Overview of iOS 4.2 for iTouch 2G
So, correct me if I'm wrong but I think this about the synopsis of the upgrade to iOS 4.2 from 4.1 for the iTouch 2G.
Added features:
1) Airprint: 2G isn't capable of it
2) Airplay: Can't get it to work?
3) Text Search in Safari: This isn't working for me either
4) Multitasking: 2G isn't capable of it
This is all I can remember right now, but is this about right? Or have I missed something?
Airplay works just fine on both of my 2nd generation iPod Touches.
That's the basic reason I wanted it for..
There is also a new "Voice Memos" icon... just for the record...
It's a FREE update and I haven't noticed any major problems..

Try ensuring that your firewall isn't blocking iTunes, you can test this by trying to connect to the iTunes store...if you can connect then I would suggest trying a different computer to update? Back it up on your original computer and then take it to another computer to update it, good luck :)

No. Apple said 3.1.3 is the highest for the 1G. The 1G does not have hardware to support a later iOS.

no so far there hasn't been any news for itouch 5g but the ios 5 update. But hope they will make a 5g soon this year

I just downloaded the ios 6 on my iTouch 4th gen, and my email won't work, my wifi won't connect, my iPod is more sluggish, and honestly I'm really frustrated. Is there anything I can do?
Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

i did the ios 5 upgate for my iphone 4 and can no longer view the pics i take in the camera app or camera roll in photos. nothing lets me see them the page just goes to no photos or video but i can see the last pic i took in the little box in the corner in the camera. does anyone know how to fix this problem and make it work normal again. thanks
Try a reset of the device by pressing and holding the home and power button for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

I am unable to upgrade to ios 5.0 for my ipad. I am using windows 7 and my itunes is updated 10.1 it keeps timimg out and i get error message 3259. I already tried diacbling antivirus software
You've tried turning off all firewall and antivirus software ? If that doesn't work then you could try downloading the 5.1.1 update via a browser :

When it's finished downloading, in your computer's iTunes press and hold the shift key on Windows (command key on Mac) when clicking the Check For Updates button which should let you navigate to the downloaded file. -
Uploaded iOS 4.2 for my iPad and now can't use it
Please help. I uploaded iOS 4.2 for my iPad and now I can't update, restore, or get my iPad to show up on iTunes. When I click restore it gets to "Preparing iPad for restore", then states it can't restore due to error 1604. I have followed the trouble shooting guide, but it still won't restore.
This is a copy and paste from an link I listed below. It might be helpful.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the USB 30-pin dock-connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and re-open iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.

I am trying to download the update IOS 5 version for mi ipad 2 and at the end when it finishes downloading it shows an error "connection has been interrupted and that the task could not be completed", my internet service is fine, what can it be?
The 2nd generation can not be upgraded beyond 4.2.1.

After updating to iOS 6 my iPod Touch 4th.Gen is virtually unusable ... does anyone know how to sue Apple since they gave no warning about iOS 6 being for iPad optimisation and a killer for iPods ? Is it possible for the next IOS 6 update for the music album art to display on the homescreen as a backround image when music is playing?
It does, under certain circumstances. If you are playing music and lock the phone or it locks on its own, when you wake it up, the album art will show. It also shows as the background if you are in the music app. If this is not exactly what you are looking for, you can submit feedback to Apple about this feature at www.apple.com/feedback.

I'm thinking about getting an i pod touch for my daughter. If I get the 4th generation i pod, is it compatible with the ios 7 updates for i phones as far as if she wants to imessage or face time with me?
The 4G can not run IOS-7. "6" is the highest that it can go. You need the 5G for IOS-7.
However, that won't affect her ability to use iMessage and FaceTime.
