Overview on MM SD PP for ABAP Developers

Hi all,
Could any one send the link for the documents on the concepts
of MM SD PP. I have certain documents but there are too comlex.
I am 1 year experienced in ABAP. I want to know the basics of above
modules.
Thanks in advance,
M Sri Suktha.

Hi
I don't think there is a simple way to handle all that concepts or a document like that (if you find it pleaz tell me!!) .. I suggest you to interact with functional guys and try to understand how table works (F1 and -> technical info often give you information about table used behind). I also suggest you a file (sap-tables.exe) found in this post
Link between tables
it's really useful about the modules you are talking about.
Hope this helps.

  • Right Rights for ABAP developers (no SAP_ALL)

    Hi there,
I have to create new users for ABAP development, but I don´t what to assign them all the profile SAP_APP.
Anybody knows what a minimum rights to use e.g. SE80 (object-navigator) for developers?
    Yours,

    Hi Yogi,
Try with assigning profile S_ABAP_ALL to ABAP user-id.

  • Intelligroup Training for ABAP Developers

    Hello All,
My company is looking into the possibility of a company called Intelligroup comming in to train our ABAP developers.  Does anybody have any experience with Intelligroup?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

    Hi,
Ofcourse you can go with that one.  Intelligroup is in SAP practice for a long time. Infact it  has started SAP Practice quite earlier than few big companies.

  • ECATT benefits for ABAP developers

    Dear All,
I'm new to eCATT, but have gone through eCATT tutorial successfully.
My question is not about how to use SECATT transaction rather I'm interested in using eCATT from a ABAP developer point of view.
Since, functional testing is main responsibility of functional consultants, therefore, how can ABAP consultants use eCATT for their advantage? I've heard that eCATT can also be used for uploading data, is that right? What else can I achieve with eCATT other than testing SAP transaction? It'll be helpful if you can post an example describing that how you used eCATT for your advantage.
    Have a nice day!
    Hashir Ahmed

    Hello Hashir,
As you mentioned we can use eCATT created to setup the customization and master data required for the process to be tested manually within less time , this saves a lot of time as more time is required to setup the masterdata for the process.
Also we can use eCATT during the support pack test , perform regression runs of the earlier functionality to check whether the basic functionality is working fine after the enhancments have been implemented.
Overall the eCATT saves a lot of time of manual testing.
eCATT can be used to test web applications aswell apart from SAP R3 transactions.
eCATT supports the integration of the third party tool like qtp , testpartner.
    Thanks & Best regards,
    Ajay

  • How to integrate WebDynpro for ABAP application with SAPEnterprisePortal7.0

    Hi WebDynpro for ABAP Experts,
We developed an WebDynpro for ABAP application on R/3, and now we are planning to show this as an iview on SAP Portal EP7.0 (SAP j2EE Engine--Java stack). is it possible to integrate this application with portal?
If so can you proviode me the way how can we achieve this?
    ADV Thanks
    Regards
    Phani

    Hi Alex,
    Thanks for your response.
I already created the system object R/3 Backend.
Actually some WebDynpro java applications/iViews are currently running on Portal. and the developers developed these in NWDS and deployed the .sca files on the Portal server and we created Webdynpro for java iViews.
but now the requirement is creation of webDynpro for ABAP views.
The developers developed  WebDynpro for ABAP on the R/3 system. So what are the parameter values we need to give at teh time of creation of  WebDynpro for ABAP iview like the Namespace, Application name etc which are mandatory values and how the Portal server detects the application, this means no need to deploy the application on the Portal server?
Shall we need to maintain any JCo Destinations or not?
    Pl share your ideas.
    ADV Thanks
    Regards

    [email protected]
thanking you all in anticipation eagerly waiting for help

Go to wwww.google.com ( search flow of SD in SAP ) flow of HR in SAP ) flow of abc module in SAP .
Don’t mind , but it always good to search your self again first . I mean finding in google.com , and SDN .. Most of the time you’ll definitely get answer .
Peoples asked about functional knowledge , because if you know the flows you can understand the business process and write good program and also give input . You can also see different angles of 1 view. I must say its not obligatory for ABAP`er but it always a Plus point
    Thanks and Good luck !!

