Overwrite edits - audio problems

Hi
Everytime I do an overwrite edit onto my timeline sequence I have audio problems. For example the current edit has 4 audio tracks connected to the video, and the new edit only has 2, but when I do an overwrite edit audio tracks 3 and 4 keep the old content. Is there a way around this? Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

I'm afraid there's not a way for 2 tracks to overwrite 4. (funny too, you'd think there was a way) You'll have to lift them out...
Shouldn't happen a lot to you though if you get your base 2 track audio done before you add any more audio tracks. Such as locking your video and sync audio then add effects or music...

  • Copying, pasting and editing audio problem?

hi, i have some audio tracks that i originally recorded in pro tools le
(no plugin delay compensation if using uad's or other 3rd party plugs dont even go there by the way)
and have exported them to logic 8 and changed the arrangment for a song.
The problem is when i cut and paste sections of an audio track to a different part of the song, if i trim, cut, mute or pull it back it changes the part of the audio that i originally pasted it from?
how do i stop this from happening?
    can anyone help
    thanks

Once you've copied/pasted the new region to where you want it, select the new region and press:
    OptionCmdF
You will then be prompted to give a new filename for the audio file. This generates a new file, which can be edited separately from the original.

  • Problem editing audio timings

    Help !!!
While editing audio timings the file size increases.....often
doubling in size for not apparent reason

    Hi Deeb07,
First, be sure this is actually a problem for you. If it is
just the "idea" that the file is larger that bothers you, try to
ignore it. But if it is affecting your machine's performance while
working with (editing) the project, then it is an issue that needs
to be corrected, so read on ...
Captivate creates and maintains two file-types for each audio
clip. One is a WAV file for editing purposes, and the other is a
MP3 (created from the WAV) which is used in the published output.
When you edit the audio, the newly changed WAV file is probably
added to your library, creating the larger working file - it should
not affect your output SWF file.
If file-size is excessive after completing your changes -
repeat, after completing your changes - you can usually affect a
huge decrease in file size by the following actions.
    1) Use FILE > SAVE AS to create a copy, to protect the
    original
    2) On the new copy, go to AUDIO > ADVANCED AUDIO
    3) Select all audio files on your slides (CTRL + A is the
    shortcut)
    4) Export all to an empty folder - be sure to include both
    file-types
    5) With ALL audio still selected, use the "DELETE" icon to
    delete all
*Note: First, make a note of which audio file goes with each
    slide
    6) SAVE your project, with NO audio
    7) IMPORT the previously exported MP3 files back into proper
    slides
**Note: Captivate will automatically reproduce the WAV files.
    8) SAVE once more - your CP file size should be much smaller
    now.
Hope this helps. Another member and I recently used these
steps to reduce one of his CP files from nearly160Mb to less than
55 Mb, and I'm confident it will work for you as well.
    Have a good day!

  • How can i quick edit Audio( increase bass) of a single file?

    Hi everyone,
Im new to FCPX. I have a bunch of videos of music gigs ive played and would like to increase the bass (via equalizer) on most of them. All these videos are already converted into an "Apple Friendly" format and are sitting comfortably in my Itunes Video folder. How can i quickly increase the bass in each video (Without having to tediously export one by one) in FCPX and do a quick overwrite over the original video without having to make an EXTRA file?
    THanks

    ok.
"Why don't you increase the bass with the equalizer in FCP? Do it to one clip and use paste attributes to apply it to other clips."
    1) How do i copy the attributes after making the changes??
    2) How do i paste the attributes onto the next file?
    Thanks.

  • How to send FCP edited audio clips for processing in Soundtrack?

    Hello
How do I send just the edited audio clips from hour long files to be processed in Soundtrack from Final Cut?
I need help as I'm trying to adjust some edited audio clips in Soundtrack Pro but when I send them from FCP to Soundtrack - it opens the whole original audio file and then any adjustments I apply in Soundtrack are being processed over the whole audio file not just the short edited audio clip that I want to adjust.
Normally I don't mind as my scenes are usually short and Soundtrack analysis over the whole scenes audio is usually desirable, but this projects files have been transfered from tapes as hour long AVI files (all the tapes clips transfered into one hour long files) and every FCP edited audio clip I send is being treated as an hour long audio file in Soundtrack.
I'm sure there's a simple answer for settings but I haven't been able to find it.  Any advice appreciated.
    Barra

