Overview/Introduction Topic
My overview topic is no longer the first topic the user sees
when accessing my site. A new topic appears depending on the
changes I make, and I can't find anything special about them in in
the topic properties. With that being said, my question is how can
I permanently set my overview topic as the first topic the user
sees? Thanks.
Please disregard. I've figured out how to set it as the
default topic by clicking on my primary layout in the Singule
Source Loyouts folder.

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a one day BI overview (introduction) course available at SAP education for release NW2004s (BI 7.0 ?)
I found the courses SAPBI and SAPNW but these seem to be for release 3.5 ?
If not, does anyone have a one day BI 7.0 overview course in PDF or PPT format ?
thx

Despite my number of posts on this board...I swear that I am happy with my NI devices....
I noticed a peculiar thing today. I am using some of the example programs to do some channel characterization. The investigation is meant to be relatively simple. I am using no baseband filtering, and since my transmitter and receiver are static I desire no equalization (in fact, right now, the up and down converters are connected via a short SMA as I do some "sanity checks".)
I am interested in utilizing as much of the 20MHz real time bandwidth as possible...so I went into the transmitter code (for example, the PSK Generate.VI located in the Modulation Toolkit Example folder) and hardwired 20MHz in for the bandwidth. With no baseband filtering, the original code determines BW by scaling the symbols/sec by some number (10 I think) which would limit the symbols/sec to 1MSym/sec.
Anyway...with my 20Mhz BW...I set the symbol rate at 100kHz. Using the PSK Demod VI in the same example directory, I observe the constellation and other measurements. No problems here. 1Mhz symbol rate....OK. Increase to 5Mhz...a little noisier, but OK. Higher than that (say 10MHz symbol rate) and the MER and EVM start going way up. Note that this is independent of the scheme (BPSK, QPSK, 8-PSK...whatever).
I noticed that if I then turn on equalization (on both the Tx and Rx sides of course), that the MER and EVM goes way down....especially at the high symbol rates.
So my question....I thought equalization was only necessary if the channel response changes over time (multi-path,etc.). Why then would equalization improve things when the symbol rate gets higher? Is it possible I'm seeing the frequency/phase offset of the upconverter and downconverter LO's? Or, maybe I'm just approaching the limit of the hardware and the equalization routines actually help clean up non-idealities of the hardware at those rates? For the channel I'm characterizing, I am actually interested in seeing the effect of potential multipath, so I'd rather not use the equalization routines at this time. Maybe I'm looking at having to make a tradeoff here?
BrandonHello Brandon,
The behavior you are seeing is expected. The equalization filter is used to correct the amplitude and phase of the signal so that after it passes though the 5610 you have a flat passband. There is a section of the RFSG help called IF Response and Software Equalization and it can be found under Devices >> NI 5671 Overview >> Advanced Topics >> IF Response and Software Equalization.
I copied the typical magnitude response of the 5610 upconverter with the equalization filter disabled (upper graph) and with it enabled (lower graph) from the manual. You can see it below. I hope this answers your question.