  • Where i can find the document for ABAP-SD techno functional guys

where i can find the document for ABAP-SD techno functional guys

    Dear Jagrut,
Well there is no separate section for technofunctional people like ABAP SD. I think it wil not be an easy proposition also to have a separate section. Regarding the documents, I have posted lot of queries on technofunctional aspect of SD and I have got good responses from the SD forum. So you can try it here.
A small search on SDN SD forum most of the times will help you to answer your query.
I will suggest you to visit  http://sap-img.com/sap-sd.htm. It will give you the overview of SAP SD module.
Moreover there is a separate section of FAQs with answers which will help you in great deal.
    Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.

Hope that the following also helps you.
Web Dynpro for ABAP (WD4A, WDA) is the SAP standard UI technology for developing Web
applications in the ABAP environment. It consists of a runtime environment and a graphical
development environment with special Web Dynpro tools that are integrated in the ABAP
    Workbench (SE80).
Web Dynpro offers the following advantages for application developers:
The use of declarative and graphical tools significantly reduces the implementation
    effort
Web Dynpro supports a structured design process
Strict separation between layout and business data
Reuse and better maintainability by using components
The layout and navigation is easily changed using the Web Dynpro tools
Stateful applications are supported – that is, if the page is changed and the required
data remains intact so that you can access it at any time throughout the entire
    application context.
Note that stateless applications are not possible.
Automatic data transport using data binding
    Automatic input check
Automatic operation of the Web Dynpro application using the keyboard
    User interface accessibility is supported
Full integration in the reliable ABAP development environment
    Web Dynpro Architecture
    Definition
Web Dynpro is the SAP NetWeaver programming model for user interfaces (UIs).
The Web Dynpro model is based on the Model View Controller paradigm, and has the
following features that build on the classic dynpro model:
Clear separation of business logic and display logic
Uniform metamodel for all types of user interfaces
Execution on a number of client platforms.
    Extensive platform independence of interfaces
    Structure
    Metamodel Concept
Web Dynpro provides support for developing Web representation of a business application.
You use specific tools to describe the properties of a Web Dynpro application in the form of
Web Dynpro metadata. The necessary source code is then generated automatically and
executed at runtime. In addition to the events offered by the framework, you can also define
your own events for a Web Dynpro application. However, the event handling must always be
programmed in separate source code areas which are executed automatically when the event
    is triggered at runtime.
In Web Dynpro, each user interface is always made up of the same basic elements. These
elements of the metamodel can be statically declared using Web Dynpro tools.
It is also possible to implement elements of the metamodel at runtime and to change them or
reintegrate them at runtime. Using these implementations, you can make any changes or
enhancements to a user interface that has been created by declarative methods by
generating new interface structures at runtime.
This means that you can combine declarative processes and the implementation of source
    code.
    Graphical Development Tools
To support this declarative concept, both the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and the
ABAP Workbench contain a range of Web Dynpro tools. You can therefore generate a large
proportion of a Web Dynpro application using the tools provided, without having to create your
own source code. This applies to the following parts of the application:
Data flow between the front end and back end
    Layout of the user interface
    Properties of user interface elements
The Web Dynpro tools enable you to create source text areas manually within generated
source texts. These areas are not changed if the source code is regenerated.
Separation of Business and Application Logic
Using Web Dynpro enables a clear separation of business logic and display logic. A Web
Dynpro application runs on the front end and has local or remote access to the back end
system via a service. This means that the display logic is contained in the Web Dynpro
application, while the business logic and the persistence of the business objects run in the
back end system. The following options are currently available for connecting Web Dynpro
    applications and the back-end system:
An interface generated using adaptive RFC, through which BAPIs of an SAP system
    can be called
An interface for calling Web services
    A self-generated interface
The source code required for connecting the Web Dynpro application can be generated
from a UML definition of the Web Dynpro interface. A UML definition can be imported
into the Web Dynpro tools as an XML file.
    Conversion of the Model-View-Controller
Conversion of the Model-View-Controller Programming Model
Every Web Dynpro application is structured according to the Model View Controller
    programming model:
The model forms the interface to the back end system and thus enables the
Web Dynpro application access to data.
The view is responsible for the representation of the data in the browser.
The controller lies between the view and the model. The controller formats
the model data to be displayed in the view, processes the user entries made by the
user, and returns them to the model.