Thanks Javi, my sequence is an hour and half duration so what I'm trying to do is save processing time in Soundtrack by just processing adjustments on the few audio clips that need processing.
I have set Soundtrack to open referenced audio only and with 5 sec in and out handles, but it still imports the whole original audio file into Soundtrack timeline upto the selected clip, I then double click in Soundtrack on the clip in brackets, and it then selects just the audio clip I want to adjust, then Soundtrack will just process on the edited clip but when I 'render to action' it seems to apply changes to whole original audio file - taking longer than I want.... frustrating
Also the sound always sounds very different in FCP than Soundtrack even after 'rendering to action' and rendering in FCP... this is not the easy workflow I expect from such expensive software programs, I understood that they work together in a fully integrated way, what's the problem! This is wasting my precious time and preventing me from editing not helping me, this is a common problem and yet I can find no help in the user manual - I'm not impressed!

  • Edit Audio dialog box won't open

I cannot get the Edit Audio dialog box open -- I've double-clicked and right-clicked the audio in the timeline, tried the menu Audio > Edit > Slide..., poked around in Settings and Preferences but cannot find anything amiss in there.
I don't get any error message. Nothing happens at all.
I'm using Captivate 4 on a Windows XP machine, I've done a few projects before and never encountered this problem.
    Any ideas??
Urgent help would be much appreciated -- have to get two project done in the next 24 hours.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi there
    Try clobbering your preferences file.
    Close Captivate
    Open Windows Explorer
    Navigate to the location below:
    C:\Documents and Settings\*YOUR USER NAME HERE*\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
    Delete the file named captivate_v40.dat
Restart Captivate and see if the problem is solved.

  • WINE audio problem

I recently migrated from ubuntu to arch (with Gnome as desktop environment), and I had a problem with wine. I run an application called dolby axon under wine which is basically a voice chat application and I have skype. The problem is that wine access the devices through ALSA and skype through pulseaudio. So if I run dolby axon under wine and then skype, skype has no audio, if I exit dolby axon skype gets the audio immediately and the same vice versa. I did not have this problem in ubuntu so I believe that there is a solution for this that I am not aware of since I am new to arch.
My conclusion for the problem is that for some reason wine locks the audio devices used through ALSA so pulseaudio is unable to use it.
    ** EDIT **
The problem was fixed by installing lib32-alsa-plugins

an update on the issue, it is not only skype, any sound the system use "like playing music on chrome" is not working as long as wine is operating. and when I close wine everything works fine

  • QT Pro overwrite edit

IS there any way in QT Pro 7 to do an overwrite edit? I have a movie with a video and ac3 sound track. I want to add a AAC sound track that is the same duration of the video track. So the movie would then have two audio tracks., both the same duration as the video track.
    Thanks,
    Scott

IS there any way in QT Pro 7 to do an overwrite edit?
Not as such. You can, however, open the file, add the alternative audio track, and then use the "Save As..." option to re-write the audio and video data to a new MOV file container.

  • Best way to edit audio in a QT file

    Hi,
I have a QT file with lots of audio problems that need to be cleaned (lots of ums and ahs to be deleted). WHen I load the QT file in Soundtrack pro and delete some audio, the corresponding video segment does not get deleted. Granted, I am new to audio so I might be missing something. ANy ideas how to edit a QT file in an audio program (Final Cut is not good for audio editing)?
    Thanks,
    Robert

There's 2 ways to accomplish this.
In a strictly audio environment you'd need to replace the removed sections with something, breaths or room tone.
Otherwise you'd need to use a video editing program so that the audio and video stay in sync. If you find you can't finish the audio properly in FCP, then you could send the audio to STP to fix it up after you do your initial editing in Final Cut.
    Hope that helps.

  • Weird audio problems with Motion when exporting quicktime videos

I have a Motion project with 2 video clips of people talking. When I create a RAM preview everything plays back fine. When I export a quicktime, the first second or so of each video clip (within the quicktime) have no audio. I've adjusted the in and out of each clip in Motion but I don't think that would make the audio disappear on export. Thinking it was just a bad export, I tried just exporting the audio and the same thing happens.
    Here's what i'm using:
    Mac Pro dual 3.0 Xeon
    10 gigs of RAM
    Motion 2.1.2

    hi,
motion 2 had some odd audio problems that surfaced now and then. The only way round it was to bring the clip into FCP and edit the audio in there, and then export from fcp.
Motion 3 might have fixed this. Not sure havent had the problem for some time, since I make sure all finnishing is done in FCP.
    hope this helps

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when editing audio- any solutions?