Word 2007 doc to PDF missing bookmark numbers
Hi,
I am using Acrobat 9 Pro to convert a Word 2007 doc to PDF. The doc converts fine and I get the bookmarks.
The problem though is that the generated bookmarks are missing their numbers.
For example:
In Word 2007, it will look like:
1 Overview
1.1 Introduction
In Acrobat 9 Pro generated PDF, it looks like:
Overview
Introduction
I looked through the forums and other people have posted similar questions but no resolution was seen.
Can somebody please help out?
I talked to Adobe tech support and they were no help.
ThanksHi all,
Here is an update to this issue.
First of all I agree with Nick that this *is* an Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro issue. (Possibly even with older versions).
Anyway below are the steps I followed to get this to work. It is quite a round about way but I'm happy I got it to work.
* Generate the PDF as usual from Word 2007. (Maybe you don't need to generate the bookmarks here because we are going to delete them later anyway).
* Open the newly generated PDF in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
* Click on the Bookmarks tab---if you have the Word 2007 generated bookmarks here select them all (Ctrl-A) and delete them :(
* Then click on the "Gears" icon in the Bookmarks tab.
* In the drop down menu select the "New Bookmarks from Structure..."
* Highlight the structures you wish to have for your bookmarks. For example I chose H1, H2, H3 assuming those were Heading1, ...
* Click OK
* The newly generated bookmarks contain section numbers
* Unfortunately this shows up within a bookmark called "Untitled" So I again select all (Ctrl-A)
* Unselect "untitled" and move (drag) everything else to one level above "Untitled"
* Then I delete "Untitled".
Unfortunately this new bookmark is a flat structure---i.e. you cannot collapse it.
Oh well! At least it works.
If any of you can come up with a better solution, please post it here :)
Thanks -
Looking for a Good White Paper on Oracle Data Modeling
Hopefully this is the proper area in which to ask this questions - been looking around these boards for a while but can't find what I'm looking for. I'd like to get a good modeling overview for topics such as:
-- pros and cons of normalization, e.g., performance considerations when deciding to normalize some data (and incur the cost of joins) vs keeping it denormalized (and having simpler queries)
-- overall performance considerations
-- warehouse vs mart considerations, esp as they relate to front end tools that will sit on the data mart
A general data modeling white paper or PDF would be very helpful to get me started.
Thanks all!
MikeYou don't need a White Paper you need a college course or a book.
The book I have on my shelf, don't know if it is still in print, is CASE*METHOD Entity Relationship Modelling by Richard Barker
Addison-Wesley Publishing Company
ISBN 0-201-41696-4
Normalization isn't about pros and cons. For performance denormalize. For data integrity normalize. Most systems end up somewhere between 3N and 4N or with what is referred to as Boyce-Codd NF. Google is your friend here but buy the book or take the course. This is not a subject to be read lightly in a dozen or so pages. -
The performance of ABAP programs
Hey Experts , how can one analyze the performance of ABAP programs apart from using the generic tools such as Trace etc.
Hi Chakradhar,
Overview & Introduction
The runtime analysis tool allows you to examine the performance of any ABAP programs, such as reports, subroutines, function modules or classes, that you create in the ABAP workbench. It saves its results in performance data files, which you can display as lists. You can use these results to identify runtime-intensive statements, to combine table accesses, and show the hierarchy of program calls.
Normally you use the runtime analysis tool to measure the runtime of complex program segments or complete transactions (if you want to measure the runtime of smaller program segments or individual ABAP statements you can use the ABAP statement GET RUN TIME FIELD ).
However, we use only simple
The Programs to be Analyzed
Let's assume I am a very newbie in ABAP and I have written a tiny little program which is doing the following:
reading data from a database table
storing that data in an internal table
display that data on a list (at the start of the program you have to specify certain key values; only matching data should be displayed later on).
So here it comes (and it seems to work as designed ...)
REPORT y_wlog_atra_1.
PARAMETERS: p_carrid TYPE sbook-carrid DEFAULT 'LH',
p_connid TYPE sbook-connid DEFAULT '0400'.
DATA: wa_sbook TYPE sbook,
itab_sbook TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF sbook.
*SELECT * FROM sbook INTO wa_sbook.*
CHECK: wa_sbook-carrid = 'LH' AND
wa_sbook-connid = '0400'.
APPEND wa_sbook TO itab_sbook.
ENDSELECT.
LOOP AT itab_sbook INTO wa_sbook.
WRITE: /,
wa_sbook-carrid,
wa_sbook-connid,
wa_sbook-fldate,
wa_sbook-bookid,
wa_sbook-customid,
wa_sbook-custtype.
ENDLOOP.
A nice colleague has thrown a glance at my source code. He has given the hint to use a WHERE clause with the SELECT statement instead of the CHECK statement for reasons of better performance.
So I have written another program:
REPORT y_wlog_atra_2.
*SELECT * FROM sbook INTO wa_sbook*
WHERE carrid = 'LH' AND
connid = '0400'.
APPEND wa_sbook TO itab_sbook.
ENDSELECT.
I am curious about the performance now. Let's compare the 2 variants with the ABAP Runtime Analysis tool.
ABAP Runtime Analysis: Tool & Procedure
To start it, choose Test --> Runtime Analysis in the SAP Menu, or use transaction SE30 .
The runtime analysis procedure consists of two parts:
Recording performance data (upper part of the screen)
Analyzing the performance data (lower part of the screen; this part only appears if there are performance data files in place)
The procedure for the first part (Recording performance data):
We go to the initial screen of the runtime analysis (transaction code SE30 ) and specify the name of the first program (Y_WLOG_ATRA_1) in the relevant input field. After that we press the button Execute .
The selection screen of the program Y_WLOG_ATRA_1 (including the 2 input fields) is displayed. At the bottom of the screen we are informed that the measurement has been started. We continue by clicking the Execute button.
Later on we will see that a file (containing performance data) has been created in parallel.
Now we repeat that procedure for our second program (Y_WLOG_ATRA_2).
The second step is the analysis of the generated performance data.
To do that we have to go to the initial screen of the Runtime Analysis tool again. On the bottom part of the screen you can specify those performance data files you want to analyze.
You can see some information related to the last measurement run (in our case that was program (Y_WLOG_ATRA_2). By pressing the button Other File we are able to select those performance data files we like to analyze.
I want to see all the files I have created (user BCUSER).
I get the relevant list with 2 lines (related to the performance data files of the programs Y_WLOG_ATRA_1 and Y_WLOG_ATRA_2).
Based on that list you can display the distinct performance data per line. You have to click in the column Object Type of the relevant line.
As a start the tool displays the evaluation overview (showing the cumulated execution times for the ABAP, database and system-level).
Here comes the evaluation overview for program Y_WLOG_ATRA_1
We can do the same for the other program Y_WLOG_ATRA_2
By comparing the perfomance data of the 2 programs we clearly see that I have done well with listening to the advice of my colleague. The performance of the second program is dramatically better.
In the next step you can forward to a more detailed display of the performance data (Hitlists). That listing shows the different granular execution steps ( according to your filter adjustments ). Here you can easily identify the most time-consuming progam units.
And it will also be a good idea to glance at the Tips & Tricks corner. You will find many valuable suggestions about good performance definitely.

