to match my movie  properties. Adding my movie clip to this composition gives me no errors  and we're good to go.
Strange solution, but it has worked. Now AE CS3 and I can be friends . . ."
Anyways, thank you guys for your replies!

  • Importing DVD file without losing quality?

    Hi there
I'm trying to import a non-encrypted DVD file, that plays in Quicktime and lasts approximately one minute. What would you say is the best way to import it without a drop in image quality?

What would you say is the best way to import it without a drop in image quality?
There is no such thing. All transcodes of material involve some compromises.
Do a search here for "Nick Holmes MPEG Streamclip". Nick has a tutorial on how to do what you'd like.

  • Importing DVD files to DVD SP

A couple weeks ago, I posted a question about importing a DVd file from a DVD recorder into DVD SP so that I could change the menus and generally clean it up. The suggestion was to use MPEG Streamclip to export. I did that, but when I did it, I either got a "muxer bitrate too high" message, or video read error. I tried "export to m2v and aiff. any further suggestions?

    Hi
Try encoding the audio AIFF files to Dolby 2 (AC3) using Compressor. That will save a lot of bitrate.
    Hope that helps !

  • Hi, since i put some mp4 video or DVD files on my external hard drives final cut prox won't recognize my hard drives, i move all the video files and the problem still exist. somebody have the solution

Hi, since i put some mp4 video or DVD files on my external hard drives final cut prox won't recognize my hard drives, i move all the video files and the problem still exist. somebody have the solution

Did the back and forth between PC and Mac file systems screw up my files somehow?
Yes. Unfortunately the move has almost certainly caused the loss of the resource data that would have been (invisibly) attached to those files.
By adding a specific .mov extension after the fact you will have helped the Mac correctly identify the file type / asscoiations but also significantly you will have physically changed the filename eg from "clip" to "clip.mov". This means that when you come to reconnect the media in FCP , then FCP will be looking for files that no longer exist at the given path eg when specifically looking for our example clip called "clip" of course it won't find it.
Try this as a test... first remove the ".mov" extension from one or more of the clips, select those clips and press Cmd-Opt-I to open an Info window for the selection. You'll see an "Open with:" popup and in that popup you should choose QuickTime Player (if its a Unix Executable then it will initially list Terminal as the appropriate app, you have to choose Other... then in the open dialog choose Enable > All Applications and then navigate to and select the Quicktime Player app as the appropriate app). After you've done that restart FCP and see if you can now reconnect to those clips.

  • Hi, im tinkering with mpeg streamclip and its giving me problems because it won't open my ripped dvd files from my desktop. It keeps giving me the same message "no VOB files can be found". Can anyone help me, this doesn't make sense.

hi, im tinkering with mpeg streamclip and its giving me problems because it won't open my ripped dvd files from my desktop. It keeps giving me the same message "no VOB files can be found". Can anyone help me, this doesn't make sense. I also found online that you need Apple Mpeg-2 playback component in order to use mpeg streamclip. Even though I have OS X Lion, should I download the add-on?

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • How to add non-DVD files to a DVD?

    Hi all,
I desperately need your help! I've created a DVD using Studio Pro, and I've burned the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS on a DVD
In addition however, I've added a folder named POWERPOINT, which contains various powerpoint presentations. I did this to allow PC-users to view some powerpoint presentations as well. On a DVD-player, obviously, those wouldn't be seen.
Now this system seemed to work, however not exactly as I wanted: on some dvd players the DVD starts at some random point in the menu; not at the start. Furthermore, the reproduction company encountered an Error:
Title Set Files not in correct physical order /
ISO and DVD file locations disagree
My question: is this error related to the fact that I've added powerpoint files to the DVD? and if so: is there another way to add non-dvd content to the dvd?
Thanks a lot for your help!
    Siebe

Select the DVD icon, (in the graphical or Ouline list) and in the inspector, look at the bottom of the inspector. You will see DVD-ROM content. Make sure you have put all of the content you wish to include in one folder, organized the way you want inside that folder and then using the DVD ROM content option select that folder.

  • Converting DVD Files to DV with Toast and Storage Issues

    Hello all.
In regard to my previous posting of converting to DV in Toast, I have started this new thread because I can't seem to reply to the other posting. When I originally dragged the Video TS folder from the DVD into the Toast window, it somehow didn't load completely although it seemed as though it did.
I then decided to import the material via the Media pane and everything then worked fine. These are movies originally filmed in 8 mm silent movie film a long time ago. I had sent some of them away to be transferred directly from film to MiniDv tape which gave me excellent clarity and color. But that was expensive. So I decided to transfer my remaining film which I had transferred to VHS tape when that first technology first came out.