  • Syntax helper for ABAP code?

Please, I would like to ask any of you ABAP developers with some expirience...is there any tool (inside or outside the Workbench) that can color the syntax of ABAP code... (the way it is done in some other IDEs like Visual Studio, JBuilder or even Ultra Edit...) ???

There are some IDE external of SAP that do that. But .. I try it and don't like that.
    Ex : http://www.sapedit.com/
Wait for next release, there will be some new stuff.

  • SAP HANA development languages for ABAP Developer

Hi I was just looking at some blogs on HANA. Can anyone tell me how to learn the new HANA programming languages SQLScript etc. As you know not many companies use HANA yet, so getting to use a real HANA box can be hard as of now.. What are the other options... Can I install the HANA software on my PC and use it with a few Excel files or MS-Access db just to workout what these programming languages actually do.. Ofcourse I dont have access to the HANA box(hardware that SAP talks about). I am an ABAP Developer I have access to ECC if that helps.
Also from what I can understand the HANA box sits on top of the ECC/BW systems etc  or would HANA replace some aspects of the Application Server and sit in the R3 architecture? if the second scenario is true would most of the ABAP reports etc written using traditional ABAP have to be replaced or modified to use HANA related code in them to improve performance(I know ABAP doesnt support this yet).
If companies start using HANA I would think most ABAP developments just querying to get data would need to be rewritten-even the webdynpro applications for performance.
Can HANA update DBs as well?
Would HANA programming be a required skill for most ABAP developers in future?

    Edited by: sk123456 on Sep 29, 2011 3:35 AM

    Hello Sk,
so far (with HANA 1.0 SPS 2), the only relevant languages to learn is SQL and SQL Script. Check http://service.sap.com/hana which has SQL and SQL Script Guides.
Since you know ABAP already, you will pick these things up rather quickly. There are as you noted some concepts you have to understand in order to make optimal use of the HANA features and get maximum performance (anyone could come up with SQL or SQL script that crawls to a halt even in HANA). One key is to process everything is sets of data rather than record by record. Another important item is to keep all processing within the column engine. Also avoid joins that lead to large intermediate results. We are currently writing some how-to guides which will be publised on http://www.experiencesaphana.com/. Stay tuned!
In terms of the architecture, I would say HANA as a database sits below the application server and/or client, for example, BW powered by HANA where HANA plays the role of the DBMS. The other option is to run side-by-side for example, connecting HANA to an existing ECC (that runs on MS-SQL). In either case, you are right; the logic (either in the application on top of HANA, or the models inside HANA) needs to be changed or created to take advantage of HANA.
Where can you learn more? Class room training TZHANA or come back regularly to the Try section of the Experience Site where we plan to publish other options.
    Regards,
    Marc

PS: And we certainly have plans to integrate HANA features into ABAP

  • Web Dynpro for ABAP Naming Convension & Guide line

    Hi, everyone.
I have a plan to implement Web Application as WDA(Web Dynpro for ABAP). but I don't know how can I give a name to Windows or Views or Custom controllers.
If you have a naming convension or guid line document,
Could you share the document with me? ^^

As Rich said, there are no official naming conventions. Nonetheless, a few things have become quite popular, such as:
    - adding wnd_ in front of window names as they share the same namespace with views
    - adding m_ in front of member variables of controllers
    - adding s_ in front of supply methods and using the name of the node afterwards
    - adding lbl_ in front of labels and using the name of the labelled ui element afterwards like "lbl_customer" and "customer"
Some developers also add certain prefixes to view elements to distinguish between them.
Regarding the names of components, there is one thing that you should not do: Start them with WD_ or WDR_ as both are somehow preserved. The same is true for entities within a component, although there checks in place that prevent you from doing that.
    Best regards,
    Thomas

Adding to what sanasrinivas wrote above...user will have to login the again  if your application opens in a GUI interface and from that GUI screen you are opening some report in Browser.
Remember that T-codes made for wda can execute both in GUI and Browser, If you execute them in Browser you wont have to login again and again but yes, if you execute 1 application in GUI and open some other t-code in browser , you will have to enter the login details again...so if you want to have hassle free execution you will have to open the reports in browser always.