How to make SSO if a user login from Jetspeed and jump to Sun Portal
We need to make the Sun Java Portal Server SSO when a user has done the authentication in another remote desktop application or the web applications ( like Jetspeed host ).
Username and password can be retrieved if a user logs in any other application. In the Access Manager, LDAP is the only authentication module used.
We made this requirement in the Jetspeed. The general idea is to create a filter which sets the Username and Password into the principal. Thus, Jetspeed checks the existence of the principal and regards the user as being authenticated if the principal is valid.
Currently, it seems not feasible in the Sun Java Portal Server by using the same way. Anyone met the same the situation before? Who is familar with the process of the second session validation? I read the Sun Java System Access Manager - Technical Overview ( p38, topic: session validation). It just gave me a very general image. Who has some specific references about that ? I am very appreciated for your help.
Here is the codes of the filter
Public class EnablerFilter implements Filter {
public void init (FilterConfig arg0) throws Servlet Exception {}
public void destroy() {}
pulic void doFilter (ServletRequest req, ServletResponse res, FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException {
HttpServletRequest request = ( HttpServletRequest) req;
HttpServletResponse response = ( HttpServletRequest) res;
SSOTokenManger tokenMgr =null;
try {
tokenMgr = SSOTokenManger.getInstance();
} catch ( SSOException e) {
e.printStackTrace ():
System.out.println ( " failed in creating Token Manger");
SSOToken token = null;
// if a token exists in the cookie
try {
token = tokenMgr . createSSOToken (request);
} catch (UnsupportedOperationExcetpion e1) {
el.printStackTrace() ;
} catch (SSOException e1) {
el.printStackTrace ();
// if a token does not exist in the cookie
if (token =null ) {
Principal cfxPrincipal = new CfxPrincipal ( " username");
try {
token = tokenMgr. createSSOToken ( cfxPrincipal, " username");
} catch (SSOException e) {
e.printStackTrace () ;
chain.doFilter (request, response);
}Hi,
Thanks,
But the note don´t say how to connect the j2ee of the BI-Java with the J2ee of the Portal. -
Call Java Program from ABAP Program
Dear all,
In our scenario, we need to let ABAP call services provided by a standalone Java program. From online help I found some overview introduction and I'd make the called program a registered program in a RFC with type "T" (TCP/IP Connection). Can anybody give some concrete documentation? A step-by-step guide would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Calling Java API from ABAP using JCo -
Hi Friends,
I am working as a ABAP Consultant for the past 5 years in 4.6c and 4.7. I am more exposed to Reports and Workbench tools. I am pretty sure that I really lag in terms of SAP Technologies growth.
I need to improve my skills and at the same time update to the current requirements. I am confused to proceed with my next step. Well, Certification is the only way where I can keep in touch with the updates, So I need your suggestions in my scenario.
Your suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks and Regards