Adobe Premiere Pro CC crashes nearly every time I try to edit audio, keyframe it in certain spots, etc, etc, with the error message that there has been an "unexpected problem" and the program must "force quit." Sometimes my work is saved, sometimes it isn't. And then I have to re-name my saved file, so I often end up with upwards of 15 different project files because I cannot edit audio without this program crashing. I see I'm not the only one--what is Adobe doing to fix this bug-riddled program? It's impossible to get anything done!
I'm using this program on a MAC, 6-Core Intel Xeon Processor. MAC OS X Lion 10.7.5.
I'm ready to lose my mind.

I am having a very similar experience.....I have been working in Adobe Premiere Pro for well over 8 years and have always had issues with crashes when working with audio files, keyframing, transition placement, trimming and so on. I have had nightmares with some projects that I am having crashes every change I do and it seems once you get an issue with a project it only gets worst. I have worked on a number of different systems in regards to hardware and get the same issues, OS has been Windows 7 64bit for number of years. I would have expected Adobe to have been able to smooth this out by now but it just keeps rearing its ugly head when I`m on a deadline crunch.
I try to never work with Mp3s and always request wav but it doesn't seem to matter in the long run.
Just wanted to let you know you are not the only one and I am having a serous issue with this problem once again!
Please help Adobe....audio is an issue with Premiere Pro for a lot of us....thanks!

  • PSE 3 - Slideshow audio problem

    Hi,
Hope someone could help with an issue I am encountering when trying to create a slideshow I'm trying to get together for the good lady wifes pending 40th.
I'm running PSE 3 on Windows XP and a Siemens Amilo Laptop.
Problem I'm having is that the audio isn't playing when I'm previewing the slide show??
It had been working fine but now seems not to come on at all, however strangely if I play the audio in the 'edit audio' dialoge box it comes on fine???
Growing increasingly frustrated at it and ready for throwing the thing off the wall!!
I'm a bit of a newbie at this so hope someone can help??
    Cheers
    Gerry

    Dear SD Mac User,
Here is the update to the audio slideshow problem. I tried many
different things, such as changing the settings, and using a
different hard drive with iDVD installed on it. Norhing
worked, and i did want to keep the
    107 or so jpegs.
But, just for the heck of it, I did YOUR suggestion, and wittled it
down to 99 jpegs, and burned it. Guess what, it actually worked!
No silent Nixon audio mysteriously erased!
Thanks for your help as I finally got this project out! A Happy ending!
Have you ever had this 99 jegs experience before, or was it guess?
    Either way, thanks again,
I guess the program freaks if more than 99 jpegs are used!

  • Issue with image size on overwrite edits.

This is likely a simple question but for some reason, likely sleep deprivation, I can't figure it out. I have a video sequence of a lecture that I am trying to overlay with a Keynote presentation (Quicktime H.264). I have the lecture video (DV capture) on track one and am doing simple overwrite edits on track two with transitions in and out. This worked perfectly while working on my laptop all night last night. Now I have began the same process with a second lecture (exact same file formats/image sizes as the previous) on my desktop system but when I perform the overwrite edits the video image does not fill the screen and the lecture footage on track one is visible behind the video on track two. I would like to have the video fill the screen. I even tested the same footage I used on the laptop on the desktop and have the same problem.
I am sure there is a setting somewhere that is different but I can't figure it out. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Scroll over in the browser and look at three things: image pixel dimensions of the keynote stuff, the video stuff and the sequence.
If they're not all the same, there's your problem.

  • Presenter 7 - how to insert marker type "Click" in Edit Audio dialog

    http://www.adobe.com/education/resources/hed/instructional/connect/collaborative_teaching/ pdfs/edit_audio_adobe_pres.pdf
The above document includes information that you can add four types of markers by using the Audio Editor in Presenter and one of the marker types is mouse-click animation. I can't find a way to do it in reality. The only way to insert this type of market is in Edit Sync dialog, not in Edit Audio. This requires resynchronisation of the whole audio instead of just adding one marker. In Edit Audio dialog I only have markers of type "Wait for user" and "Go to slide".