ALE distribution of HR master data to CRM - subtype CELL and MAIL
Hello,
Overview/Introduction:
we are using the ALE distribution of HR master data to CRM. The distribution has already been set up and it is running. We know that the infotype communication (0105) is especially distributing the subtypes 0010 (e-Mail) and 0020 (telephone number). This e-Mail address and the telephone number are stored in the business partner in the CRM system.
For this infotype 0105 there are also the subtypes CELL (cell phone) and MAIL (e-Mail address). Unfortunately this cell phone number and the mail address (from subtype MAIL) are not stored at the business partner in CRM.
Our request is on the one hand to store the data from subtype CELL into the field mobile number of the business partner. And on the other hand we want to store the e-mail address of subtype MAIL at the business partner instead of subtype 0010.
For some reason it seems that these requests canu2019t be setup within SAP standard.
So we found SAP note 758426 which suggests to use the BAdI HRALEX_INBOUND and the report RH_ENHANCE_BP_TEMPLATE.
Problem:
Now the problem is that the BAdI does not get called! The BAdI is active! We tried to set break points -> unfortunately did not stop! And we also implemented an endless loop in the BAdI -> even with this the system did not u2018stopu2019!?
Any ideas?
Thank you,
RomanHi,
First you need to create a distribution model using transaction BD64 : Edit > Model View > create.
Then you will need to maintain fields for description and technical name. In partner box you need to enter the source system (HR) and the target system (FI) in the second field. Then you need to assign a message type and filter settings if you need it. You need to create this distribution model in source system (HR).
After, still in BD64, go to environment > change partner profile or transaction WE20
Select your target system and enter the corresponding message type ( HRMD_A or HRMD_ABA depends on your scenario) with the correct customizing (receiver port, packet size, idoc type, syntax check and output mode).
Then please do the same things in your source system using WE20 for your source system and define your inbound parameters (Process code HRMD, processing by function module : use trigger immediately if it is not a production system or else trigger by background program and this case you will need to run report RBDAPP01 to process Idocs).
Once done, then go back to your model view in your source system (BD64) and go to Environment > generate partner profiles. Then please go to Edit > Model View > distribute
After all these settings done, it should work.

Hi all, using TCS2, linked FM books into RH, Win 7 64-bit.
When I generate Webhelp from RH, the TOC is not expanded automatically. You have to click on the main topic to see all the sub topics, etc. Is there a setting to make the TOC expanded automatically? To be clear - I can see the navigation panel on the left-hand side, but just the main book of the doc appears- I would like to show users how many sub-topics there are below, as soon as they access the help.
I searched the threads but couldn't find anything quite related to this question.
Thanks,
AdrianaHi there
So you have configured the Introduction topic to be the default topic. So far so good.
The next bit sounds odd, as by default things should have been configured so that the TOC Synchronizes with the displayed topic. As you click links in other topics, does the TOC expand whatever book the links are in so that it synchronizes? You want synchronizing on. And it usually is.
Another possibility is to try changing the Speed Optimization so it's set for Local PC or Intranet. It's on a dialog about two or thee clicks in (click Next) in the WebHelp SSL properties.
Cheers... Rick

Using Map Builder to view Spatial data
Is anyone using XE for Spatial/Locator work? I have created a schema in XE from a spatial dmp file. I know the dmp file creates a valid schema as we use it all the time for testing. After import, I can't view any spatial layers using Oracle's Map Builder, or with any other spatial viewer for that matter. The tables look valid, have geom columns, are populated, are registered in the metadata... Does anyone have any ides why I can't access my spatial layers from XE?
Looks like mdsys is alive in my XE 11gR2 instance ...... which doesn't mean all Spatial features will work. As mentioned before, Oracle Spatial is among the "Options and Major Features Not Included" according to the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/license.112/e18068/toc.htm#BABJIJCJ]Licensing Information.
A few lines below, you'll find Oracle Locator to be available in XE anyway. Locator needs the MDSYS schema, but that schema obviously doesn't comprise everything you need for Spatial features. Spatial is an EE option. It could actually be that XE still carries everything you'd need but it's simply disabled... See the [url http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/spatial/overview/introduction/spatial-locator-features-100445.html]OTN Locator/Spatial features overview to get ... an overview. ;)

Hi,
this website is a board (http://forum.tour-magazin.de). It is several months now, that I cannot access it from my PC at home, not with firefox or other browsers, I have tried IE and Opera. Everywhere else it works.
What happens is, that at first it takes several minutes to acces the general overview of topics at the url above, and then, when I want to acces one of the submenues or a particular topic it just never finishes to load.
As I said, only this site is concerned, waht could it be?
Thanks, M.Yes, you can install and use the software on the 2nd machine so long your new company owns the license, the software is used but the same person who is using the primary installation (that is, you).
